So, this one got re-repeated last Wednesday night, and no one cared to comment? Or we're all commented out?

The CRACK WHORE'S trellium-D addiction makes this episode difficult to rewatch. The entire point of this ep was to show that T-D was toxic to Vulcans, right? So what does T'Pol do - inject it voluntarily, of course! I can't think of anything more logical.

Re-watching this episode made Dr. Mathra rant again about how it would have made much more sense if the CRACK WHORE was trying to innoculate herself against the TRE-D -- basically, for the good of the crew and the ship so they could reinforce the hull with it, although, the anomalies conveniently haven't proved as dangerous as they once were -- rather than having it be because she wanted to have moodswings.

If they wanted to say something about drug-abuse I prefer a completely idiotic, logic-defying explanation because how many addicts get hooked because of a well-informed, cautious choice anyway? What I violently dislike is that they used a Vulcan to say it.

Before Damage came out, I was hoping she was trying to innoculate herself, but oh well. Although, I do think that her addiction is more like an addiction to prescription pain killers than something like crack. She got a huge dose and became physically addicted to the stuff involuntarily. Sure, she had the choice to try to fight the addiction, but she rationalized that small amounts weren't going to hurt her and the Trellium helped her with her interactions with the crew. All part of the addiction.

The main way T'Pol differs from your garden-variety drug addict is that her first experience with the "drug" wasn't voluntary. That first contact with the stuff also altered her judgment--all of which makes her less culpable in her own addiction. It doesn't necessarily make the storyline any more palatable to the audience (though as I've said in other threads, I was only a bit bothered by it), but it does weaken the case of those who feel it has irretrievably ruined the character of T'Pol.
Unusual Suspect
Rewatching the episode made me suffer from a Trellium-D-esque reaction to the strobe lights. I don't know why it didn't bother me the first time, yet pissed me off to no end the second.
