What with all the news starting to come out about the "behind the scenes" stuff, I heard today that NBC is actually paying the winner's salary, and not Trump.

Drummouse, I always assumed that was the case. Usually the networks pay the big prize amount on reality shows, and since this one is significantly less, I figured it would be paid by NBC. It's good to have confirmation, though.
Brachiator
A historic double induction into the Reality TV Hall of Shame!

At this pace, Omarosa will soon merit her own Wing of Shame. It will be yoooge. But watch out for the falling cee-ment.

Amy simply got up, glanced at Bill and Kwame, and walked out the door

That's not correct. She hugged Bill and Kwame before she walked out of the room.

I thought the funniest part of that BR was when Trump started off by criticizing Nick. Amy was sitting to his left, and there was a shot of her glancing at Nick and it was (or so I thought) an "Ewwww, coodies" kind of glance where you could see she wanted to be as far from him (physically and virtually) as she could. Now that was cold!
Neko
(I mean, how lame can you be not to greet your hosts? That's one way to get an interview off to a bad start!).

Well, the hosts were all women, so why bother? I noticed that she didn't have a problem greeting Jay Leno last week, as well as Quentin Tarantino (the first guest); she then had to climb past Nick to get back over to the seat next to Jay (heaven forbid she not be in the best seat!). As an aside, I wondered at the time whether someone on the show had been tipped off that Amy would be one of the two firees last week: aside from Tarantino's being there to pimp Kill Bill, Vol. 2 (a shot at Nick?), the musical guest was an Australian group Jet, who performed a song called Cold Hard Bitch (yes, I'm looking at you, Amy). Serendipitous snark, or set-up? You decide!
Paper Chaser
I just finished watching the half hour long interview with George and Carolyn on Deborah Norville on MSNBC...and I wish Norville had done even an ounce of homework. I don't typically watch her show, but I haven't seen such incompetence since Connie Chung got canned from CNN.

George and Carolyn, of course, were yoooogely fabulous.

Yup, and when her BF Nick got fired, Amy wouldn't even look at him. Bill glanced at him. Kwame waved good-bye.

I saw Trump on Dennis Miller tonight. That was interesting. Dennis Miller thought Troy was a great guy but "too Hee Haw" for New York. Trump agreed. Dennis then told Trump that Kwame was his favorite because he was a smooth, cool, button-down corporate type who would be a "great emissary" for Trump's empire. Trump agreed and said Kwame was a "wonderful guy." Then he crowed on about Kwame's Harvard MBA and the fact that he worked at Goldman Sachs, which seemed to impress Trump to no end. Trump seemed very pleased and flattered that Kwame would leave his job at such a "wonderful company like Goldman Sachs" to be on his show. It was almost like Trump was name-dropping.... I get the feeling that Trump is very impressed with "brand-names"... He stressed throughout the interview that he always wants "the best"... the best location, the best building...I think he's very status-oriented.
bobosh
My God! DT just can't help himself can he. He's been bragging about Kwame's Havard MBA the fact that he left Goldman Sachs for this show all week. A name dropper he is.
lynettefl
Should we assume that Kwame is a shoo-in?

E! Online Kristen Chat Transcript - You're Hired! We Want You to Grill The Apprentice Winners and Losers

Not a whole lot of scoop (big surprise), but anyway, here's a good one...

From rreingon12: Anything else on The Apprentice?
Hot scoop! Okay, not really, but pay attention, because this is for a really good cause. If you want a little souvenir from the gloriousness of the very first season, log on to eBay after the finale--they're auctioning off items from the show. (And they'll do the same for Survivor: All-Stars May 8-18.) This benefits the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. And, personally, I'm ready to spend my life's fortune on that pebble that made Omarosa lose her damn mind. Did you hear she might get her own action figure now? God help us all.

Hee!
choco
Hee hee... Over on Nick Warnock's website, they're discussing Nick's political aspirations. Here's a quote from an interview he gave:

Nick has a master post "The Apprentice" plan. "I am launching an audio cd at my Web site. After that I will pursue an on-camera career in entertainment or television news, and I'll be governor of California by age 38," he said. "And sometime within the next 30 years I'll be in the White House," he added. I asked if he was talking about the White House Tour or of an elected office. "President. I'm apparently no good as a team player so I need to be in charge," he said.

Nick wants to be the President of the United States? Bah!
jcpdiesel21
"President. I'm apparently no good as a team player so I need to be in charge," he said.
Yeah, that's the job for you, Nick, one where you don't have to work with anyone else. Considering the President works with a whole group of other people and advisors making decisions and policy for the entire country.
DMW_SFU
I haven't seen this quote mentioned, but it's very funny:

While questioning Condoleezza Rice during Thursday's hearings, Democrat Bob Kerrey mistakenly addressed her as Dr. Clarke and then even more embarrassingly as Omarosa.

I got it from TV Gal's column about reality shows (including TA), but it's from Tina Fey during on SNL's Weekend Update.
kattam6175
I may be certifiable, but I truly think everything Nick says is tongue-in-cheek. I wouldn't be surprised if all the talk about being President is just a way to poke fun at Omarosa.

I'm guessing he's got a pretty wicked sense of humor (that we didn't get to see). I think he'd do pretty well in a Jon Stewart-type (or Craig Kilborn-type) role.
Neko
Did you hear she might get her own action figure now? God help us all.

I think calling it an action figure is playing a bit fast and loose with the language. More like a bitching, moaning, lounging around with a faux concussion and taking 2-hour lunches figure, but I guess toysrus.com doesn't have that category.

Imagine the accessories that it will come with! And I wonder whether it will talk; what would it say when you pull the string?

Oh, the mind boggles.

With all the articles about TA this morning, you'd never know it's a slow news Tuesday. I'm beginning to think the whole country's going to have the DTs (pun intended) after Thursday's finale. Keep an eye out for your boss, or heck, just go ahead and email her/him the links. S/He's likely hooked on the show too.

And away we go...

Trademark Challenger: Fired Up Over 'The Apprentice' Good grief! Jessie has chutzpah! Who'd have thunk it? Really, though, I think she's looking to expand her 2 minutes to the full 15. I can't imagine she has the $$$ and resources for a real battle with TD and MB over trademarks. From CNN.

Last mini-mogul standing. From the Philadelphia Inquirer - free registration required. The writer refers to Bill as being "rough-hewn." Bill? Miss Alli's Boyfriend Bill? Whatever. From the article:
Jackson and Rancic are the last men standing after 14 apparently less capable capitalist running puppies were booted by the Big Dog.
The writer interviews the creator of Dilbert. That's a first. Kudos! Good article. One of the better ones.

Let's Fire The Donald for Trumped-Up Egomania. Originally from The Record in Hackensack, reprinted in the Miami Herald. Free registration required. Opinion piece. Snarky.

Mr. Trump's apprentices teach us how not to behave at the office. From the Dallas Morning News. Decent snark. Not at the level of TWoP by any means, but adequate. Miss Alli writes rings around this columnist.

Two words we long to hear: 'You're fired' From The Wichita Eagle. Nothing much new but some nice writing by their columnist, Denise Neil.

Trump U. From The St. Petersburg Times. Commentary from business students and professors and even a life coach. Seriously. Pretty good overall.

Toledo business people riveted by 'Apprentice' note it's not reality. From the Toledo Blade. (It's okay. I giggled too. Toledo's been funny to me ever since M.A.S.H.) A couple of editorial glitches in the presentation, but a good article.

Donald Trump Is Cool ... Grrr! From FOXnews. Nothing much we haven't seen before, but for a paragraph about the guy who sold the women their gold. Apparently this Grrr! shtick is this reporter's gimmick. Meh.

$3.2M FOR NEW TV TITAN From the NY Post. Nothing we haven't read in the last day or so. Typical Post article. Meh.

Trump TV hit edges towards finale. From the BBC. Nothing new, but it's fun seeing the BBC cover the show. And if you look in the upper right corner of the page you'll see links to 2 more articles they've done about TA.

Nick's TV Guide Interview
Monco
Couple of Apprentice related things on the radio this morning.

First, Elliot, the host, spoke with someone who worked with Omarosa right before the show started filming. The guy wasn't much of a talker, but it's pretty clear how he feels about her:

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how big of a bitch is she?
A: 26.

Q: Did anyone in the office like her?
A: Not really.

Q: If she were on fire, would you piss on her to put her out?
A: Nope.

Then, a few minutes later, he interviewed Troy:

- He's says he's gotten job offers from all over (Alaska and Australia being the two places he specifically named) from people who want him to run their companies. Apparently, he's also heard from people who just want him to hang out and go fishing with them.

- He and Jessie are starting their own business together (I think he said it was a real estate lending company), and are just about to receive funding for it.

- He doesn't think Omarosa's a mole.

- The reason he took Kwame into his last boardroom was a purely strategic decision, since he knew he didn't have a chance against Bill, as he'd won far more challenges than Troy had.
DariaG

Bwah!! That pretty much says it all, ya know!?!

Since this is the media thread, did anyone else read the Cosmo interview (May 2004 issue) with Amy? I just read it last night & was quite impressed with her answers, just about ready to change my opinion back to what I thought during the first few weeks of TA, and THEN....she says ALL the men on the show had a crush on her! Gee, Amy, I'm surprised you were able to get that head of yours in and out of S4 before you were FIRED!
jcpdiesel21
Some gems from Nick's TV Guide interview:
TVGO: Are you interested in pursuing a relationship with anyone else from the show?
Nick: I'd pursue all of them. They're all beautiful women.

TVGO: Omarosa included?
Nick: Including Oma.
I think someone has been doing some heavy drinking.

TVGO: I spoke to Katrina last week and she said your romance with Amy was just a strategy to win the game. True?
Nick: That's partially true. I aligned with a very strong player who I thought would help me in the long run, and it did. If you look at the Taj Mahal episode, I believe I could have slept on that task and she would have sent me back up to the [suite].
Interesting. Probably true, but a bit cocky coming out of Nick's mouth.

TVGO: Katrina's been dragging Amy through the mud in the press. Do you have any insight into what's going on between these two?
Nick: One thing about Katrina: She's a first-class individual. And she has the biggest heart, and she is the sweetest girl on the show. It's unfortunate the way she was edited, because it's the exact opposite of the way she is.

TVGO: Is attacking Amy in the press and spreading rumors about her sex life a classy thing to do?
Nick: Uh, well, um... She's upset and Amy was mean to her in certain parts of the show and said things that weren't very nice. (Pause) I don't know, to be honest with you. I like Katrina. She's a wonderful and very, very close friend and that's all I have to say on the matter.
I think Nick just wants to nail Katrina.

Here's an article from the April 8th NJ Star-Ledger interviewing both Trump and Burnett. I don't think I've seen one with both at the same time. Interesting that Trump comes off more honest. A few details about the kind of job the winner will get, a hint about Apprentice 2.

Is this a spoiler? I think we already know this but just in case Burnett said that all 16 contestants, past and present, will appear at some point during the finale.
iMissEthan
Joy Behar has said on the show before that she thinks all the Apprentice women are a bunch of "skinny bitches".
This really is unreal. Can you imagine the uproar if someone in the media were to call a bunch of larger women "fat bitches"? Skinny is just as much of an insult. There's no reason for Joy (or anyone else) to go there.

I disagree - I do think Omarosa is attractive physically. It's just her narcissistic and manipulative personality that's ugly.

Good Lord! I can't believe he said that. I remember wondering what exactly he did in that Casino task and thinking he was sleepwalking through it. At least Katrina did some work. Clearly Amy did not send Nick to the BR because he was such a "great leader". She wanted to save her boyfriend, and she let her emotions get in the way.

This was interesting... So Nick thinks Amy was mean to Katrina? I really think there must be more to Amy than we've been shown if Nick is defending Katrina so strongly.
archer1267
Apparently Oprah.com is getting flooded with emails over the way Oprah handled the Omarosa-Ereka conflict. Kewl.

Something about the photo of Oma doesn't look right - like her head is disproportionately large for her body. Or maybe it's that (if I can be really, really catty here) it looks like the head of an older woman was pasted onto the body of a younger woman. Weird.

pseudostudent, you're right, Omarosa is attractive physically. But she is one of those people whose personality overshadows her physical appearance in such a way that you cannot overlook it, and makes her overall an ugly person. That was the reasoning for my response.

And I think that TV Guide Online was asking about Omarosa in response to Nick's claim that he'd pursue any of the women on the show, not whether she is beautiful or not.

YMMV, of course.

Re: the Nick interview, I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but I have a better opinion of Katrina than I do of Amy. Nick may just want to nail Katrina, but I think there has to be some element of truth behind all of this...I am certain we were not shown Amy being catty and mean to Katrina, because all this post-firing vitriol from Katrina is a bit much, even from her.

As I was reading the latest US magazine, I was struck by both Katrina and Amy's comments...Katrina said she never had any need to see Amy again, blah, blah vitriol-cakes. Amy said Katrina was awesome and she had no need to bash her. Well, of course not. Amy was edited as the most favorable female candidate and came off much better to the viewing public (except maybe me). I have no idea why I am on Katrina' side here, because she behaving very immaturely as well, but I have a feeling there is alot we were not shown.

When I read this part of the interview, it made me think of The Partridge Family episode where Keith thinks this really pretty girl has a great voice. To prove to him she sounds like a cow dying a slow death, Danny tapes her singing and plays it for Keith, who finally admits he was listening with his penis and not his ears. Maybe, like Keith, Nick needs to listen with his ears, too. :-)

Speaking of which, what's this CD that Nick is releasing? Most Winning Sales Pitches? Soliloquys from My Acting Classes? William Shatner Isn't the Only TV Personality Who Can Produce a Spoken World Album? 1,001 Reasons Why the Warnock Family Believes Nick Should Have Been the Apprentice?

Speaking even further of which, is there any independent confirmation (meaning other than from the mouths of the Apprentice wannabes) that these youge deals supposedly in the works are actually, you know, in the works?

Action figures, books, CD's, clothing lines . . . it's more than I can keep up with. And really, is "You're Fired" the best name for a line of (business?) clothing? I'm new to the reality TV genre, so I don't know if this kind of thing is par for the course (to use an appropriate cliché). Will these people be going away soon?

Sheesh, Nick. Could you make it any more obvious that you've got a hard-on for Katty?

Just a helpful hint to everyone: Please do not post until you've read the previous 15 pages (or at least the previous 2 or 3). Some of you are posting things that have already been posted (again and again). That's a big no-no and could get you banned. See FAQ for details.

Alright, I have not yet seen this posted which is from the Sun-Times today. A different take on the whole racism with Omarosa, basically complaining that casting such a horrible human being as the sole black woman was not a good thing. I think the best answer would be, there was noone of any race or gender who remotely would have been as entertainingly awful as she is. Perhaps they should have cast another black woman who was actually competent and not socially retarded, but then that would have made all of the white women on the show look bad.
mswestern
Mary Mitchell hit the nail on the head. There probably were calm, competent, reasonable black woman -- the female versions of Kwame -- who were considered and rejected. Assorama was cast because her particular pathologies make good theatre. If she truly were the person she's been proclaiming herself to be, she probably wouldn't have gotten the gig in the first place. That may indicate a sad state of affairs in the minds of reality show producers, but it is a far cry from deliberately editing a person to look whackadoo because of the color of their skin.
BibiBella
(I mean, how lame can you be not to greet your hosts? That's one way to get an interview off to a bad start!).

Well, the hosts were all women, so why bother?

Because, Neko, everyone who goes on the View - male or female - always greets the hosts as they take their seat - it's just part of how they enter the stage. Besides, why would someone not greet women, but greet male hosts (since you post that Amy had no problem greeting Jay Leno)? That sounds pretty sexist to me and even more odd since it involves a woman (Amy) treating women that way, but not men. (On the other hand, maybe Amy only uses her 'charm' on male hosts since she figures it won't work on female hosts!).
Tashanir
Is this true? Kristin aka Wronda from EOnline reported that Bill recently got engaged? He was just here in NYC 6 weeks ago kissing Amy at a screening party.
Girlysogroovy
Mary Mitchell hit the nail on the head. There probably were calm, competent, reasonable black woman -- the female versions of Kwame -- who were considered and rejected. Assorama was cast because her particular pathologies make good theatre.

I don't think the producers knew she was a wacko when they signed her on. Omarosa is very good at projecting an image of intelligence, strength and propriety. Newbies to Omarosa and her interviews think she is intelligent, strong and proper. However, once those newbies get a couple of media articles or TV interviews under their belt or a glimpse of her on the show, they realize she is the wacko we all know and love to hate.
Blondie
ITA, mswestern! I think MB, DT & show staff are whoopin', hollerin' & thankin' their lucky stars that Assorama has shown herselft to be such a youuuuuge lying, delusional bitch! They probably had no inkling she would be this bad. I'm betting they thought after the interviews, "Great, we've got this little guy who's already a Trump-stalking sycophant (good TV!) and this pageant queen diva who also happens to be a well-spoken, well-groomed African-American (good TV!).

I agree that no one (that hadn't worked with her before, of course!) could have predicted that she would truly become "The Most Hated TV Personality in America!" Even if they did some bkgd cks and/or spoke to former co-workers, you know those ppl would never have told the complete truth for fear of backfire.
TrixieFirecracker
From the above-linked NYPost article:

OPRAH Winfrey's fans continue to swamp the TV queen's Web site - outraged that snarky "Apprentice" castoff Omarosa shared the stage with Winfrey on last Thursday's "Oprah."

Since when did snarky become synonymous with "raving bitchcakes lunatic"?
skagirl77
A further thing in question about Mary Mitchell's article is this:
Omarosa was probably brought back specifically to frustrate Kwame's efforts.

She could have been picked for Bill's team since he could control her & it would have shown balls IMO, and since this is speculation, Nick's yawning routine in the episode could be foreshadowing to him acting like a bad employee this week. So would this be poor casting of redheads?

Like girlysogroovy stated, you can only be psychic to a certain extent on someone's true personality when casting. I pre-liked Asso to an extent, figuring she'd be a savvy talker given her background and maybe picked up a thing or two in DC. Now, I know she's a pathological liar. Kristi, pre-hate for whatever reason, ended up liking. Last year's Big Brother had a seemingly nice guy who flipped out in like 3 days & was tossing chairs. I think the casting people knew they had a man in Tammy, didn't know a psycho in Asso.
Rachel RSL
Besides, why would someone not greet women, but greet male hosts (since you post that Amy had no problem greeting Jay Leno)? That sounds pretty sexist to me and even more odd since it involves a woman (Amy) treating women that way, but not men.

I'm pretty sure Neko was joking. As in: Why would Amy bother being nice to women when she can't seduce them with her unbelievable beauty that turns every man around her into quivering piles of mush? (insert eye roll here)
isabella19
That treatment of the women in The View made me revisit and wonder at the question Amy was asked during her interview with Norma Roederer. ie Would you have a problem employing women? I thought it was a strange question to ask when I saw it. Now I think I understand why she asked it.
goobaletta
Great article, Penarol1916! Thanks for posting it. It's one of the very best I've seen and it's certainly the best from the mainstream media that addresses the creature that is Dramarosa. Thanks again.
