I'm really liking Rory's hair now. It almost makes me want to hack off my hair - my hair looks like Lorelai's - but I don't think it would work out. The last time I cut my hair that short, it just went into frizz/curly mode and I know despite hair care products it would just do the same and not look as nice as Rory's.

Just a question...was Dean's hair ever as floppy as it is now? It was longish before, but now it's got that whole flippy wing-thing in the front.
I covet Rory's hairstyle. Is AB's hair naturally that straight, or does the stylist have to attack it regularly with a flatiron and a blowdryer? (I'm curious, because I knew a girl in high school whom I thought had stick-straight hair...until she came to school one day after letting it air dry, with pretty ringlets.)
I like it when they let LG's hair go in waves. It looks much better than when they straighten the life out of it; it looks too harsh.
As for Paris' hair...wearing long but tied back suited her, as it looked severe (matching her personality, hee).

Dean's hair has never been the most attractive thing about him, Zif. It's always always looked as if he didn't comb it as often as he should, but it's been worse this year than it ever was before, for what that's worth.
Lorelai's hair always looks great to me, but that's true of just about everything about her. ;-)

I understand the show is cutting their hair short for the "co-ed" look, but I liked both Rory's and Paris' hair long. Maybe because my hair would never grow that long and straight.
LG's hair has looked particularly beautiful this season. I like her hair all one length as opposed to choppy layers and funky bangs. Her hair is sooo long, I'm starting to wonder if she's wearing extensions.
To the men: Shave! Except for you, Luke. I love you Luke Danes!! Just the way you are.

I usually prefer long hair on women, but I love Rory's haircut! I think she looks so beautiful with it. It really brings out her eyes even more.

Nope, it's really that long. I saw Lauren Graham on Conan last night and her hair was long (plus a little straighter than normal.)

I've been meaning to say this, especially before season 5 starts shooting: Please, Lauren, go back to your dark hair color and the silky texture. In the season 1 DVDs, your blackish hair--combined with the pale skin, blue eyes, and red lips--is just gorgeous, whether it's full and wavy or pulled back in a ponytail. In season 4, your hair was too brassy and too frizzy--I think you're overprocessing it. You are much too young and bee-yoo-tiful to be going the route of "older equals blonder" (see Walters, Barbara).

ITA. Season 4 was a parade of bad hair for Lorelai - I know they wrote her lack of time for hair care into the show, but c'mon!

We agree yet once again Miss Crabtree! I think the dark hair, pale skin with blue eyes is so beautiful. I thought LG was so much prettier in S1 than S4.

She may have been prettier, but they did not light her as well. Sometimes in S1 her hair looked dull, not shiny, and the lighting didn't do her pretty skin or eyes justice.

Well, maybe it has something to do with the fact that my DVD's have a much sharper and clearer picture. So LG looks better to me on the DVD's than the current show on the WB. I'm starting to wonder about the quality of my cable company.

You're right LiberryLady. The lighting was poorly crafted and dulled everything. It's like they were trying to tone down her beauty. Heh.
I didn't mind her hair at the beginning of season 4, and although I'm partial to the darker/straighter coiffe on her, she's still stunning in any light and with any do

Lorelai's hair really bugs me this season. The weird layers have got to go.
I always like it when it's pulled back in a low ponytail, but has anyone else noticed that she has major undergrowth that can't be pulled back, and is then unfortunately slicked onto her neck?
It looks kind of gross, and when you notice it, it becomes impossible to ignore. Some episodes I wish they would quit filming her from the side when she has her hair pulled back because it is SO distracting. I almost wish she would just shave her neck already.

It's not "undergrowth" it is very fine, very curly hair (higher disulfide bridge #/hair than the rest of her curly hair) and therefore it cannot be straightened easily, even with something like thermal reconditioning.

I find it unnerving and distracting and have difficulty paying attention to the scene because I'm screaming at the television "Who did that to you?"

A friend of mine announced today that she was thinking about getting her hair cut like Sookie's. I told her to be careful with that...sometimes, it's all right, but other times I wonder what she did to make the hair stylists hate her so much. I hope my friend doesn't get her hair cut like that; after all, she is a friend. And friends don't let friends get nasty hair cuts.

Agreement on the bad Sookie hair. What happened to the longish, dirty blonde hair of early Season 4? But I do love Rory's hair. I wish my hair would do that.

I wish my hair would do that.
With $500 worth of hair products and a stylist to do touch-ups every five minutes, your's would.
I don't understand what happened to Sookie's bangs. They are all uneven and don't even have any shape. How anyone can think they look good is beyond me. She had such nice bangs in the first few seasons and they shaped her face so well- why would she go and do something that horrible?

Sookie's hair strongly resembles one of the haircuts I gave my Barbie when I was five, using safety scissors.
I rather like LG's hair so far this season. It makes me forget all about the horrors of the disgusting highlights from the S5 premiere. Blech.

One time, my sister's friend was cutting my best friend's bangs and someone walked through the door mid-cut. My friend turned her head, and "snip!" Her bangs went from her eyebrow on one side to her hairline on the other.
That look was better than Sookie's hair now.
But, MM deserves a pass. You know, newborn and all.

Huh? Did she just have a baby or are you referring to the character?
Anyhoo, I like Rory's hair. I'm always on the fence on Lorelai's though. Sometimes I think it looks really good...sometimes I think it looks too messy...sometimes I think it looks too "processed"

Sookie's hair looks like one of the babies put gum in the front and she had to cut "bangs" to get it out. Poor SOokie.
Rory's hair, on the other hand, is great!

goredsox05, I also thought Melissa McCarthy recently had a baby, but now I can't find any mention of it on the web. Are we both delusional?
As for her hair, it looks like someone did too much razor cutting on her bangs. That someone should be fired, stat.
In other hair news, Lorelai's hair is looking dark these days. She could do for some highlights, imo.

Davey got ahold of

I think everyone who lives in Stars Hollow has huge hair problems this year. Maybe the WB is cutting the budget and started with the hairdressers.

Upon reading this, I realized I have officially been brainwashed by my state (Texas) into thinking that big hair is fabulous. I've been secretly enjoying Emily's hair all season. It seems very pageant-y to me. In a good way.

It looked to me like Sookie got a hair cut mid episode this week. She had it longer, and I think, in ponytails for the first part of Godmother, but then, at the christening, it was too short to put in ponytails. Also, count me in with those of you not liking her new 'do.

She did have a baby. When Sookie was pregnant with Martha, that was a real bump.
Actually, there was an article/interview with Melissa McCarthy in the Media thread a couple weeks ago where she was complaining (good-naturedly) about wearing the fake pregnancy belly last season, so I don't think she was really pregnant.
ETA: On topic? I also think Sookie's haircut this season is less than flattering...

Oh, I thought I read something where they made Sookie pregnant again because MM was actually pregnant, but I could be mistaken.
Rory does have a "Marianne Faithfull" thing going on with her bangs, and I want to try it out too. I mentioned it to my mom (who I thought would be encouraging) and she said I shouldn't even try it because I would hate it and I would have to endure the growing out process again. It took me a year, IIRC.
Rory's hair looked awful in the 40s curls, maybe it would have looked better without the hat, but IIRC it looked better when they did the dance marathon episode.

The problem with Rory's hair was that it didn't even look very era-appropriate. Yes, she had the 'rolls' going in the front, but the back looked fried and crimpy, not curly. I think her current everyday style, with the loose waves, and then adding the rolls to the front, would have been more appropriate.

I am soo tempted to get my hair cut like Rory has her's right now, with the bangs. I will probably end up doing it and hating it but man she looks good. I'm getting a very Audrey Hepburn-feel from her this season between the clothes and the hair.

I loved Rory's hair for the 40's DAR function. Paris' on the other hand... yuk. Looked like somebody had thrown a wig on her head and got it pinned on just a little off-center. It was too floppy or something, like it wasn't very stable.
