Charlie's Angels - *LOL*...an updated version, of course, and different actresses from the current three...my vote for kickass Angels...Molly Culver (of V.I.P. fame), Gina Torres (of Firefly, Cleocraptra 2525 fame), and Jessica Alba (of Dark Angel fame). And for Bosley....hmmm tough choice there...ummm, the butler from Joe Millionaire...:-)

that's some excellent casting! (and if one of them says no then hmmm i guess dina meyer is too old?)

word to anyone who said:
grosse pointe
popular
max headroom
fastlane
keen eddie!!!
buffy!

did anyone mention:
Strange Luck? DB Sweeney had freaky luck, and he used it to help people. It was fantastic.
CBC - Seeing Things with louis delgado. (did i seriously just remember that guy's name?)
Beelzebubba
keen eddie!!!

For those interested and those that have Bravo Network, Keen Eddie will be starting in January.

I have no further info except they showed the promo 5,000 times during Celebrity Poker Showdown, but I'm thinking it's just the FuX run and no new episodes.

I would kill random strangers (and my hickabilly neighbors that bought their kids ATVs that they now need to learn to drive in the fields behind my quiet home) for new episodes of Greg the Bunny.

Greg the Bunny is a 2 chicken sacrifice in my house.
indybear
Bravo is showing all 13 episodes of Keen Eddie, some of which were never aired. They aren't producing any new episodes.
apeygirl
Has anyone here mentioned The Prisoner? I'm too lazy to read the eighty million pages before this.

I'm not so much wishing they'd bring it back, but wishing they hadn't ended it the way they did. Leaving so much unanswered. I threw things at the TV, it made me so angry. It was cancelled after the first season and there was only one episode to wrap it up. McGoohan did a crappy job of that. I think he was expressing his anger by ending it so incoherently. But he could have given it the ending it deserved. Hate the man.
ciscokidinsf
Lately, I've come to realize that most of what I call my 'favorite shows ever' are 'one season wonders' Those great shows that due to the stupidity of the networks were killed after a season or less... (Fox is, like, the expert at doing those)

I want to offer two of my own, very dear to my heart:

NBC's 'Kingpin' : Miguel Cadena and his 'familia' of narcos were without a doubt one of the finest shows ever. Bobby Cannavale as Chato created the dynamic duo of traficking. One season greatness that (thank God!) made it to DVD.

UPN's 'Platinum' : With production values that rivaled anything done on HBO, under academy award director Sofia Coppola as producer. Without a doubt, UPN's finest drama series, about a Rap and Hip-Hop recording house 'Sweetback Records' It had great plots and characters... and lasted one season. I'm still praying for a DVD

So, go ahead and share your thoughts about those one-season great shows... I have even more to share, and I will.
Gwynevere1
Firefly. 'Nuff said.
Rocketman
That 80's Show. Another Fox cancellation that shouldn't have been cancelled.

Does anyone know what percentage of the country participates in the Nielson ratings? I'm very curious as cancellation decisions are generally based on lack of ratings.
aurora
Firefly owns this thread.

Sadly, I have a feeling that Wonderfalls won't be around much longer.
Jamoche
There are 5000 regular "Nielsen families" nationwide. Thousands more get booklets for sweeps, but the one-season wonders generally get pulled during sweeps months. I had a booklet for a sweeps month during which Farscape did not air even once - and this was before it was cancelled.

5000 was statistically significant when it was the big 3 + PBS, but with the number of cable channels now, it works out to maybe 10 people per channel - the odds that a Nielsen family watches any particular niche channel or cult show is pretty small.
LinaBo
The Lone Gunmen: It was good silly fun, and Zuleikha Robinson is my girly-crush goddess. *sighs* Yves Adele Harlow was so cool... I dearly miss having her on TV.

Keen Eddie: Sooooo many reasons to like this show. Pippin, the HoYay, Miss HornyPenny, the HoYay, Pete the Dog, the HoYay... They aired the eps out of order, they didn't give us a full season, and some high-up network asshat supposedly had a personal dislike for the show, so he purposely asshatted all over it to prevent it from succeeding. That's FUX for you, ladies and gentlemen.
Rocketman
Thank you for the link Jamoche. It confirms my suspicions. It seems ridiculous that the decision to keep or cancel a show would be based on such a miniscule number!
Schweet
Freaks and Geeks.

And I was a John Doe fan, which was another victim of the asshats at FOX.
LinaBo
Oh Bob, yes, I liked John Doe, too. It could have been a bit better in places, but I still loved it and thought it had some great potential.
TimeMonkey
Birds of Prey.

It didn't have the best writting but I thought that it was a good show and unfortunatley it was cancelled just as I was really getting into it. It had so much potential.
valeriel
I'll see your Keen Eddie, which was clever, well-written and HILARIOUS, and raise you a Fastlane. I LOVED that show. It was hot, hip and had plenty of eye candy for everyone. No, it wasn't groundbreaking writing, or acting for that matter. But it good and it was FUN. Kinda like a twinkie for your brain.

ETA I haven't been able to find out if or when DVDs are coming out. Anybody? Anyone? Help!
daidouji
I've got to say Cupid. Jeremy Piven at his finest, and the only time I've ever been able to tolerate Paula Marshall. A quirky concept, brilliant writing... and poof. Way to go, ABC. The only time I ever wrote to a network about their decision to cancel a show.
Eegah
Nowhere Man. In my opinion the only good show UPN has ever had (though I haven't seen Platinum). Making it worse is that it ended with so much up in the air. Thomas Veil discovered a sizable piece of the puzzle, but the guys who erased his identity were still unaccounted for.
Puds38
Jake 2.0
A premise that could have been corny, kinda a 6 million dollar man for the 00's, but it was done so well. Perhaps too well, oh yeah did I mention it was on UPN?
kiki82
Cupid! Yes, I remember that show, used to come on Saturday nights on ABC, like 6 years ago? I also loved Freaks and Geeks, now the one girl is a nurse on ER.
CleaPet
Miracles. Interesting premise: the former seminary student who was being targeted by Evil, presumably because there was something in parentage that left him open to vulnerability, but was in the process of discovering the strength of his own free will in order to resist it. I'm not explaining it very well, but the show was deliciously creepy. With fantastic actors. The sixth episode was fabulous, and naturally the last one that ABC aired.
Poodle Hat
Jumping on the Firefly bandwagon.

Oh, and Police Squad.
inanna
I've refrained from posting before because I thought a bigger fan would have mentioned it right away but since it hasn't been mentioned yet, My So-Called Life. Great show, great critical reviews, but I guess not decent enough ratings.
jjenni
Another vote for My So-Called Life. It didn't even make it a full season, but it will remain as one of my all time favorite tv shows. It was thoughtful, and sad, and hopefull, and romantic, and confusing, and insightful, and funny, and just all-together brilliant. And it just breaks my heart that we never got to see what happened after Angela drove away with Jordan Catalano. *sniff* Now I have to go and rewatch my dvd's...
sugarfreekelli
Eek, valeriel! Right here with the Fastlane love!

Man. I loved that show, too. I mean, there wasn't a whole lot *not* to love. Fast cars, good-looking men, Hoyay, MTV-ish camera work, and killer music. I hope the DVDs (if they're actually putting them out) are available soon!
sears44
Jumps out of his seat in excitement over this thread...

Cupid: Jeremy Piven was absolutely brilliant in his role as a crazy man turned Cupid. Paula Marshall and Jeffrey D. Sams also were brilliant in there roles. It was really the first dramedy but Ally McBeal took that idea from them, IMHO.

Now and Again: sighs I LOVED this show. It is the best show ever, IMO. Eric Close was superb. I cherish my tapes of this episode. I want a damn DVD, CBS.
Nflux Forever
Undergrads I remember back in 2001 when MTV tried to air it but it went to live on in reruns on Comedy Central. Still I wish it had another season. And while I'm here, I'll add Clerks on ABC.
Gwynevere1
Keen Eddie! How could I have forgotten!

Jake 2.0
A premise that could have been corny, kinda a 6 million dollar man for the 00's, but it was done so well. Perhaps too well, oh yeah did I mention it was on UPN?
Oh, right. I liked the one episode I saw. I probably would have watched more if it weren't scheduled opposite David Greenwalt's old show, ANGEL. Who makes these decisions?

Also like to add The First Years. OK, I'm not under any delusions that this was the greatest show ever, but it wasn't that bad, particularly considering the junk which NBC has kept on the air for years.
Shalamar
Parenthood, the TV series. It starred Ed Begley Jr. in the Steve Martin role. It was sweet and funny, but the asses in charge kept moving it from one timeslot to another before finally cancelling it for good. Jerks.
sugarfreekelli
Oops! How could I have forgotten The Tick? Gah! I loved that show. "Java Devil, you are now my b*tch!"
what is my name
My vote is for Pasadena. I liked the storylines and the characters. I wanted to know what would happen to these people. So, of course, Fox cancelled it. I hate Fox.
Add It Up
Thank you for mentioning Platinum, The Tick, Keen Eddie, John Doe, The Lone Gunmen, and Firefly, like I really need to opening up those emotional scars.

One that I am the only person in the world to miss is The Education of Max Bicford, it was a sweet show that reminded me a lot of Joan of Arcaida would be like if Joan was an 75-year-old widower who didn't think God was talking to him. Like Joan it was a family show that the entire family would acctualy want to watch.

Oh, and let us not forget Andy Ricter Rules the Universe and Action. Notice a trend of canned Fox shows?

ETA: Invader Zim, Clone High, and Clerks all these where amazing shows that could had been the best on television. I felt sick for about a week after learning they canned Clone High
Gwynevere1
Well, we can now add Wonderfalls to the list.

ETA: I miss TEOMB, too, Add It Up. I wish it had been given a second season. I was rooting for Marcia Gay Harden to win the Oscar again this year, so I could offer a few suggestions as to what she could do with it to the CBS execs.
amani
I adored Skin - at least, the two episodes (out of what, three?) that I saw. I know that the ratings were kind of abysmal, and it was crazy expensive to produce, but it was pretty! As was Fastlane. Stellar show, for all the reasons sugarfreekelli mentioned.

Also, American Embassy was never really given a chance. I think FOX aired, like, one episode. Dude. It was one of two attempts to recreate Ally McBeal - the other one, Girls' Club wasn't given a fair shake either, IMHO. There were only two episodes. Whatever, FOX.
roybetter
Andy Richter and Undeclared.

Stupid, stupid Fox.
Vacationland
Freaks and Geeks, The Lone Gunmen, Wonderfalls (dammit!), Firefly...seems as soon as I find a quirky, smart new show, watch it, enjoy it, and -- God forbid -- decide to tape it, it's doomed. In fact, the only show that actually didn't respond to my kiss o' death was X-Files. *sigh*

Oh! The brilliantly twisted Profit. Slick, amoral business shark by day, whimpering naked cardboard box-dweller by night -- what's not to love? Of course it couldn't last.
Melvin_Spelvin
Andy Richter Controls the Universe was hilarious. It pissed me off that they never really gave that show a chance.

I think it had a couple of seasons, but Freaks & Geeks was canned way before it's time. The same can be said for it's twin, Undeclared.

By the way, I heard that
Family Guy has new episodes which will be aired on Cartoon Network. At first I thought this show was a total Simpsons rip-off, but it grew on me. There are some similarities, but they each have their own brand of humor. So I'm glad it's coming back.
LinaBo
Wonderfalls? CANCELLED??? Nooooooooo! *cries* Fuck it all, it's brilliant.... here's hoping that it can somehow be saved... *prays*

Does anyone wonder how FOX still even warrants channel space and the right to call itself a network when it no longer seems to show anything good without almost immediately cancelling it???
roybetter
And now Wonderfalls? If Fox cancels Arrested Development (knock on wood), I may give up on it.
SiameseCatLady
Freaks & Geeks and Miracles definitely. Sadly, every show that's been mentioned (that I saw before it's untimely death) was better than most of the crap that continues to air. On the Freaks & Geeks DVDs, they mention that one of the shows that kicked their ass in the ratings and drove NBC to cancel them - after NBC failed to give it a regular time-slot and pre-empted it at every opportunity - was Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. And wasn't Joe Millionaire or some other craptacular reality show on opposite Miracles? Sometimes I really question whether Darwin was right!

ETA: I know pre-emptions to cover Bush's Vanity War helped kill Miracles, but wasn't there an actual show (more or less) that also helped?
Agent0042
Now and Again! We never knew how good it was until it was gone! Seriously, I loved that show. I've taped as much of it that's aired on SciFi as I can since I didn't tape the original broadcast.

[show]Wonderfalls[/show] toast? Just damn.
Poodle Hat
Now And Again fell prey to too many shows named nearly the same thing the same season, didn't it? There was Now And Again, Once And Again, and it seems like one other permutation. I don't think anyone knew what they were watching.
cal331
Grosse Pointe on the WB was most clever, biting comedy that network will ever transmit to the viewing public. So of course, they had to get rid of it. I also loved Do Over, which didn't even get a full season. Was Savannah on for more than one year? If not, add it to the list.

I'm still boycotting NBC over F&G. If they had exclusive broadcast rights to the Second Coming, live, I'd wait for the DVDs.

Oh and Fox? SCREW YOU! If it weren't for 24, I wouldn't watch you at all.
Daisy Duke
Definitely throwing in the votes for Firefly and Fastlane. Funny, dirty, shirtless Ho-Yay goodness, both of them.

As a huge sci-fi geek, I must say, Firefly dies and Enterprise lives because of.... WHY???
Mmm... Free Goo
I don't even know why they cancel shows after two or three episodes, when most have at least 13 in the bag. Especially when the networks don't actually have any new programming to put in its place. (I'm looking at you, FOX. Admittedly, I tried to get into Wonderfalls but couldn't. I have to admit I was somewhat happy, though surprised, that the trashy Forever Eden was on Friday nights, because I missed the last week due to it being up against The Apprentice. *runs and hides*) They let reality shows air for their whole run. The pathetic thing is though, that apparently Friends and C.S.I. reruns do get more ratings than most new shows.
More shows should premiere in earlier months to avoid the fall season rush. I fear to think what would have happened to The O.C. had it premiered in September.

Anyway, does anyone remember the WB sitcom Off Centre? It starred Finch from the American Pie movies, an Asian guy, and an English dude. I like sophomoric humor, so I found it funny. It may have actually lasted two seasons, i'm not sure on that. Grosse Pointe was also great.

Definitely agree on Platinum. VERY well done, especially for UPN.
sugarfreekelli
Hey, Add It Up, I reeeeally liked Invader Zim, too, although I think it actually had two seasons. It didn't seem like it, though. Wow, that show was stellar. It was just too good to be a kid's show, though. Nickelodeon just didn't appreciate it as the fantastically Gothic comedy it was. *sigh* At least the DVDs are coming out this summer, and it still has a lot of merchandise being sold at Hot Topics around the nation. I have 2 (two!!!) messenger bags, myself.
Albanyguy
Add me to the Fastlane love train. And what about Boomtown? I know that technically it lasted into its second season, but it sure didn't feel that way when NBC kept jerking it around.

Does anybody remember Maximum Bob with Beau Bridges. Funny, funny show that died a premature death (which maybe was appropriate since it was about a judge who loved sending people to the electric chair).
The Pez
I loved The Tick the non-animated version, good 13 episodes; I hug my Tick DVD at night.

Undergrads had a lot of potential, so did Dilbert which had 30 episodes. The Critic deserves credit too, it was too wacky for TV back then.

Whoever said Andy Ritcher Controls the Universe is so right, what a genuis show. Andy was great on it. I'm trying to think of more one season wonders...Clerks, only 6 episodes!
WishyPants
Stupid Fox - I would have at least like to see more of Wonderfalls to decide if I really liked it or not. It took a few episodes for me to really fall in love with Firefly. Not to mention my love for Andy Richter and Action. Stupid, stupid Fox.

ABC is another station that loves to cancel shows I loved - My So Called Life and Relativity.

I also liked the Brotherhood of Poland NH and I think it only aired 3 episodes.
geebs_criminy
I also liked the Brotherhood of Poland NH

Me too. The Agency is another one that was really good that CBS didn't carry on with.
Nflux Forever
Clerks, only 6 episodes!

And only two of them actually made it on the air. I know because the next week when I tuned in to its time slot, they had an episode of Spin City instead. Bleh.
