Maybe he'll choose based on good business principles rather than who would make good TV? That's the trap he (due to Burnett?) seemed to fall into these past two seasons.
I dunno about that, at least not if judged by the winners. I don't think of Kelly or Kendra as making for "good TV." In Apprentice3, many of the more flamboyant characters were fired by mid-season (for instance, Danny, Kristin, Brian).

One thing for sure: the street smarts versus books smarts concept is RIP. (Hooray, hooray!) This season's group is dominated by the book smarts crew, much like Apprentice2.

ETA So, no information on the former stripper, though I agree with AmberDawn that Kristi looks like the most likely candidate. Possibly it could be a man, though I seem to recall that the initial accounts suggested that it was a woman who was trying to turn her life around (although based on the NBC bios, that doesn't seem to apply to any of the new Apprentices either). But, without finding that first article (or at least I haven't found it so far), I can't be sure.

Yeah, I know. I'm just grasping at straws, hoping for a better season.

OK...I was reluctant to post this last week, because it made no sense to me, but now...here goes: I invited myself to the TA4 finale this year, because my friend/source at Mark Burnett and I went last May for TA3, and I wanted to go again and also find out the date for the finale. She said December 15th-- and we should definitely go together again. I asked how that was possible, because that would have something like 6 or 7 candidates remaining at that point. She said she didn't know, she just saw the schedule, and it is on her calendar for that day. (now she has finished a made-for-TV-movie instead of working on TA4 like she did TA3). So now, I go to yahoo, read Bren's blog and bio, look at pics, then sign up for the fantasy game. It says the final choice must be made by December 8th, 2005---one week before the finale she said is on December 15th. So he either fires an entire team, or 2-3 people a couple of times, or maybe people just walk...
goobaletta
Oooh, that's very interesting Cooler. So TA4 is precisely 13 weeks per that information. I agree that multiple firings or quittings must occur. Unless they show more than one episode per week which just doesn't make sense.

This may be a fun season after all.
AmberDawn
I took another look at the www.nbc.com candidate interviews and noticed something interesting. When asked the first question, "when will you consider yourself a success?", 12 of the 18 candidates give a "Chris Russo" style answer, i.e. something to the effect of "I'm already a success.". Would it be too much to presume the final 2 come from the 6 candidates who do not yet consider themselves successes?

Cooler: if what you say is correct, then there will only be 11 tasks completed before the final "four"(or will it be three again) interviews. I suspect that something will go terribly wrong towards the end of the season, too late for the producers to fix it, e.g four people quit in episode 11, forcing them to go into the final three interviews in episode 12. Considering the disgruntled tone of many of the candidate interviews, it does not bode well for Trump's handpicked cast of gorgeous people.
tiggeril
Oooooh. This might end up entertaining after all.

Where are you seeing this? When I go to the Yahoo fantasy game, all I see is the old group, with Kendra winning, and all I see of the fantasy game tells me it is completed, and they will see me "next season".
If the new game is up, I don't see it. Please let me know where you do. Thanks

Trump's Yahoo Site- With auditions!
CheekyCricket
nilknarf, you have to go through the sign-up process (using the link above) to get to the page Cooler is referring to. Yep, final pick is due on December 8th, 4PM PST. Hmmm . . .

By the way, the fantasy game starts on Sept. 19th, and the deadline for getting in the picks for the first show is Sept. 22nd, 4PM PDT.

My my, they've really gussied up the candidates' suite this season. Also, I'm already finding several of the male candidates difficult to tell apart. This looks like the season for dark-haired Apprentici.

Finally, touching back on an earlier spoiler regarding George Lucas--well, this is more of a potential spoiler than an actual one--the possible task involves a promotional campaign for the release of the Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith DVD. It turns out that Burger King will be doing a tie-in promotion launching more toys in their Star Wars line. StarWars.com: Revenge Returns to Burger King . November 7th (a Monday) is the release date. As I said, a potential spoiler, since there's no mention of The Apprentice.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was just me!

Did anyone else look a the photos from the new suite? The one bedroom has what looks like a queen sized bed in it. The rest all looked like twin beds. Anyone know why?

If you mean the bed on the left in the gold and green bedroom (gold coverlets with green walls), it looks too short (when compared to the other bed) to be a full-sized queen bed. Maybe it's a fancy-schmancy day bed? Or some kind of futon? I can't tell . . . (I haven't been able to load the 360-degree views, in case that's showing another bedroom that you're referring to instead.)

Gad, that orange-red bedroom would burn my eyes out! Even with my eyes closed . . .

From the promo's, I looks like the same tired process to me. Has it been mentioned what will be the unique addition / approach to the new season?

I found this on the Elizabeth Jarosz messageboard

a female was apparently injured during the filming of TA4. There are reports that she had her leg in a cast and was in a wheelchair during some of the tasks. I think the injury occur during a reward party after her team won a task. Maybe she quit early.
This might explain part of the abbreviated TA4 season.

I think someone mentioned this before. They said that someone on the Dick's Sporting Goods task had a cast. It was mentioned right around the time that the lawyer guy from CA was suing Trump & Apprentice et al about not having anyone with disabilities on the show.

Cooler:

I'm very surprised NBC would end it in December unless they had to speed up filming this spring in order to complete filming of both the Donald and Martha versions with minimal overlap by June 30 (which is I believe when Martha's version finished), that would be in turn to avoid as best possible winding up with tasks taking place during an excessive heat wave, which if I remember correctly happened in New York right after the 4th of July weekend.

If anything, I would suspect NBC would want to extend "A4" as late into January as possible for reasons previously mentioned in the Ratings & Scheduling thread.
nilknarf
Thank you to those who explained how to get into the Yahoo! Fantasy game.
Does anyone yet know how the teams will be divided, and/or what the first task is going to be?

I read this forum all of last year, but only signed up to comment for this season.
Am enjoying the show and the comments.

I think it's a case of the NBC publicity department not realizing what spoiler dynamite they had in the "desert island" interview question. If they were trying to "fake" it, I would expect them to do it in a much less telling way. The spotlight is now on Toral and Clay after the answers they gave.
Delurking to ask what Toral said in her interview for the "desert island" question. I read all the other apprenti's responses except hers. I think NBC deleted that last question from her interview.
lauriecake
kokopuff, in response to the "desert island" question, Toral had answered, "I would take my chances floating at sea." Obvious, it seems to be a spolier, and the question with the answer was just recently taken off the website.

And it's good to have Bren back in Trumpland, too. I can't wait!

So many bitter responses to that desert island question, it's hard to decide who got the cobra strike first. Toral, probably, if we go by degree of disdain.

This might have some spoiler potential. Last week when I visited the site www.allawartenberg.com It said "Website Launching Sept 28". Now the site says "website launching Sept 22". Last season several Apprentice candidates launched their websites in the week before they were fired. Kristen, Tara, Audrey and Stephanie all did. Maybe NBC had Alla pull back the date of her website launch to kill any spoiler potential. Anyway, I have a good idea who I'm going to pick in the Yahoo Fantasy Game for week #2.

Edit to correct typo.

Not to be picky,....but actually you missed an "A" it's here. Just thought I'd save someone being confused.

ETA: The audition videos seem to be working at the yahoo site now if anyone is interested in watching them. After watching them, (yes...I do need to get a life now), I think the top 5 from the way they present themselves on the interview/audition tapes would be Felisha, Jen M, Josh, Randal & Marshawn. I would then eliminate Felisha and Josh because their answers to the desert island question showed little respect for Trumpy. Some of them are a bit aggressive and cocky for these interviews! It might get interesting with all of them in 1 suite!

on a side note....does "Brian" always have to mean sarcastic and obnoxious on the apprentice? He even said in his interview....they either love me or they hate me and was bleeped while answering the questions! HELLO it was supposed to be an interview!
Reddun owner
Does anyone know if the woman (I think she is a Russian expat) that was the stripper and involved with a murder was asked to leave or did she complete the show without any mention of her sleazy past (and by sleazy I don't mean the whole stripper part)?

Thanks!

FYI The whole sorry tale is told on the Smoking Gun website. Very odd and disturbing stuff.
goobaletta
This is being discussed in the Media thread and in Alla's thread, Reddun owner. I've not seen any spoilers in re: her getting booted early for any reason. If anyone else has, I have a feeling they'll post at some point.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the yahoo fantasy game is now allowing you to choose your final pick to be the winner this season.

Mark your calendars, the fantasy game officially begins Monday, September 19. However, read up on the candidates by clicking their thumbnails above and make your bonus Season Pick now!
ETA: Does anyone think this excerpt from the yahoo bio is spoilery for Marshawn?
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, she relocated from Washington, D.C. to Georgia where she will begin her career as a litigator with a top Atlanta law firm.
Didn't someone say they did these interview questions after the show was filmed?

How about this #2 question for Jennifer M.:
Who convinced you to try out for the Apprentice?
When I competed at Miss USA I met Mr. Trump and had a brief conversation with him about being on The Apprentice. He agreed that I would be a good candidate for the show. Since then it has been a big focus of mine to try out and get on.
Kind of makes you wonder why he was looking for TA people at the 2004 pageant....both Marshawn & Jenn M. were in Trumpy's pageants. Don't you think he could find enough qualified candidates in other ways?
tiggeril
He was "networking," duh.

Now imagine my eyes rolling so hard they smack into the wall.

JokersUpdate site It's a link to the info below. I've listed the important stuff.

Eighteen new would-be billionaires convene at Trump National Golf Club to set out on their grueling 13-week job interview. After a frantic start, the teams battle it out in the billion-dollar fitness business. One candidate loses their cool and another is useless under pressure as both teams race to the finish. The winning project manger deals with a new "exemption" rule while the losers are beaten up in the boardroom and the first candidate is fired.  Their first task: work up and promote a new fitness class for Bally's Gym.
I guess this is why someone said they didn't start out at the Suite. Does anyone know what the "NEW" exemption rule is?
Cooler
Wallyhorse- check out Magsi2's above link. In addition to my source and the yahoo fantasy game, with this link-I think it can be confirmed that this season is 13 weeks and will not go into January.

Someone mentioned that the websites can't be up until a week before they are fired, and if I remember from TA3, it was that they could not be completely active until after the actual night they were fired EST. I will check on that and report back tomorrow.
AmberDawn

Someone mentioned that the websites can't be up until a week before they are fired, and if I remember from TA3, it was that they could not be completely active until after the actual night they were fired EST.
Not so. In TA3 Alex and Erin's websites were active before the show started and Kendra's went up half way through the season. I think the rule is that if a candidate's website goes active, it doesn't mean they WILL be fired soon, BUT if a candidate's website isn't active yet, it means they WON'T be fired until it is.
Cooler
Just had lunch at Nello's on the East Side with my friend/souce from Mark Burnett. She said that they can have a website, and it is encouraged, but they can only refer to themselves as Apprentice candidates after NBC does the press release (like they did early September). Also, when the website goes up or is active is of no consequence. They simply cannot say anything on their site about the show until after they are fired.

So it seems that since some people had sites coming up the week before they were fired is an indicator they were lazy and did it last minute, because they knew their press tour would be the following week. NBC does not dictate or put constraints on the timing of the websites.
Magsi2
Thanks cooler. Nice to know.

I did my reply to this post in the Ratings & Scheduling thread, as this more fits there than here (don't be fooled by the July 26 post date, I just edited it to add my reply there).

Marshawn was Miss D.C. 2001 in the Miss America Pageant, which Trump doesn't own, and Jennifer Murphy, Miss Oregon 2004, was in the Miss USA pageant which Trump does own. As a side note, Jessica, from Tommy Hilfiger's The Cut, was Miss Minnesota 2004, in the Miss USA pageant, so she competed against Jen M. II.
PussNBoots
Thanks for the info Cooler. BTW, I think 18 candidates in a 13 week schedule is great spoiler material, and I appreciate the posting. If I could only determine how he is going to get rid of so many...
I wonder if it has anything to do with the new exemption rule (or maybe lack thereof). Does anyone have those details?
AmberDawn
Last Season there had a final 3 instead of a final 4 for the interview segment. Maybe this time they'll have a final 5 or even a final 6.

AmberDawn:

Or more double firings like Maria/Wes, or more quitters like Verna.
AmberDawn
To have have more than one double firing would be kind of monotonous. Maybe there will be a triple firing or multiple quitings. Still, if Trump and Burnette wanted to cut the season short, the easiest way to do it is expand the interview process from a final 4 to a final 6.
tiggeril
Personally, I'm hoping for rabid ferrets in the suite.

Thanks for correcting me. I'm actually glad that's not the case. Marshawn looks like a good candidate from the available info about her. Jennifer does too, but it looks like she had her foot in the door before the actual process of "auditioning/interviewing" began.

I guess this is getting purely speculative, but perhaps towards the end, an entire team is fired? That's what I'm envisioning.

Though I'm liking the mental image of those rabid ferrets more and more . . .
Looking at Question #1, this season the teams will be divided by age. Income doesn't seem fair, while the other two options have been tried before.

Edit: Here's my analysis: Felisha, Mark and James' names are mentioned the fewest times, so they're probably not very prominant in this shows edit and probably will be around for a while. Adam, Clay, Jen W,Josh, Kristi, Markus, and Marshawn, and Toral receive the most mentions. The first firee in previous seasons has always been a man, so that narrows it down to Adam, Clay, Josh, and Markus. Josh has been spotted working on a later task, so that eliminates him. Clay is too controversial to go in episode 1, so that narrows it down to Adam and Markus. Can you guess who I picked as the first firee?
GreenBean227
Oops, ya beat me to it, AmberDawn
CheekyCricket
I agree that the candidates will be divided by age. Based on the NBC preview photographs, it looks as if Jennifer W. and Mark are on the same team, so no division by gender. If the teams are divided by age, the division would likely be 22-28 years old, and 29 +. This puts Adam, Brian, Chris, Clay, James, Jennifer M., Kristi, Marshawn and Rebecca in the first group, and Alla, Jennifer W., Josh, Mark, Markus, Melissa, Randal, Felisha and Toral in the second group.

As far as the other questions, I haven't gotten too far yet. For question #3, the answer is unlikely to be "an unlimited credit card," since that would be a hugely unfair advantage, or "being New Yorkers," since (I think) there's only two candidates from New York in this group. [ETA: correction, three New Yorkers.] Maybe "faster transportation"?

For number 5, I'm thinking Alla is the candidate that the other team members find difficult to stomach. My initial impression of her is that she's inclined to be obnoxious.

I also think that Markus won't be around long, although perhaps he won't be fired this week or next week. He has that "offbeat creative entrepreneur" air about him that marks him for an early exit.

I just read your updated post, AmberDawn, and I'm also inclined to think it's Adam or Markus. If the teams are divided by age, then Adam (as the youngest) and Markus (as the oldest) would be on different teams. Maybe the younger teams loses, and Adam is the likeliest firee for this week?

P.S. Bren's new Yahoo!site column is posted here. Snark supreme--in fact, if this column sets the tone for the rest of the season, he'll be the harshest snarker yet, of the various commentators. Some samples:

Alla
Oh my God, where do I start? Apparently, "Alla" is Russian for "Vegas Stripper." Don't get me wrong. After all, I am a former prosecutor and a current member of the criminal defense bar. I hold a special place in my heart for those engaged in the, um, performing arts. I'm curious, did Marky B install a pole in the suite just for you? Did the boys get any two-for-one specials on lap dances? Don't worry folks; Alla has thick skin. It's a trait found in all reptiles.

Brian
Finally, someone who is shorter than me. Your height (or lack thereof) doesn't bother you like it used to? Oh really? Is that why you are five feet one AND A HALF inches? Actually, this guy has staying power. The Donald likes to keep short people around him. Why do you think I lasted so long?

Jennifer M.
Oh how Donnie has doted on you. I bet you just love the attention. Darlin' ...anything short of walking on water will be a real disappointment.

Hi everyone. My spoilering will be far more limited this season than last. My main source has moved on, and what I have left is not much - someone who is involved with some, but not all of the production. I know nothing about Episodes 1 or 2. But I do know something about Episode 3 that allows me to make the following spoilers:

1. Rebecca is seen in Episode 3 having been injured. I understand she was injured during a reward in the previous task. Thus, Rebecca is not fired in the first 2 episodes, and her team wins episode 2.
2. Episode 3 does not involve Dick's Sporting Goods (it involves old people, actually - senior centers, I think). Thus, we know Rebecca makes it past Episode 3, too (and Josh, if he was who was spotted in the Dick's Sporting Goods task).
3. Markus is seen in Episode 3. Therefore, he isn't fired in the first two episodes, either.
4. My source mentioned one other guy from Episode 3, but I cannot remember if it was Jacob, James, or Josh. Sorry.

That's all I have. I am of absolutely no help on the Yahoo questions. Unless, that is, you subscribe to Amber Dawn's process of elimination. Then I just helped you figure out who is fired in Episode 1!
gastrolyor
I think Bren is my new Internet Husband.

For the fantasy game, my guess would actually be on "being New Yorkers." Transportation for the candidates has always seemed to be fairly equal -- they seem to be either in cars provided by the show or at the mercy of the city. If they're doing a street-hustling task (...again), then it would make sense that the group with the most New Yorkers would be perceived to be at an advantage.
