Thanks to the posters who posted links to the Maxim pictures. I am surprised Pamela did them. I thought Sandy looked great! Much better than she did on the show. On the other hand - I thought Maria looked really scary. As much as I hated her on the show, I always thought she looked attractive. But those Maxim shots? Bleah! And the lesbo sex shots between her and Jennifer C give me the shivers.

"They can portray you as being 360 degrees different from what you really are." Which would be, you know, the same as you really are.

Dammit Sheap! For a second there I thought that your comment was a part of the quote and it seemed to be the greatest thing ever said by a reality show veteran. That would have been beautiful, but yeah you’re right, it’s just more stupidly worded editing blame.

Andy was on The Today Show this morning. Interestingly, he said the idea was to create a 20-oz. limited-edition bottle, not something intended for mass production. I couldn't quite tell whether that was Pepsi's stated goal, or one that Mosaic came up with for themselves, but that was part of his reasoning for the globe bottle

Here's a link to the task dossier ... guess it was supposed to only be a limited edition bottle?

From the TV Guide interview with Maria:

TVGO: You want to be a model?
Maria: Not so much modeling as marketing of women. I'm more about empowering women to not just develop their outward look, but their inward as well.

Did she really say "marketing of women"? Does she not realize the connotation...oh, never mind.

Maria may be talentless, obnoxious and just a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible person, but she is quite attractive.

Sadly, I would have to agree. Physically, she is quite beautiful. She would make an excellent manniquin. Her problem is that she's Maria. The inside completely cancels out the outside. And then some.
zenner
Physically, I guess so, but her mannerisms negate a good deal of it. The blinkbot manner is just not sexy. YMMV, of course.

Can someone tell me HOW to get to the MSNBC site to view the Today Show interviews with the newly fired Apprentices (Aprrenti?). I have tried googling every which way and just can't get to the correct place. Anyone who can help- thanks!

What I do is I click on the link to get to the media player (Even if it's a link to a video talking about harvesting corn) and there's a search function within the player that pops up and I type in "Apprentice".

From The Washington Post's Names & Faces column:
The Continuing Story of O

She may have been fired from "The Apprentice," but Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth has been hired to host the 2004 Miss District of Columbia USA pageant at the J.W. Marriott this evening.

The Howard University alum was a finalist in the 2001 pageant and also participated in Miss USA, Miss America, Mrs. America and Mrs. United States pageants before finding fame on the reality show that put her at odds with millionaire Donald Trump.

Tonight's winner will advance to compete for the Miss USA title in March.

Nooooooooo! This is a world I do not want to live in anymore.
The Other Daughter
Ok what in the name of all that is holy and all that is unholy are the Miss USA people thinking?!? That this is a woman people all over America have been dying to see more of, and whose wit and insight make her *perfect* for hosting a beauty pageant? If they're gonna have a bitchy reality tv contestant host the show then at least pick one who was famous for her style or something...JESUS.

Trump owns the Miss USA beauty competition, as well as the Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA pageant.
Biff42
You know, Omarosa might actually be qualified to host a beauty pageant. That was her career earlier. Supposedly, she was Ms. DC in one of the local contests.
goobaletta
It just occurred to me that the Washington Post got that wrong. It would have to be the Miss District of Columbia 2005 pageant, not 2004. Not an uncommon mistake, that. And yes, Omarosa was Mrs. District of Columbia in 1998 or something. I don't really recall the specific year.
Zivra
Doesn’t exactly aid the usual pageant defense about rewarding character and positive role models, does it?
The Other Daughter
Trump owns the Miss USA pageant? I should have known that one even without knowing that one. But why would DT of all people think the American public was dying for more O on their screens? Why would he want her in any way associated with his companies?

Doesn't exactly aid the usual pageant defense about rewarding character and positive role models, does it?

Hee! Actually that might be a major upside to this Zivra. Finally put a stop to that "pageants build character" nonsense you see promoted even in things that are suppossed to be mocking pageants like Miss Congeniality or the Caroline B. Clooney novel Twenty Pageants Later a book where after the whole plot showed the horror and despicable nature of such pageants for what they are they have to ruin it, by having the narrator see some redeeming qualities in it after all, because you know-it shows how much the parents care. Blech-that was a major copout. Uh-back to topic and away from the rant-actually I think the ultimate pageant queen would have to be our lovely fembot Jen. Hell she could WIN Miss USA.

If you missed it the first time around, or you'd just like to see it again, Pepsi now has its Andy-and-Raj spot online here: http://www.pepsiedge.com/home.php?trtmnt_id=100302

If you don't see it at first, click on "TV Ads" or use the arrows at the left hand side of the page to scroll through the sections in the frame. The Pepsi Edge bottle with a hole in it designed by Mosaic is also displayed here; click on the bottle for a chance to win either Mosaic's or Apex's bottle. And I have to admit, the more I see it, the more I like the bulging globes bottle ...

Kicking out a bunch of homeless women is such crap, I can't even believe that article. Because god forbid the ridiculously wealthy have to live within a five mile radius of people not like them.

And this:
Trump said he hadn't heard about the shelter shutdown. "I will look into that very seriously," he told The Post.

If Trump is in charge of this project, shouldn't he know what everyone beneath him is doing? Isn't that what he rips into PMs for on the show? I don't buy that he had no clue. Kicking out a bunch of homeless women so he can cater to multi-millionnaires is such a dick move. Ugh.

On first read, I thought this was a 'topless' women's shelter. I feel shame....
The Other Daughter
Ok whoring for mega-bucks from credit card companies and cell-phone providers on one hand, (despite the fact that this is one reason the ratings and viewer enjoyment have been down so much this season,) and on the other hand building luxury housing for the super-rich at the expense of homeless women. I know this is the same sexist jerk who once destroyed a famous architecturally significant Art Deco surface of a building after *publicly* promising he wouldn't but even so this seems to be taking sleazy to an all new low. And working for him is the dream job of the Ivy League? My god there's something wrong with this country and I think the only reason I'm still watching The Apprentice is because I think it may be indicative of the problem.

Edited to make it clear that I was referring to Apprentice as indicative of the larger problems in society and not TAR.
katarzyna
A homeless shelter is "typically not something that goes with luxury properties," Trump said, but he added it could be OK if run out of a church.

There's just so much wrong with this that I don't know where to start.

I've thought much the same thing: of course, if I wanted to work for an over-rated (and bankrupt) real-estate developer with a gigantic ego and bad hair, I would actually, you know, apply for a job instead of spending six or eight weeks playing a game.

I am constantly amazed that people who appear to have strong resumes (JenM, Kevin, Pamela) and good business sense (Kelly, Pamela) are there. Maria, StacyR, JenC and Ivana make more sense - from what we saw of them, I'm amazed that any of them were actually able to persuade someone to hire them to do anything.

And if this show were a true job interview, anndra, I'd agree with you. But it's not. It's a chance to get your face on national television, get some free publicity and media exposure, and use them as a springboard to other things. Kwame and Katrina have leveraged their appearances to great profitability. Katrina has been quoted in the Miami media as saying that her appearance has gotten her opportunities in real estate that she never would have had otherwise; and indeed, she's now the official rep for the sale of the Sony building in Miami -- a hell of a coup, and her fee will be ginormous. Kwame has a development deal, a new clothing line in the works, and is now being considered for a job at CNN. Indeed, much like Clay on American Idol, he may well prove to be the true winner of the first season of TA. Amy and Bill have written books. Omarosa has a whole new career as a red carpet crasher, famewhore and hanger-on. I fully expect this woman to ditch her husband at some point and take on a new role: escort to the (B and C list) "stars."

I can totally see JenM and Kelly in media/public relations roles. Not so much the others, though; Maria is too twitchy and blinky, Andy is too green, Sandy is too rough, and Ivana is too Ivana. Pamela is a little coarse, but her smarts and presence would be good TV assets if she just gets a little polish. Kevin might succeed in media if he can just tone his public speaking style down a notch and conquer the flop sweats. Raj would be an acquired taste, but I can see him attracting a big fan following among those who like something a bit unusual. The rest -- meh.

Because they know that if they do a good job, opportunities will come pouring in.

Which is Jenn kept her cool for so long and why Pamela stayed above the fray. Which is why I'm surprised Kevin is so catty - he was my initial pick to win. But then again, after reading all those rumors about him getting into brawls in the suite...

ITA, pocha. I think Pam is definitely a diamond in the rough. When she appeared on the QVC show with DT and the other apprenti the Monday after the QVC task aired on The Apprentice, she handled herself very well, very personable, and made a very good impression. She could work with a coach to soften the rough edges and be a first-rate commentator for the business or finance portion of a news program.

Trump may be any and all of the things mentioned above, but whether we like it or not, Donald Trump is one of the giants of business. He operates on the top level in business and even when he is running on empty, which he seems to be doing more and more, he is still the man to see. He is the man who gets things done.

The level Trump is at is where most of the candidates ultimately want to be, and appearing on The Apprentice gives them a leg up on getting there.

Trump may be a jackass, but being in his world has it's benefits.

I also agree. Pamela has a good voice quality & presence for radio/TV and if her crudeness is kept in check I can totally see her doing business commentary. Her new boobs won't hurt her TV chances either.

I think this remains to be seen. Being a celebrity, being rich and getting things done are three different things (although sometimes they come in the same package). Lots of people are on the red carpet long before (or after) they have the ability to pull any strings. Lots of rich and influential people avoid publicity like the plague. Celebrity can be turned into real accomplishment, but just as often celebrities disappear as if they never existed.

So far all The Apprentice has created are a few celebrities. Big freaking deal. It reminds me of the old story about the PR person who asked a newspaper editor, "How do I get my client's name in the paper?"

"Shoot him," the editor said.

The real test is whether any of the Apprenti can be taken seriously. Can they take this craptastic moment in the sun and actually build a building, create a business, write a book that isn't ghostwritten? Based on what I've seen, I'm skeptical. Because I, for one, am not going to be able to judge their work fairly until I stop laughing.
The Other Daughter
Thank you wordslinger. That is what's so annoying about this crop of famewhores; they have no idea how useless their current status in the limelight is. Jenn C lost her job for god's sakes so she doesn't have anything to do, but walk down the red carpet. They're not getting movie careers out of this and it's not like this is neccessarily going to look good on a resume. Far from it-many of these people have shown themselves to be idiots and assholes on national tv, thus making them completely unemployable. I mean will anyone ever take Ivana seriously again after this show? No. These people have to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame while it lasts, because after that a lot of them are *finished*.

A few weeks ago The New York Times Magazine had an article all about Richard Branson, creator of the reality show the Rebel Billionaire. Well the Donald took issue with a compeitor getting some face time, so he sent this letter to the editor (methinks the billionnaire doth protest too much):

Virgin Territory

Your questions for Richard Branson failed to mention any of his numerous failures, including cola, cellphones and soon, I predict, his excursion into the world of railroads (Deborah Solomon, Nov. 7). After years of trying, he couldn't even circle the globe in his wonderful balloon. Also, I find it hard to believe that anybody in the airline business is, in fact, a billionaire.

Since your feature appeared, Richard Branson's reality show, "Rebel Billionaire," has opened to minuscule ratings, even lower than Mark Cuban's failed attempt at knocking off me and my show. In the meantime, "The Apprentice" continues to bring in top ratings, and I am having fun on all fronts, especially beating my copycat rivals.

I said it was interesting, not accurate.

I actually disagree with Katrina. If Jen is indeed floating under the radar, there's no way she'll win, although given her ability to talk a good game, she MAY pass the interview phase and make the final two. But, if I were DT I would look more for the "doer" for the position, and not a "floater."

But then again, I'm not DT, so what do I know?

From Katrina's article:

Apex was clearly the strong team with the brilliant design.

I hosted a Q & A where a sharp, eloquent and highly enthusiastic audience watched the episode projected on a large screen in the school’s auditorium. During commercial breaks, the episode was scrutinized and I was bombarded with candid, clever and insightful questions.

Brilliant? And clearly Katrina thinks 3 adjectives is better than 2 or even, you know, one.

Great picture though.

Wow, Snazzjazzy. Does Trump have no shame? No class at all?

Going out of his way to publicly trash Branson like that just makes Trump seem incredibly insecure, petty and mean-spirited. I didn't necessarily think he had more class than that, but I certainly thought he had more sense.

Its amazing to think that Trump would feel sending a letter like that is actually showing -him- in a good light. How out of touch must he be?

I was thinking that if Trump feels it's appropriate to send a cheesy letter like that, he might just lean toward hiring someone who's as nasty as he is. Maybe Ivana has a chance after all....

I read the new Maxim issue with the five Apprentice candidates in it. The ladies neither say very much or show very much. There is some disagreement between what Pam and Stacie J have to say and what the other three women have to say. According to Pam and Stacie, the other women behaved like a bunch of tramps. According to Sandy, Jenn C. and Maria, they were very chaste. Which group is telling the truth?
