So, is Sci-Fi done with TXF? I've noticed this week that the 5 pm broadcast has been replaced with Sliders and the 2 am with Quantum Leap. What gives?

Yeah. I noticed that too.
The 2am slot doesn't bother me, but I was just starting to make amends with S8 in the afternoons. It must all be a cruel cosmic joke.
ETA: I still can't believe that they replaced XF with Sliders.

Hmmm. I wondered what was up with them plugging XF into their weekly minithons. I think they have a long-ended syndi deal but maybe they've met a certain req for running each episode a certain number of times within the first leg of that contract? Sci-Fi seems to yank shows and then drop them back on the schedule at random so it will likely reappear just as quickly. If I recall correctly, FX also yanked it for a long stretch before it moved to Sci-Fi/TNT.
As for why Sliders -- maybe because it's a Universal property and now, so is Sci-Fi...

Sliders has actually been on Sci-Fi for a while- they usually showed it at 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. They're constantly shuffling their syndication sched with no rhyme or reason.
Don't get me started on that damn network. Bastards cancelled my Farscape.

Ok-time out. Where did my late-night, early morning, x-files eps on TNT go? Anyone have any idea what the new re-run schedule is these days?

TNT usually airs the episodes in mini-marathons on Tuesday night/Wednesday mornings and Wednesday night/Thursday mornings. The starting time varies from week to week, but most of the time they begin airing around 1 AM EST.

Yay, another X-Files insomniac!
TNT's online tv schedule has a Wednesday-Thursday 1 AM-6 AM ET block up. They're on season 2-3 right now.

I thought I saw a promo on Fox for reruns of XF in some primetime slot...they're calling it the X-Files re-opened or something like that. Wonder if Fox is gauging interest for the possibility of a second movie? Anyway, I don't have cable anymore, so I can't check the validity. It was actually my 5 year old that noticed...we were sitting in a doc's waiting room and he pointed to the tv and said "Mom, those are your X guys!"

I just saw TXF on Sci-Fi yesterday, they had just started season 8, they're showing Without this afternoon at 5/4 central, where I live anyway.

You poor deprived phile! At least you still get to see episodes though.

I wish some other channel would pick up TXF over here in the U.S. TNT is the only channel to show it consistantly, but they only choose to show it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from midnight to 4 in the morning, and they don't even really promote it like Law & Order or that piece of shit Charmed, they just treat it like a filler.
I remember I saw this awesome "trailor" for it on FOX one time where at the beginning it flashed back to the first meeting of Pilot M & S in the LBO and went on to show all the crazy shit that they were in for, and I think at the end Scully says "I'm actually looking forward to working with you". Been trying to find that trailor for a while, it's what first got me interested in TXF in the first place. So I wouldn't mind a little syndication promotion ala Canada OMNI.
In the end, I think I'm lucky to just be getting late night TNT reruns.

I think new TV season time is when I miss XF most of all - this article made me feel that even more acutely:
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/ne...-tv-cover_x.htmFall TV shapes up as frightfully good
By Robert Bianco, USA TODAY
Boo!
Don't panic. TV's fall season isn't really frightening. There may not be any instant breakouts like Desperate Housewives and Lost; those kind of surf-the-zeitgeist hits are rare. But the six broadcast networks have come up with a better-than-average slate, with a number of shows that may find their way into your viewing schedule.
Just don't be surprised if a lot of those shows try to scare you.
Sigh.

Sep 10, 2005 @ 10:06 am
I get that way too, especially after hearing about Lost, The Supernatural, and the new Night Stalker show. In magazine articles, someone's always comparing those shows to The X- Files, describing it as "XF meets Survivor", "XF meets sucky WB teen dramas", and the list goes on.
But part of me doesn't have a problem with the scary tv show trend, since I like all things creepy anyway. Just as long as the shows not crappy, I'm happy. Hey, I just made a rhyme!
Of course, keep in mind, most of, or practically all of those shows don't have the quality or staying power of TXF. Remember Freakylinks? Didn't think so.
I guess I'm going to have to go out and finally make myself buy the XF dvds. I keep putting it off, I say self, why buy it if it comes on in syndication almost every day? Wouldn't that be a waste of money? Well, I'm in desperate need of a XF fix, and Sci Fi at the moment is showing season 8, and TNT only shows their two night only marathons.

Speaking of XFy shows - I just started watched the pilot episode of THE 4400 on DVD and it's really XFish already with the government hallways and the pretty agents and the aliens (?). I've literally only seen 15 minutes and was curious what people think of it before I get too involved...

Not really, if you consider that you'll get the shows unedited, commercial free, and the later seasons in widescreen. Plus you can just pop in the good episodes if you feel like it, and can ignore the 'Spaces' for all time.

I've seen the first five or six eps (sucks to be so far behind all the time), and I think it's good, but a tad slow. I also haven't formed any kind of attachment to any of the characters, like I did with Mulder and Scully basically in the first few scenes they had together. It's the kind of show that I'll be happy to watch, but if I miss an ep I'll just shrug.

Ok, does anyone in the UK get the FX channel on cable/satellite? It's very nice of them to show an XF ep every day at 2pm, thats what really got me back into it. BUT they keep omitting to show certain episodes. It used to be one every once in a while that obviously had content that was too much to show at that time of day, like Home and Irresistible. They also edit some violent and gory content out of other episodes. I think I mentioned on the S5 thread how they edited out Scully weighing up the lungs and intestines in Bad Blood!
Thats all fine, but lately they have been leaving out tons of episodes out of season six and seven. I could understand them leaving out Terms of Endearment, but they also didn't show HTGSC, Tithonus, Milagro, and Field Trip! I could only guess that its because there is shooting and blood in those eps, but no more so than in plenty of other eps that they have shown.
And now, in season seven so far they have left out Hungry, Millenium, Rush, Orison, Signs and Wonders, Sein Und Zeit, Closure, and Theef. WTF??? What in the world is so bad about them that they can't show them at 2pm? Have they lost the tapes or something? Sorry to moan, its just really peeving because I was looking forward to re-watching S6 and S7 but they've left out loads of episodes. Can anyone explain why they are doing this, or are they just bastards?
KyinHi
May 8, 2006 @ 3:53 am
My best guess is that they have only paid for so many episodes. Some of the ones you mention I see no other reason for them to leave them out.
Cheap bastards is my guess. <g>

In Russia the show is repeated for the 6th time already. Now they show five episodes per week (it's a common practice in our country). 2pm and a 1am repeat of what was shown at 2pm. So that's a repeat of repeat. =)
Anyway, that is pretty cool, because I love this show.

I think I saw DD on a talk show once where he was talking about a friend or relative who lived in France for a while, and saw the XF dubbed there. Apparantly, sometimes when Mulder looked at a woman they would dub in a "Mmmm" sound to make out that he was attracted to her.
