You can all keep Bobby Jon. He's cute but somewhat dumb as a post. I dated someone once who was hot but dumb and it got boring real fast. Maybe a muzzle might work... :)

I don't really have any TV BF's right now. We are all in the "getting-to-know-each-other" phase. Quite a few possibilities though.
AussieGirl
Hi everyone. I've been keeping up with all the posts here, but not too much happening so haven't posted of late.

I'm enjoying Guatemala, brutal as it's been. I like most of the cast, just wish we'd had a 2 hour premiere so that we could have gotten to know them all better. I still can't remember who's on which tribe. No boyfriends for me in the cast, I'll just stick to my Peachy love, heh. I love his Aussie hat!

Also wanted to say hi to bucketyell, ChipBach and JerseyGirl. Nice to see some new posters here!
JerseyGirl291

Who is your peachy love?

And about my boyfriends, I just like having a TV boyfriend on every night of TV, and as it happens all three of my real ones are on Wednesday. So I picked BJ just for fun :)
TraceyBee
Who is your peachy love?

That would be Jeff Probst, aka "Just Peachy" or "Peachy" for short. Aussie's one of the many who claim him as her Survivor boyfriend.
netful

Hee. Good one, bucketyell. No need to be in any hurry. I'm still trying to decide if I like Brandon, and I'd hate to make a commitment only to find out he's so not worth it. I did love his "premature evacuation" line though.

Our County Fair starts this weekend. I'm so glad that it's in the Fall and not so horribly hot and bee infested. And how nice of the Buckeye's to take this weekend off so I don't have to miss a game. I tell ya, my mouth is watering just thinking about fair food.

But I like BJ

It's okay, JerseyGirl, I think that BJ would want us to play nice and share. :)

ZinZinnati OH

ChipBach, I don't suppose there's any way an old KY boy could be an OSU fan is there? :) I went to UC for a short time so I'm also a bit of Bearcats fan.

ETA: Heidi, you should see the size of my tomato plants. We had a bad storm several weeks ago that knocked them all over and forced me to prune more than I would like to have. But I had to save the fruit!! Anyway, they started kind of fading as they normally do in Sept., but the wild weather has them back to their full summer size already. To bad it won't last long enough for more fruit though. My lilac even bloomed again last week. Silly weather gremlins.
netful
Where have all the posters gone?
Long time passing.

Yeah, everything's a song lyric.

I'm going to the county fair tomorrow. I can't wait. I hear the food calling me now. The only bad thing is that it's supposed to be cool for the fair and this wacky weather had brought in some high temps. I always liked getting out my sweatshirts and sweaters and it seems that will be delayed. At least this time we're not having that horrid humidity!

How ya doing, Woodlock?

I've been thinking about Sierra a lot, too.
Flower Power
Hi this is my first time posting here. I would like to get in on the BJ love fest. I was thrilled when I found out that my TV boyfriend from last season would be back. He's the only one for me this season (well on Survivor anyway). I love that southern accent and he seems so sweet ;) I hate when people say he's dumb I think he's just too good looking for his own good.
bucketyell
Now see, I don't really get the Bobby Jon love. He is cute and all but I need something more up stairs. He is not dumb per se but not exactly a Rhodes Scholar. I gotta look to other shows this year for my TV boyfriends. I am just not getting the Survivor love this time around.

Hope the county fair was good netful - I haven't been to a fair since high school (and I am not gonna tell you how long ago that was). Oktoberfest just started this weekend in my neck of the woods. It looks like a lot of fun but of course, I forgot to buy tickets so I get to watch from afar. Sigh...

I might go for a long drive tomorrow just to see the fall colours. Man it's looking nice out there this time of the year!
AussieGirl
We've been battling bushfires and extreme temperatures here - almost made it to 40C and that's hot! The fires were very close to where I live and that was scary, but thankfully they seem to have it all under control now.

Hi Flower Power (love the name!) and welcome.
tseliot
Hi, everyone -- thought I'd come out of lurk mode to comment on this:

I went to UC for a short time so I'm also a bit of Bearcats fan.

netful -- why'd you leave UC? I only ask because I've just deposited my kid there (at the Conservatory) and am a typically anxious parent -- not least because he is way not the typical kid.

Didn't think anything much about Bobby Jon last season, except that he was dumb as the proverbial box of rocks -- but hated Stephenie last season and hate her this season.
Woodlock
Hi every one! This is were I try to think of an exscue for why I haven't been around, uh I'm gonna go with work :), actually we got some drama goin on, the other night auditor quit last night so there is only me, I start training another guy tomorow, but I am going out of town this weekend so I hope he is a quick learner haha.
Poor Aussie, you tell the fire that it is not welcome. ;)
netful
The fair was great, Bucketyell. Of course I ate too much, but isn't that the measure of fun at a fair or festival? The ensuing tummyache or heartburn. :O

tseliot, I left UC because I just wasn't into it. I didn't go until I was 24 and I could see that it was going to be a tremendous waste of money if I couldn't get serious. The college itself is awesome. I lived in the dorm directly across from the Conservatory. (Memorial Hall IIRC). My room faced the front and I loved the music coming across the road. I even saw Neil Armstrong several times. I don't know if he still teaches there or not.

The Conservatory has always had a good reputation. You can feel good about your son being there. It's also a beautiful campus. Especially in the fall.

BTW, is there such a thing as a typical kid? :-) I know what you mean though. That has to be the musician in him. I was in band in HS and we did tend to be a bit different from the rest of the kids. But in a good way, of course!

Have a good time this weekend, little elf. Give everyone a big hug for me.

I'm glad the fires missed you, Aussie. That had to be some scary sh*t.
tseliot
Thanks, netful. I do feel good about him being there, and I know HE felt good because the jazz faculty was so aggressive about courting him and offered him a hefty merit scholarship; my concerns are more based on the way he is and whether he will wake up and smell the coffee and do the work now that he's there -- and avoid the pitfalls (standard family warning, only partially tongue-in-cheek: no booze, no drugs, and no evangelists; he's oddly susceptible to all three, and the latter, which may well be the most dangerous, seemed overabundant there).

I had no idea that Neil Armstrong taught there! Certainly no one mentioned it to us; of course, he's never going to be in a situation where he might actually take a class such a person would teach.
netful
I had no idea that Neil Armstrong taught there!

Well, I hate to say it, but it was over 20 years ago when I went to UC. He was in the aeronautical engineering dept. then. He might also have been a guest prof. He could easily be retired now anyway.

Quick joke that you may, or may not, want to share with your son. Q: What's the only good thing about UC? A: It comes between F and K.
tseliot
Hee. But I'm sure by now he's heard it. And besides, since, like many kids, he has chosen to cut us out of his communication loop now that he's at college, I can't foresee an opportunity to share it!
mentalpretzel
Just wanted to pop in here since it looks fun.

I don't really have any TV BF's right now. We are all in the "getting-to-know-each-other" phase.

As for TV boyfriends... I'm torn. I'd love to say Bobby Jon, because he is so remarkably pretty, but there's also Brandon who I'm getting to like more and more. He flying under the radar and I appreciate the farmboyishness, and the fact that he's not like Jamie or Dudd.

Heh. TV boyfriends are more fun than real boyfriends-- I can break up with them by turning the channel, no fuss and broken dishes ;)
bucketyell
Yup, TV boyfriends are always in fine form and ALWAYS do what you want them to do.
legaleagle44
They don't cheat on you or stand you up, either! ;)
netful
And they always remember your birthday.

I hope you all don't mind if I switch gears for just a minute. I have to see a surgeon on Nov. 2nd about having my gall bladder removed. I had to have an ultrasound on my liver and they found polyps in my gall bladder instead. The good news is that my liver is fine, but because of something being wonky in my blood work there is still another problem somewhere in my body causing a high ALP count. The next step is a bone scan. So I would appreciate your prayers.

Of course, netful. So sorry to hear about your health issues. Best wishes for good news from the docs and a speedy recovery! :)
TraceyBee
Prayers and good thoughts going out to you, netful.
suctionprints
Any news, netful?
netful
Thanks for the prayers guys. The surgeon got called into emergency surgery so they had to reschedule my app't for next Tues. I don't see my Primary until later in the month, so I don't know anything about the blood tests either. Thanks for asking, suction. I'll let you know as soon as I know something.
suctionprints
Let us know how it goes, tuesday, ok nette? Wow. That's a long time to wait for blood tests - will he get back to you sooner if there's anything up? I know that when I had unusual test results (that prompted my surgery), the doctor wanted me in the very next day. Maybe going to the end of the month is good news of sorts.

Anyhoo. Happy health thoughts headed your way.
Woodlock
I hope you is all good Mama, :)
Oh y'all in like 4 days makes it my third year anniversiry with TWoP! I'm old now lol.
netful
Well, I saw the surgeon yesterday, and he wants a CAT scan before we proceed with anything. So tonight I get to drink a huge glass of some nasty stuff and then another one in the morning. I'm so psyched!! Not. Anyway, the scan is at 10am on Friday, so unless they find something really, really horrible, I probably won't find out until the first of the week. Oh, and the surgeon said that my liver was enlarged. Enough Already!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!
AussieGirl
Well this thread has sure died in recent weeks!

We're in the middle of a heatwave here, unbelievably hot. Mr Aussie Montana and I managed to escape sans children for a few days to the beach, lots of swimming, eating, shopping - nice!

Survivor Finale tomorrow night, can't wait! It's sure been an interesting season. And the icing on the cake was hearing that Peachy has signed up for at least 2 more seasons after S12 - yay!

Hope everyone is well.
netful
So is the MM now an official ghost town? I swear I saw some tumbleweeds roll by just now.

This thread used to really rock. What happened?

Oh well, Merry Christmas to all the ghosts.
TraceyBee
Popping in with some sad news, because many of you expressed concern earlier in the thread -

We said goodbye to Sierra, our beloved kitty, yesterday. She had been battling cancer for a long time - had a large tumor removed in June of 2004, when they told us she wouldn't last more than a couple of months. She made it 18 months, almost exactly. She had been fine for most of that time, but it was obvious during the past month that she was starting to be uncomfortable. Yesterday, when she wasn't interested in breakfast, and couldn't even keep down a couple of kibbles, we decided to release her. We were with her until the very end.

She was a beautiful, sweet, and loving kitty, and we miss her terribly.
Miss Alli
Condolences, TraceyBee. It sounds like you handled it just right. Your kitty was lucky to have you.
Kris223
Sorry to hear about Sierra TraceyBee. I'm glad you had the extra time with her that you did.
pretty in pinki
TraceyBee, I'm so sorry. It's always hard to lose a pet.
Merry Christmas everybody! Be safe.
netful
Oh, my sweet, sweet Tracy. There are no adequate words, because I know that your kitty was part of your family. Thank you for loving Sierra and giving her such a happy home.

Boodle and K.C. will get extra love today to share with your family and especially with Sierra.

God Bless.
Flower Power
Traceybee, I'm very sorry for your loss. It's sounds like your Sierra was very much loved. You did the right thing and she is in a better place now.

Merry Christmas to all.
AussieGirl
My condolences, Tracey. How very sad for you. I know from your previous posts about her how much you loved Sierra.

Merry Christmas to everyone, from Down Under.
suctionprints
Belated condolences, tracey. I still remember that day about 15 months ago when she decided I was her buddy, licked my hand, and crawled up into my lap. She was a sweetie.
TraceyBee
Thanks for your good wishes, everyone. And suctionprints, I remember that day, too! The two of you looked so cute together.
MissMo
Hi everyone. For a story I'm working on for the Chicago Tribune, I have a couple of questions, open to anyone who cares to reply:

Why do you still watch 'Survivor'? What about the show draws you in?

Feel free to reply on this message board, or you may email me with your thoughts at moryan@tribune.com.

Thanks in advance if you decide to participate.
golfnut
I am about to head to Australia (Sydney and environs) and New Zealand (Auckland and environs) for three weeks and was hoping that board members from both countries could tell me when (and if) episodes of the new season (Exile Island) will be broadcast there and on what network(s). Do the episodes air the same week that they are aired here, or is there a delay in broadcasting them? I doubt I will have time to watch the shows (cuz ya'll offer too many fun things to see and do), but I thought I'd ask anyway. I really appreciate the information and I am SO looking forward to visiting your countries!
TraceyBee
Lucky you, golfnut! I loved Syndey when I visited there (God, it's been 15 years; how did that happen?), and have always wanted to see New Zealand. Have fun!

AussieGirl posts on another board I belong to, I'll let her know there about your questions, in case she doesn't see your post here.
suctionprints
Hey, tracey! I recall aussie saying that Survivor hasn't aired there yet, and the fans are champing at the bit because it will still be a few weeks. It's being pre-empted for something that I can't remember because I am senile. Worst case scenario is that newspapers there will have a TV schedule section...

I lived in Aussie myself and traveled back thru New Zealand. Has it been 31 years? Yow.
AussieGirl
Tracey told me about your query, Golfnut. It's bad news, sorry. From the info we've been able to glean, Channel 9 in Australia have decided not to air Exile Island till after the Commonwealth Games, which ends on March 26th. There are concerns too that they could do a "Marquesas" on us, when they said yes, we will show it, but never did (as the OZ version of Survivor, which sucked, was showing). For Guatemala we got the show mere hours after it aired in the US, but that won't be the case now (sob). We've started a letter writing/phone call campaign to Channel Nein in the hope of putting pressure on them to show it soon. I don't know about NZ. But you'd be better off getting someone there to record it for you. I hope you have a great time over here - are you only going to the Sydney area? Enzed too is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, I loved it there.

Tracey, Suction, it's been too long - ain't it about time you guys came back to these shores?
golfnut
Thanks AussieGirl, Tracey, and suction! Now that my schedule is getting finalized, I realize that I would not have been able to watch anyway. I'm not sure that I'll have time to sleep!

AussieGirl, we are staying in the Sydney area only, unfortunately. I had hoped to travel to Cairns, etc., but we won't have time. While in Sydney, we are staying in Bondi Beach. (my husband has a week-long business meeting at a hotel there). We are doing day trips to the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and Jervis Beach, though! But the city of Sydney itself appears to offer so many beautiful sights to see and fun things to do. I hope I can fit them all in!

Edited cuz spelling and grammar are good things.
AussieGirl
I'm sure you'll have a great time, golfnut. Sydney's a cool place, and a very pretty city too. If you have any free time, take the Manly Ferry to Taronga Park Zoo, or head over to The Rocks. Darling Harbour is good too. It's been quite a few years since I was in Sydney, but I've always had a good time there.

And don't forget to get someone to tape the show for you! We are all suffering withdrawl symptoms here.
TraceyBee
Aussie, it's been far, far too long. I'd love to go to back to Australia and spend about a month. Then another month for New Zealand. Stupid poverty and having to work.
Woodlock
Hey everyone! Um yeah, I've been working two jobs cause I'm an idoit so I decided to screw work rules and post while working anyways lol, besides there is a very stupid person that works here that put a virus on the freakin server by lookin at porn at work. On the server. ...Yeah not bright he isn't and yet he is still here, so yeah Twop is better then Porn, that's my motto anyways so Hi!
netful
Hi there, elf dude. I'll never understand why people are stupid enough to look at porn at work. Don't they know that they are probably being watched!?

So do you just work and sleep? What are you doing with all you money? Saving up to buy someone a big Valentine? hee
Woodlock
Yeah pretty much, and sometimes it's just work no time to sleep, but I wanna get back in school so this will help me. And I wish I had me a bf or somethin to spend Valentines but Alas, the elf is still single lol.
Libellule84
AussieGirl, any particular tips on participating in the letter writing/phone call campaign to Ch9 ? I became mightily pissed off after getting my TWoP recap alert, and then visiting the 9 site, only to see no reference whatsoever to Survivor. Bitches.
AussieGirl
Libellule, hope this link works: My Webpage

I don't know why the link says "My Webpage" on it, that wasn't there when I copied it. That site has phone numbers and addresses to write to, to complain. Many of us have, but with no success. Their official word is that it will not start till after the Commonwealth Games end, ie March 26th.

If you can't get the link to work, email me and I'll send you the details that way. Good luck!

Edited to say the link does work, it takes you straight to Channel Nein's site. But I still don't know why it says My Webpage on it!
