ITA, oh vienna. It would be all over the trades and the shows like ET, Access Hollywood, etc.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me if she was only having an audition and inflated that in her own mind into a pilot featuring her. Somehow that doesn't seem like too much of a stretch for this fabricator.
DariaG
Yeah, oh vienna, I think it was the speed-of-light aspect that made me discount it, because we're going from concept to development to green light on the pilot to pilot almost overnight here, and I don't believe that happens. OTOH, I've been on boards with the reliable Vermicious Knid for a while now, so I will assume that pilots really are made year-round. On yet another hand, I totally agree that if this were true, it would be in the trades.

I'm starting to wonder if she's mentally ill. (Yeah, I know, I'm probably way behind the rest of you, and I don't read the "racer threads", where you've probably all named a syndrome after her already.) But her media statements are getting increasingly bizarre. I'm waiting for an article about her going to some spa or something to get away from the stress. In other words, I'm waiting for a crack-up article.
Vermicious Knid
I was merely commenting on the possibility of a pilot being filmed now. It could be. Now whether or not she's actually involved in one is another story. Given her history of pathological lying I would say the odds of a major part being offered to her are pretty well zero.
oh vienna
I was merely commenting on the possibility of a pilot being filmed now. It could be.

Oh yeah, Vermicious Knid (truly excellent name, btw), I didn't mean to imply that I disagreed with you on that -- in fact, this is the main pilot season right now, so all the new shows that will premiere for the fall season are currently filming.
yeahwhatever
Seems to me like it went like this:

Pilot currently in production decides to do some stunt-casting and calls our favourite queen of all she surveys. It's a walk on. One line (given to her to feed her ego but destined for the cutting room floor). She's buying a suit or something. Drama Queen can't walk across the room and look at a suit without Motivation, so she asks her director what's her Motivation? He looks at her, what? You're all DeNiro now? He makes up some shit on the spot. She gives herself a backstory to explain why she's in this shop looking at that suit and presto! It's a role created for her blah blah blah.
oh vienna
You're all DeNiro now?

I can't wait to see Omarosa go all Taxi Driver on someone: "You talkin' to me? Are you talkin' to me? Then who the f-bomb else you talkin' to? I don't see any other most classiest people around here!"
Tashanir
As DariaG notes (and as I mentioned in the Omarosa thread), pilot season is in full swing right now in L.A., which is one of the reasons why it strikes me as simply impossible that either A) a new sitcom was fabricated for Omarosa for which she would be filming the pilot "tomorrow" (!) or B) that even an existing sitcom would be able to be rewritten to incorporate a fairly well-defined role such as the one she describes

Actually, Matt LeBlanc was just on Extra and he commented that they just began casting on his new series "pilot" episode. His series has already been greenlighted and set into the schedule for next fall. He siad filming will begin in late April. So, I think the casting aspect of pilot season is what is going on right now. Pilot episodes are either a) the first episode of a greenlighted series or the b) test episode of shows that want to be picked up. So it's possible that O. was cast in a test pilot" episode of a show that was conceived months ago and hoping to be picked up.
oh vienna
Filming definitely takes place throughout the spring; I know folks who are working on pilots that are in production right now, and others who are still hoping to get work later in the season. But O specifically said she would be shooting her pilot "tomorrow" -- and presuming she spoke to the writer yesterday, that would mean she's supposedly filming today. If she was cast in anything that was going to film so quickly and for one day only, then I'd expect the very most she got was a walk-on, not the specific role with backstory and husband she mentions in the article.
Gringa
There are dozens of pilots shot throughout the spring, and whoever mentioned stunt-casting upthread is probably exactly right. It's probably a shitty sitcom that needs a hook to have even a prayer of getting picked up, and Assorama is it. Who knows, maybe she'll be a regular on the next Herman's Head.
Meghan Jill
Regarding the article in The Hill - maybe I'm spoiled by the intellect of fellow TWoP posters, but does Omarosa seem to have the writing skills of an 8-year-old? I feel like I'm reading my cousin's third grade book report here!

Well, she didn't actually write the article (there is a by-line at the very bottom) but it did sound rather disjointed, I agree.

Boy, am I glad somebody mentioned it! (And it's amazing the posts you miss when you stay away for two days--darn you addictive TWoPpers!) The article was all simple sentences...nary a conjunction in site.

Am I the only one who is really tired of hearing about Omarosa? I'm with Miss Alli on this one--she's lost the fun one-we-love-to-hate vibe and is just pathetic now.
Rabrab
There's also the possibility that the sitcom is for the Howard University TV station (where her "talk show" is.) A lot of colleges and universities with TV classes have a CATV station that airs student productions.
Grifter
We can only hope the inevitable "wacky neighbor" is played by Sam! I'm already anticipating the unavoidable Sam and Assorama get locked in a walk-in freezer/elevator between floors/safe episode.
quickychick
I, I, I, I, I, I, I. Shut UP Osama. Was the Hill article written by a twelve-year-old?

"I’m shooting the pilot tomorrow." "I'm," not "we." A one woman show? Where her schizoid personalities run the cameras, lights, act, and edit, too?
wiggygirl
Does anyone Know when Trump is on SNL? I can hardly wait to see the skits they run on the Apprentice. There HAS to be something about Assaroma on there.
Flying Penguin
wiggygirl, DT's hosting SNL on April 3. Funny thing is, they didn't even mention the musical guest accompanying him.. is The Donald performing? Or The Hair?
Vermicious Knid
Somebody must have caught Trump on Regis this morning.

NBC will be pimping The Donald on various specials before and after the finale. A Dateline special on 4/14 will go Behind the Apprentice, then on Friday 4/16 there will be a two hour Dateline called The Apprentice Story. Both to be repeated on Saturday 4/17.
PikeyPower
Gawker has an amusing blurb this morning while linking to yet another NY Post article:

· Apprentice contestants have all gone back to their sad daily lives until the live season finale on April 15 -- except Omarosa, who circles the globe on her broom, threatening to run for political office and trigger the end times.

Heh.
goobaletta
Watching Trump on Regis now. (We get it an hour later than many markets do. Bleah.) They've showed on of the music videos and a clip from the show and they talked about the contestants. Going over to the spoiler page to type about the clip and what TD said about the contestants.

BWAH!!! They're interviewing Ethan from Survivor. I think that's his name. Anyhow TD just looked at this guy and asked outright, "Jerri's your Omarosa, right?" The audience screamed and so did I. I've heard about this Jerri. I don't think she has anything on Owannabadiva.
MandolinViola
From The Hill article:
I played viola for the youth orchestra.

That seals it - Omarosa's nuts. I know from experience that you have to be crazy to play the viola.
Gruven
Saw the last 20 mins of Trump on Regis. He was awkward, didn't know what to do with his hands, with his body. It's not an easy gig.

On the View, they're saying that the NY post spoiled the ending this morning, Starr insisted she knows who will win, Meredith was saying, well, wait, isn't the 15th live and to be a decision between two people. Starr said she couldn't say another word, otherwise it would be obvious how she knew. WTF?
oh vienna
I know from experience that you have to be crazy to play the viola.

Oh great, now Omyheadtrauma's just given the world another reason to tease violists. *sighs*
kattam6175
Starr insisted she knows who will win...Starr said she couldn't say another word, otherwise it would be obvious how she knew.

I can't believe I'm about to ask this question, but did Star sound like the cat who ate the canary or was she just kind of stating it matter of fact-ly. The reason I'm asking is...if she was happy about knowing, it probably means it's somebody she likes. If she's just kinda meh about knowing, it's probably somebody she doesn't like.

*head hung low* I'm so pathetic!
peacheskdd
Mary Mitchell's column ran in the Chicago Sun-Times on Sunday. I didn't see it until today. Interesting analyisis from someone who says she liked Omarosa in the beginning.
goobaletta
Excellent article, peaches! Thanks for sharing. Here are the final two sentences:
For all her tough talk, Omarosa is the only person who broke down and cried after being fired.

Instead of giving viewers a glimpse of "racism in corporate America" Omarosa gave them a view of a stereotypical black woman in over her head.

Word.

ETA: I just read the Page Six item on the show. Star Jones is talking out her butt. There's nothing new. All it says is what the final six people have been doing since the taping ended, in order as listed in the article.
  • Nick's at his job selling copiers better than the Pope in L.A.
  • Bill's in Chicago running cigarsaroundtheworld.com.
  • Amy's in Austin doing her hi-tech gig.
  • Troy's in Boise being a mortgage broker.
  • Katrina's selling real estate in Miami.
  • Kwame, no longer working for Goldman Sachs, is hosting The Apprentice viewing parties around NYC.
I dunno what Ms. Jones thinks she knows, but I think she's full of it.
Blondie
...except Omarosa, who circles the globe on her broom, threatening to run for political office and trigger the end times

Tee Hee!

Also read the Mary Mitchell article & thought it was a pretty good analysis of how most of us had changed our minds about Ohsowannabeadiva as each episode was aired. I was a little irked tho about why Ms Mitchell felt the need to note the gender & race demographics of the final six, "...and one black man." Is this supposed to be relevant to something?

I guess I'm just petty, too, 'cause I just don't get that Omarosa is 'stunningly attractive' (but I'm just jealous, of course.) Sorry, ppl, but maybe it's because I reserve using the word "stunningly" for really, really, really impressive stuff. Her outward appearance is attractive, yes, but is now marred to most of us by the knowledge that she seems to have that 'tiny little piece of coal' for a heart like the Grinch!

Oh, and is a big, fat liar!
BrahmaGirl
Kwame, no longer working for Goldman Sachs, is hosting The Apprentice viewing parties around NYC.
I dunno what Ms. Jones thinks she knows, but I think she's full of it.

Maybe she thinks that, since Kwame is not at Goldman Sachs anymore, he is the winner. Alas, she forgets that the winner has not been picked yet...even though this fact has been hammered into our heads for the past month or so!
pomme de terre
I don't know if it quite counts as a "media article" but in IMDB's trivia sheet for TA, it says "the ending clip each week showing the fired applicant exiting the Trump Tower and entering a cab was actually filmed during one of first few days of production to cut down on the cost of having to set up for such a shoot each week. Every contestant had this clip filmed regardless of whether they were actually fired or not." Which explains the different outfits/hairdos and exact same cab every week.

Also, from TheOnion.com (a satirical site). I feel your pain, fictional Ellen. I never thought a Trump-based reality show would suck me in so much either:

Reality Show Slowly Sinks In
EAST LANSING, MI—Though she'd lived in denial for nearly a month, toy-store manager Ellen Cranmer admitted Monday that the reality show The Apprentice has finally sunk in. "Normally I never watch those stupid reality shows, and I certainly don't integrate them into my regular week," Cranmer said. "But since around the time of the Trump Ice challenge, I've been passing on social events so I can be home Thursdays at 9 p.m." Cranmer said that she was shocked when she realized she hadn't missed a single episode, and saddened by her belief that Amy will win.
Penarol1916
I love Mary Mitchell, she always has such an interesting take on things.
She brought up the race and gender of things, because she tends to be mostly concerned with that aspect of things in the news, she usually has a pretty interesting take from that side.
AlmondEyes
Am I the only one who is really tired of hearing about Omarosa? I'm with Miss Alli on this one--she's lost the fun one-we-love-to-hate vibe and is just pathetic now.

You're not alone, honey, not by a longshot. There's nothing worse than a reality show contestant who overstays his/her 15 minutes and refuses to acknowledge the none-so-gentle reminders to exit stage left.
SerendipityCA
Onr tonight's Extra they talk about The Apprentice, and I think the spoiler that appeared in the New York Post about Kwame being the winner. Then Donald Trump says something to the effect of (this is close to verbatim): "Don't believe it. The only person who knows who won is me...and I don't even know who won, because that winner will be determined live on April 15th"

He definitely used the word "won" in past tense. So....was that a slip, followed by a nice recovery? In all fairness, there was practically no hesitation between the two parts of the sentence, so I'm inclined to believe he just worded it funny.
Rabrab
I don't think it was a slip. He was commenting on statements about who "won" not who "wins", so it's fairly natural to use the same construction. Trump's not a novice at speaking in public. He seems to pretty much say what he intends to say, no more and no less.
DariaG
Okay, we have interviews with George and Carolyn! She makes an appropriately snarky comment about the female contestants' apparel.
M. Darcy
The Donald - the new NY Tourist Attraction The teenage girls love him!
whip1
Okay, we have interviews with George and Carolyn!

Too bad Omarosa doesn't follow George's line of reasoning:

"What you see is what you get. There's no acting. That's the way I am. If I come out sounding fairly difficult, sometimes I am."
RainIsBeautiful
From the interview with George:
board meetings were closer to two hours, instead of just the few minutes seen on the NBC show each week

If TPTB ever release The Apprentice on DVD, I would love to see all two hours of Boardroom for every episode. I'd imagine it would be better than the rest of the show!
goobaletta
Daria, thanks for posting that article. It makes me love George all the more. I find it very hard to believe he's not getting mash notes. I bet Carolyn sure is!

I just finished the NY Times article on tourists and Trump. Excellent closing lines:
At least one group of tourists, from Alabama, was unfazed by Trump Tower or its namesake. Trump Tower is, after all, a shopping mall, so as their chartered bus idled in front of the building, they hurried inside - to use the bathroom.

Hee!

News Flash: Ex-'Apprentice' Star Stands by Race Claim - NEW YORK (AP) - Fired "Apprentice" Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth got plenty of love Thursday at Ebony magazine's awards luncheon. After her "firing," the 30-year-old claimed former contestant Ereka Vetrini had called her the "n-word." Vetrini has vigorously denied the allegation. ~ When questioned, Vetrini admitted she had call Stallworth the "C-word", not the "N-word". She went on to say she can understand how Stallworth would get the 2 confused as there are only 11 letters between them--Trip N' Tyme Morning Radio Show, Indiana

I can't tell if this is said toungue in cheek or not. But, given Ereka's penchant for tossing around the F-bomb on the show, it's not much of a reach for me to think it's real.
Blondie
But all evidence that we’ve seen suggests that her injury was more in her head than on her head.

Just ONE of my fav quotes from the "Hall of Shame" article on OhImsuchaliar!

Also loved the quick bios on George & Carolyn!! Would have lurrvveedd to see her face & hear her inflection as she said "someone in the boardroom had to wear business attire." Too Funny & so true!

Oh thank you. My brain with its maddening need for consistency in film thanks you as well. In fact, my brain sends you a drink.
iMissEthan
The teenage girls love him!
You see, this is why I didn't want to watch the show to begin with. This hit is just going to make him even more egotistical than before, if that's possible. A standee cutout of himself? Props to anyone who defaces The Hair with a Sharpee.

Interesting, but what about the taxi cab confessionals? Those haveto be realtime but has anyone noticed their clothes/hair looking different?
mommythek
When you say "realtime".....I can't believe they don't give them a few minutes to compose themselves: get a few thoughts together, wipe the tears away, etc.
erinjsnark
I think the confessionals are "real"....in that they're at least filmed after the firing is done and long after the walk-to-the-cab has been taped. Though I think there have been a few outfit changes between boardroom and cab. Omarosa, for one, was wearing a high top in the boardroom and a plunging neckline in the cab. I think there were others as well.
Kazoo Zak
Those haveto be realtime but has anyone noticed their clothes/hair looking different?

The clips of the cab ride are on the NBC website as are photos of people as they're getting fired. The women have more color variety in their outfits, so they're the only ones where you can tell.

Heidi, Jessie, and Ereka clearly appear to be wearing the same thing in the cab as in the boardroom. Kristi--I'm pretty sure. Tammy's cab suit could be double breasted and the boardroom suit looked single breasted but that seems unlikely.

Omarosa is wearing black and low cut in the cab and grey with a higher neckline in the boardroom. Maybe she ****ed up a storm that she wanted to CHANGE for her big FACE TIME WITH THE CAMERA and the executives decided, let her have her way, just to put an end to it all. Ereka holds up a bottle of Trump Ice, too, so I suspect there is a definite time lapse beyond getting their stuff that the Apprentices get. In her case I could see her asking for the prop and the producers having few problems with giving her one--especially as it's more exposure for Trump Ice(maybe she had that in mind.) I don't think even Omarosa could be terribly malicious weilding a bottle of Trump Ice. Actually, I don't want to know if she'd manage to.

Hair in the cab = hair in the boardroom as far as I can tell. I remember discussion of Jessie's hair being up as she walked out and down in the boardroom but...

I guess it's established they did the walking out to the cab bit earlier. The question remains--how do they get into the cab to give the final interview? They can't have the interview before they're fired--if so they don't need a lousy Apprenticeship for business success. Perhaps there's a studio in the basement, next to the boardroom, where technicians can simulate the background passing by a cab, so people don't have to go out just after they're fired. The alternative to avoid paparazzi completely would be to move everyone fired, underground, to Trump Towers and have them shuffle off in cabs one by one, which is totally unwieldy.
lyric
Edited because on second read of the last few posts, I'm totally confused as to where the confusion is :)

My take: they set up the "exiting the building" shots early on, en masse, and maybe had lighting setups and things that made it easier to do one of those shots for each contestant in one big filming session.

It doesn't sound like the timing of the show's filming vs. when the show started airing was such that they had to worry about crowds of people seeing the firee each week(?), so it probably doesn't matter how each fired apprentice got into the cab. I just assumed they do have a camera crew with them in the cab (as they often do on the tasks) to capture their final words.
bpr
lyric is right. If you notice, the exiting the building shots is shot from slightly overhead, and the camera swings in toward the firee. Then, as the cab leaves, the camera swings out ABOVE STREET LEVEL and goes out into the street a little bit. All this has to be done on a crane, and it's easier to do it once and get the permit for it one time than 13 or 14 times at the same place (although I have noticed they've used crane shots occasionally in set-ups for the tasks the Apprentices are assigned).

And as lyric points out, there was no need for complete secrecy in this initial go-round. If the show is shot in NY in the future, I think it'd be relatively easy to take the firee to some other place, catch a cab, and do the interview then, in order to thwart any potential onlookers/paparazzi staking out Trump Tower. A simulated cab ride or a secret underground passage is really not necessary.
Kazoo Zak

Not necessary?! It'd be more grandiosely TRUMP that way though!

Still, fired apprentices would have to be taken out of the building some time. Weren't they sent to a remote location where they got business tips? And assuming paparazzi had 24 hour surveillance of all exits(maybe I'm giving them too much -err- credit for persistance, and I suspect even if they get wind of a possible hit show, they're snooping on the off chance they'll get a scoop...) if people just leave in clear visibility after being fired, they could compare notes and see who came out in what order.

I agree, if you can get them to some place a good way away, there's no problem. But I imagine the initial step has to be failsafe and there needs to be a back exit you can drive a limo with dark windows or something through. Or maybe I'm just pressing too hard to look for something extra cool and sneaky that needs to be done. My imagination's been festering recently and has lashed out in some odd ways.
erinjsnark
Weren't they sent to a remote location where they got business tips?

Whaaaaat??? They got business training after being fired? Not. Fair. If you tell me they also got to go to Six Flags with George and Carolyn, I'll be seriously ill.
iMissEthan
thwart any potential onlookers/paparazzi staking out Trump Tower
The filming was completed on these episodes months ago, way before anyone had any idea the show would be a hit. I doubt very much any paparazzi would have staked out Trump Tower in the late summer/early fall. They probably didn't even know the contestants were staying at Rump Tower back then. And yes, that was a typo, not deliberate, but it's funny enough that I'm leaving it as is.
bpr
Right, iMissEthan, but what I was saying was that "in the future", onlookers/paparazzi might get the idea to stake out the show. ITA that it was off the radar screen this time, but from now on, it'll draw attention. Maybe they'll have to use the DeLuxe TrumpCopter to take 'em off the roof or something.
