So no one watchign this show anymore?
Since they moved it to Fridays I have been kind of stuck, since I have to watch Ed and Joan of Arcadia, and Handler and Jag, and well, I can't tape all of them and What I Like About You when I am out.
So based on the recaps I have been reading, Holly decided to just go and hook up with Vince?

I still watch it, but I have to say that I'm not enjoying it as much as I did last season. Too much Vince and Tina, not enough Gary. But at least they got rid of Simon Rex.
I'd kinda like to see a guest shot by Holly and Val's dad, played in the pilot by Peter Scolari. I always liked him.

I don't why but I really like this show. I confess that I proudly watch my fair share of shows that can be categorized as "guilty pleasures" but this is the only one that I won't admit to. Seriously, don't know what it is but I really find Amanda Bynes appealing. She cracks me up whereas that Hillary Duff chick bothers the hell out of me.

I am neither 14 or a girl and I really like this show...So what does that mean? I started tivoing it last summer when nothing else was on and thought it was pretty cute. AB has great comic timing and can really do the physical comedy well. It's written and produced by atleast one former Friends writer, and I think it has a lot in common with Friends. Too bad it's ratings aren't a little bit higher now that it's on Friday nights after Reba. It's definitely on the "bubble."

Why is it on at the same time as Married to the Kellys? I love this show, but I love Breckin Meyer more...so I guess the WILAY PTB are happy I'm not part of a Nielsen family. ;)

Okay, when did Gary started working out? That was, just, weird.
Either one of two explainations:
1. Gary had that body the whole time, and was just hiding it underneath some loose clothes. If that's really him, allow me to express the reactions of Holly, Tina and Chunky Gay Guy...
DAMN!2. Body double, placed over Gary's real figure (See: Reese, this week's
Passions). I'm more inclined to believe the latter, since even underneath baggy clothes, it would be pretty damn hard to hide a body like THAT.

No shit, that was weird.
A friend of mine came over shortly after WILAY started and remarked "Why do you watch this stupid show?" Then, mere minutes later, she was like "Ooh, that guy's yummy! Maybe I should watch this show..." I just had to laugh.
Me, I dig his 'fro.

I watch this show mainly for Jeannie Garth and the Lauren character but I think all the characters have good chemistry with each other, and the guy that plays Vince is cute. I thought Val had started dating her ex boss?

He's always had that body. I saw it on City Guys... um...not that I watched City Guys or anything. I"m just saying... my sister watched it.
And I was in the room.
Plus he was in the Alaye calendar a few years back. I don't at ALL find him attractive, but he does have a pretty wicked body.
I would also like to point out that I do NOT own the Alaye calendar. I saw it on Oprah.

Heh. Whatever you say mightymos, I won't tell. I remember him from City Guys as well, but also was surprised by his reveal on Friday. It cracked me up when they had the chunky gay guy saying "damn" as well. And I remarked that TV has come a ways if they now can show a group of white women pawing a black man. But I digress.
I still like this show. It and Reba make a good one-two, but I tire of the Holly-Vince-Henry deal. I just wish some of the plots latrely weren't about that, like some more Val-Holly stuff; Val's job, etc. I do like Lauren a lot though. Actually I dig all the characters except Tina, who doesn't do a whole lot for me.

I like this show, but I tire of Holly & Vince. Get them together and break them up, so Holly can move on.
That whole Holly getting mad at Gary's ex-girlfriend. Anyone else think it smacks of hypocrisy, given Holly's treatment of Henry? Just saying.
I like Amanda Bynes, but she often can get quite shrill. She (and Jason Lee) tends to exasperate her lines a lot. It doesn't sound right.

I missed several episodes, but I know there was mention of Holly possibly going to Columbia. The hell? The girl's not stupid, but she's not that smart, not from what I've seen.
And of course she wants Henry back now, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Holly blew her interview for Columbia by going to the amusement park with Vince, didn't she? I remember Tina getting her head stuck in a shark's mouth. (not a real one, but I can hope, right?)
I'm glad she's realizing what a great guy Henry is. Vince sucks ass.
I find it kind of distressing how much I dig this show. Although I'll watch just about anything that has not only Jennie Garth but also Leslie Grossman.

i used to watch this show last summer but I lost track of it and only saw it again last night. Considering the long stretch where I wasn't able to watch, I have a few questions. First off, is Holly's best friend just a filler now? He was barely in the episode last night, last summer he actually had story arcs on him. He has a major afro going on now. Secondly, did Holly and Jennie Garth's character (her name escapes me) change apartments? The apartment they're in now doesn't look familiar to me. Lastly, where's Simon Rex? What happened to him?
That's about it, the show was somewhat funny last night. I wanted to smack Holly when Henry was trying to tell her he had to leave, but she wouldn't stop for even a second to hear what he had to say. The girl who used to be on Popular cracks me up, is she a co-worker of Jenni or something?

Sadly, yes. He needs more to do.
Secondly, did Holly and Jennie Garth's character (her name escapes me) change apartments??
Yes.
Lastly, where's Simon Rex?
He left the show after his character broke up with Val.
The girl who used to be on Popular cracks me up, is she a co-worker of Jenni or something?
They started their own PR business together.

Just a quick pet peeve about Holly. She always wears those really super duper low cut pants/jeans, which are probably worn so you can show off ultra flat stomach, right? Then why in the hell does she constantly pull/tug/yank/stretch beyond it's limits every stinking shirt she wears with them to try and hide her skin??? Seriously, why wear the pants in first place then? God that annoys!

I know what you mean, faninohio. The thing that bothers me is the way they dress her so provocatively. She's 17/18 wearing mini skirts smaller than my headbands and 10 inch hooker boots! The worse part is that it's her "everyday ensemble." I could see wearing that kind of outfit to a party or a club but she wears these clothes to school!

Exactly, UniqBlue69! I kind of wonder if Amanda is not all that comfortable in those clothes either, hence the tugging of the shirts. She does the same thing with those teeny tiny shirts too, she pulls them down everytime she stands.

I missed a few months of the show, and have recently started watching again. So, my question is, where did Vince come from? He owns his own apartment and has a full time job, so how old is his character? It seems like he would be early twenties, making it hard to believe that he would hang out with this group of teenagers so often.
Wherever he came from, I'm not so dissapointed! He's purty to look at, even if his character is a bit "meh"...
memememe76
Jul 24, 2004 @ 12:16 pm
Vince worked at the firm that Val was working at before she started her own business (actually, what does she do--advertising?). And Holly and he would hang while Holly was working there at the summer.
Jennie and Leslie totally make the show--I like the teens well enough, but they don't compare. Jennie and Leslie are smart, funny, BEAUTIFUL, and seem to really like each other. The writers have also done a good job of slowly fleshing out Leslie's character--she's not such a ditz anymore.
But enough with the man troubles storylines. Holly and Val's most interesting romantic storylines were when they were *in* relationships.

I don't think he actually worked at that firm; he was just a courier that did jobs for them. He couried stuff for Val after she left the firm and I doubt they'd allow an employee to work with a rival, even one as small potatoes as Val's.
I think Val's in the PR business. That's why she was trying to get clients like Tina's mom (a writer).

wastingtime09- The WB is airing the season finale again tomorrow. The WB's website has a summary of the epi, as well.
The new season starts on the 17th. Judging from the previews, Amanda Bynes has lost some serious weight. Must the WB drive all of their starlets into double digit weights?

Just a stupid decision all-around. The Clay Aiken phenomenon should've clued those writers in--teens like their guys geeky-cute. And the guy who plays Henry is just an overall superior actor. And Henry worked well with Gary. Vince, meanwhile, is bland and boring.
Maybe the actor left to do other things?

Yes, meh. Just not very funny. I think I've lost interest in Holly. The writers really need to find a way to make the character more likeable. And I refuse to believe that Val doesn't use 3 forms of protection every time she has sex.
In regards to what you said, PittsburghDiva, I think we are supposed to assume that Holly is really over both of them.

Mmmm... chocolate-covered Jennie Garth.
Huh, wha--? Oh, sorry, I was in a verry happy place there for a sec.
And that's the sum total of my positive comments on the season premiere.
As for negative, I'll just restrict myself to bitching about writers hitting the reset button at the beginning of the season and completely avoiding or killing all of the plot threads from last season.
Amanda Bynes is now legal, right?
She turned 18 back in April. Hey, don't look at me like that. I actually had to look it up! Honest, I did!

I'm really hoping this season doesn't turn into another Holly and the guys who lust after her deal. The teen-angstapalooza last year grew tiresome. And - yes - I liked Henry infintely better than Vince (nice body though). But I was thinking last night that, you know, Holly is becoming more and more unlikeable with how she's treating her so-called friends.
I never cared too much for Tina, but Gary has gotten seriously shafted since the first season when it was just him and Holly.
Jennie Garth did look great last night, I thought.

I was happy with more Gary tonight. He's dance to the Gary Song made me laugh. He's actually the reason I started watching this show. I love the look on AB's face when she was doing the voice-over about the duckies moving. I couldn't stop laughing...however, unless Ben is VERY well endowed, she wouldn't know that b/c there was about a foot of space between the two. If the duckies were moving that much I want to date that boy (sorry).
I may be in the minority, but I do like Vince. It's the shallow in me. I think he's yummy. The addition of Leslie last season has really allowed this show to go in a more adult sit-com and I love that.
Unfortunately I need more funny stuff. Like the "laundry" talk, that was funny for me. The which guy should Holly choose dilemma is NOT funny. That just needed to be reiterated.
