Re the Nick article: This was already discussed briefly a couple pages back. And the general consensus is that it doesn't really mean anything because, as already mentioned, a lot of contestants from these type of shows go back to work in the time between the filming and the airing of the finale. I mean, I would suppose they would have to. There are reports of Amy and Troy back at work, too, so I'm not sure it means anything (mainly because I'd be shocked if at least one of Amy, Troy or Nick aren't in the finale).

Not a lawyer, but I do have some experience with trademark registration.
You don't have to invent a word or phrase in order to trademark it. You do have to indicate that you expect to have some sort of financial or business use for it. So by Trump trying to register "You're Fired!", people can still say it, but if they want to put it on a T-shirt or something and sell it, they have to deal with Trump first.
Trump would have to file a separate application for the anticipated uses (T-shirt, beer label, what have you); each one of those costs several hundred dollars, I forget the exact amount. It's in place that way to discourage some average person from just trademarking every thing he/she can think up; also, if it turns out that someone has already trademarked your desired word or phrase, you're still out the application fee.
A lot of times, and I would bet in this case, companies or prominent individuals don't trademark/copyright stuff because they themselves plan to use it, but to prevent others from making money off of something they do or is associated with them.
ETA-- I see Trump has included "casino services" in his anticipated uses, so maybe he wants to start a line of "You're Fired!" slot machines or invent a new card game in which the dealers "fire" the losing players. Would they have to wear Hair Hats?

PLAYBOY SNIPPET/SPOILERNow, this just seems to be sloppy journalism. Or a plant.
Netscape.net has posted an article in their "Daily Whisper" column about the 4 women from the Apprentice who were asked to pose for Playboy. But the column plainly states "Trump may not have wanted them...." and has a picture of Ereka, Amy, Kristi and Katrina beside it.

So add author and political commentator to the rather long list of activities she claims to be involved in, or has expressed an interest in doing in the future. *Shudder*
When does this woman find time to finish the doctoral program that we've heard so much about? I mean, I'm not doing half the things she is, am only a part-time doctoral student, and still can't find the time to do as much research as I should be. Still, Manigault-Stallworth said she watches the show, which will end with a live two-hour finale on April 15. "I may be the black sheep of that family, but I'm certainly a part of that family."

Ooooh. That really burns. She can make a federal trial out of the use of "pot calling the kettle black" but she calls herself a "black sheep." It was either a case of O intentionally blowing something way out of proportion on purpose, or one of those things where "I can disparage myself but no one else can." Still, really, really irritating.
Personally, (and I'm speaking as a white woman) I think I would avoid the phrase "black sheep" around someone with black or dark skin before I would stop using the "pot/kettle" chestnut. The first seems more directly offensive to me. But then, I'm not exactly qualified to judge.

Oh, oK, Omarosa. Now I get it.
There is a vast White Wing conspiracy against you. Ereka, the other female contestants, the male contestants, Mark Burnett, the cameramen, the editors, and Donald himself.
You were called every name in the book, including the "n word" and NO one caught it? Or people caught it and everyone ignored it? Or were people signing to you or speaking Sanskrit and no one else but you interpreted?

I think I'm going to be sick.
"Access Hollywood" has celebrety ass-kisser extraordinaire Billy Bush dress up in a bright blue cowboy suit and a fake mustache and pretend to apply at the NYC open casting call for "Apprentice 2", under the name "Robert Broom". While sitting at the interview table next to some hapless applicant, he voice overs about "Sweet Carolyn", and on-screen reaches across the table and starts rubbing Carolyn's forearm.
Of course it was a setup on the audience, not Trump and the viceroys. Trump pulls out this speech about not being fooled and knowing it was Bush, but basically this was Bush's specialty--a horrible comedy skit in place of actual entertainment reporting.

I don't understand. Now Omarosa must be maligned for attending a brunch? Or for answering questions? What the hell? If her 15 minutes of fame are up, why is everyone on these boards still talking about her?
She is leading people down the primrose path towards believing what she says by having them use their experiences against the women instead of letting the facts speak for themselves.
What facts? Besides the two of them, nobody knows what was said. I actually don't care whether Ereka called her a nigger or not. That's a she said/she said thing that will never be resolved to anyone's satisfaction.
Tashanir
Mar 18, 2004 @ 8:26 pm
Ereka, fired by Trump on Week 8 for letting her emotions dictate her business decisions, denies she used the word (and producers say it wasn't heard in a full review of the tapes). "Omarosa, my darling, this show is not a conspiracy against you," says Ereka. "Please get some professional help."
I can't even begin to express my hatred of Ereka. The above quote is from a People magazinee article posted on the O. thread.
What Ereka doesn't seem to get is that if this whole allegation hadn't come up...the press would be completely ignoring her. Meaning, the press has no interest in her outside of this issue. Something tells me both these women will be holding on to this scandal for as long as they can. I just wish someone would tell both them of them that that is NOT a good thing.
RhondaGC
Mar 18, 2004 @ 8:30 pm
I agree that Ereka had to go out and defend herself when the allegations were first made. If she hadn't, she would have been condemned for not protesting enough. But I think it's to the point now that, she has defended herself fairly coherently (well, coherent for Ereka) and has been supported by all TPTB. So I think if she just shuts up and goes about her normal life the whole thing would just go away. Instead, she keeps it alive, perhaps just to stay in the spotlight as you suggest. If she really was interested in being cleared of the allegations, though, she should stop now. From what I can tell, very few people are giving O's allegations any credence and so I think Ereka has won. If she could just keep her damn face off TV!

That's a she said/she said thing that will never be resolved to anyone's satisfaction.
And that's exactly what Assorama was shooting for.
I mentioned "the facts" as in there is nothing whatsoever to support Assorama's extremely serious allegation. MB, DT, the crew and the rest of the contestants say it didn't happen. During the time in which Omarosa said the event occured, the women were returning home from a reward, so the event either happened at the airport or on a plane. The contestants are constantly miked and they had a camera crew on them. Omarosa claimed the comment "was edited out", not "wasn't captured on film" or "said while the cameras were off". Her own words state that she was called a nigger in full view of the cameras and Mark Burnett and Donald Trump not only chose not to air it, but are now participating in a coverup and a big "get Omarosa" conspiracy.

a.) Because as long as mass media outlets keep covering it, there's cause to talk about it here. It's not going to go away simply because we ignore those articles
b.) Because Omarosa's bad behavior raises topical issues which go beyond merely saying how much she stinks.

Loved the George and Carolyn article. But I found this to be by far the most enlightening quote. It's from Carolyn talking about the women using the "sex sells" tactics for the first four tasks:
``But when they use it time after time, by the fourth episode, the only thing I knew about these women is that they look cute in short skirts. They hadn't really shown me anything. I was looking to see more out of them. By the fourth episode, I walked into Donald's office and I told him my thoughts, and we agreed, `Let's do something about this now.' And it is brains, not beauty, that will lead to the ultimate apprentice.''
Aha! So the great smack-down was Carolyn's idea! Boy, I just grow to love that woman more and more every week. Carolyn, will you marry me?
Also, the article says that George and Carolyn are both committed to being involved in TA2!!! (Cue heavenly chorus) Yeaaaa!! I was afraid they would try to get some other deputies who are much less charismatic and snarkalicious.

Since you asked...
I continue to remark on Omarosa's public appearances (the show, the interviews, the articles) because she continues to display a complete lack of character and her double standards and refusal to take responsibility for her actions disgust me. Expressing my feelings about her, and knowing I'm not alone, makes me feel better.
I also come here to see if anyone can make a case for her that would change my opinion of her. However, that has yet to happen.

My dad was listening to his usual bunch of radio stations on his drive to work (here in Toronto, ON) and they mentioned that even if Trump doesn't want the Apprentice winner to work for him the entire year they're entitled to, he still has to give them the year's salary. This got me thinking about the whole debate of "If these girls are posing for Playboy then that must mean they didn't win.. or did they?" I guess this reality show is just like any other reality show where the prize is just the money because how do you justify attempting to gain respect in a new workplace (if Trump hires them in the finale) while simultaneously posing for skanky mags? Maybe they're not too worried about actually staying at the Trump company?

The fired contestants
speak out in USA Today. And most of them don't get it.
David, Sam, and Kristi understand what happened and where they screwed up. Heidi mostly gets it, although I don't think she really understands why she was fired. Bowie and Jessie also mostly get it, although they, too, misunderstand what happened in the boardroom. Assy uses the opportunity to promote herself, then adds that she should have formed alliances. That's actually insightful for someone as badly deluded as she is.
Jason doesn't get it. Not at all. He has no insight and he learned nothing. He's just another pretty face who doesn't even have two brain cells to rub together. Tammy stands up for her "honesty" and doesn't understand that she was almost as weird as Sam. Ereka is badly deluded, thinking that she didn't set Nick up properly and that otherwise she'd still be there.
In other words, no surprises other than Assy's comment on alliances.

I either read or heard that the salary will be paid in two increments, in the event that things don't go well the first six months they won't have to pay the second six months. I wonder which of these two is correct.
The thing I'm even MORE curious about, however, is what Trump means when he says they'll be running one of his companies. I'm assuming it would have to be a new company and if so, I DO hope it's not some lame duck dealie.

What I had read was the the $250,000 was a one year salary of $125,00, with the remainder as a bonus if the candidate 'successfully completes' the year.
Is it just be or does $125,000 sound like an awfully low baseline for the salary of a company president in New York city? Hell, half of that will go to rent and living expenses, unless they're living in something small like the apartments they were renovating.
