Just because. Looks like somebody tried to give her some direction tonight and it came out awful silly looking. "Mr. Trump.." (simpering stare) "will see you now."
That was another weird moment in this episode.

I'll have to pay closer attention. I thought it was always the same shot of her saying the same line, like they taped her once and edit her into each show. Someone keep track of whether her hair/outfit changes week to week.

Jan 22, 2004 @ 3:51 pm
I never paid attention to the different outfits she's worn, but I'm pretty sure they film her each time, rather than just using the same shot. I think the episode with Sam crawling around on the floor had one shot with both Sam and Robin in it. And also last night Robin definitely spoke her line in a very strange way, different than the past two times at least. I wouldn't put it past the producers to have her dressed the same way each week even though it is a different shot.

Her weird stares go with the whole "Survivor" theme, or whatever you want to call it.
First of all, the area in which she sits looks like a movie set. It can't be real. They had to create it for the show, right? Yea. It's so dark in there and set-up weird. And then they enter this dark room, lit only by spotlights, music playing those stupid "dun dun duns".... everyone is serious... the donald enters from a pitch black room.
Ugh... that whole set-up annoys me. But like I was saying, it's not surprise the secretary looks so weird. She calls them at 6am with their missions! What kind of secretary does that?!

Maybe she gets overtime. At a minimum, I hope she gets to call them from her home at that hour.

She gives me the creeps ...
I'm pretty sure she says something different each week, so it's not just one shot (last week, I griped to Mr. Blevins that she said "You can ..." rather than "You may...", this week Mr. Blevins griped about some other linguistic nitpick, though she also said 'can').
I'm glad that others are of the opinion that the boardroom/outer office must be a set, or at least tweaked to appear as one. No-one could work with those dim lights! It's one thing to want to intimidate people you might be making deals with, it's another entirely to hamper your own employees' abilities to work. I would guess Trump didn't get rich by preferring office appearance over practicality. That sort of thinking seemed to die with the dotcoms.

I believe she's a receptionist, not a secretary.
However I was very impressed that she was able to listen to Sam's hallway of shame antics for three weeks in a row without cracking up or throwing up. Assuming that's where the guys were really sitting (they could have been "edited" into her space).

The NY Times this week said the boardroom is a TV set, and is many floors below Trump's actual offices. Therefore, I wonder if Robin is an actress, not a Trump employee.
This week I swear she actually called him "Mrs. Trump" when he said to send the three in. I replayed it twice and heard "Mrs. Trump" again, and then I checked the captions (which bizarrely read "Mr. Thumbp"!).
Wonder what twisted her tongue that way.

Well, duh! obviously the "boardroom" complete the little deskset in front of the the Donald is a set. And if Robin is not an actress then she is certainly doing her Apprentice thing on extra time because she never has anything else to do.
I couldn't find anything on
imdb.com to enlighten us. Curiously, Nick and Donald are the only cast members listed. Nick presumably because he's the only person with previous movie or TV credits. Apparently he appeared on Dog Eat Dog in 2002.

It really is "Mr. Trump." I promise. She has a really heavy accent, and it comes out almost like Mithhh-ter Trump, which ends up sounding a lot like Mrs. Trump (it's hard to explain, but I just watched it three times in a row). Her heavy accent is the reason I think Robin is a person who actually works for Trump, and that Trump asked her if she wanted to be on television. I think subconsciously that's why I called her a "secretary" in the thread title- I think I almost assumed that Robin had been pulled out of Trump's regular secretarial pool. Of course, I could be completely wrong. But why else would you cast someone who has trouble reading single sentences into the camera?
ok, now I keep hearing Mrs. Trump again and again. Hmm. I still really think it has something to do with her inability to enunciate the "st" part of mister.

What gets me is her utter LACK of personality. I'm not saying she needs to be taking attention away from the contestants, but geez would it be too hard to smile once??? Show a bit of humanity? You don't get more roles by being a sourpuss.
She also dresses pretty unbusinesslike. Trump & the Viceroys dress appropriately but Robin seems to be just out of bed-especially during the first episode. Recently, however, she did seem to have had her hair done.
She bugs.

I agree that she just seems irritated by the Apprentices. Assuming she really is sitting there and it wasn't just a bunch of prefilmed "you can go in now," she probably listens to all the dorkwad things they say to each other and busts out laughing at them when they go back to the Boardroom.
And this last time, she actually said, "you guys can go in now," which strikes me as INCREDIBLY unprofessional, especially at the level these people are competing at.

And this last time, she actually said, "you guys can go in now," which strikes me as INCREDIBLY unprofessional, especially at the level these people are competing at.
I see your point but when you consider all the idiotic conversations she's overheard and all the bitchy, angry, and insane (think Sam) behavior, I'd bet that she's lost a lot of respect for these so-called apprentices. Also, it may be a choice she made to try and make them a little more comfortable with their situation. And finally, since there were two guys and one female for this epi, she may have been opting for a generic way to refer to them all at once. "You guys" being construed as generic up there.
But, to be really snarky, she ought to be saying, "You MAY go in now." After all, we all see that they
can go in. The point is that they've been given permission to enter and that requires
may, not
can. Think of the childhood game
Mother, May I. In the case of admittance to the Boardroom it's,
Mr. Trump, may I?

Either last week (art gallery) or the week before (Trump Ice) I noticed a huge-ass Rolodex on Robin's desk in one shot -- for a moment I was surprised, because it's been several years since I've seen a Rolodex on anyone's desk. Everyone has their contacts on their Palm or cell phone or whatever. But then I remembered reading that Trump preferred paper to electronic in most things. Anyway, it amused me to think that said Rolodex was perhaps not just a prop, but rather that Robin's actually being put to work during the long periods where they're setting up the lighting, etc. And that if they didn't bother with a LAN connection in the faux business suite, the Rolodex would be more practical.

You're right, she really ought to be more careful -- Omarosa certainly seems not to have understood that entering the boardroom requires permission. I'm sure if Robin hadn't led her astray at past boardrooms, she wouldn't have barged right in when she realized "hey, I *can* go in now."

I'm kinda disappointed that there wasn't more Robin interference with Asso's barging into the Boardroom. I'd envision one of those scenes from Dynasty or something when the angry ex-wife barges past her husband's secretary, who cries "You can't go in there!" and then follows her into the office and says "I'm sorry...I couldn't stop her. Should I call Security, Mr. Trump?"

Did anyone catch "the best week ever" on VH1 this past week? They were saying that Robin is the best part of the show and that she could be hosting her own show within the next couple of months. I would like to see her hosting something along the lines of Wild On - I bet she would give Cindy Taylor a run for her money! I hope at the very least she has a much bigger part in the Apprentice II assuming her career hasn't taken off to the next level by then. I think Trump and Burnett are smart enough to realize that she is by far the hottest woman on the show and won't let her get away.

OK, so I used to work in a job in which our office received regular calls from Donald, and the assistant who placed the calls for him was named Robin. I never met her, and it was long enough ago that I don't really recall her voice, but there is a strong likelihood that the woman on the show is his actual personal assistant. In which case, all of the oddness is probably just the natural result of a real person unaccustomed to performing on camera. (And who, unlike everyone else on the show, has to do it so little that she never really gets used to it).

Robin is a receptionist. She answers phones and announces people. (shrug) Sometimes she calls people. I don't see her role as having to chat with the Apprentices as they sit in the lobby, and I don't see why they need to get into her life. That lobby was designed especially for the show; it's not the real reception area.
DT has 3 assistants that sit outside his office. His Exec Assistant is a woman named Nora or Norma, her last name begins with F I believe, and she has been with him a long time.
There is an article "What it really like to work for Donald Trump" that explains all this.

We didn't get to see her wave good-bye to Troy in the last episode though. Her waving was in the previews with 'someone's dream ends' or whatever in the background. Hey, to the guys out there.
Is it my imagination or has our Robin gotten much more interesting over the weeks we've seen her. Maybe it is that she is more comfortable now in front of the camera, but she was really looking great when she told Bill & Kwame to go in before the last task assignment....kinda flirty & coy. And there was more personality in her voice.
I think it's great to see someone blossom on screen...you go, Robin! I'm just happy to see a female who has made us all look better over the weeks, instead of worse, ya know! Except for the wonderful Carolyn, these other "ladies" on this show have not represented us very well as a whole.

Hey, Robin earns her "side of sass" tag. From TV Guide Online's 11 "secrets" of the show (that some of us already know) at
TV Guide Insider:
7. The secretary is not a robot. She's an actual human being named Robin Himmler, and she has served as Trump's executive assistant for the last four years. "She was really nice," says Heidi, "but you could have a booger in your nose and she'd say, 'Mr. Trump is ready to see you'." Fires back Himmler: "It wasn't my job to take care of Heidi's personal hygiene." Oooh, another catfight!
Sharp quip, huh?

Calm yourself down a little, Wrigley! After all, if you're a receptionist, even on a fake set, you really don't have too much to do to occupy your time. Checking out the guys is probably the highlight of her day.
What I would like to see is for her to actually get up from behind the desk and do a piroutte for the cameras. Maybe if she did that she could get one of those big money offers from Playboy.

I was pissed that Robin did not get an acknowledgement in the live portion of the finale. Trump should have called her on to the stage for a bow (Really, I just want get her out from behind that desk for a full viewing.)
For that matter, it wouldn't have hurt to parade Melania around a bit. She did have a recurrent role on the series. Not that there was any reason to do so, but it just wouldn't have hurt. But I digress.

Actually, the 'yooge' Rolodex is for real. I read one of the articles about Trump and his assistants (Norma is the 'head executive assistant') and he prefers them to all use the old-fashioned Rolodexes. So it wasn't just a prop for the show.
