Whee, here's a photo gallery visiting 10 years of Donald's coif PLUS a video called "Trump Bump" (incorporating snippets of Donald's pep talks: "don't blow it," "it's not personal")

Trump Tackles Hair Issue Head-on

If I'm not mistaken it looks as though he's colored his brows as well as his hair throughout the years.

Also, to defend Carolyn's husband, the article mentioned he had been the one to feed and bathe the kids. Sounds like she landed a great guy and a great career!

While her husband may very well be a great guy, bathing and feeding the kids doesn't make him so. It's another example of the double-standard - you never hear, "wow, what a great mom! She bathes her kids. And feeds them, too!"
miaK
This is such an interesting and important discussion!

Times are a changin'. It's very rare for mothers to stay at home 24/7 until their kids are all grown up. I really don't know any stay-at-home soccer Moms.

Spice, it is rare but I get the feeling that it's becoming a bit more common these days. Of the women I know of my own age (early to mid-30s) most of the moms who can afford to have opted to stay at home and I think that the rest would jump at the chance if they could. Just testimony that parenting is a demanding job in itself -- though I am in no way saying that women who continue to work aren't amazing for managing both. They are. I think that maybe a couple of the at-home moms I know would have preferred to keep working but found it just too difficult. Unlike the Carolyns and Sarah Jessica Parkers of the world, they don't make quite enough money to hire outside help for things like housework and childcare. It was actually cheaper and easier for them to stay home themselves. Why didn't their husbands stay home instead? I can only guess. Maybe the maternal pull? Their husbands make more money? Men are just lazy? I'm kidding! I'm just kidding.
Black Knight
Trump, you could be fired from today's San Francisco Chronicle. It talks about his casinos operation.

WORD! Nothing drives me more crazy than a woman saying her husband is "babysitting" their kids. Parents don't babysit their own kids. You never hear that a woman is "babysitting" her own children.

I really didn't mean to start a firestorm with my criticism of Carolyn. It just comes down to one person's belief systems vs. another's. It's not a man vs. woman thing. It's a parent vs. ambition thing. If raising a child is something you have to fit into your schedule, then perhaps you shouldn't have one.
yeahwhatever
I'm trying to figure out how not to be offended by that remark. But this is the media thread. I'll go be offended in the Carolyn thread because I don't think her decision had anything to do with parent vs. ambition, as if the two are incompatible.

You know how everybody who goes on reality television eventually gets every nasty little secret in his life exposed? No matter how well-hidden he thinks it is?

Well I think poor DT may be experiencing this too, as this coverage of his shaky finances is beginning to snowball in direct proportion to the popularity of his show.

Last night on Conan O'Brien in his opening monologue he said "Donald Trump is changing his trademark phrase from 'You're Fired' to 'Can you lend me five bucks?' "

It's ironic, because he's probably doing the show less for the $$$ he earns (not insignificant, by mortal standards, but insignificant in terms of his overall debt/equity ratio)...and more to pump up the Trump brand, and it may lead to the opposite effect.

Then again there's the net worth of Trump the individual, and the balance sheet of Trump International or whatever the (s)hell his corporate holdings are held in, and they're probably two different buckets. My guess is, the Apprentice fees and profit share go into the "Donald Trump the individual" bucket.

Seriously--can we not have the really off topic, I think, debate over whether mothers who work are being good mothers? Because I find that topic pretty pointless.
minxmarx
All right! Back on track with lessons from the Apprentice

This one's looking at you, Katrina:

Be your own cheerleader. "Great ideas often fail because of a lack of enthusiasm. I can have the best design and the best ideas, but if I am not honest and I lack a genuine enthusiasm, I will fail."

Now you can get a Trump credit card!

Katty's back. And yes, she IS still whining about Amy and Nick. Me? I'm wondering who she's shtupping at the NY Post. Really, this is just a rehashing of quotes from Katty and the Amy article I posted before. WARNING! Scary picture of Katty!

Troy's firing per the NY Post. Kind of insulting if you ask me. And yeah, it pisses me off that Katty gets a f-bombing yooge article and Troy gets nothing. Assholes.

Article from the Idaho Statesman.

USA Today's version.

Amy gets a mention in the last line of this article. The article title: Pop Tarts and Broken Hearts: For Love-Savvy Young Women, Life Is Both Sweet and Bittersweet.

Best line of Troy's Today interview? "That was one mad little girl," when talking about Katrina's apartment-rental duping. Tee-hee. And Troy confirmed that he had already told the team that they should go for the second apartment.
BibiBella
Troy told Matt, when asked, that he 'was hoping that Kwame would win it all'.

And as much as I adore Troy, he really does need to lay off all those country phrases he uses - it does get really annoying really fast. Matt asked him if he was 'playing up the country boy thing' and he said no - that he was just 'being himself'.

He also said he took Kwame to the boardroom with him - instead of Bill - because they (Kwame and him) were the 'weakest links'.

My point was that since many a supermom still has to be both fulltime mother and fulltime executive, I was impressed by the article's implication that her husband actually is as much a parent as she is and is fully involved in the parenting responsibilities. You're right that it shouldn't be an unusual occurrence that the husband actually does feed and bathe the kids, but since the stereotype of dads being uninvolved in the parenting duties still exist, I think it's ok to give kudos to couples sharing the parental duties equally. Which is what I got from the article.

Awww, I really didn't think it was possible for me to like Troy more, but his Today show interview really put me over the top this morning. He's so sweet. And yes, I do think he's been acting himself since the very beginning, as he claims, not putting on an act. In fact, I think he's the only contestant who came off in the interview exactly the same way he seemed on the show. All the others either came off much worse in their interviews (Ereka, Katrina, Omarosa, I'm looking at you!) or, sometimes, actually *better* (Heidi comes to mind). But Troy just seemed like the same old guy, which seems to indicate to me that what we saw of him was perhaps less affected by editing than some have suspected.

Anyway, what with his Troyisms--"madder than a wet hen" (and yes, it did sorta sound like "ham") and "happier than a pup with two peeters" (which I can't believe he actually said on morning TV), and, a new one I hadn't heard before "I'm happier than a clam on the shore" (or something like that)--I've fallen in love with him all over again.

That, and his two sign-language shout-outs to his sister (in both of which he said "I love you"), not to mention bringing Matt a coffee table book of pictures of Idaho, I mean, what's not to love!?

I thought it was interesting that when Matt asked him about the whole "duping" of Katrina that Troy said he'd gotten over 300 e-mails about that incident and about 50 of them were from lawyers saying it was the best "strategy" they'd ever seen. He laughed it off saying he didn't think he was engaging in "strategy" just being funny.

He also said he'd gotten job offers from all over the country, but didn't indicate if he was inclined to take one.

And for those who look for spoilers in these types of interviews, he, not surprisingly, pegged Kwame to win. Not that that tells me much in this instance.

Anyway, fun interview overall. (Oh, and how could I forget The Hat?! He had The Hat sitting next to him through the whole interview. Eeeeee!)

I made the mistake of reading this and feel sickened. I wish people would stop giving this toxic woman the time of day. (I know, I know, ratings...)

Omarosa up to her high-maintenance antics again

That was funny. She'd rather confront Ereka on Oprah?!!! Bwah! She's going to drop the bomb on her? Double bwah! Like she was going to eat her brutha up? Actually, I'd like to see her on Oprah. With Dr. Phil. That would be funny.

Little gossip from our DC ABC radio affiliate...apparently Trump calls Amy on her cell phone and she says to her friends, "he's calling again." And she's still seeing Nick off and on. The DJ made the comment that Amy is the southern type of girl Trump likes.

Edited cuz pronouns can be misleading.
BrahmaGirl
she told him that she'd rather confront Vetrini on "Oprah" because "I'd prefer to go on a national stage" as opposed to "a little Atlanta station."

This is wrong in so, so may ways. "Little Atlanta station"?? Way to bite the hand that feeds you. And really, like Oprah would ever have her studio defamed by the likes of Assorama. Girlfriend needs to keep dreaming.

According to his agent, he has the voice of Matthew McConaughey, the physical stature of Tom Cruise, and the smile of Brad Pitt. Hollywood, meet Troy.

Omarosa likes to mention her background (the projects, Goodwill clothing, etc.) because it suits her ambitions and it makes her accomplishments seem extraordinarily special. But she's the type of person who quickly forgets "the little people" once she's moved on. Before The Apprentice, she probably would have been eager to visit that "little Atlanta station," and now she thinks that anything less than Oprah is beneath her?

She's got that J.Lo. complex..."I'm really just Jenny from the block," my ass.
RainIsBeautiful
Considering Star 94 has been Atlanta's #1 radio station, like, FOREVER...and Atlanta's such a hot business market, she was an idiot for acting like such a diva. *rolls eyes*

Word, RhondaGC, major word. I thought I adored Troy before, now I know I adore him. He came off very modest and engaging in his interview with Matt Lauer. World affairs and Al Roker's colonoscopy be damned, I wanted more time with Troy!

"I'm happier than a clam on the shore"

I think it was happier than a clam at high tide. Troy did seem truly happy. He clearly enjoys his life. He clearly enjoyed his time on the Apprentice. Not like the petty bitches who felt entitled to win...

Charlotte based WCNC.com has a commentary on last night's episode, that's fairly Kwame-focused. Interestingly enough, they also felt that the "last minute signee" was a fake.

My favourite part? Right at the end, re OmygodIcan'tbelieveshe'sbacka's return:

In one of her many interviews, she was asked, “What can you do to make people like you again?” The only thing that came to my mind was: find Osama bin Laden and kill him. Short of that, and I think America will continue to despise you.
delta888
happier than a clam at high tide

Yes. When you hear the expression "happy as a clam" (which never made any sense to me -- huh? because clam shell edges are like smiles? huh?), that's just short for "happy as a clam at high tide".
Tashanir
Off air, Buzz was in the studio and eavesdropped as Solovey tried to persuade Manigault-Stallworth to join them, but she told him that she'd rather confront Vetrini on "Oprah" because "I'd prefer to go on a national stage" as opposed to "a little Atlanta station."

"I'm going to drop the bomb on her," Manigault-Stallworth promised.

She then told the limo driver to take her back to Hartsfield, where she paid for her own flight home.

Vetrini rolled her eyes off air: "I'm so over her." Later, she crooned, "Ding dong, the witch is dead."

Wow...what a surprise...Ereka "rolled her eyes" and uttered a very Heathers-like "I'm so over her."

Ereka, sweetie, darling, honey......the only reason you were asked to host that radio show was so that they could sandbag Omarosa. You were a pawn. Look up the word "duped" in the dictionary and you'll see a big pic of BFF Katrina in a micro-mini right next to it. The best you can get is a Spike TV wrestling show guest spot and some on-air radio interviews. You're boring, you're irritating, you're a nobody. No matter how many times you tell reporters that you "can't go anywhere without being recognized." Freakin' TAMMY got more airtime than you did. No one would even know who you were if it weren't for Omarosa-THAT'S how insignificant you were. So, while you may be "over her," you best pray that she does try to "drop a bomb" on you. That is the ONLY way you will get more press.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just completely disgusted at how these women have acted. It's an embarrassment to my gender.

Honestly......I hate these women. No class, no humility.

Now...on to The Enquirer (okay, I have a fractured ankle, I'm bored!)

Amy: Playing the Field-
"Amy flew to LA in Jan & Dec. to see Nick. Seems Nick thought it was a relationship, but "sources say" to Amy it was a "total booty call."
Rumor is Trumps girlfreind, Melania, does NOT like Amy after watching Amy and Trump during the People photo shoot.

(ummm...ew.)

Katrina: Her Football Star Friend-
Katty's been seen hanging out with Jeremy Shockey of the NY Giants. Seems in Feb. Katty flew to NYC to meet Shockey where they spent some time in Atlantic City. At one point, it was said that her engaement was on hold.

Ereka: Producer Seducer?-
Enquiring minds say Ereka had the hots for a producer on the show and slipped him a note after she was fired saying she wanted to take their relationship "beyond the show." Burnett stepped in and warned the producer and cast that there was no "fourth wall" breakdowns between the candidates and the crew.

(Didn't Ereka say she has a boyfriend? Maybe she met him after the show?)

Yes, because Assy still thinks that Oprah is interested in having her on.
Neko
Ereka, sweetie, darling, honey......the only reason you were asked to host that radio show was so that they could sandbag Omarosa. You were a pawn.

Actually, according to the radio station, Ereka was booked as a backup because Dramarosa was making their lives so difficult with her ever-changing demands, they weren't sure if she'd even show up (and if I remember, she didn't arrive in town until 8:30 that morning; kinda late to drive up from the airport to start the morning radio gig).

Granted, I wouldn't put it past them at all to have intended bringing the two women together unbeknownst to either, just to see the fur fly; but, if so, they probably would have been a lot more successful in keeping the information from Dramarosa until after she was on the air. Which, actually, sounds like a much better Aprils Fools joke than what they had planned.

But please do not interpret this as any type of defense of Ereka. Watching Troy's "taxicab confession" last night reminded me of Ereka's self-serving speech (not to mention Katrina's diatribe against Amy, Omarosa's delusions, and just about everything said by any of the women). Troy? you rock! Ereka? you reek!
Tashanir
Heidi's website states that she'll be doing Oprah on April 12th. Anyone else have other info?

Uh Oh....looks Like Omarosa was telling the truth. I think the week of the finale is going to be Trump TV! Oprah appears to be having the candidates on, plus Dateline is having an "Inside the Apprentice" special all in the days leading up to the finale.

Can't. Wait. To. See. This.

Katrina vs. Amy
Ereka vs. Oprahrosa

I am praying that Oprah doesn't let these ladies (YMMV) get away with any crap. Omarosa needs to see a strong black woman up close and personal.
Meghan Jill
OK, I know there's lots of Oprah love out there, but I just got a mental picture of hair-ripping and chairs flying and Steve jumping in to subdue them as the crowd chants, "o-PRAH! o-PRAH!"
Rabrab
My vision is much more sedate, but no less satifying: Oprah fixing Assorama with that flat stare she can put on when someone's being a total ass, and asking "Girl, why were you such a bitch?" then following it up with "Does that make me a racist?"
Wrigley
I think I'd like it if Oprah came on and said something like: "Omarosa won't be joining our panel this morning . . . she has proven herself to be a narcisstic pathological liar, and I will not allow her to use my show to further demean the struggle of civil rights activists and strong black women everywhere."

OK, maybe I would like the hair pulling better. Who am I kidding. (As long as Oprah wins.)
ClaireMia
The most interesting part of Troy's appearance on the Tonight Show was that he made a plea for Trump to send him to Wharton Business School - as an investment. "4 years, I'll come back, make him another billion."

I admit some of his little country-isms are cloying after a bit, but he's an endearing kind of guy, and not just because his mannerisms remind me a bit of a friend of mine.
SerendipityCA
Just shoot me now. The only consolation I had in all of this was that I didn't think Assorama would ever get onto Oprah's show, whether as an individual or as part of an ensemble. Even if Oprah is tough on her, and I doubt she will be (Assy will be a "guest")...all Assy will remember is that "I appeared on Oprah."

Oh? And just shoot me now again. Trump has a crush on Amy?

I really hate it when the world doesn't turn out the way I want it to. I'm going off-line to sulk.
goobaletta
Oh Gawd. If only Oprah would bring on some truly strong black women, like Maya Angelou for example who is a class act and verrrrrry smart, and take Omiseria to task.

If Eshreeka's going to be on I hope she brings her attorney and keeps her freaking mouth shut.

Nah. Never happen.

Oprah, I respect you, but dayam! Don't encourage these bitches!

The finances of Trump Hotels & Casinos are not a "nasty little secret." TH&C is a public company subject to the reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. That means that the company files annual and quarterly reports with the SEC which are freely available to the investing public. In fact, you can review any of the company's filings at the SEC's website (www.sec.gov) or any of a number of financially-oriented websites on the internet.

But it's important to remember that the Hotels and Casino operation are but one part of Trump's empire. It's actually difficult to gauge the financial health of Trump's overall organization because many of his ventures rely on private financing and thus their finances aren't publicly available. Only Trump and his bankers know for sure.

The point is that I keep seeing these media articles pointing to the TH&C figures as sole proof of Trump's declining worth, which is silly. Like any conglomerate, at any given moment in time some of Trump's businesses will be doing well and others won't. Trump may or may not be in financial decline, but the TH&C financials, standing alone, aren't proof positive of that fact.

Indeed, I suspect that most of Trump's ventures are doing well, because he keeps attracting capital to build them. Bankers aren't morons. If Trump really has been in years-long decline, he'd have a lot more trouble attracting financing for his new ventures.
yeahwhatever
I saw an interview on msn broadband, or something I forget, where Trump pointed out that TH&C are only 1% of his interests. They could completely tank and he'd be ok.

Amy is featured in a 4 page spread in this month's Cosmo. Some of her "fun, fearless female" quotes:

I was kind of the cheerleader and the peacekeeper. There was a hell of a lot more fighting fighting between the women than what was aired on the show.....I was the only woman who could work well with all the women.

How are we hurting the women's movement by using sex? Gucci does it, and they're targeting women. They're just doing something to catch eyes.

COSMO: Did you learn any new strategies from this experience?"
AMY: If I was on Apprentice 2, I would not speak so highly of the people I admired. For the purposes of winning on the TV show, I'd use more manipulation and less absolute honesty.

COSMO: The way the show was edited, you seemed to have a romance going with Nick. Did that actually happen?
AMY: No. He had a crush on me. I did flirt back but it was more like he was saying to everyone else, "She's the smartest, most beautiful girl I've ever met in my life." We didn't get together during filming. But after the show ended, we had a short lived romance.

COSMO: Did you make any enemies?
AMY: No, but I;m interested to see how (it) plays out. You see as the show unfolds that Katrina loves Nick and doesn't really like me. When she leaves the show she warns the guys about me, because all the guys somewhat have a crush on me. Kwame does, and Bill and I are the best of friends. Sorry, DCU, that was a bit of a non sequitur, or at least a horizontal leap. I didn't mean to say that Trump's finances are a dirty little secret, only that in doing the show (probably primarily to promote his own brand, which is his name, or at least for ego gratification), he may have inadvertently unleashed negative press that may tarnish that same brand.

And whether it's true or not that his finances are in trouble (corporate, private and personal combined), it's how the media spins it that will most likely influence public perception. The average reader of Entertainment Weekly is probably not going to go to the SEC to fact-check an article about Trump's finances.

So hope that her ass is canned this week and can't wait (if that happens) to see the "what, you're getting rid of me?!!! Beautiful, smart me?!!" expression on her face when that happens.

Tashanir, here's what I found on the Oprah website about a Trump/Apprentice show:

"How to Get Rich" - Thursday, April 8
Donald Trump tells you how to get rich! Then...he fired them; now, he faces them...right here!

So it sounds like the fired Apprentices will be on the show with Trump while he hawks his new book.

Is it just me, or does this make it seem like she's a goner? It sounds like reasons why she thinks she didn't win. And also "speaking highly of people admired" could be referring to Bill, as he's the only one she's praised to Trump so far. Sounds like Billy Boy makes it to the final two and she gets cut in the next episode.

Of course, I could just be reading too much into it.

You aren't alone, minimax, That's exactly what I was thinking. How ironic that she sealed her won fate thinking that if she kissed enough ass someone would carry her to the finish line. Opportunist, fame hungry bitch. She kept switching from Nick to Bill, depending on who was doing better in the game. Not just to win, but so that she can be featured along side one of them in the public eye afterwards. How Julia Roberts of her.

Hee hee.... Bill's right. Amy's got a God complex. So, all the guys have a crush on her......even Kwame? Now I'm thinking part of the reason she never warmed up to ole Troy is because she was jealous of his HoYay with Kwame. After reading that, I can kinda seen why Katty hates her sooooo much...

Well, she did tell Trump that she was aligning herself with the strongest people, and then decimating them when they were no longer useful to her. She's pretty much chewed Nick up and spat him out on the BR table last week, and now she's set her sights on Bill. I think she's in for a rude surprise though. Bill seems to be onto her game and her enormous ego. I bet next week she gets fired.

BibiBella, This may be a rerun. On oprah.com you can view screen caps and text from the broadcast. Sam, Kristi and Jessie appear with DT, so it's the earlier firees. On Heidi's website she says that she'll be on the show April 12th. Don't know about any of the other castmates.

Also, is the US Weekly with JLo on the cover a new one? I was looking at the TA spread while in line at the grocery store and didn't check the date. Omarosa has the largest photo, and there is a shot of Sam wearing a hat while taking a bubblebath. Jessie seems to be launching a clothing line called "Be Fired." Won't post more than that in case it is old news.

Oh sweet babby jeebus. The men have somewhat of a crush on her? And to think I liked her best of the women. It pains me to admit that. She must have loved Bill's comment about her god complex and how all of america got to see that nobody waited up for her to come back from the boardroom. Wasn't it Katrina who commented that Amy thinks all the men love her and the women want to be her best friend? True dat.

Hard to believe that I find myself missing Heidi ...

Not sure if this counts as a media article, but here it is. In last year's movie, "Spellbound," they featured a group of teenagers competing for the National Spelling Bee. One of the kids is a black girl from the DC ghetto named Ashley who, while other kids have spelling coaches and foreign-language lessons, simply has a dictionary to go over with her teacher after school.

After a glance at the IMDB page for the movie, I discovered how similar some people think her life is to our own Omarosa's. They decided to post a very favorable message about her.

Seems like Omarosa is ripe for ALL kinds of unfavorable comparison, even to junior high spelling champions!

Wrigley, I don't think this is a re-run on Oprah...because for the listing of "This week's shows" the site specifically says "ALL NEW SHOWS" (she's been doing re-runs the past few weeks)...and Trump's book just came out in bookstores about 2 weeks ago.

Could be a re-run but that doesn't jive with her site saying "all new shows". (Plus I wouldn't be surprised if Heidi got the date wrong on her own site, who knows).
