I still think there's a possibility that Stacie J.'s comments about black women dealing with their men being in jail might have been a misquote, or a partial quote, or a quote taken out of context. If seen it happen before; a few lines left out of a quote to make it sound more sensational.
But if she said those words exactly as quoted, even though I understand the point she was trying to make about the strength of black women, I don't think she should have used such broad, blanket statements. My father worked hard all his life, and has never been involved in any criminal activity or incarcerated. And I grew up with many other black children who had the same experience. Having a father in jail is an experience that does affect some black families, but it is by no means universal.
However, I still like Stacie, in spite of some ill-considered remarks. I still have a lot of sympathy for her after the atrocious way she was treated on the show. And her explanation of the way they edited the footage of the 8-ball scene sounded very plausible to me. I agree with her point that if there was more conclusive evidence of her supposed "craziness," the producers of the show would have shown it, with glee. Because that scene had an uneven, patched together look, it gives credibility to the idea that the editors scrambled to make Stacie look unstable to justify Trump's decision to listen to Apex's wild claims and fire her.
I also love the fact that she really described the Apex women to perfection. I wouldn't want to talk to most of those bitches, either. And good for Stacie for continuing to call Donald Trump on his bullshit, too.

Guess he's jumping on the pot-kettle-black bandwagon too now. Hee.
And also, is it just me, or is Annette Bening looking startlingly similar to one Clay Aiken lately?

Yes, I don't think Bening's career will improve by having identical hair to Clay.
And why does Melania always affect a pursed-lip look a-la Trump's scowl in their photos together? If that's a billionaire's version of "wearing matched t-shirts"...it just looks ridiculous. And she (they) -always- pose like that.
So phony and pretentious-looking.

Did anyone catch Carolyn on The View? I was planning to watch it but I've had my fill of shrieking harpies this week. I was afraid I wouldn't get much out of it if I had to mute "the ladies" the whole time.
goobaletta
Oct 14, 2004 @ 12:46 pm
Yeah, I caught about 90% of it. She looked great in a slim-fitting above-the-knee skirt and patterned silk blouse. She greeted the ladies with a kiss apiece, so showbiz! She sat between Baba and Star.
They talked about the differences between last season's women and this season's. She also said that she was straight with TD about thinking the whole show thing was kinda hokey until MB explained how it was going to work. She was initially concerned that the candidates would all be running around Trump's offices and so forth.
Star asked her about Jen C. and why were the "old Jewish ladies" comments aired and Carolyn basically looked at her and said, "Well it is a reality show." Like duh, Star! That amused me.
It was essentially the same interview she's been giving in many ways, but much less uncomfortable than some of them. She's been on The View at least one other time and she's seen Star and Elizabeth at showbiz functions. Oh yeah, Elizabeth totally gushed about what a genius MB is. It was gagworthy.
I feel like I'm forgetting things, but I had one ear listening to the TV while other stuff was going on, as usual. Anyone else see it?

With his track record, I don't think anyone could actually be "relieved" to have snared him since it is likely a marriage with him will only last until he finds a "newer model". Ya Know!

I watched it. It seemed as though Carolyn was having a good time. She said she was a straight shooter and Star questioned her about why she waited to tell Trump she was pregnant. She said she was afraid and did not want to be pigeon-holed. It is clear that she does not hold the women's team in high regard.
I am soooo jealous that the audience got a copy of her book.

MMorningstar ...She must feel mighty relieved now that she snared The Donald.
Hm. I don't know. For the moment, I'm still a bit skeptical about this whole Trump/Melania bethrothal-to-be.
I think maybe seeing herself last season as perhaps somewhat of a, in her eyes, "kept woman", may have led to her putting a bit of pressure on him. And so all these engagement exuberances could be just a way of keeping her distracted until she is no longer useful to him.
I could be wrong, though. If he, instead sees her as a soulmate and love of his life, then I look forward to the festivities. I don't want to use the obvious word but they will, no doubt, be BIG!

Oct 15, 2004 @ 7:13 am
As always, the Today show has the boot-ee on the show. John is wearing the same tie he wore in the boardroom. And he still can't tie a decent knot in it.
He's doing a good job of defending their flirting with the models, though. He said basically, "come on, we're working all the time, we're up nights, we get the opportunity to meet some of the most beautiful women in the world"..."we're guys". He also said that he was unaware of the pricing getting "jacked up" because he told Wes and Kevin to go with the price that the designer set. Wes went to him off camera apparently and apologized for the price choice. Apparently that was enough for John to feel that he didn't deserve to be in the boardroom. (Wrong move there pretty boy)
Great article by Sars! Hee.

People's blurb about John's firing. Subscribers. A recap would be appreciated if it's worth the trouble.
The Apprentice hands the girls a win with designing clothes. WCNC. Free registration needed. Wow. Is that a lousy headline or what? And yeah, this is the writer who seemed to think that Raj's use of the word samovar last week was about a brand of Russian coffee and not the tea urn that I'd lay odds Raj knew it was. This guy's commentaries seem to be getting worse by the week. Gah.
Heh. This writer thinks highly of Jen C. NOT! Modesto Bee. Third item in column.

Whitney Pastorek's
Entertainment Weekly recap is here. Here are some highlights (she acknowledges that the episode was "hella boring"):
Tonight I totally envy Dalton and his write-up. Survivor had a freakin' earthquake.
We opened on the triumphant post-Boardroom return of the Munchkin and the Dragon Lady to the suite, and we learned how much everyone really hated Pamela, which made me think the East Germans must have had a really crappy time in the Olympic Village all those years. ''Ding dong, the Ice Queen is dead,'' the children sang, and then they clapped for Little Stacey like she was some sort of dancing poodle as she regaled them with tales of how Pamela asked her to be unethical in an Enron sort of way.
How much did we not recoil in shock when the men picked Pamela clone Ilsa to be their designer? They missed their mommy, and who can blame them? Without the debatable estrogen of Pam, these boys were lost at sea, a fact that was emphasized during the only remotely entertaining scene of the night: They headed to a fabric warehouse and started pulling out the ugliest bolts of cloth I have ever seen, driving Carolyn into a conniption fit that made me fall in love with her all over again. She was totally right to break down, because it was ridiculous watching the boys pull polka dots and patterns that looked like silky Cosby sweaters from the shelves, all the while attempting to maintain their macho panini dignity.
Over with the Pussycats, the Gap managers were clearly in their element, and by sending away the two borderline-intelligent women (Elizabeth and Jen M.) to do market research, they managed to design their line and semi-invent a dumb new word, ''capelet.''
And there will be even more room now on the Raj train:
Raj is officially off my list. Watching him drool gallons all over the models tonight was just disappointing. I'm done. Had I known he'd turn out to be just another bow-tie-clad modelizer, I never would have wasted those column inches confessing my love.
It was drab, average television. And if Trump is just going to keep firing the Project Managers, it's going to get worse. (I sort of hoped he'd fire Andy, frankly, maybe create some buzz.)

The People article was pretty bland and not very interesting. It did have this item that I have not seen before:
Meanwhile, in other reality news, ABC is yanking the show that was called – by Trump himself – a poor imitation of The Apprentice (which has seen its own second season ratings slip in comparison to its first season). The Benefactor, with tech billionaire and NBA owner Mark Cuban, will end its run on Oct. 25, after being cut from eight episodes to six.

From last Wednesday's Wall Street Journal (sorry, I'm a little behind on my reading):
NBC is counting on “The Apprentice” to be the next show in the [young, upscale audience that NBC could sell to advertisers for a premium] trajectory. But reality series are proving to be less reliable than traditional scripted ones, says Tim Spengler, director of national broadcast at ad buyer Initiative. Without “Friends” as a lead-in, the Donald Trump vehicle has slipped this season—something media buyers say took them by surprise. “Survivor,” for example, didn’t show a similar vulnerability. Among viewers 18-49, “The Apprentice” is off 15% from its performance last season. Mr. [Jeff] Zucker notes that “The Apprentice” faces surging competition from “CSI.” From “Less Seen TV: NBC Viewership Takes a Tumble” by Brooks Barnes in the October 13, 2004 The Wall Street Journal, section B.

Hah! Those photos of Jen C and Heidi? They have Katrina listed as Ereka Vetrini and go on to have almost a page worth of thumbnail photos entitled "Ereka Vetrini" or "Ereka Vetrini Group Shot" whwn the phots are all of Katrina.
Bad enough no one could tell them apart during the show, but now? Ereka is on a national daytime talk show and people still don't know who she is.
In addition to that...Ereka isn't even in the photos taken of all the Apprentices at the party, yet she was at the party, too (once again, in jeans). Thought she and Katrina were BFF's?
Oh...and Rob? Didn't we hear that there were two divorces as a result of this season? Yeah, I'm bettin' he was one of them. Espcially after all of the pics that have been linked in this thread as well as on JennC's site. He's a little too touchy feely, kissy kissy with the ladies for my taste.

From
TVGO's Watercooler column by Daniel R. Coleridge:
Watching the opening credits, I realized that Donald Trump has such a ghetto private jet. It's just dumpy old 727. Dictators of third-world countries tool around in those things! When I make my money, I'll get with the 21st century and fly me a Gulfstream 4. And who needs their name splashed across the side of the plane? Real VIPs travel under the radar.
Have you noticed that most of the guy Apprenti are gorgeous? They make those dudes on Carmen Electra's all-boy beauty pageant, Manhunt, look lame. My faves are Raj, the bow-tie-wearing Indian guy with those full, sensuous lips, and John the cute, blond Mosaic project manager. But what was up with Chris's comment that he bets Kelly wears pink camouflage underwear? (Oh, excuse me, Chris ignorantly pluralizes the word as "underwears.") Maybe I'm just sensitive, but there was a homophobic tinge to that joke that wasn't nice.
During the runway show, Mosaic's clothes were way better than Apex's. The women's designs were comprised of boring straight lines and primary colors, whilst the men's fashions were edgier and more fun. How did the gals outsell the guys so dramatically? I guess, as Trump pointed out, they did price their clothes too high. Still, I'm glad the men ended up in the boardroom — just because it meant my fave hotties got more screen time. I loved the curmudgeonly George hassling Raj for his contradictory arguments! However, I was disappointed John got fired instead of that boring little Andy. C'mon! That's just not right.

In the American version, for example, Mr Trump oversaw the contestants in a series of challenges like running a celebrity auction or hawking lemonade on busy Manhattan streets. Flipping through channels last night I caught MSNBC asking Nick and Amy, seperately on satellite, about the lastest episode. Nick blamed it all on the men's designer, which is bull because wasn't the team the one doing the designing, and anyway they were sunk on the prices. Everyone drooling over the models and Raj getting in Ilsa's way probably took up valuable time as well. Nick is an ass. But, both Amy and Nick picked Stacy R. as the next to go. There's a very long article about Trump and the people he's fired in this week's Soap Opera Weekly (we get ours a bit later in Canada, so it might be last week's if you're in the States). I don't think I'm allowed to type it all here, as it's copyrighted, but if anyone is interested, I'll send it to you over email. It's very interesting. It's an interview with both Trump and Mark Burnett.
The basic thrust of the article is the firing of Stacie J. and a discussion of her 'craziness.' And then each of the fired people, up to Jenn C., I think, say what they think of being fired. Very interesting!

, thanks for that link! No, that wasn't what I was talking about, but it was a good read. Soap Opera Weekly has their print publication and then their online counterpart. Their extra features, and this would be an example of that, have some overlap but the online version has different details. What is in the print publication is an interview with Weekly, Trump, and Burnett. The second part in the print publication is more like what you linked to in the online version, although they are different too.
