Bumping this thread to share the horror that has invaded my brain since yesterday's episode. I wouldn't exactly call the ep Taylor-centric, but there was a great deal of Taylor, agreed? For whatever reason, I couldn't fall asleep last night and I started imagining the scene from Cry-Baby in which Amy Locane sings, "Please, Mr. Jailer." But I was actually convinced that it was really "Please, Mr. Taylor," and her writhing around on the jail cell bars became ever more scarring.

It disturbs me that we were forced to feel sorry for Taylor. That shit is just wrong.

I know, but after feeling sorry for Taylor, his speech at the end made me hate him even more.

Count me in as having felt bad for Taylor. I wasn't even cured by his recount demand. I thought it was endlessly amusing, and I am interested to see how if his character changes at all post election.

I was feeling bad for poor Taylor right up until he called for the recount. I actually cant believe he did that. Hello Taylor, you lost by more then a thousand votes....you are done for.

I bet Jackson voluntarily gives up the job to Taylor. Isn't that what always happens on tv? That is, if the plotline isn't dropped completely.

You're probably right, healing fish. But I do hope that Jackson has enough sense to approve Lorelei's parking and change the rule about how far structures have to be from the property lines before he does it.

ladyrott, he called for a recall election, not a recount.

Seems like this answer should be a) obvious or b) able to be found via Google, but neither is true for me, so I'm going to ask here: what is the actor's name who plays Taylor? I'm trying to figure out where he lives - it's probably LA but I could have sworn I saw him in my Whole Foods (Chapel Hill, NC) this summer.

His name is Michael Winters, alitris. I'm having no luck finding out where he lives, unfortunately, as there seems to be remarkably little information about him at any of the websites I'm familiar with.

Thank you! It's a relief to know his name, finally, at least. I really can't fathom that it was so hard to find; I must have been seriously stupid. I always look for him when I'm in Whole Foods :)

I think it was funny that Taylor, of all people in the entire world, was the FIRST to know about the Luke/Lorelai marriage. First one Luke approached to buy the Twickham house. First one who actually found out about the engagement.
I personally liked it. It was another quirky townie thingy, meant to show how involved even the most unlikeable townie was in everyones personal business...humourous. I wouldn't have taken the storyline any other way-Taylor's the character you love to hate

About 20 years ago I used to work in theater with Michael Winters. He is a nice guy.
It was driving me nuts when I first started watching this show, he looked so familar but I couldn't place him until I saw his name in the credits.
20 years ago, he was doing a lot of theater in CA. Both in San Francisco at ACT and in Santa Maria at PCPA which is where I worked with him.

In community science-class today we learned about a guy named Taylor, and now I think I know where ASP got that name from. Apperantly this Taylor had a theory (scientific management)that the best way to run a community was to always be in total control of what all people are doing at all times. Making one's citizen's work as machines, as if they were mechanical, without considering anyone's needs. I think there are traces of this kind of thinking in Taylor Doose. He will do anything to control Stars Hollow, decide what it should look like and feel like and so on, he wants everyone to do their fair share, and he thinks good leadership (more like "his leadership") is important.
Just thougt I'd mention it....

That's interesting, ainie. Taylor is too anal for his own good, but I think Jackson's (very) brief stint as town selectman showed that there is more to keeping Stars Hollow the kind of town they all love to live in than meets the eye.

When I first started watching the show in like the middle of S1, I thought Taylor and Patty were married. Hee.

As much as I find Taylor annoying most of the time, he does occassionally get some gems. From Ballroom & Biscotti:
TAYLOR: Scoop toward you, rolling smoothly. Very good, Ginger. Nice symmetrical balls there, Joshua. Easy on the nuts, easy on the nuts. One cherry, and then present your sundae with a Taylor Tip.
Hee!

I've always sort of liked Taylor (not as much as Lane, but more than Kirk, for ex.) and thought the actor did a good job.
However, I just saw the same actor, Michael Winters, play the Captain in Shaw's "Heartbreak House" (at Intiman in Seattle) and was blown away. He's very very good.
(And it was sort of funny at first, because at least to start out with, before the play gets deeper, the Captain has a very Taylor vibe.)

I absolutely despise Taylor, and would be happy if he found his true love and took off with her/him to live in the woods, where he would be eaten by a bear of the "godless killing machine" type. That makes me love Michael Winters, who has done an astounding job developing the character.

HEE. My husband was in the same room reading a magazine when I was watching B&B one time. They came to this part and I saw him kind of pause, then look at the TV with the same look on his face that Luke had in
Afterboom when Kirk said "Yes I have some balls." Cracked me UP.

Oh, come on,
roseyrose, we already
know who Taylor loves [a particularly handsome flannel-covered, tight jeans-wearing diner-owner comes to mind]. Why else do you think Taylor had that gigantic window installed between the diner and his ice cream store? What logical need was there for such a thing other than to keep the object of his affections in plain view 24/7?
Oh, and don't forget their hand-holding in
Crap-o-rama...
As long as Luke stays in SH, Taylor isn't going anywhere.

Sorry, didn't mean to gross anyone out. Though I don't blame Taylor for wanting to stare at Luke all day, do you? Besides, I wasn't hinting that Luke returns those feelings, it is very very very clear that he doesn't. I do miss seeing their fights, though, especially considering how heated Luke would get and his biting remarks towards Taylor. Hmmm, a heated Luke, I'm starting to imagine him getting heated in a totally different way towards me, if you know what I mean. ;)
What does bhel mean, SassyPaws?

oh God I know. I just didn't want to put in it writing. But Taylor should be proud. He should shout it from the rooftops. Or, you know, not.
I think "bhel" is a typo. It should be "bleh?"

You're right. It should have been bleh. Sometimes, my typing is dyslexic, a right hand left hand issue.

Sassypaws, I doubt it's your typing. My typos are entirely the result of a dyslexic keyboard.

There are just so many acronyms flying around these threads, that I thought bhel was just another one to add to my confusion. I guess I was having a blonde moment.
I think the only reason I can abide Taylor is his admiration (or whatever they call it these days) for Luke. At least he shows good taste in something. Poor Luke!

When was the last time we've seen Taylor? Seems like forever--"Knit, People, Knit", maybe?
