Season 4's continuity, Hex's leathers, the ever-changing Baudway towers, the evolution of Dot's breast(s), and that gay binome. All good reason for starting a new thread, no?

Yeah! I was just thinking about starting a thread like this! Damn I miss this show, they took it away then taunted me with eight new episodes then they killed Hex and left a huge cliffhanger. I hate wich ever company own the rights to this show! Why did they have to fragment the best character on the show? I have loved Hex since her first appearance, Racing the Clock, and I loved her until her death, in Sacrifice. Sigh.

Awhile back Cartoon Network showed a miniseries of sorts bringing back the Original Bob, and re-establishing MegaByte as the villain. What I read about it was, it was a pilot for re-starting the series. It was quite good. I was taping the ones that aired 5am-ish to catch up on the seasons that only aired in Canada.
IIRC, Dot's anatomy was at the request of ABC, so as to not be too sexy for the li'l kids. After it went to (Ytv?), everybody got a little more enhanced. It was a little funny when Enzo became something like "Cable" from X-force. Mr. Bad-boy.

I hated that Enzo! Andraia was cooler as an adult but Enzo was really annoying IMO. He had a cool gun and eye but he just made me want to smack him silly everytime he opened his mouth. Hex should have smacked him around, especialy after he didn't want to help her after she become a sprite and was infected and injured by Daemon (I hate that stupid french bitch). On the bright side Matrix did make Megabyte go away so I don't totaly hate him.

Funny you should post a ReBoot thread now since
this news was just released yesterday (from TVshowsOnDVD.com). Great news to me. I may've thought My Two Bobs was a little sketchy in places, but Daemon Rising was kinda awesome.
Season 3 is still tops though (and some of that great stuff at the end of Season 2. I always watched the series infrequently, considering it a guilty pleasure, until it gained a constant arc that year).
Does anyone know if there's a boxed set containing all four volumes of Season 3? Individually, they're pretty expensive, even from online retailers that knock a bit off. ADV's releases are usually pricey though, since pretty much all of their stuff is anime and they need to make as much as they can off of a somewhat niche market. Good news is that the studio releasing Season 4, Anchor Bay (as you would've read in the press release I linked to), is putting out an incredible deal. Those 2 movies (or 8 episodes), for less than the cost of a 3-4 episode disc of Season 3.
Now if whoever owns the rights to Seasons 1-2 would get moving, maybe we'd see more sales and possibly a Season 5.
To be honest, I was more than happy with the way things ended in Season 3 (despite the mystery of the duplicate Enzo that would've been left hanging). But Season 4 got things moving again and now the series feels incomplete.

ITA, S3 ended in a nice place and was a completely aceptable ending for the series, with nothing important left hanging and all the villains defeated or in love with Bob. Then we got the marvelous
Daemon Rising, I was overjoyed. My favorite series was back, I laughed, I cried (poor Hex) and I was rehooked and curious about what would happen. Then came
My Two Bobs, which was almost complete and total crap, IMO. Hexadecimal's sacrifice was almost completely ignored (ungrateful bastards), and several very large things were introduced but then they didn't explain anything. And to make it even worse they ended on a huge cliffhanger and won't say what happens next. When I saw it I was so mad that I screamed in outrage.

I loved this show. Especially season 3. Loved kick arse Dot with her hot tatoo. Loved new Bob, and that sweet Mortal Kombat fight. Enzo losing the game was freakin shoking...oh and the "Power Rangers" ep, was hilarious.
So that was the final season? I thought they were just some, very lame and poorly animated movies. I also thought the series ended nicely in season 3 (Wow! was it really only 3 seasons?). Everyone hooked up, Dot got her lil bro back, we got a cool Opera and Bob still looked cool. The thing I hated about the movies was we never saw Ray. Well, he had one scene and they dropped his name. But that's it.
Andraia was fug. The first time she apeared on screen I thought she was a boy and she was just us fugly as an adult. Dot really was the only hot chick on that show. Remember her Mortichia outfit? ;) But, Andraia was a pretty cool character, though. Matrix's constant bitching was annoying. He was suposed to be so bad arse, but he was actually kinda whinny.
Funniest ep. Enzo's birthday, with Bob and Meba Byte dueling axes. :lol

What's everyones top five favorite episodes?
Mine are:
1) Painted Windows- Hexadecimal gets to redecorate the city and it's just awsome. Phong's head gets turned into an apple, Megabyte gets turned into a clown, we find out what happens when Hex's masks come off, and Enzo gets viwindowed!
2) Wizards Warriors and a Word From Our Sponser- The opening scene is hillarious, it's a role playing Game, and they ride a flying banana.
3) Nullzilla- EvilBlackHexadecimal! Nullzilla! Power Ranger parodies!
4)Firewall- Cool opening theme, Hex gets to mock and threaten Megabyte, funny 007 Enzo.
5)Sacrifice- SuperHex!!! Daemon gets her stupid ass kicked! Matrix gets bitten! Hexadecimal saves everyone!!!

Wizards Warriors and a Word From Our Sponser
Hee. "Abraka-whachama-cadabra-callit!"
I liked the episode where Matrix and AndrAIa had to teach a system how to defend themselves, and there's a Xena joke with the Gabrielle sprite.
Also, again I don't know what the episode is called (I should probably check, oh well), but the ones with the spectrals and the hero collective. Cool fights.

The funniest and most brilliant thing on tv ever would have to be Mike's gospel song in the second episode of Daemon Rising.

I remember seeing ReBoot when it first was on ABC and hating it. Then I rediscovered this wonderful show when Cartoon Network began showing it. A while later CBC picked it up. It was wonderful. Then, sadly it went away.
My favorite episodes (that I can remember right now anyway) are probably Web World Wars, Talent Night, and Game Over.
IMO, the first Bob was the best. He was such a lovable dork!

Reboot went through an interesting Dragon Ball-esque arc. It started out as a guilty pleasure comedy show, then gradually morphed into a more action-oriented show and even became serialized with the one constant story in season three. My favorite episodes were the Mad Max game (Bob's telling his car "You HAVE to do this to me, don't you?" gets me every time) and the spoof of The Prisoner, though much like with the Simpsons Prisoner spoof I really do wonder what people who knew nothing about the show thought of it.

I loved the Evil Dead parody they did. The game is pretty violent and at one point an upset Dot exclaims, "What kind of person would play a game like this!", or something like that. The funny part is that all the characters look disapprovingly at the audience. Heh, I play a lot of Silent Hill and Resident Evil so that was like my own personal shout out.

ITA, Enzo was such a little bitch when he became an 'adult'.
I watched this show in its entirety on YTV, and I have to say as a child growing up, it was my favourite. Even looking back on it today, there are subtle jokes on computer culture that I didn't pick up on at the time.
When season 4 came out however, I was utterly confused. I wish they finished with season 3.
Favourite episode? Season finale's were always my favourite.
First seasons X-Files finish,
Second seasons Mortal Kombat finish (Enzo's loss)
Third season finale (Play)

REBOOT!
Sorry. That was the end of the intro talking.
Speaking of the "X-Files finish", how weird was it that Gillian Anderson appeared as her spoofed self, Data Nully? I was admittedly disappointed at first because I thought that was a first rate VA job by whoever was doing the character's voice before I learned it was Ms. Scully herself.
My favorite moment would be Mike at the beginning of "Wizards, Warriors, and a Word from our Sponsor" when he drives Bob up the wall with his inane and incessant ad banter. "It's Bucket 'o Nothing! Surprise your friends, amaze your family, annoy perfect strangers! FREE! FOR ONLY 99.99.99!!!"

Hmnn. I'd almost forgotten that the 4th season DVD was coming out. Must buy! Must buy! Now if only they could free up the Season 1 - Season 2 rights...
My five favorite episodes, in no particular order:
1) Wizards, Warriors and a Word From Our Sponsor - The episode that establishes Mike.
2) End Prog - I remember when I was watching it for the first time, and the credits came on, and I looked at my watch thinking "It's too early." Then came the musical recap of Season III. One of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV, if not the funniest thing. I almost killed myself laughing.
3) The Episode With No Name - To this day, I'm convinced that "Do your droids have personality chips?" is a reference to something, but I've never figured out what. Great episode, with a great showdown between Adraia and the Guardian.
4) Between a Racoon and a Hard Place - "Racoon searching high & low..." 'Nuff said.
5) Talent Night - I really love the guitar contest between Bob and Megabyte
Man, I wish that they'd do a Season V. I want to know how things work out, dagnabit! :-)

The one thing that pissed me off was their system of time. To them, a second is a day, fine, that I can accept. However, their subdivisions would have even made the French cringe. The seemed to refer to a minute as a nanosecond, yet a billionth of one day would be 0.0000864 seconds. That always pissed me off. Otherwise, I loved this show.

Are you sure a second is a day? I always remember them saying, "I haven't had this much fun in seconds", which always made me think a second was a year.
And word to the adult AndrAIa love. It's the collapsable trident that does it for me. That's a kickass weapon. Although I was disappointed we never saw young AndrAIa shoot those wrist-harpoon things she had.

Time is pretty loose in ReBoot.
Usually about the only thing you can say for sure is that a second is a day and a nano is a minute, but that isn't always the case. And, as
cuiusquemodi said, even what we know's not consistent with real time. Like, while a second's a day a year's about a decade.
The time scale I usually use is:
Nano: Minute
Microsecond: Hour
Second: Day
Cycle: Week
Minute: Month
Hour: Year
Year: Decade

Just a quick note: I picked up the Reboot V4 DVD a few months back, and noticed the sound problem others have mentioned.
I wrote to Anchor Bay about it. They never replied, and I figured my letter got lost in the bureaucracy.
To my surprise (and great pleasure) a replacement Reboot V4 dvd, with the sound problem fixed, arrived by FedEx today. No questions asked, no shipping of the old disc required... they just replaced it with the proper disc.
Kudos to Anchor Bay for being a class act.
Kris_AB
Jun 8, 2005 @ 11:37 pm
Yeah, once you're able to get a hold of them and they tell you what to do (ie, send the damaged disc back), they're really good about replacing it. There was some miscommunication for a while because I don't think the Anchor Bay customer service e-mail was getting answered, but eventually someone from Mainframe contacted them and it all got straightened out. I think there's a notice somewhere on their site somewhere (not sure if it's ReBoot-specific or generalized for the sake of all their releases) that gives intructions. You're always supposed to keep the DVD case, just send the disc back.
I wonder what happened to those Season 3 DVD re-releases. They were going to be put out again as the same individual volumes, but with new cover art (see: TVshowsOnDVD.com). And they were going to be a hell of a lot cheaper, none of that charging $20-something for three or four episodes as some companies do with a lot of anime and was done with the original Season 3 DVDs. I was hoping the re-releases would prompt whoever owns the rights to Seasons 1 & 2 to think about putting those out. It's stupid that you can own the last two seasons of the series but not the first two.

I'm with you about Seasons I & II. Especially the first Reboot "arc": Nullzilla, Gigabyte, Trust No One and Web World War. Ah, who am I kidding: I want all of them. And I want a Season 5. Favourite episodes? Definitely "Nullzila" (I was more amused by the Thunderbirds parody though), "End Prog" (For no other reason than the ending song), "The Episode with No Name" (Just enjoyed the episode, loved the system they were in), "The Great Brain Robbery" (I love Mouse) and the whole "Daemon Rising" movie (the four episodes were originally shown as one TV movie).

I have no idea who came up with the idea to recap Season III at the end of End Prog. But I would love to meet them and shake their hand. Putting the whole thing to Gilbert & Sullivan (and pulling it off nicely) was a stroke of genius. I'm going to have to put in the dvd and check the credits; I wonder if the same person came up with the lyrics to "Cross Node" (Mike's brilliant gospel number) in the Daemon Rising episode of the same name?
Maybe I should start a site petitioning YTV and Mainframe to get together and do one more TV movie. One that would last just long enough to get Megabyte out of the Principal Office, and maybe have Bob and Dot say "I love you" just because. :-)

Me too. The structure (Two plots. Always having a game come in halfway through the show. Megabyte and Hex are evil. Ect.)of the first two seasons was a fabulous breeding ground for humor. They also did darkness better in the first three seasons than in the fourth. I had nightmares after the two-parter where Dot thought she was in the future and Bob was dead.
I Netflix'd the fourth season and was very disappointed- although I did find Daemon kinda cool and I'll always love Mike the TV. I wish they still showed it in the States.

Agreed. Although I loved seasons 3 and 4, there were some things that just irked me. Dot was way too whiney throughout season 3; it's as if she couldn't go two episodes without crying. Do sprites undergo PMS too?
As for the possibility of new Reboot, it seems unlikely. CN seemed intent on quashing the series when Mainframe refused to give them the rights, which is why they basically showed Season 4 once and then moved Reboot off to ungodly hours before removing it from their schedule completely. The ratings suffered and I just don't know if there's enough fan demand (at least in the US) to convince Mainframe to do another season. Also, one of the people instrumental in creating Reboot, Gaving Blair, left Mainframe in 2002, and I just wouldn't want to see another season if the entire team wasn't on board.
Have I mentioned that I hated Spider-man?
