Just finally saw all of TAR 1 and I have to agree with others that have posted that Margarita is one of the greatest racers. (especially out of the females) She pushed hard, preserved and didn't back down from the many challenges during the race. She and Frank made a good team I think because they were constantly thinking about staying ahead of the competition. They complemented each other well because they are strong-willed which resulted in a solid second place finish.

Plus, if you do the math, you'll find out that Frank & Margarita have the best finishing average in the history of the show. Not that I've done that... no, never. Ok, so I did. I was just curious and not hurting anybody! (I'm thinking I need to bring this to the "You know you're watching too much TAR when..." thread. Or seek professional help.)
ANYWAY. To make a short story long, Frank and Margarita kick serious ass.

They were my favorite TAR1 team. Kevin and Drew brought the funny, but I loved Margarita, and Frank was just this side of crazy, which I liked because he was entertaining and yet it was clear he'd never do any serious harm (beyond making you want to shoot him up with industrial-strength Valium). I admired their energy, too.

I like Frank also. Especially because he seems to be the one racer I always talk to at TARCON.

They weren't my favorite team, but they certainly were awesome.
It's funny, because last year when I watched TAR1, in the first episode I thought I was gonna haaaaate him. All the screaming, shoving....I was thinking "Wow, and people give Ian a hard time?". The second episode he was still being pretty mean (the "punch you on top of the head" thing), but by the 3rd episode he was showing signs of coolness, and by the 4th I really liked him, which just increased as the show went on. And Margarita was cool right from the beginning.
I wish I'd gotten to meet them at TARcon but they left before I got the chance (and before I got over being too nervous to talk to anyone, haha). I will at the next TARcon though!

A friend of mine saw Frank and Margarita last night and said that Margarita is very pregnant! And, of course, one of those truly beautiful pregnant women.
They know the sex of the baby, but it's a surprise for everyone else. So.....Congratulations Frank and Margarita!!!!

Oh, that's awesome. They were very cool at TARCON. I wish them the best (and she is no doubt one of those gorgeous pregnant ladies...I wish I could look half as good non-pregnant).
Congrats!

That's FANTASTIC. Congratulations!!
We met them at TARCon, and it turns out that Margarita and my friend Denise knew each other from a previous life (no, not reincarnation - the life before TAR...). Imagine how cool it was for my friend to have a TARCon racer come up to her to say "don't I know you?" It was way cool and the highlight of our night.
They're definitely one of my favorite teams.

I am just watching TAR1 for the first time & Margarita is AWESOME!! Totally feeling the love there BUT Frank not so much. I am thinking he must redeem himself in the future because no one else seems to feel the Meh! I am just not wild about the way he has been speaking to Margarita especially the first few episodes.

Aw, I'm watching it for the first time too and I adore Frank. Margarita rocks, but he's just so cute and enthusiastic! But I might feel that way because I had to start with the second disc of the set, so I never witnessed the birth of Loud Pushy Frank. As it is, I love them both.

Yeah, he's an asshole the first few episodes, Lucygirl2. And will be again towards the end. But in the middle he's pretty cool.

If you read the "extra" interview with the Guidos they refer to a moment on the boat to Tunisia when the producers ask them about being the "bad boys". They mention this to Frank, who says "Oh yeah? Well apparently I'm the bully." It seems to me, that after this point he deliberatly changes his behavior so as to Not be "the bully". He seems to be one of the few to sucessfully manage how he is portrayed.

"You" Don't
manage your portrayal, trust me. They wanted to turn Frank somewhat since he was going to be the first runner-up. We took the bully and the villainy trophy, lock stock and barrel. It wasn't necessary to have another bad guy! Frank was loud and pushy the whole time! I like him, he was just very loud.

Thanks for that insight...it cracks me up. I never got on the Frank love train, even during his "redemptive" phase. Margarita was a stud of a woman racer, especially since it was before the Bowling Mom rule. As we saw in future seasons (especially 5) the women deferred to the male team member too much.

Well hey, Guidos, thanks for joining in! I just think it makes for an interesting story. On screen Margarita says something to the effect that they have talked about the relationship and are getting along better (must have been a loooong boat ride). It did seem to me that he hassles her a lot less for a few episodes and that maybe TPTB made a mistake in telling him how he was being protrayed. (no idea how he treated everyone else). But yes, I understand your point about them wanting him to seem more sympathetic as a runner up.
You guys were great, of course. A wee bit too sure of yourselves, but so nice to each other.
Graytex I don't remember where I read this, but one of the Bowling moms talked about how the guys took over the roadblocks in TAR5 after the women had such a hard time with the caviar. Basically it got turned into " we almost lost 'cause she did one, so that's not happening again".
And yes, Margarita rocks! She ate chicken feet & larvae, no problem. Compared to her, many of the coupled women on this show have been disapointing.

But . . . where did the Danza nickname Miss Alli gave them come from? I looked in the recap and couldn't find the explanation anywhere!

In the first episode, Frank was all, "Pop quiz: who's the boss?" And that was enough to earn the nickname Danza, as well as "Loud Pushy Frank." Good times. And nice that the Race brought a couple back together.

Does anyone think that the fast forward they won was ridiculously easy? Row around a castle looking for a clue in the wall? Whatever. Although: I suppose they could have gotten lost on their way to Ferrara.
Btw, LOVED Marge--she is so classy and smart. Frank is certainly an impressive competitor, but such a jerk at times. Plus I don't like his constant dissing of Team Esquire. He's so paranoid and delusional (ex: Esquire is in it for themselves. THis after Esquire gives them info, clues, etc.) Oh, well, the best team won anyway.

I'd probably say it was the hardest FF we saw on TAR1, apart from the climb that Rob/Brennan bragged about no-one else being able to do. Especially compared to eating a meat pie or asking for coffee.

The champagne waltz thing at the castle in TAR 4 looked hard too. Margarita is till one of my all time fave females ever to run the race. With that being said, I too agree that the best team won TAR classic though.
