As much as I love the Syd/Faux Francie fight, I have major love for any and all Syd/Anna Espinosa fights. The fight on the ladder kicked some ass.
Genrewriter
Hmm, where to begin?

Anything with Xena and Callisto, I'm partial to the chariot fight simply because it reminds me of the boat chase in Face/Off.

Alias: Sydney vs. Faux Francie is great, one of the best fights I've seen in any tv show or movie for that matter.

24: I agree with the consensus on Jack's fight with the misc. guard. Quick, tough and brutal. I'd also love to see more of it this season.
WildBoar
I really liked the big wide open fight in the Initiative's base during the season 4 finale in Buffy. Not the fight with Adam, but when they were running through the huge open area, explosions going off everywhere, bodies flying through the air, lots of people involved.
HexLover
I love the fight between SuperBuffy and ADAM. It's one of my favorite parts of season 4.
Slashgirl
Bumping this up with the fight between Buffy & Glory in The Gift.Buffy slammed Glory with Olaf's hammer so hard, it's a wonder it didn't register on the Richter Scale. Giles' finishing off Ben was an added bonus.
Lutanite
Graduation Day Part II finale; most cathartic, feel good fight ever.

Xena v. Callisto's epic struggle over Gabrielle & Joxer -- most breath taking.

Big word to the Hercules/Xena foley artists, especially when indicating the hero had just used someone else's leg to kick someone.

But the most satisfying might be in Farscape, when John beat the crap out of Scorpius's double, Harvey, inside John's own head.
Slashgirl
Bumping this up again with the Lana/Chloe fight in the "Delete" episode of Smallville. For those who haven't seen it, despite her recently broken leg, Wan-a was told by an e-mail to kill Chloe & started a knock-down, drag-out fight with her at school, in front of hundreds of witnesses who did nothing to stop it. Worse, Wan-a didn't even get arrested, let alone expelled. Call me old-fashioned, but I thought that *attempted murder* was grounds for expulsion, to say the least.

The Angel/Lindsay fight in the "You're Welcome" episode of Angel was pretty kick-ass, too.
HexLover
Buffy vs Caleb in Chosen. You've got to love any fight that ends with Caleb being cut in half.
Gwynevere1
Have to add my love of any Buffy vs. Faith fight.

I also love the Ministers of Grace vs. the Beast fight in "Reign of Fire" (aka "Apocalypse, Nowish") episode of Angel. Gunn with the hubcap ax, Wes slow-motion with double pistols, Angel doing his Matrix moves. Plus the good guys lost. How often does that happen?
KaveDweller
From the end of season 1 of Alias, Syd's fight with Sark using that sword-like weapon. And then her fight in the club when she rescues Will and beats the crap out of everyone in the room.

The fight from last week's Smallville was good too, but I still think almost every fight from Alias tops it.
JRV
And the fight between Bright Abbott and Tommy "Eyebrows" McCrackhead, intercut with a highschool wrestling tournement, made a recent Everwood episode memorable.
sorority
Paul vs. The-Crazy-Kid in Miracles (I think it was in "Hand of God"). Because it looked so damn real, I was hurting just from watching it.
quotidian
What? Is there no love at all for the "South Park" fight between Robert Smith from The Cure vs. Barbra Streisand in the fight for the Triangle of Zinthar?
Slashgirl
Bumping this up again with the Shane/Tevon fight in this week's episode of The Shield. It was both realistic & graphic.

I am all about any and every fight scene that involves Captain James T. Kirk.
temp drone
How about the fight between Brandon Walsh and Nikki's abusive, lead-singing ex-bf (played hilariously by David Arquette) on 90210 ? That one had it all-- melodrama, a beautifully-thrown punch, an un-ironic use of the word "chump"...
cinemagotham
Word to anything with Faith and Alias fights from back when they did them (plus extra points for the "cripple fight" and Beecher dropping a hot lunch on Schillinger)

One of the toughest fights I've seen on TV wasn't really much of a fight at all: When the finger cutter (Donny Pfister) abducts Scully (can't remember if it was for the first or second time; I suspect first) and she tries to get away, he really kicks her ass. I mean he REALLY lays into her. He smashes her against a mirror and, even though the scene isn't gory, there's something so visceral about a large man beating the crap out of such a small woman that's just extra disturbing and upsetting. That's one of the most violent things I think I've ever seen on network television.
jadefox
I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Buffy S6 finale fight between Buffy and Willow...."you need every square inch of your ass kicked"....indeed.

Yes. The bizarre bag of tricks that Shatner and the stunt team came up with (the two-legged jump kick! the two-handed hammerblow!) was always entertaining, though hardly practical (I lost many a playground fight trying to bring those off).

The fight I liked best, though, was the the ritual combat between Kirk and Spock in "Amok Time". Even though the series just seems to get campier and campier with hindsight, there was not a shred of playfulness here. Kirk, maneuvered into battling in the thin Volcanian atmosphere with a Spock who was in mortal heat, lost to his emotions, and armed with that awful quarterstaff with an axe blade on one end and a bludgeon on the other. It was sweaty, emotional, and mean, and beautifully staged, shot, and edited (note Kirk's slow, horrified realization that he can't reason with Spock and has to grapple like a madman to avoid getting killed). It's so convincing that the final twist is a complete surprise on first viewing and a joy even on later ones.

I think all the Connor and Angel fights were good, but my all time favourite has to be the one in Home when Angel beats down his son and then... kills him.
HeadCase
Arrested Development gets my Funniest Fight Ever award. The courthouse fight between GOB and Michael over Marta - with Buster trying to get into the middle of it, Lucille simply driving off while her sons try to beat the crap out of each other and George Sr. making a run for freedom only to end up back in his cell. Michael's attempt to swing into a tree is my favorite fight move of all time.

I loved the hammerblow too! And the music that went with the fights? Brilliant!

the "Time Amok" Kirk/Spock fight was THE most spectacular one of the entire series.

I lost many a playground fight trying to bring those off

you and me both, Mr. Excitement.

This? Hilarity at its primetime best in many a year. I was crying because I was laughing so hard at this scene.
Slashgirl
Bumping this up with the fight featuring Sydney & her long-lost sister Nadia vs. the Chechnian (sp?) prison guards in "Blood Ties," this week's Alias episode.
Brahmsian
It's "Chechens" rather than "Chechnians", Slashgirl. Which is a bit odd considering that their country is called "Chechnia", but life is full of oddities isn't it?
Phred62
Buffy vs Caleb in Chosen. You've got to love any fight that ends with Caleb being cut in half.

That rocked! Plus we got the added bonus of Angel leaning back watching and telling Caleb "You are so gonna lose."
Raguel
The bizarre bag of tricks that Shatner and the stunt team came up with (the two-legged jump kick! the two-handed hammerblow!) was always entertaining, though hardly practical

Best fight in this vein was the battle Kirk had with that giant oaf alien in "Gamesters of Triskelion." Not a great ep (hoo-boy!), but that fight was/is an awesome display of Kirk's skeelz as a brawler.

Oh, man. That was quite the episode, Raguel, and our boy James T. certainly put his mad skillz on display.

But the rest of it? To this day, my brother and I still like to joke with the "I bid (insert random number) quatloos..." line.
Blucasbabe
I especially like the Faith/Buffy fight in Grad Day, part I. The camera work, especially at the beginning, makes it look so awesome. I remember sitting on the couch thinking, 'But Buffy can't kill a human!'
Aiden
I liked when Angel and Riley beat the crap out of one another in The Yoko Factor. There was a great piece of camera work at the beginning, when the angle rotated around them as the fight began. Made it feel more interactive and visceral.

I also, for some reason, seem to remember a lot of great fight scenes in Birds of Prey. I think they're memorable for me because the show aired circa Season Six Buffy, which saw some of the most poorly choreographed, poorly shot fight scenes I'd ever seen. But that's for another thread. :)

Peter Griffin vs. The Man In the Chicken Suit in the Y2K episode of Family Guy
"Cripple Fight" (Jimmy vs. Timmy) from South Park was absolutely brilliant!  As a person with a disability, I was laughing hysterically the whole time!

Word, not only was it funny as hell, but it was an epic fight scene in general.
catharsis
I liked when Angel and Riley beat the crap out of one another in The Yoko Factor.

Word! I was watching it thinking, "Hooray, Angel speaks for us all!" Poor Riley, he's the love interest personality forgot. Pity.

Peter Griffin vs. The Man In the Chicken Suit in the Y2K episode of Family Guy

Yes. Also, Chris vs. the lamp, in episode "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein." Mad props also to the entire Griffin family fight that lasted forever.

I wanted to also reiterate how amazing the fight between Syd and Faux Francie was for Alias, and the Buffy/Faith fight on BtVS. Mainly I just love catfights. The O.C.'s fight between Julie and Hailey, for instance: nice.
Jael
On Andromeda, any fight involving Tyr Anasazi.

(okay, I love any scene involving Tyr Anasazi, but we'll just keep it to the fights for topic).
Cynic
I loved the fights between Alec(or even Ben) and Max on Dark Angel. I especially loved the one where Alec was cagefighting and Max steps into the ring with him. Alec wouldn't fight her initially so Max just keeps taking these cheap shots at him with people cheering and crazy music in the background. For some reason, it seriously gets me going. When he finally has enough and hits her, it's so awesome! I usually cheer and rewind it several times since I can't stand Jessica Alba anyway. Sadly, the fight is cut way to short and Max wins in the cheapest way possible, but in my mind Alec kicks her ass but good for really long time instead.
Pooki
I loved the fight between Angel and his team versus the evil puppets in the Angel episode ‘Smile Time’. It's a shame it didn't go on longer.

And the fight between Janine and Laura Beale on last night's EastEnders was great. In my house we were totally cheering Janine on. I hate Laura, she just looks like Gollum.
Slashgirl
The O.C's fight between Julie and Hailey: nice.

That was great, but the fight between Jimmy & Caleb (or Caleb-zeebub, as I call him) was even better.
Slashgirl
Bumping this up with the fight between Deadwood's Seth Bullock & Pa Russell, Alma's sleazy father. Seth not only cussed Pa out, he whupped him in the bar & had him ran out of town. If that's not ass-kicking, then I don't know what is. (LOL)
Phenobarbara
Any fight scene with Sydney Bristow during Season One and Two of Alias.
The 2nd Evil
Syd Vs. Allison-Alias, The Telling

Buffy Vs. Faith- BTVS, Graduation Day Part One

Connor Vs. Angel, Groo, & Gunn-Angel, A New World

Connor & Angel Vs. Tyke's goons-Angel, A New World

Connor Vs. Angel-Angel-Tomorrow

MOG Vs. The Beast-Angel, Apocalypse, Nowish

Buffy Vs. Willow-BTVS-Two To Go

Angel Vs Jasmine-Angel, Peace Out

Connor Vs. Jasmine -Angel, Peace Out

Connor Vs. Angel- Angel, Home

Syd Vs. Lauren Reed-Alias, Ressuruction

Connor Vs. Sahjhan-Angel, Origin

Cyvus Vail Vs. Illyria- Angel, Not Fade Away

Angel & Connor Vs. Marcus Hamilton- Angel, Not Fade Away

I liked a lot of the fights on Angel in case you couldn't tell. Although, technically, two of them were on punch utter destruction rather than fights.
alliterator
Angel and the MoG fighting Satan in Rain of Fire is possibly one of the best fight scenes I have ever seen.
LMS
Yeah, that Apocalypse, Nowish fight was quite possibly the most beautiful thing to air on TV: the choreography, the setting on the roof-top, the weapons (swords, hubcap axes and big ass guns) - and of course, the Rain of Fire (awsome special effect, that was).

Another nifty Angel-fight is in Origin when Angel fights these two demons and first flips one big ass demon onto a car, and then snaps its neck. This is followed by lifting the other big ass demon over his head and almost breaking it in half over his knee. The loud snapping of bones whas an added bonus. As was Connor's reaction. That was awsome, indeed.

Dark Angel had some great fights, they always had awsome choreography. Anytime Jessica Alba's character had to fight her genetically enhanced brothers and sisters it was a treat.

And I second (or third, or tossibly, fourth) the cheesy, soapy awsomeness of the Alexis/Chrystal fights. Hee.
holeybubushka
Ok, my favorite Fight scene is between Spike and Nikki on the sub way train in Fool For Love". The setting (The Sub way Train) is awesome as the light goes dark when they go through tunnels, they used the metal bars from the train. Visually, its my favorite ever but its even better when the fight scene is intercut with the faux fight scene with Buffy and the culmination of the fight(*Where Spike speaks directly to the camera then brutally snaps her head) Its breath taking

The second favorite is the final fight scene in Choosen because of the epic score and how brutal it felt. Despite its relatively small budget and time constraints Joss did a great job with the scene with goes along way to making that epsiode better(IMO) than the fight scene in "Graduation Day Part Two)
HalfDutch
I have to also give it up for the Francinator vs. Sydney fight on Alias. Brutal and fantastic.

Also, Buffy when she and Faith threw down for the first time, that was awesome.

Lindsay vs. Angel was also great. I can't remember the episode title, but it was the one where Lindsay drives up in his old truck, gets a shovel out of the back and just goes to town on Angel. Yeah! And Lindsay was wearing his cowboy boots. Somehow it just made it even better. Although much love for the Blade-esque, open-shirted swordfight of HoYay the last season.

And any kind of gladiatorial fight, no matter how cheesy (ahem, Star Trek), gets my love, especially if there are large-bladed axes involved. And tridents. And nets. They did it on Angel one ep. And a Star Trek contemporary show, The Wild, Wild West also managed to work in a gladiatorial combat. James West was always a fighting machine, but after JFK's assassination, they had to tone down the violence, which is a crying shame!

And Groundskeeper Willie vs. the Wolf on The Simpsons. Hee. I love that Scot so much!
AndyCake
What about Bart vs Millhouse in that episode of The Simpsons where Bart, Millhouse and Martin by the first edition of Radioactive man and end up fighting over it in Bart's treehouse.... loved it!

Homer vs Bart's "Big Brother" at the aquarium was another classic TV fight, especially whenBart and Homer make up at the end and Homer tells Bart how to pretend you're too hurt to fight on and get the other guy.
AzureOwl
I was reminded lately of one of the greatest TV fight scenes I remember. It was the kickboxing match between Gabrielle and Varia in Xena: Warrior Princess. I think that the fact that both actresses did almost all of it without stunt-people contributed to the quality of it. The fact that both of them were in incredible shape didn't hurt either.
VersesBatman
Nellie Olsen and Laura Ingalls in the mudhole.

The bizarre bag of tricks that Shatner and the stunt team came up with (the two-legged jump kick! the two-handed hammerblow!) was always entertaining, though hardly practical

And I'd like to add to the list Futurama's great spoof of the Kirk/Spock fight, where Fry fights Dr. Zoidberg armed with a giant nutcracker.

But, I've since learned that at least one favorite Shatner technique is actually a very traditional judo move. Officially it's called a circle throw, but thanks to Star Trek nearly everyone calls it the "Captain Kirk."

Maybe someday Buffy will get a move named in her honor. She deserves no less.
lobster02
From Veronica Mars, 2.09 My Mother, The Fiend. Awesome fight scene between Weevil and Logan in the boys bathroom. Total guilty pleasure.
espie
I hate Laura, she just looks like Gollum.

Bwah! We don't get EastEnders here anymore, but ITA, and if we did we'd be rooting for Janine too.
Namaste
Nellie Olsen and Laura Ingalls in the mudhole.

Did you see the TV Land Confidential episode where Alison Arngrim noted (and they confirmed in slo/mo) that Melissa Gilbert shoved a handful of mud into her mouth mid-fight?
