Ah damn. I've literally watched SNL once since 1996 because it's been so unfunny so I didn't even remember to tune in. Will it re-run on MSNBC?
BibiBella
The other really funny bit during the Omarosa skit (where stuff kept falling on her) was when Jimmy Fallon said "Oh, the stuff is getting bigger" and Omarosa (Maya Rudolph) says "There you go with the N word!!" and he says 'No, I said bigger".

They didn't leave a thing out on this skit!

Trump's weekly NY Post recap

Advertisers Play the Trump Card.
Is there anything Trump can't sell? "The only product he couldn't have success with is hair-care products," says Samantha Ettus, president Ettus Media Management, which specializes in people as brands. "Unless it's Rogaine."

Trumping competition takes more than smarts

Trump's latest chumps. This article is business-focused about the casino problems. Interesting but not overly entertaining.

CASINO $$ MEN THUMP TRUMP

Donald Trump's phrase has local author fired up.

AP article: "You're Fired"

TV's real Trump card is Anschutz. Apparently there's a billionaire in Denver who's been approached to do a ripoff (my term) show not unlike TA.

Woohoo Carolyn!

Serena Williams is a fan! TA is mentioned a ways down in the article but she discusses who she is rooting for and why she likes the show.

Returning to normal not that easy after the world has seen you on TV. Free subscription needed to view. Mentions Bill.

Washington Post: The Reliable Source The Trumpster part comes after the George Carlin bit that opens the column.

Reliable Source columnist's Live Online discussion transcript. 8th from the bottom. Trust me it's easier to count it that way. Mentions Omarosa and someone I've never heard of who's applying for TA2.

From the New Jersey Journal article luminaire posted:

"One night I get a call and they said we are going to have a surprise for Nick next Tuesday," said Warnock, a retired attorney who now lives in Rockaway with his wife Loretta. "They said it's not going to be more than an hour or two away from New York City. I assumed it was something like Atlantic City."

I am curious how many days before the reward the family members were called. I thought the rewards followed hard on the heels of the challenges. This quote makes it sound as though the producers knew several days in advance that Nick's team would win.

I was dubious about the last-minute renter before, but now I'm really suspicious ...
prozac4mommy
I also liked the opening boardroom sketch, with Jimmy Fallon getting fired and leaving with his wheelie backpack.

You forgot to mention it was a "Spiderman" wheelie backpack!! HEE!! OMG Carolyn is definitely my BFF and I want to see her every week on SNL!! The whole thing was hilarious, and, as someone previously said, I NEVER watch SNL but couldn't resist the temptation. I am not sorry I did!! Riotous laughter ensued all night, and my fave was Trumps House of Wings (For a second I thought it would be a hair salon!!) Too bad they couldn't have gotten Julia from Seinfeld to come on and do her "Elaine Dance" for a skit with DT, hilarious shit, I tell ya!!
They truly did not miss a beat with the skits, loved the opening skit, talking about not being able to fire a black man since there were only four on the entire network........OMG good stuff!!

I think the reward was indeed the following day - BUT, that doesn't mean this was fixed at all. My guess would be that they called the relatives of all five of the players and ultimately told them that, if their kids' team won, they'd be participating in a surprise for them as part of the reward. So the relatives of all five were on some sort of "standby", and were called one way or the other once the task was over.
Celina
I actually thought that was Tina playing Carolyn in the opening skit. Glad to hear it was the real Carolyn though. Loved George saying, "I think it sucked!" He should say that more often in the boardroom. Also gotta hand it to Trump for not taking himself too seriously.

For example, remember the auction episode where they went to schmooze Russel Simmons? Kwame didn't get anywhere with the guy (whom he idolized BTW); it was our boy Troy who had to bail him out. So I don't buy the Troy can't get by with slick New Yorkers nonsense. He also charmed the Queer Eye guys with that belt thing. Troy has excellent people skills. He usually uses the country boy thing to disarm people and make them feel good about themselves.

Troy is the quintessenial underdog. That's why everyone loves Troy. He's a self-made man who managed to to be a success based on raw instinct rather than formal education. Much like Russel Simmons. Another fish out of water who's managed to build an empire. Simmons probably liked Troy right away because he was such a hick. For the same reasons, I could also see how slick ivy league Kwame would piss Simmons off. BUT, Simmons is not representative of New York society. He's an "outsider", much like Troy. Same goes for the Queer Eye boyz. They would have loved lil ole Troy, belt or no belt. Again, they's not representative of the NY business elite that DT mingles with.

On the art task, Kwame paired Assorama and Heidi together, even though they didn't get along (or maybe so he could hang with Troy). Not exactly what I'd call good judgement. Also, if Kwame's so great then how did he pick the Fish Market location? What exactly did he do during the Casino episode - Bill nailed the VIPs and Troy got the wheel, tiger, etc.

Kwame wanted to sell at the heavily touristed Seaport, but they wouldn't allow the camera crews in there so they had to move across the street to the Fulton fish market. DT probably took this into account.

Kwame was PM on the casino task. I thought he did a pretty good job managing two guys with strong personalities who don't like each other. He picked good people and let them run with their ideas. Protege also tried to include Bill socially and make him feel comfortable, and he seems to have folded into the team quite nicely.

Heidi and Assorama were both interested in the marketing/sales aspect of the art so they went to help Meghan set up the gallery. Those two actually did bond a bit over their mutual hatred of Kristi so I don't think they've always been at each other's throats. Kwame thought they could be mature adults.

"One night I get a call and they said we are going to have a surprise for Nick next Tuesday," said Warnock, a retired attorney who now lives in Rockaway with his wife Loretta.

Ah! Interesting.... So Moose gets a call one night telling him about plans for next Tuesday....
yeahwhatever
Family members for the remaining apprentices probably all got phone calls like that. They do the same thing on TAR and Survivor for family-rewards.
Mama Tiger
Yes, I remember hearing that for Survivor Pearl Islands, they'd gone so far as to fly Rupert's wife to Panama and then he was booted so she got sent straight home before the family visit reward. So I'm sure the families were alerted ahead of time, to make sure someone would be available for the reward.

GYMTASTIC said up thread:

Ohmigod, can't breathe. It would have been even funnier if they looked up and TD, George and Carolyn were throwing the stuff.

Would that not have been the BEST ?? It was funny as it was, but if they showed them above chucking down any and everything they could find.. imaging Carolyn taking aim.. I would have died laughing!
(of course, then if that had been the case I would not have been able to post this today.. so I guess things in moderation are good ;-)

I am sure "Show-your-Assorama" is going to throw a fit. Look at all she has been spewing out because of "the way she was portrayed" on TA. Can you image this?? Love it!
yeahwhatever
During that skit I said to Mr. Whatever, I hope they pan up to show Trump throwing the stuff. So I guess a lot of us thought that way. It would have been funny. Still, his line that "You can't believe what Omarosa says." was the bomb.

There was a YOU'RE FIRED party in Miami last night. Ereka and BFF Katrina were there.

Ereka looks really pretty in those pics, except for that top. What the hell is she wearing??? It looks like someone took a pair of scissors and cut a strip down her shirt. No bra? Figures. Katrina looks really old for 24. I don't think she'll age well at all. Those ladies are certainly partying it up lately.
Mama Tiger
In that last pic, Ereka really looks hideous. There's not much point in wearing a shirt that shows off your boobs when there's practically no boobs to show.

Oh, except wait. She IS the boob she's showing off. Never mind.
Tashanir
Ugh.

Is it me, or does Ereka's body look sort of--man-ish? No curves.

Katrina just looks like Susan Anton. That's always what I think when I see her. Either that or a Fembot from Austin Powers.

Obviously, Ereka has no real interest in a corporate career anymore. Although I can't say I wouldn't take advantage of the hype/parties if I were in her shoes. But, seriously, who could POSSIBLY want to hire either of these two women..even in an entertainment related field. Ereka has a bit of a speech impediment so, unless she fixes it, I'd forget about a career as any sort of host or commentator.

On one hand, I'm jealous of the attention/experience/hype that surrounds them...but on the other hand I get a slight whiff of desperation from both of these two women. Notice me, notice me, notice me...please???? Hire me, hire me, hire me...please?????

With all of the attention seeking some of these candidates have been doing, I wonder how they will deal when the hype of all this does down and they actually have to...gasp...earn a living.

Those photos look like they want to star in the next "Hot girl-on-girl action" video. Have they been surgically joined at the pubes?

Kwami speaks at Wm&Mary:
'The Apprentice' star wins over most of PBK

This is interesting:
He did defend himself against the appearance that he seemed to pick a poor location from which to sell lemonade in the first episode. In reality, he had chosen to sell at The Seaport, a well-known tourist location in New York City. It normally would have been teeming with potential consumers, however, the camera crew didn’t have a film permit for that particular area. As a result, Versacorp (the men’s group) sold lemonade in the infamous fish market. It was a flop.
Mama Tiger
That article was interesting in that it had absolutely nothing but positives to say about Kwame. How many other Apprentices can say the same thing, based on a public appearance???
Tashanir
Does anyone know of any interviews or appearances (other than viewing parties) that Bill or Nick have done?
luminaire
They really need to cast some more credible women next season. Apparently, Kristi Frank is a soft PORN star:

Was up waaaaay too late last night (this morning) and caught a DT bit on CNN (Paula Zahn's People in the News or some such). It covered his childhood through present day, and was quite interesting. If anyone is interested I'll post the highlights later this evening (I'll have to rewatch), though I don't want to bore anyone if it is a repeat, or if this belongs in the DT thread.
Meghan Jill
In that first "pic" posted on the last page, Katrina is giving off a major Paris Hilton "I know you worship me and I could care less--until you stop worshipping me" vibe. Those girls better make this time count, since they aren't even after jobs anymore--they're after status, and men, and men with status (read:money).

That Black Enterprise article makes an excellent point, that Troy started out with a lowball bid and tried to bring it up. (Actually, that sounds like something that might have been mentioned in the ep thread, but it gets so long so fast I can't keep up anymore.) Of course you don't do that--start high and end low! Once people hear a low price, you've got your work cut out for you to raise it.

One final thought: HOORAY! I am an official TWoP Loyal Viewer by demonstration as well as in my heart. I shall bear the title proudly [sharp hand-to-hairline salute to Tubey].

There's not much point in wearing a shirt that shows off your boobs

MamaTiger, I misread that and thought you said skirt, meaning slit up to there. And it just didn't phase me that one of them would be wearing a skirt that showed off her boobs.
Aatrek
I apologize ahead of time if this isn't the right place for this - I didn't want to start a new thread - but here are some captures from an MPEG video of the Trump Saturday Night Live!
Gruven
They didn't miss a thing. Even had Starr Jones claiming she knew the winner (as she did on the View, but wouldn't tell her source). So the Donald tells here here, don't believe anything Omarosa says. Which is doubly funny, because of how casually he references her obvious source after Starr had made such a fuss about not revealing; and then also how easily it is just known that Omarosa lies. This oughta be interesting on the View Monday morning.
BibiBella
Oh. my. god - those photos of BFF Katrina and Ereka - do they look like they think they "hung the moon and then some" or what?! Ereka has the WORST clothing taste...first it was that tacky hooker looking outfit on the show and now this slasher looking shirt - the rope thing looks like a ripcord waiting for a guy to pull and then voila! the whole shirt disappears. And did Katrina get a boob job or did she always look this big (and this fake) on the show?

God help them...they really are pathetic.
Wrigley
Thanks for the screen caps Aatrek . . . Carolyn saying "Live from NY" will be my new wallpaper. I'll have to rotate it with Trump's House of Wings, but I'll make due . . .

That article was interesting in that it had absolutely nothing but positives to say about Kwame. How many other Apprentices can say the same thing, based on a public appearance???

Its odd to have an article about the Apprentices where they do not make asses out of themselves. At least the author is honest that she does not care for Kwami because he is not exciting enough for reality tv.

BFF Pictures:
Katrina and Erica really seem to think that they are getting press because people like and admire them. I hope that someone asks them what do they realistically think they will get out of this type of publicity. The people from Survivor who managed to extend their 15 minutes did so because something about them was likeable.
luminaire
Maybe they're touring the party circuit to find rich husbands...
AlmondEyes
Thanks for the link to Kwame's article. I'm confused, though - he sez his lovelife is "on the uptick." Isn't he married??

Its odd to have an article about the Apprentices where they do not make asses out of themselves.

True dat. Kwame comes across as the most grounded, normal of the bunch thus far.

Erekatrina - ugh. They look like they've been rode hard and hung up wet. Have they already done Playboy? Oh, right - Katty claimed that FHM was more empowering, or some such nonsense. When it hits these two that their 15 minutes ended hours ago, Playboy will be the next stop on their publicity train.
BibiBella
Almondeyes, I don't recall ever hearing that Kwame was married...the only ones on the show that I knew were married were Troy, Tammy and Omarosa. Maybe some others were, but I don't remember.

And I so agree about your assessment of Katrina/Ereka - rode REALLY hard. And I bet anything they'll be throwing themselves at Playboy down the road to maintain their 15 minutes of fame (esp. Ereka - who, supposedly, is unemployed now. At least Katrina supposedly has her real estate job, but Ereka? Seems super desparate to somehow convert this publicity into some type of fashion/celebrity gig. Not gonna happen, IMO).
Tashanir
Out of all of the Apprentices, I think I could see Amy, Kwaame, Troy, Hedi and Sam beign involved in entertainment. Kwaame, withotu a doubt, would make a great correspondant/reporter for anything from CNN to Extra. He has such a polished, strong, aura that surrounds him.

Amy could do the spokesperson rout, too. Sje was quoted in Cosmo saying she wanted to shift careers and go into entertainment. But what was odd was that the saidd sh was never interested in acting. Didn't someone uncover a headshot collection of hers?

Believe it or not, I'd love to see Heidi or Sam host a talk show.

Everyone else just came off either too boring, too crazy or too bitchy. Ereka and Katrina better start finding a way to get a "secret" sex tape onto the web. hat's the ONLY way they'll become famous.
BibiBella
Tashanir, yes, someone found a link to a talent agency in Austin where Amy is a client - listed as model/actress. No surprise now that she wants a career in entertainment, maybe that was her motivation for doing the show.
ottoDbusdriver
In that last pic, Ereka really looks hideous. There's not much point in wearing a shirt that shows off your boobs when there's practically no boobs to show.

That's because she's a carpenter's dream --- flat as a board, easy to nail.
(but then, that's actually demeaning to carpenters. Sorry about that.)
goobaletta
One reason I posted that Kwame article originally HERE on page 95 was because of the positive way it portrayed Kwame even though the reporter was rooting for someone else. Oh yeah. And the picture of him is smokin' hot too even without showing his legs, arms, shoulders...

Those bff pix are really unflattering for the most part. What is Ereka thinking wearing that, er, top? It's not attractive, the color is basically mud, and it does nothing for her at all. I'm thinking Katty told her it looked WONDERFUL! But that's just me.

Those screen caps ROCK! How fun are they?!

Thanks to lynettefl and Aatrek for making the effort to share those pictures!

SNL was HILARIOUS last night!! Trump is my crack, and I got a huge hit last night. Carolyn was awesome, "that's what she said"!!!! And I'm glad George was on, I've missed him. Trump's House of Wings was great, with the yellow suit - I must say, he is the worst dancer I've ever seen and I've heard laughing through tears is the best emotion, but I'm convinced laughing through cringing is now!! The Regis and Kelly bit was also very funny, I wished they would have referenced the auction episode that Regis appeared in and how his "celebrity experience" sold for the lowest bid!! I was so waiting for it.

Here is an article about Gen Xers and business etiquette with somw advice from George.

"What I have seen is younger people entering the corporate world now are simply not attuned to good manners or the courtesies older people would expect," Ross said. "That's very short-sighted."

Each time he sees young people in business clothes push past an elderly person without excusing themselves, or eat loudly or sloppily in a restaurant, Ross said he makes a mental note that "that kid's got no etiquette, no manners."

But perhaps the most egregious breach of etiquette Ross sees among young professionals is swearing in public, he said.

"They use more four-letter words than I ever knew existed in my life," Ross said. "It has a negative effect on somebody when you're looking at bringing them into your corporation and they're saying things in public that could embarrass you or your company. It shows a total lack of etiquette."

Even though it doesn't necessarily involve flatware or dining behavior, when it comes to bridging personal life and the business world, "personality is the number one important trait," Ross said.

Young professionals can show personality, basic manners and proper etiquette all at once if they would just get into the habit of "saying 'thank you' for everything," he said.

I bet he couldn't stand Assy or Heidi.

Also, here is a link to some audio from the Assy bitchfest on the Atlanta radio station.

I also think Ereka looked better than she had on the show - at least from the neck up, that is. Yes, Ereka, we know you've got washboard abs. Now stop raiding Courtney Love's closet.

Katrina looks like the socialite arm-candy of a much older, wealthy guy who regularly pops up in those "Faces and Places" columns. And hadn't she cut her hair? It looks long again.

Sooooo pissed I missed SNL. Haven't watched it in years, jumped the shark eons ago yada yada, but I would have definitely at least set the VCR.
kattam6175
Don't recall these interviews with Katty and Heidi being posted before...

Katty claims she was playing matchmaker and is the reason Nick and Amy got together on the show. She goes on to say she's matched a lot of people up back home and they've ended up getting married. She won't be inviting Amy or Omarosa to dinner anytime soon. Some of the fired apprentices come back very soon and all of them come back at the end.

Heidi was happy that she was fired. She very sarcastically says she's "sure [Omarosa] will do very well in her life". She wouldn't be surprised if Omarosa dropped the "cee-ment" on her own head. She totally bashes Carolyn. She talked to a lot of TD's employees during the filming of the show and they all love working for him.

Analysis of the casino challenge by a business management associate professor, Matt Bloom, at Notre Dame.
By the time the boardroom scene took place with Amy squaring off against Katrina, Bloom was throwing in the management towel.

"Ohhh," said Bloom, when Amy lied outright about the lame idea for the car rental being hers. "Really, they have created such an ugly environment here. Honesty is gone. Team building is gone."
And this guy only watched the one episode.

I can't decide if that is entirely grammatical, but hey, they're business majors, right? If you look at it from just the acronym POV and see it as a single unit, the unit being the club, then the verb 'tackles' is correct. BUT since they are using 'students' in the sentence and not the acronym (well, except in parentheses) technically then shouldn't the verb form be 'tackle' so it agrees with the noun? Ignore, discuss, whatever. It's the Grammar Nazi in me rearing it's fugly head.

Katty claims she was playing matchmaker and is the reason Nick and Amy got together on the show.

Gee, thanks for that Katty. No... really.

Regis is currently talking about Trump's appearance on SNL with the Faux-Regis. Watching this it really is amazing how the real Regis and Kelly are actually even MORE annoying than the fake ones.

EDIT - Oh, look. Troy McClain is madder than a flea on a wet ham being eaten by a dog with two peters... Not not really, but that SOUNDS funny, and being on Regis obviously Troy is doing most of the actual funny stuff...

"You can't run with the hare and not with the hound", was Troy's defense to Regis about putting Kwame up.

Troy says that "everybody here has an accent exept me", but that he's "going to take care of his wife" instead of jumping at the various job offers thrown his way (he described a few of them, and they were obviously all er... comedic in nature).

Kelly thinks that Troy and Kwame "were the cutest couple on TV for a while". Kelly also called Troy "cute" about 5 times, and fixated on his dimples. I'm sure she said more, but it's distracting watching all of Kelly's peppy bouncing and smiling. That woman doing her on SNL is sedate compared to the real thing.

Troy made a "Ghost Rider" joke of some type, but I couldn't quite catch it.
Meghan Jill
Huge WORD to George--and the author, for that matter--about the business etiquette article. My whole generation seems to see etiquette as being "insincere" somehow: "What should it matter how I behave as long as I do my job?" Oh, how naiive. I actually had a disagreement with my best friend over this in college. She thought the term "professionalism" was code for "kissing up" and didn't see the value in dressing properly and using the right utensils.

The subject of the sentence is what determines the conjugation of the verb. Since the subject here is a collective noun, the group SIFE, the conjugation is singular third person: tackles. But if they had just said "students," the noun would be a plural one, taking the plural third person: tackle. It's like saying "the pack of wolves is circling its prey" vs "the wolves are circling their prey." See?
Sydnie
"You can't run with the hare and not with the hound", was Troy's defense to Regis about putting Kwame up.

Actually, he said "You can't run with the hares and hunt with the hounds".

He reminds me of Will Rogers so much, with his "country quotes" that are really based on common sense. All that's missing are the rope tricks.

BTW, Carolyn and George are about to appear on The View, for those who might be interested in watching it.

Nice going, Joy Behar. Not only do you totally bring down the cause of women everywhere, but you offend our goddess Carolyn when you do it!

George, Carolyn and Troy were on the View this morning, and when someone asks Carolyn why she's successful with Trump, Joy responds for her: "She's blonde and good-looking, that's why!" To the audience's credit, there were plenty of boos from the peanut gallery.

George always seems to show up in suits, Carolyn in more Casual Corner-type wear. Why is that?

And is it wrong that I giggled every time Troy smiled onscreen? I feel like a complete and total dork.
