Speaking of wacky Trump commercials, in addition to the wacky Verizon commercial, tonight there also appeared a joint Apprentice Finale/Miss USA pageant commercial, with the phrase "yoooge" prominent, and a surprise ending where Sam Solovey shows up in a dress to compete for Miss USA (spoiler tagged to preserve humor, because if you want to be surprised just wait for the commercial to replay.

That commercial killed, laughed so hard I pulled a muscle.

I just received my Mar 22nd US Weekly and read the "Why Assorama's Angry Now" article and all I have to say is...HATE (tm Shack). That woman is pure evil personified.

The worst:
Q: Do you regret insinuating that teammate Ereka Vetrini was a racist?
A: Her aggression was amazingly violent. She lives in her mother's basement now - that's a statement of her accomplishments.

First, answer the question, b****! Second...violent? I do not think it means what she thinks it means. Third...really classy, Assy.

Most hysterical:
Q: A piece of plaster fell on your head. Was it really that bad?
A: I resent that question because it questions my credibility. I was walking around with a concussion. I'm not an actress - I hurt like everybody else.

First...everytime she opens her mouth we question her credibility. Second...my daughter got a concussion when she was 6 and she was was running around the next day. Third...BWAH! You'll get no pity party from me.

I want this woman off my tv and out of my magazines NOW.
RhondaGC
Aren't those, like, the same "answers" (I use the term very loosely) she's given in every single interview? It's like there's tape recorder where her brain should be which just keeps playing in a continual loop.

Man, she's exactly the kind of person who is impossible to get a straight answer out of because she is impervious to bullying or ridicule. Even if some of the tougher TV interviewers got ahold of her, I'm not sure they would make an impression. Not because they're not good, but because criticism is like water off a duck's back to her.

Wow, I mean, just, wow! I've met people who share certain characteristics with O before, but I've never, ever seen all of them meet in one person before. It's both fascinating and frightening at the same time.

Interesting analysis in the NYTimes of what The Apprentice's success means in the context of massive distrust of big business. Warning: registration required!

Thanks for posting that link, Kenn. Interesting article. I have to say, though, that it irked me when it compared Omiseria to Martha Stewart. I'm not a yoooooge Martha fan, but at least I've seen her get her hands dirty while gardening or cooking or crafting. I cannot imagine Omiseria doing anything that might sully her pageant-ready perfection.

I also found the analysis of why Trump's an acceptable corporate type as opposed to other infamous CEO's so often in the news lately.

Altogether a good article. Ah, and registration is free. You don't have to pay for articles until they're past a certain archival date.

Heidi's interview with TV Guide. May be time sensitive. I have to say, IMO she came off quite well and self-aware.
DariaG
That commercial killed, laughed so hard I pulled a muscle.

That was the best commercial ever! I couldn't believe I was seeing it. And the "Sam eyes" were hilarious. He claimed in interviews that he didn't realize what he'd done in the boardroom, so I wonder how much he had to practice to do it on command. Probably not that much, but still, can you imagine Sam standing in front of a mirror making that face over and over and over again?

The Toronto Star has an article up this morning about the success of the show, including mentions of TWoP and even a few quotes from posters:

Loved the interview with Heidi. She did come off as very lighthearted and unaffected, which is wonderful. She's still the only contestant I can imagine becoming friends with. My two favorite quotes from the interview:

But the contestant I'm actually the closest with is Sammy [Solovey].

TVGO: How'd that happen?
Heidi: I don't know. I don't know if it's because we're both Jews or because we're both pains in the asses

Hee.

TVGO: Another fan wrote in wanting to know if Omarosa really spent 18 hours in the ER.
Heidi: Omarosa did not spend 18 hours in the hospital, and I can confirm that because I was, unfortunately, on her team.

TVGO: What was her diagnosis?
Heidi: They couldn't find anything wrong! A piece of cee-ment — as she calls it — fell on her head. (Laughs) I love that. Cee-ment.

Heh. Maybe Heidi's been lurking here. I take that "Cee-ment" comment as a total shout-out to us.

Saw the commercial. It was hilarious. Although, Sam's face wasn't as good as it was on the show.
erinjsnark
I know we've all seen interviews between, say, Barbara Walters and Jennifer Anniston where an odd question like "So Jennifer, how is the sex with Brad?" causes a response like "I don't feel that is an appropriate question, please move on."

I just find it strange that Omarosa is using that response to answer questions about her trauma and behavior. Rather than looking like a respectable, semi-private individual, she gives off the air of being untouchable and special in a way that she doesn't have to answer for her actions.

Asking Jennifer about sex with Brad? Inappropriate.
Asking Omarosa about her rude and questionable behavior -- behavior that was caught on tape? Completely appropriate and should be answered. If she's so stuck on being classy, then why can't she just answer the questions rather than trying to make the interviewer look like the least classiest one in the room? It seems to backfire on her everytime.
kattam6175
Something's fishy here. Both Heidi and Assy claim to be good friends with Sam now that the show is over. Is Sam playing both sides or is Assy exaggerating yet again. I vote for both.

My favorite part of the Heidi interview was when she was talking about the secretary. Heidi said booger. Hee!
goobaletta
Woohoo! Kromm was quoted in the Toronto Star article! And that article was quite good, btw. One of the better one's I've read. Thanks for posting the link, KillerBunny.

No, in Sam's interviews, he says that he is closest to Omarosa.

At this point, IMO, I don't think that anything Omarosa says or does will help her. If you liked her on the show, you'll probably still like her after the interviews and media articles. If you hated her on the show, then her interviews and media appearances have only fueled that hate.

My guess is that her publicist/husband/friends, etc. have told her to try to keep her mouth shut (which would be my advice). No one believes her anyway.

Since she wants to continue to be in the media spotlight, she can either do the interviews and trot out the same pat and rehearsed answers or say that it's inappropriate to answer and not comment.
yeahwhatever
I don't understand why Omarosa keeps giving interviews. She seems so damn hostile in them I can't imagine what she's thinking.
AlmondEyes
Yeahwhatever, can I just say that I love your handle? It pretty much sums up my feeling on most things, especially this mind-numbing job. But I digress.

Anyhoo, Omarosa thinks she's being clever and smart. She thinks people are laughing WITH her, not realizing that everyone is laughing AT her. Not to mention, she's displaying her leadership skills and letting us all know - again - what a trouper she is!

You wonder what Omarosa's thinking? Here's my question: what the hell are these media outlets thinking? You know, the ones who keep sticking a mike in her face and handing her more lip gloss? Man, I'd finance a study to answer that one.
goobaletta

She's NOT thinking. Nor is anyone who cares about her IRL. If she has any sense at all she'll let all the n word stuff die down and drop it, keep her mouth shut about everything else for a couple of months, work on her dissertation, and move on. Alas, I doubt she has that much sense.

I've been wondering if Black Enterprise is still running her photo on the cover of its next issue as previously reported. If I were the editor of that magazine I'd completely separate myself from O as an example of a successful black businesswoman. Because, you know, she ain't one. At all.

She is trying to get experience for her own talk show. Didn't you hear? She's in talks.

I saw her on Regis. Oma was antagonistic towards Kelly. Oma had heard she "wasn't getting any love" from Kelly. I wish Kelly would have called her on her assy behavior, but Kelly backtracked and said Oma made for great drama. Regist sort of hammed it up, sitting between Kelly and Oma. From the postings about Oma's appearance on Conan, it sounds like she alienated Conan too.

Trump "Saves" NBC

From Yahoo news. You'd think he snatched NBC from the jaws of death, but with the end of Friends, I suppose he has. They should have said he makes a yooooge difference. Heh.

It's nice to know that the genius of my Donald observations have been noted in Canada. :-) Canada rules!

Actually, ego aside, it's a good article. It totally ducked the Omarosa scandal too, which at this point is actually a pretty good thing, since it's getting tiresome.
Tashanir
You know, I hate to get all "I am Woman Hear Me Roar" but.....

It pisses me off that, in the Verizon Wireless commercial that spoofs the Apprentice, the only woman that's in the boardroom has to be shown doing that bitchy "eye roll" thing. First I'm gonna kick Heidi's ass and then Ereka's for drilling this new idea into the viewing public.
Wrigley
As I have managed to miss every single one of these new Apprentice themed commercials and promos, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not watching enough TV. And believe me, that is the last thing I'd ever realize about myself.

ETA:
Well, I spoke too soon. Saw the Verizon commercial this AM during Today. Didn't realize it would actually be DT in the ad. The reason he fired the guy made me laugh, but now I can't remember what he said. Anyone?

Also re: today's Today . . . I only caught the end of his open interview of potential contestants for TA2. Anyone have comments?
AlmondEyes
I caught the Apprentice interviews on Today but also missed seeing who made the cut. Can someone post that info? Anyone? Anyone?
kswat
I saw it, and I think it was the pretty girl who interviewed towards the end of the segment. Obviously I was watching out of the corner of my eye. She was wearing a blazer with a green top maybe?
Tashanir
The last women interviewed--Christine? Brunette. She made the cut. I wasn't impressed by any of them, especially the blonde lawyer. She seemed a little off. It's sort of funny to watch them trip all over themselves trying to impress Trump. They basically regurgitated every lesson he's given on his show. If I heard one more of them say "I love what I do" or "I think out of the box" I was going to hurl.
MommyofThree
The girl who made the cut was white with brown hair. Don't recall her name. I didn't think she was that interesting, but we'll see. :)

Interesting that Troy is speaking at Better Business Bureau luncheons. I wonder what the BBB's opinion is on the Planet Hollywood episode? (Kwame autographing stuff)

I wish we'd see more interviewers call her out for the crappy stunts she's pulled, but at the same time you know their lawyers are breathing down their necks about what a lawsuit-hungry wretch she is. I don't blame them for steering clear of any accusations. Hell, just complimenting her nice white sweater might get you a lawsuit for being a racist. Never know with that kook.
archer1267
After watching a tiny bit of the Omarosa MSNBC clip, I'm convinced that she's enjoying the shit-disturb that she's caused. No hello to the interviewer, just this big smile and the Oh, I can't believe the ruckus this has caused! comments. She knew EXACTLY what would happen once she got the ball rolling, and I bet it was a deflection technique to take the focus off of her poor performance and train the focus on Ereka and Ereka's issues.

Anyway, I'm bummed that it's a clip show this week. Heidi's departure was sort of anticlimactic and the sooner Katrina's histrionics can make Omarosa fade into ancient history, the better.
Mmm... Free Goo
For some unknown reason, Trump was on TRL today. He mentioned that Sam had acted even more psycho when he was fired than what was shown on TV. I'm not sure how much more crazy he could've been.

Oh, I just found out. Access Hollywood showed a NBC promo with The Donald, with him saying that his Miss USA pageant and the "yooge" Apprentice finale were airing in the same week. Cue Sam in a light blue sequined dress with a Miss USA sash and a bouquet of roses. Donald: "Sam, you're still fired." While I know that everybody on reality shows famewhores, it's a bit less sensical coming from a show like this, where you assume that someone is attempting to go far in the business world. Though I guess Sam knows nobody will hire him because he's known as a nut, so he may as well milk it for all its worth.
RhondaGC
Did anyone else see that the promo for next week that was shown at the end of the rerun tonight didn't even mention the fact that next week is a clipfest? Instead it said something like "there are 6 left" and then went on talking about the show in a very general way and how someone next week would be fired. I thought that was pretty cheap of them. Why couldn't they just show the promo they used last week which indicated that there would be a clipfest next week and then the Atlantic City task the next week? I guess they're tyring to get as many people as possible to watch, but I still think it was a dirty trick.

Also saw the Sam and Donald commercial tonight. Hee hee! Pretty funny! Although I don't think I laughed as hard as I did on the "I'm buying Thursdays" ad. Of course, I had been spoiled for this one and the other was unexpected, so that could be why.

Did anyone catch Carolyn & George on Fox & Friends (FoxNews) this morning? It was around 8.05am (EST)... Nothing new - Carolyn looked awesome but didn't say much - and that was mainly b/c George was quite the "chatty chuck" -- he had a lot to say. He's awesome!
surlychick
Ereka was on Z100 in NY (hate) yesterday morning. Not much to report, she spouted the usual - Omarosa is crazy-cakes. Said that she is very glad that Trump and MB stood behind her and supported her. She also mentioned that all the other girls supported her and that if she had used "that word" we would have seen the women reacting to it.

She also said that Nick was a much better strategist than she orignally suspected.

Finally, she said that she and Katrina were getting together later that day, and that they had an appointment with an agent. Also that she has had many, many job offers and she is busy interviewing.

You know...If I were Ereka, I would distance myself from the Omarosa thing as much as possible. Ereka seems to be hanging onto it as her "claim to fame." If she were really speaking with agents, they'd be telling her the exact same thing. She's not meeting with anyone...at least not anyone credible.

Oh....and her and Kat are having lunch and meeting with an agent? Wow..that would be so kewl is she and kat had the same agent and kat moved to nyc and they could live together and share clothes and do each other's hair n stuff.

Dueling Bimbos...christ. I can just hear the banjos now.

Ereka is trying desperately to "create a buzz" for herself. And we saw how successful she was at THAT now didn't we?
iMissEthan
I finally saw the Verizon ad with Trump and the mock boardroom, but haven't seen the Miss Universe clip yet. Does anyone know if it's available to view online? I'm a big flipper and rarely watch and commercials while I'm watching TV.

C'mon! She's "trying to create a buzz." After all, it worked so well with Trump Ice.
Monco
The Donald has filed to get "You're fired" trademarked. A lawyer's opinion would obviously be helpful here, but isn't it impossible to get a trademark for such a well-known phrase, especially one that (by far) pre-dates the person filing for the trademark?

iMissEthan
This is what The Smoking Gun chooses to report about Apprentice? What about some of Omarosa's outlandish claims?
barkley
I think it would be like Michael Buffer tradmarking "Let's get ready to rumble!". I'm not quite sure in what instances it's a trademarked term, but I'm sure The Donald is thinking along the same lines
LostinSpace
I saw george and Carolyn on FNC's Fox & Friends, too. I was quite impressed with how personable both were compared to their appearance on Apprentice. Yeah, George just wouldn't shut up. He's so the talkative old, funny grandfather type. Carolyn has a beautiful smile, too.

George was very positive in talking about Sam, and Carolyn agreed. I guess Sam really did make a positive impression on all three, considering the Sam-in-drag / Donald Trump commercial.

Today's Philadelphia Inquirer had an article on Trump and how the show has resurrected him. As part of the article it also said that tonight's show would boot off the 6th-to-last contestant. I got my hopes up until I realized it was probably just careless reporting :(

(The article also quoted DT as asking "Is my hair really that bad?" and saying that he didn't like back-combing so he forward-and-back combs. And he showed the reporter his roots)

The funniest part of the Smoking Gun article, to me, was the following:

We're waiting to see if Trump tries to patent the signature hand motion he uses to dispatch "Apprentice" contestants.

Hee. He could call it "The Snapping Cobra."
MaryWebGirl
As part of the article it also said that tonight's show would boot off the 6th-to-last contestant.

It would be hilarious if, at the end of the clip show, they just showed Trump saying, "Oh, and I fired Katrina because she sucks so much I couldn't stand to see her anymore."
SurlyBooty
Looks like Nick still loves copiers.
Gabria13
SurlyBooty, you may want to mention that article you linked to contains a spoiler.
Vermicious Knid
Not necessarily. The NY Times style section had an interview with Flo while TAR was on the air and she was still working at her job, which I thought would be proof she hadn't won. Unfortunately, it wasn't true. All the Survivors have to resume their regular lives too until the finale is broadcast.
Monco

The difference is, Buffer coined that phrase. Just like Pat Riley owns the rights to "threepeat," since he invented the term.

In this case, there's something a little hinkey about someone trying to trademark a phrase that's been around for God knows how long. But like I said, I'd be interested to hear a lawyer's opinion.
