Dodo can you either post again or email me info about your fringe show? I meant to check this out earlier and hope there is still time. Thanks.
samina
What is the plan for Thursday? Whatever it is, I am in!
This is great news, Ricci! How large is our NYC SMM crew, I wonder? Yogi, do you know? Am so looking forward to meeting everyone!

What color should I dye my hair next?
Woody, my youngest son loves to color his hair, with me as his amateur colorist. He once did blue, but my favorite one-tone color was red, which came out this incredibly rich & incandescent fuschia -- absolutely gorgeous. Have you done that one before? My all-time favorite effect, however, was *tiger stripes*. My god, these were gorgeous, especially as the hair started to grow in. We did it on a very, very short cut, which we lightened just a bit, after which I painted on the stripes. As the hair grew in, the darker natural shade underneath made it look like authentic cat hair -- fabulous!

Re a top-ten list, I've thought of this before but never ventured to list. Let's see...

LOTR, the entire trilogy, I think is the best film ever made, but I normally put it in its own category, because how can everything else compete with it???
The Shawshank Redemption is probably my favorite film. Even when I'm not in the mood to watch it, I can watch it, and am deeply moved & powerfully inspired.
Like Water for Chocolate is probably my favorite food porn film, and I love it for its magical quality, as well.
An Ideal Husband, for it's incredible wit, smarm, & costumery!
Amelie, which I never tire from watching because of its rich detail & precious storytelling.
Bridge Jones's Diary, a ridiculously feel-good film, with *both* Colin Firth & rascally Hugh Grant <yum>
The Thomas Crown Affair -- sexy, sexy, sexy.
About a Boy -- again, Hugh Grant makes an endearing cad!
To Kill a Mockingbird -- so fabulous.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory -- magical & nostalgic.
And, although I don't think that Notting Hill is a great movie, I often watch it just to see Rhys Ifans as Hugh's roomie -- one of the fall-down funniest characters in all of film!
The Last Dodo
Dodo can you either post again or email me info about your fringe show? I meant to check this out earlier and hope there is still time. Thanks.

You've got mail!
Woodlock
Congrads Dodo on the play!
My top ten is all over the place just so's you knows.
Clue

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Jurrasic Park
Hook
Beauty and the Beast
clueless
seven
Transformers the movie

ETA
It appears that I''ve been promoted to couch potato at some point, gee it only took me almost two years heh.

Ciao Ricci! Welcome home and Congratulations for the grant. What excellent news to return home to after such a wonderful holiday. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself, and I'm (selfishly) even more happy that you, along with Last Dodo will be joining us on Thursday nights. What fun!

The plan is very loose. Basically, Samina and I are in a grilling class (yum) until 8PM over at the Time Warner Building. So I suggest Molyvos for Greek food in honor of the Olympics and Samina's Greek heritage. (I am terrible at arranging these things, so rather than hate me for suggesting a place you find heinous, please suggest something else for discussion.) Otherwise, we will be at Molyvos at 8:30 PM on Thursday night. You can order dinner, but I love to eat the wonderful Greek hors d'ouvres with some tasty Greek wine. Or you can just drink yourself silly. Anyway. I'm very happy y'all, (Samina, Ricci, possibly Almond Eyes, Last Dodo, plus a lurker (who I hope will de-lurk soon) want to come.) I really look forward to meeting you all - It will be a great pleasure for me to see you in person!

Molyvos is conveniently located, just above the N,R,W station at 57th and 7th, or 1 block from the F-ing train of 57th and 6th, as well as easy to get to from all the trains that stop at Columbia Circle. The exact address is 871 7th Avenue b/w 56th and 55th on the east side of the street.

I love these movie lists!!! Rocky Horror is one of my favorite films too, woodlock. I used to go to the midnight show when I was in college. I know all the words - so much fun! And on the other end of the spectrum, I also like the film Notting Hill, mostly because of the soundtrack, which I listen to all the time - it's excellent. I enjoy your list, Last Dodo, because it's so much fun. Romy and Michelle - excellent! And Hildy, what could be better than the combination of Jane Austin and Colin Firth?

I hope skagirl's throat is feeling much better!
pretty in pinki
Oh, my goodness, I completely forgot to include my favorite musical, which would be Little Shop of Horrors. I love love LOVE Audrey II. I even have the soundtrack. Yes, I am pathetic.
Woodlock
Feed me Seymour! hee hee! That was the best ever.
Oh Yogi I have a vaction week in early december and I'm gonna go online to see prices but I'm thinking a litte trip to nyc is called for.
AlmondEyes
Hi guys! I'm sorry, but I'll have to bow out of meeting tomorrow night. Work has gotten incredibly busy, so between likely bringing work home tomorrow nite and packing - I'm meeting family in Florida Friday nite - tomorrow just won't work.
**sniff** Hope all of you have a good time, and if another SMM is ever rescheduled I'm there. I was really looking forward to meeting you guys and enjoying Greek food in the spirit of the games. Hmmph. Well, have a drink or three for me. I'll be thinking of you all.

Ricci, that's great news! Congrats on the grant. Dodo, hang in there. I'm sure there'll be a really bright light at the end of the tunnel for you.

I like loads of movies, but if I have to pick my faves, here they are:

Usual Suspects
The Fugitive
Gladiator
Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption
Dances With Wolves (took forever for me to agree to watch what I thought would be boring drivel, but it's so great. Especially Two Socks)
Memento
The Ring
Tipp
Hey, everyone! Exam results came out today - totally nerve wrecking. I hardly got any sleep. Anyway, I got what 425 points out of a possible 600, which is more than enough for the college course I wanted. It was just bizarre, though...my results were like, backwards. I got really poor results in my "best" subjects, and got A's and B's in the ones I was expecting to fail. Oh well, who cares. As for Chikochamp...well, if you had spent 6 years at school with her, you wouldn't even need to hear that she got what she wanted. 530, to be exact. Estimated percentile? 91.
samina
Molyvos sounds fab -- looking forward to meeting the crew! Drinking myself silly sounds like just the ticket! Retsina, anyone?

These movie lists are reminding me of some great movies I haven't seen in awhile--thanks all! Hook, for example -- used to watch that all the time with my kids. Still quote one line quite frequently: "Comfy?... Cozy?..." Woody, what's Meet the Feebles? I never heard of that! And haven't watched Clue in ages -- that was a good flick! Hildy, I'm also a *huge* fan of Sense & Sensibility -- I pop it in at least every 6 months. At *least*. And yogi, I felt the same about Alan Rickman in Truly, Madly, Deeply. Haven't seen it since it came out, though -- time for a fresh viewing.

Gawd, I love movies!

Congrats on the exam, Tipp. What's it for? I was watching out for that--maybe I missed your explanation.

ETA to say I just witnessed one of the most amazing sporting moments in history, with Paul Hamm coming back from 12th place in the gymnastics all-around after a horrible vault on the 3rd rotation to give two amazing performances & take the gold! His performance was truly god-like, absolutely heroic. Ohmigod. Brought tears. Whattaguy. Won by 12/1000 of a point! I love the Olympics (guess I'm just *full* of love all-around tonight! Heh!)
Woodlock
Woody, what's Meet the Feebles? I never heard of that!
Well Samina it is a severly fucked up movie but one everyone should see. It's directed by Peter Jackson, and it's like the muppets on acid. Look for it just don't let your kids see it.
samina
Woody, I skimmed a review of "Meet the Feebles" on imdb.com, and the film looks fascinating. I'll have to look for it.
yogi bear
Congratulations on the exam, Tipp! And congratulations to Chicochamp too - she's a smart one, but it sounds like you should both be proud of yourselves.

I am running like a crazy person today. Just a note to say I'll see some later, and I'm really looking forward to it. I only have to complete about 500 things between now and this evening - heh!

I've never seen the Feebles....
The Last Dodo
So I and the little brat--er, Dougintx--will both be making it to Molyvos tonight! I may be a little late as I have a client at 6, but I should hopefully be through well before then. Looking forward to meeting you all!
TraceyBee
Woodlock, here's the Spoonbridge and Cherry. It's in the Walter Art Center's Sculpture Garden.

ETA: It's not obvious in the picture, but water sprays out of the end of the cherry stem.
heidihug
Hope you all have a good time in NY at the Greekfoodcon, er, I mean, mini-SMMcon! Wish I could be there. Thanks for the pic of the spoon/cherry sculpture, Tracey. That will have to be one of our destinations when I am next in the TC. Back to work....*grumble* *grumble* *bleh*
iMissEthan
I won't be able to make it to Molyvos tonight (Nellie McKay at Joe's Pub in the Park), but have a great time & hope to see most of you at TARCon5.
skagirl77
Hi all, I'm finally starting to feel better. After a full 8 +++ hours yesterday here & a full day today, I'm definitely not going to have the energy to join in. But have some soulvaki for me! And some mousaka! And some saganaki!
Babalu
Blast it. I didn't even think about the Spoon and Cherry, and we were very close when we were at the Mary Tyler Moore house. You'll just have to come back, yogi and heidi.

Yay for Ricci and her grant. And skagirl feeling a bitsy bit better. And Hildy going to TARCon.

I don't know whether I can come up with 10 top movies, but here are some of my favorites:

Charade
All About Eve
Laura
Fargo
Diva
The Philadelphia Story
Fantasia

Mr. Lu is all done with his radiation. Keep your fingers crossed that he's now cancer-free.
pretty in pinki
My fingers are crossed!!
Hildy
Yaay for Mr. Lu! I'll have fingers and toes crossed for him!
skagirl77
Oh, what a great day, Ms. Lu! Will keep you both in my thoughts.
yogi bear
Love to you and Mr. Lu, Babalu! I am sending you my best wishes for a stellar cancer-free report. He is such a handsome, energetic, darling man, I can't imagine that he wouldn't beat this thing. Soon, you will both be creating beautiful (though smaller) gardens together in a Hawaiian paradise!

I am so tired....

It was wonderful to cook with the fabulous Samina and nosh with the friends, handsome and charming Last Dodo and DouginTexas. How did we find one another in a crowded bar? Well, I left my name with the hostess. But not my real name, because Last Dodo and DouginTexas didn't know my real name. So I had to tell her that if anyone came in looking for Yogi Bear, to please send them over to our table. In the true NYC fashion, she didn't even blink and just said OK. Heh.

What happenned to Ricci? I hope that you did not get lost in Jellystone Park.
suctionprints
Echoing the well-wishers and more, now that I've met the wonderful mr. lu! Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for all ya'll.

More later, it's been the week that never ends.
Dougintx
It was great meeting Yogi Bear and Samina last night. The Greek fod was wonderful and so was the company. It is interesting going up to the hostess and saying that I'm meeting people and I don't know their name or what they look like. Come to TarCon Samina!
yogi bear
I'm coming to TARcon! I just signed up. Dougintx brought back all the good memories for me last night. What a fun time.

Samina's wine label is very beautiful!
skagirl77
Yar, stupid unsexy strep. It misses all the fun! Well, I'll probably be at TARCon, too, and I owe Yogi grilled cheese (will email you), plus you guys will have to come to a fundraiser at a swanky lounge for my organization this fall - the fundraising is just a small cover, the rest is just a swanky loungin'...that's my kind of fundraiser. None of this hoity toity business. Which means my fall? Is going to be biiiizzzzzy!
TraceyBee
Babalu, we've got fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for Mr. Lu.

TC-con participants, I have a confession to make. The crack seed I fed you is the hard stuff. It's the saltiest and strongest-flavored of the various kinds, and it takes a while to build up to it. There are other varieties that you'd probably like. No, really! They're good! Sweet, instead of salt! Plum-y flavor!

You don't believe me, do you? *sigh*

Next TC-con, I'll supply cheesecake instead.
pretty in pinki
I just can't stop laughing about the 'hard crack,' Hehe. How's Seirra, TraceyBee? Hope she's doing alright.
samina
What a beautiful evening we had for our little SMM last night! We got to sit in the bar area, which opens right out onto the sidewalk, so the sounds of the city came in & mixed with the Greek music & our conversation, not unlike an evening in Athens! We nibbled on "mezethes" (appetizers) & drank Greek wine (yogi, great choice, by the way -- it was delicious!), and I got to meet Last Dodo & Dougintx, two very charming young men! Yogi Bear is truly a bundle of energy & charm!

Thanks, yogi bear, for turning me on to those cooking classes! I'm definitely going back, especially to see Jamie Oliver in September. I wonder if they have plans for Nigella Lawson to teach. I'll have to ask. Those two are definitely my style in the kitchen.

I don't know about TARcon--I'm a bit of a Survivor specialist. But it does sound like fun!
heidihug
Uh-huh, Tracey. So you start us on the hard stuff, then try to tell us there is good-tasting crack? Hmmph. I vote for the cheesecake : ). Or, to make it easier on you, how about we just stick to rainbow cookies and kuchen?

Yes, samina, isn't yogi just lovely? I am so jealous of your cooking/Greek night out. And I am fanning myself thinking about a night of cooking with Jamie O. Heaven!
Woodlock
Yay Baba and Mr Lu., I am so happy for the both of you.
I'm glad the greek food con went well last night, sounds so fun :)
TraceyBee
Between watching the Olympics in Athens and hearing about the NY food-con, I'm all hungry for spanakopita.

You know, Heidi, even since we had that lovely kuchen you made, I've been thinking about making one myself, maybe with a poppy-seed filling. Mmmmm, kuchen. For now, though, I need to use the bananas that are getting brown and soft on my counter and make some banana bread. With chocolate chunks, of course.

PiP, Sierra is hanging in there, thanks for asking. She's had a couple of coughing incidents during the past month, so we know the cancer is growing in her lungs, but she still has an appetite (boy, howdy, does she ever), and is still playful and interested in the world. We're treasuring every minute of the time we have left with her. She was delighted to meet the TC-con people.
yogi bear
We love Sierra too!

However, crack, I do not love. I can't believe that you are offering us that nasty crack again, Tracey Bee. Don't you know that friends don't let friends take crack? Oh my heck. Go with the poppy seed kuchen.

Kuchen, I love.

Greek food is tasty as can be. Our next culinary journey should include Greek food and a visit to the Oldenburg cherry and spoon sculpture. Ironically, it fits right in with our the food theme that haunts both this thread and the Meet Market. Heh.

I hope you are feeling well, skagirl. Are you headed out of the city soon?

You were the subject of much warm conversation, Woodlock. It would be lovely if you could come to NYC, but I think that on nights you want to stay out past 9 or 10 PM, you have to stay with Last Dodo or Dougintx. Otherwise, I will be a bald woman who rips out all her hair with worry. I can't help it. I just would. But I will take you out for fabulous meals and activities during the day light and early evening hours! I can't wait to meet my favorite elf!
pretty in pinki
Aww, I'm glad Seirra's doing okay. Speaking of furry animals, I've been nephew sitting for my sister since Tuesday. The nephews are two guinea pigs, one black and white and the other multi-colored with the "crazy hair." They are sooo cute!
TraceyBee
Aw, I had a guinea pig when I was a kid. He was black, white, and brown with the crazy hair. He was adorable! Guinea pigs are loaded with personality.
skagirl77
Yup, I'm outtie tomorrow at 12 noon, so I'll be MIA for a bit. Yesterday I felt a LOT better & today I'm back to my old eeeevvvviiiilllllll self, albeit very sweaty because it is GROSS out. Have fun if I don't have time to check in & be very, very, very good. Except for Doug & Dodo. They should be wild & crazy while I'm gone. Oh hell, everyone be wild & crazy!
yogi bear
If one can be wild and crazy in a French restaurant, skagirl, than I'm your girl! I promise to do my best, such as it is.... You have a wonderful time on your holiday, but do check in on us when you can, because it's so fun to hear what crazy things you are up to. I hope Florida has a cold streak just for you.

I just read that Katharine Hephburn always traveled from her brownstone in Manhattan to her home on Long Island Sound with a white bucket filled with water and a pair of shears because she liked to hop out if she saw some promising flowers to cut by the side of the highway. Heh. What an image. I wonder if anyone ever veered off the road to see her clipping some Queen Anne's Lace? She also loved white slipcovers. Wasn't she something wonderful?
Woodlock
Yogi I was just lookin through orbitz and it seems the middle of the road flights for my wallet land in Newark which I do belive semi close, the cheapes flight I found had me hoppin flights all day and end up in westchester county or something like that, but I'm not for sure where that is.
Tracey I don't know why as I'm extremely picky when it comes to food but I wanna try some of the crack, i guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
Babalu
I forgot to chime in on the crack experience. It's truly as horrendous as yogi and heidi report. And TraceyBee, I tried some of the sweet li hung mui crack seed, and while not as utterly revolting as the salty variety, it's still not something I'd voluntarily put in my mouth again.

Thanks for the good thoughts for Mr. Lu, everyone. He's mowing the lawn right now, so he's feeling much better than he was just a few days ago.

I wish, I wish, I wish I were going to have as much fun this weekend as I did last weekend with my in-town and out-of-town chums!

Have a good time with ma-ska, skachickie!
Hildy
Woodlock, I believe you should aim for LaGuardia or Newark. Westchester is no good.
Woodlock
Didn't think so Hildy but I wanted to make sure.
AussieGirl
Sending hugs and good thoughts for Mr Lu your way, Babalu. That's wonderful news!

It sounds like you guys had a great time, Yogi, Samina, Dodo and Doug. And I'm not a bit jealous, no. Had to laugh at you giving the waitress the name of Yogi Bear for them to find you!

Tracey Bee, like Woody, I think I'd be willing to try that crack. Some things are an acquired taste, like Vegemite, hee.

Ska, sure hope you're feeling better, mate.

We had our youngest child's 4th birthday party yesterday. It was great, everything went off well, though I am still feeling a little tired from all the preparations that went into it all. But seeing his little face light up was worth it all.
yogi bear
Hey Aussie Girl! I'm so glad that Littlest Aussie's birthday party was a rousing success. At his age, those things really are so meaningful. Your post brought to mind my own Dear One's face at that age. I believe there were birthdays that he radiated pure joy. It made all the work doing ridiculous things like making specialty cakes and decorating with Thomas the Tank Engine or Harry Potter posters worth it all.

I went to see Before Sunset last night. It was such a marvelous film! I enjoyed it on so many levels. In some ways, it reminded me of My Dinner with Andre (a film that would have been on my top 10 list at another time in my life,) because basically this film involved two people talking throughout. It had a fascinating realistic quality because of the real time element, including the strange tangents that people go on during natural conversation. I need to see it again.

On a personal level, it is filmed in a part of Paris where I have spent so very many hours, days, months of my life. They walked past restaurants and stores that sparked hours of memories. In fact, the film started in Shakespeare and Co. bookstore where something strange and sort of surreal happened to me many years ago. I was in Paris on my honeymoon with my first husband. (Yes, I even went to bookstores during my honeymoon. I would probably go to a bookstore on my deathbed. There is no bad occasion to buy a book.) Anyway, the owner of Shakespeare and Co, a very strange, very little, very short, bald man, came over to my new husband and me as we were talking to one of the store clerks and motioned to me. I went with him to the cash register where he took out a bunch of money. Then he motioned me to go upstairs where there are these sort of bizarre living quarters, so my husband, the clerk, the owner and I all trooped upstairs. Then the owner offered me the money he had taken out of the cash drawer, which agitated and embarrassed the clerk a great deal. It appears the owner wanted to have sex with me for money. I still look back at this with complete incredulity because my lord, how bizarre on so many levels - I’m (and was) hardly a hot tamale, let me tell you. I was a high school English teacher, for heaven’s sake! At the time, I was so dense; I didn’t even understand what was going on, because who would be able to figure this weirdness out? The clerk illuminated me before he shuttled our little group and the money away muttering about how the owner was drunk. Very, very drunk. I would have been insulted, but I figure he was too drunk to even see properly, and the absurdity of the whole thing just made it so ridiculous, that I merely made my purchase (yes, I still bought the book; my priorities are in order) and left the store. Just one of the strange incidents that make up my very strange little life – heh.
suctionprints
Tracey Bee, like Woody, I think I'd be willing to try that crack. Some things are an acquired taste, like Vegemite, hee.
Well, aussie, I was the kid who had to be pried away from my Korean classmate's toasted nori and dried baby squid in third grade show and tell. And who adored Vegemite from the first time she tried it. And I have to say, yes, crack is an acquired taste. Unfortunately, I don't think I have enough years left in my life to acquire it. That just means more for tracey!!!!

Sierra is such a sweetie kitty - she actually crawled on my lap and tried to groom me. Since I'd never had that happen before (I always seem to be around a ton of shy and/or psycho cats), I asked my pet expert friend what that meant. She said that it meant we were buddies! How cool is that!?!?!?!

Hey, yogi, E! networks is looking for a regular viewer to have a "True Hollywood Story" filmed about them. I think I'm gonna nominate you!

The NYC MM con sounded wonderful! And mmmm, I love Greek food! Visiting the spoonbridge and checking out one of the good Greek places in town (I'm partial to Gardens of Salonica myself) sounds like a wonderful TCcon idea. And the garden at the Walker has many other lovely sculptures to check out.

For now, though, I need to use the bananas that are getting brown and soft on my counter and make some banana bread. With chocolate chunks, of course.
Email me when you make it - I'll be on the first bus down! ;)

aussie, I think age four is about the time you can actually begin to appreciate a birthday party. How cool that it went off so well!

I'm not the hardcore movie person some of you are, but here are some movies I love:
Goodfellas
Local Hero
That Sinking Feeling
The Miracle at Morgan's Creek
Wayne's World
A Christmas Story
The Empire Strikes Back
Ran
Zero Effect
The Sexy Aragorn, er, Lord of the Rings trilogy
Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery
Bridgette Jones' Diary
The Tall Guy
At Close Range
This is Spinal Tap
Best in Show

That's a couple...

I'll be posting a link to some happy TC Con photos sometime today...

And yay, to mr. lu feeling better!
Babalu
Hey, AussieGirl - nice to see you and good job on littlest Aussie's birthday party.

yogi, jeepers, what a story. You do have some of the most interesting tales to tell.

I forgot to ask you, samina, if yogi told you we drove past figlio's, and I pointed it out as the place you used to work. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you waited on my first husband and me - especially if you worked in the bar because we mostly went there, rather than the restaurant, for happy-hour calamari.

suctionprints - I found those Janet Evanovitch books, so give me a call sometime and we can meet for lunch!
samina
I wouldn't be surprised if you waited on my first husband and me - especially if you worked in the bar because we mostly went there, rather than the restaurant, for happy-hour calamari.
Probably, Babalu -- wouldn't that be something! Small world. I had forgotten about happy-hour calamari. Very popular! And yes, yogi did indeed mentioned your having gone by Filgio! I loved working out on the sidewalk during hot summer nights. It was such a hot spot, then, and so cosmopolitan for some reason. Italians, Brazilians, the French, even (can you imagine) New Yorkers! What it didn't have in swank it made up for in hormones, some nights -- it got very colorful! Good memories. But not as colorful a memory as yogi's recent story! Yogi, dear, that simply must be captured in an article of some kind! Do you write?!

Suctionprints, I have a lot of good Walker Art Center memories, too. And I still regularly cook two items from their cookbook: the best ever Scotch Shortbread and Pumpkin Lentil Soup! Do they still have that great cafeteria?

TraceyBee, this whole thread on your crack seed is very titillating! I for one would count myself in for a hearty try at it! I do like to exploring exotic tastes! Where can I get some, I wonder? At what sort of store would one purchase it?

Hi AussieGirl! <waving> Kiddie parties are always so intense to host, but I loved having them! Now, however, my kids favor money rather than parties. <g>
AussieGirl
Yogi what a great story! Hee! Before Sunset is out here now, and it's getting some rave reviews, so I think I'd like to see it. I didn't see Before Sunrise - would I need to see the first one for it to make sense?

suction you would be one of very few people outside Australia who actually like Vegemite. Most Americans I have met taste a little of it and run screaming away. But the problem is that they try from a spoon or something, rather than put a little on some buttered bread - yummy! Did I ever tell you guys the story of how my glass jar of Vegemite broke in my luggage when I arrived in Dallas? Oh boy, even as much as I love it, Vegemite smelling clothes is not something I want to have again!

Yeah, little Aussie sure had a good time at his party - it was hard for him because his big brother's birthday was just a few days before, and he couldn't understand that Big Little Aussie had to have his party first. But his turn finally came and the look on his face was priceless! Totally worth all the effort.

Speaking of Big Little Aussie, while doing his Year 7 tests (something that all schools do in the State), he just couldn't comprehend and work out what he needed to write, and consequently had a bad panic attack. The school called me, and I think they were quite flustered, they'd never seen him so bad - but they were pretty good, got him calmed down, and arranged for him to complete it over the next 2 days. This afternoon I have to meet with the school to go over his IEP and organise details of his school camp in September. And tomorrow I'm meeting with the School Guidance Counsellor at the high school, to facilitate teacher's aide time, and as easy a transition to high school as possible.
yogi bear
yogi, jeepers, what a story. You do have some of the most interesting tales to tell.

Sadly, I've got a million of them. What does it say about me that I am always having bizarre adventures? I don't know, and I'm not sure I want to know. Consider that a rhetorical question, y'all. Heh.

You always have the best ideas for food related activities, suctionprints. I'm all over this Greek food thing. Like lemon on saganaki, I'm all over it! We will need that sculpture garden to walk the whole thing off. Lucky you and Babalu, lunch and Janet Evanovich - now that's a winning combination.

I like Vegemite. Vegemite is Beluga caviar compared to crack. Y'all have no idea how bad something can taste until you have tasted crack. Seriously. (Sorry Tracey Bee. I really like you a lot, but your plum crack, not so much. I'm sure you make a delicious cheesecake, however.)

Of course the very discriminating Sierra loves you suctionprints - you are fabulous.

Poor Big Little Aussie. What a bad day he had. I hope his tests go better tomorrow (Or is it today? Can't figure out that Aussie time.) And best wishes to you, Aussie Girl, for the best possible results from your IEP meeting tomorrow/today.

Now I want Walker Art Center Shortbread with cherries on a spoon..... sigh.

Ughh, Vegemite. Our neighbors went to Australia to visit thier daughter and brought us back some as a "gift." Sadly, it ended up in the garbage as none of us could stand it. I was about 7 or 8 then and haven't tried it since. I would try crack, but jeez, with the raving reviews you all gave....
Well, I got some bad news yesterday. One of my aunts had a massive heart attack and was rushed to the ER early on Saturday. They found out she had a hole in her heart about the size of a silver dollar. The doctors were amazed that she even made it to the hospital. They said most people die in within 10 minutes of it. She's doing better today, still unconscience, but they say she is doing very well, consitering. Her son, who is metally retarted and lives with her had to go stay with his brother. I feel so bad for all of them. Thier dad passed away last November from heart failure after six strokes, diabetes, and a couple heart attacks. It is so sad seeing what they have to cope with.
On a more cheerful note.... I tried sushi today for the first time. I went with my sister and her (eww) boyfriend as a thank you for watching the nephews. I was so grossed out. I guess it's a aquired taste, but oh, I just don't see how anyone can enjoy eating raw fish. But I was a good sport and tried it. And that's probably the last time I will. Sadly, there aren't really any Japanese restraunts withinn oh, a 43 mile radius. I consiter it a good thing.
Happy birthday to Little Aussie! By the way, today (Sunday) is my sister's birthday also.
