whew. this is from a few pages back (174). it's taken me a long time to catch up on the required reading!
On LKL, DT said Amy was "magnificent"? That he was "extremely upset" that his people "didn't get the real Amy"? He knows her "much better than they do"? And they were "completely wrong"? ...Folks, I think we've just met the future Mrs. Donald Trump. Or at least his next girlfriend. (Tracy)
Word, Tracy! I've been thinking the same thing, too; especially after Trump made a comment (in some interview...Oprah? don't remember) that Amy's a beautiful person both inside and outside (eww...he saw her inside?). Well, he did offer her a position, and I'm sure it's under him.(Neko)
Hee hee, Neko! I wasn't sure if anyone else caught the double entendre, but it made me laugh!
I guess since the DT/Melania engagement announcement, Amy will just have to be Mrs. Trump #4...He always seems to leave his wife of the moment for someone new and younger. I also remember reading (here, I think) that DT promised his daughter that he wouldn't date anyone younger than her. Amy must be pretty close? Or is she still 10 years older?

Wow...could it be anymore obvious that Bill is really nothing more than some sort of publicity liason for Trump? Last I checked, Presidents's of divisions aren't treated like gophers. Poor Bill.....he got hosed.
And Katrina is the "correspondent" for CBS Market Watch? Huh????? Christ, Tammy would have been a better choice for that. CBS Market Watch is a ratings whore. Such poor branding for them to use Katrina. Makes them look like ratings whores instead of a serious financial information show.
Kwame seems perfect for correspondent/journalistic work. He's poised, he has a fantastic voice, he eloquent and he's polished. I'm actually really happy to see him doing these types of stints. I think he could become very successful at it. Look at charlie Mahr on Access Extra. I think he fits in very well for someone with little on-camera broadcast journalism training. Yeah Kwame!!! Hope he gets more offers.
So glad Amy didn't get invited to this dinner. She is NOT great at these types of gigs. I watched her clip on Access Extra about some sort of amusement park and thought I was going to gag with all her fake exhuberance.

Did not like Nick's "good wishes" to Trump, turning it into a cheap joke about himself and Amy; Amy's comments, of course, were far, far worse: "there's a camera in my face, so they must want me to talk about...me! ME! ME! ME!"). Damn, even Assorama gave a polite, poised, well-rehearsed statement (I got the impression that she learned that from a "The Right Words for All Occasions" phrase book, and she probably writes it on the card of every wedding gift she sends). Amy? Your comments were the least classiest!
On the other hand, when I first heard about the engagement, I thought about the speculation and/or jokes (depending on your view) about Amy wanting to replace Melania. This might actually be the first step in process: move Melania up to the "wife" position, which leaves an opening in the "girlfriend/mistress" position for Amy. That way he can give Amy a test drive without losing his sure thing. Just a thought.

It has been refreshing to see less Assy in the news. I hope it stays that way. No Assy = good.
About the teeth bleaching, I have to weigh in. I used the Crest white strips because I just didn't like my teeth, and my dentist recommended them as something I might try before shelling out for the more expensive bleaching he does. I was very happy with the results. If I were applying for a reality show, I'd go through another round of them. If I were cast, I'd do two things for vanity: go to my dentist for the "real" bleaching, and get an eyelash tint. Yellow teeth look awful on TV. (As for the lash tint, I have blond eyelashes, and mascara smears. Enough said.)
TV is a visual medium, and reality show producers need to work with that fact. That doesn't mean they need to cast all beautiful people. But it does mean they should and obviously do consider what people will look like on film. And if that leads them to encourage people to whiten their teeth, I don't have a problem with it. It's cheap, and white teeth look better than yellow teeth. Crest white strips are down to about $20-25 per box now. That's less than $1/day. I don't find that an outrageous expenditure in order to look decent on TV.

Tashanir, Kwame, Bill and Katrina are going to the WH Correspondents dinner as guests of those news organizations, not as reporters/correspondents; they won't be doing any reporting.
Every news organization invites various people - celebrities, stars, business folks - to this annual event, so it's an every-year thing for the news folks. And by inviting the celebrity-du-jour, the journalists themselves get a bit more publicity via the photos taken at the event that wind up in various magazines, etc.
But don't expect to see Bill, Katrina or Kwame reporting from this event. In fact, even the journalists themselves don't report for this event - this is their annual party where they can poke fun at the WH and have fun themselves. Nothing serious, just fun.

It's one thing to do that to a friend - if Nick had said that in his congratulations to SAM, no big deal. DT is a business mentor, and one Nick and Amy haven't known for a long time...and he's someone who has already been through two divorces. Making a crack about the longevity of marriage #3 is in bad taste, IMO.

Mega-word. Plus, it's another thing to SAY IT IN THE PRESS! Sure, we might make cutting, funny comments to our

I think the only thing that makes Amy's and Nicks comments acceptable is that Trump himself has poked fun at his own failed relationships as a comparison to Nick and Amy's. Im talking about the season finale: "I have friends, they've cost me lots of money" or something to that effect. So they are just continuing the joke that HE started.
I still find Amy to be least classiest, but Trump is the one that's been telling the media how beautiful she is, how smart she is, and so on. And while I agree that it wasn't the appropriate time to mention it (he's engaged to someone else), she is responding to the media speculation that he started. I dont think she walked arund talking to everyone about her crush on Trump.
But as Archer and Bibibellla said, Trump is not their buddy, he is in a more powerful postion than them. He can make jokes, they cant. It sucks, but that's how the system works.

Natalita, as you say, the key here is that Trump is the one with the power...not Nick or Amy. Thus, even if he started some of these jokes (like the one about his previous wives), it's poor taste for them to follow up. (It comes off, IMO, like they're trying to be bright and witty and stay in the media glare -- which is why they're probably saying this stuff anyway -- not to mention that I think the publicity has gone to their heads, esp. Amy's).
I'd say that (it being poor taste to for them to say the things they've said) even if he weren't in the power position. Kinda how folks can make fun of themselves about things, but it's not OK or tasteful for others to do the same.

The camera cut to the audience periodically throughout the speaking. I saw Drew Carey, George Lucas, Drew Barrymore, Ralph Nader, Colin Powell, Barbara Walters, Madeleine Albright, Condi Rice, Al Franken, Henry Kissinger, Vincent Donofrio, Chris Matthews, BILL eeeeeeeee!!!, Ben Affleck, Howard Dean, BILL AGAIN eeeeeee!!.
Afterwards, MSNBC showed some of the arrivals. Bill was shown arriving with Debra Norville. She must have been his host. On CSpan he was shown chatting with Debra and Jay Leno during the leaving/mingling after the event was over.
There was a funny moment with the MSNBC anchors. The woman snotted that she didn't know why someone from The Apprentice was invited, and the male anchor said "I believe we invited him." Bwah! Ninny.

Neko, this points out how disappointing all the women on the first season were. None of them seemed to remember that they vying to become the head of a Trump company. They were so focused on winning each task at any cost, catfighting, trying to look sexy, etc., they forgot the ultimate goal. It's often difficult for a woman to command respect from male underlings, even when she conducts herself professionally. When you go around acting like a flirty prom queen, your chances of getting that respect are slim to none.
Amy seems to have some good business instincts, but her behavior with the press is seriously damaging her image as a businesswoman. Future candidates need to realize that there will be a lot of media interest in them - I hope they will conduct themselves with a little more polish in the press (especially the women.)

Mega-word. I find it interesting how quickly all the publicity has gone to Amy's head (not to mention Omarosa, Ereka, Katrina; Heidi is the only one from the final Apprentices to have remained 'normal').
In this week's "People" (the Most Beautiful issue) there's a section about the most attractive reality show contestants and they have a mathematical formula for determing facial beauty - anyone who scores 100% represents the 'ideal'...and Amy scored at 97% - which I'm sure will make her ego even 'yooger'. (Katrina scored 94%. No other Apprentice women were included, which, I'm sure Omarosa will use as a racism thing). The doctor who created the formula mentioned Amy's "great cheeks and lips" (guess he overlooked her Jay Leno chin) and with Katrina, he said "Her wonderful eyebrow position and long neck" secured a high rating.
Seems like the women (I don't count Tammy, Jessie, etc. since they got kicked off so early that they didn't get any major publicity like the others) got wrapped up in being cute, sexy, publicity whores while the men remembered that it was all about business. Which makes me wonder if the women like Amy and Katrina just wanted to break into entertainment all along....

Might also be her personality that did it. One thing Amy showed on
The Apprentice is she has a great personality that in a lot of ways reminded me of the female panelists from the classic game shows of the 1950s and '60s, and if there were a revival of the classic game show
What's My Line? for example, I think she'd be a great panelist on it (for those who don't know,
What's My Line? is a game show that aired in Prime Time on CBS from 1950-'67 on Sunday nights, and current airs early mornings seven days a week at 4:30 AM ET/1:30 AM PT on GSN (formerly Game Show Network) with their also being a second, daily incarnation in syndication from 1968-'74). I noted this in the thread that is set up here for "WML?" (look for Game Shows in the main section, then "What's My Line?" in that part), as I also belong to a group for that show where we recently have discussed who might be great on a panel for a revival of that show.

BibiBella, I wouldn't mind so much that the women are taking advantage of opportunities that come their way in the media, if they just remembered that they did come on TA as aspiring businesswomen.
Amy acting all flirtatious in the press with Trump is robbing her of the credibility she gained during the show. Obviously, she has lost perspective and gotten caught up in the media circus.
I hope the women on Season 2 try to use Carolyn more as a role model. Carolyn is attractive, yet she maintains a professional demeanor, and I respect that. I want to see some women kick ass with their brains and business sense, not just their looks.

Wallyhorse, nope, the formula developed by the plastic surgeon (who rated Amy at 97%) is strictly based on facial features according to his mathematical formula. Personality is not part of the configuration.
I agree, though, that personality is what truly makes a person attractive - that's why some folks who aren't really classically good looking are very attractive whereas classically beautiful people wtih no personality are flat and blah. But in this "People" article, that's not counted in, just facial features. He does a whole breakdown based on facial features and bone structure, etc. - cheeks, eyes/eyebrows, lips, etc.
blocked writer, I agree about the women taking advantage of the media opportunities as aspiring businesswomen - but it seems they're going for the media whore/I'm so sexy approach instead.
They should study Kwame - he looked at the show as a 13-week commercial for himself and his talents. And he has behaved professionally with all the post-show media appearances and has used all of this to create some fabulous business opportunities.

It's hard to take Amy seriously. She's like a bad joke that won't go away. Didn't she interview somewhere insisting that all the men on the show had a "crush on her", even Kwame and Troy? And she repeatedly made the "crush" claims on the show with Nick. And now, when told of Trump's engagement, she says Trump has a "crush" on her too. Loser.
I think she's quite average looking. She looks like your typical tallish blond white woman in her 30s. There isn't anything striking or really beautiful about her features. She's ain't no Angelina Jolie or Gwneyth Paltrow. I always found her teeth a bit horsy. Her top gums kinda protrude prominently. And her voice really grates. It's very nasally and pitchy. Katrina's features were a bit too sharp for my liking, but I admit, she does have great legs.
Amy acting all flirtatious in the press with Trump is robbing her of the credibility she gained during the show.
I think she showed these same tendencies on the show, but now, with her post-show behavior, it's become even more obvious. I always thought she relied too much on her false belief that people would be disarmed by her sexuality, enormous beauty and charm (
sarcasm). Similar to Nick and his charisma thing. I hope she wises up before she hits 40, because her "strategy" is getting old.

Zycron, you're right, Amy did show some of the same tendencies on the show. However, she was able to balance it by showing that she was a fairly astute businesswoman.
When she makes these ridiculous claims in the press, she isn't taking into account that there are many people who didn't see The Apprentice. I can only image that the people who weren't viewers of TA must think most of the women were idiots. I won't even include Omarosa, because I think she has clearly shown herself to be disturbed, and her behavior is in a class of its own.
But what is the excuse of Amy and the other women? If I remember correctly, Katrina accused Amy of sleeping with both Bill and Nick. I don't think that's true, but regardless of the truth, some people will believe it. Amy's not helping dispel those rumors by insisting in the press that every man on the show had a crush on her.
And what the hell was going on in Katrina's mind? Did she really think that telling these tales out of school was really going to make Amy look bad? If anything, gossiping to the press made Katrina look much more unprofessional to me. She came off as catty, jealous woman out to take down her rival.
They should study Kwame - he looked at the show as a 13-week commercial for himself and his talents. And he has behaved professionally with all the post-show media appearances and has used all of this to create some fabulous business opportunities.
BibiBella, I agree wholeheartedly. Kwame has displayed class and style, especially in his media appearances. Also, Troy and Bill have conducted themselves well. Nick, not so much. I am hoping against hope that some really sharp businesswomen will apply (and be chosen) for Season Two, and that they learn well from the mistakes made by the women in Season One.
ETA: Even if every man on the show did have a crush on Amy, (which I seriously doubt) is this really what she wants everyone to think? I don't know if it is too late to rehab her image, but she should realize that with every sound bite, she's making herself a less desirable job candidate. (Even if she only wants to go into show business.)

blocked writer, I too hope the casting for the women on TA2 is far better than what we got in TA1. With the way the women from TA1 behaved on the show and in the post-show interviews, it just reinforces why many women aren't cut out to lead an organization and why many get 'stuck' as they move up the corporate ladder (not true, of course, of all women, but for plenty it is).
Instead, they got all catty and mean with each other, don't know how to separate business from personal (as Troy and Kwame did so well when they went to the boardroom together) and relied on their charm/sex appeal/looks to succeed.

Word way up, BibiBella! In retrospect, there wasn't a single woman on Season One who really deserved the top job, and that was a shame.
All the Season Two candidates (especially the woman) should keep in mind that only one person can win, but that many opportunities can come to those who present themselves well. (See Kwame & Troy). Especially in the post season, they need to conduct themselves in a more professional manner.
Even Sam, as crazy a kiss-up as he was, came off better in the post-season interviews than the women. Sam was at least entertaining, and doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body, which is more than I can say for most of the women.

blocked writer, good point about Sam.
I just realized how the women - both on the show and post-show media blitz - came off as so desparate for the attention (besides being so catty, etc. to each other). It's weird, but the guys at least knew how to use their publicity-whoring side (which they have just like the women) in a more business-like approach and to their advantage (prime example being Kwame). Put a camera in front of a woman, it would seem from watching most of these women, and they go nuts for the attention and the fame.
On the other hand, the women resorted to posing for FHM, sniping back and forth at each other on TV shows, in news articles, etc. Really defeats their saying that they are serious businesswomen ready to run a Trump company or division. They acted like catty children who need a good time out!

Why does Katrina have to pose like a call girl in that getty image with Bill. Her body language (plus all I've seen of her on the show and in interviews) combine to make me just want to sock her or something. She reminds me of the bitchy cheerleaders in high school who think they are God's gift to men. Okay...I know, I'm projecting...but still.

Post-Correspondents' Dinner, the Real Dish. Washington Post. Bill gets a snarky mention.
Oh, too bad: WP.com didn't include the picture of Katrina that was in the print edition this morning. The picture is quite -- hmm, is the word I'm looking for "unusual" or "ugly"? Katrina is sticking her tongue out in the least classiest way.

“This is true Americana,” Kwame said. “It’s good to get out and realize there’re still Wal-Marts in America, still small towns in America.”
Kwame, Kwame...ya had me and then you lost me. OK, so I'm a hypocrite - I shop at Walmart maybe once every two months (they've got cheap camping equipment!), but I still don't like how it's crept into towns and homogenizes them. (Want true Americana? Go to your local hardware store, the one that people bypass to shop at Lowe's and Home Depot.) And I hate that people outside the US have this image already of us waddling down the aisles of places like Walmart, yelling at our kids while pushing a cart full of 5-lb. bags of Doritos, 12-packs of Coke, and clothing made for 12 cents in some country we haven't heard of.
Dude - there's always going to be Walmarts. They're, like, the #1 retailer in the world and one of the largest private employers in the US (if not THE largest). (And you are SO getting a phone call from the PR folks at Walmart tomorrow!)

Gawker has posted a
strange casting callfor a mini-Trump for season two. Ew. tasteless and cruel. Perhaps it's just for a commercial?

Hee hee... I'm afraid to say that seems to be a prevailing image of America abroad. Maybe it's a stereotype generated through the media.... through shows like
The Simple Life or
Jerry Springer...but it's definitely a popular image. Though there are Americans in big cities like New York or L.A. who have never seen a Wal-Mart. Isn't it more a suburban phenomenon?
“It didn’t matter if you won the game; what matters is how you play the game.”
I liked this quote. At the end of the day, most people will forget the particulars of each task and who won how many times...but they will remember their overall impression of everyone and how they conducted themselves. It's all part of the branding process.
ETA:Casting agents for The Apprentice are looking to immediately hire a "little person" who can impersonate Donald Trump. They're also seeking an actor -- presumably full-size -- who can impersonate CBS Chairman Les Moonves.
What?!?! They're casting for a midget Trump impersonator??? Good lord! I shudder to think what next season's women are going to be like..... maybe an ex-call girl? Honestly, the producers of these reality TV shows never cease to hit new lows....

I agree, Amy ain't all that, especially with her hair straight. With her hair curly, I give her a 6, 6.5; with it straight, a 5 - very average. I give Katrina a 7, and most of that is grooming.
Is the 50 Most Beautiful People issue out? I checked my newsstands over the weekend and the only issue of People was the one with those fucking Olsen twins on the cover.
I like Kwame in those sunglasses. And everything else. Too bad I'm very Northeastern, and not a Southern belle.
