ETA: Jumping into the NL debate from a while back: Yeah, she's sucky, but if I got to make decisions for a day (and what a day it would be), she wouldn't be the first one fired. She's awful, but I always get the impression that, in her limited way, she's trying to act, unlike certain other members of the cast cough*StevieB and LessisMo*cough who phone it in when, according to some people at least, they actually can act. Not only that, they openly brag about it. Whereas people like LC might mock in retrospect dumbass lines they had to say ("I wonder what Luke and Laura are doing on that island?" and "Carbonic snow!"), I bet she actually played it.

She gave it her all, bless her heart. Still sounded incredibly idiotic. But she tried. And ITA, NL is trying, too, which is kind of sad. Yes, NL is trying. She's gotten rid of a lot of the problems she used to have, as I mentioned upthread and can't be bothered repeating. I just wish she wasn't playing Emily. Anyone but Emily. She frankly doesn't get the spunky, vivacious, vulnerable and intelligent character AT helped create and I wish above all else that TIIC would just invent some reason to explain that NL was actually playing someone else entirely.

That scene with Nik on Friday, for example, was just awful. He's telling her about the fight with Zander, and she's looking at him like he forgot to take out the trash. Even the writing was pointing to a bigger reaction, and she delivered nada. (When she asked why he didn't tell her about the fight, Nik's like, "Because I didn't want to see you look at me that way you are now." Yet, no real reaction from NL other than mild annoyance.) Plus, she sucks all the life out of TC. I buy that they're comfortable with each other, that they're lifelong friends, but I see zippo romantic chemistry.

MB and SB suck for the most part, but I have seen them both act, mostly before they became the puppetmasters they are today. And I still think both rate far and above NL at the moment, although with a few more years, exposure to the vets, more of a supporting role and lots more coaching, I think she'd improve.

So yeah, unless they were willing to make her someone else, I'd get rid of her, or at least find some excuse to have Umily move back to California.

Another triangle becomes a quad when Lucas is SORASed and falls for Sage, who loves Dillon, who loves Georgie.

bluedevilblue I like the idea, Since Lucas is already SORASed and hiding in a closet somewhere, I think the storyline could dictate this.
I know that everyone hated Lucas when he was on the show, but I think I bigger problem than the actors that played him was the conceit of the character. They placed him in a love triangle with his cousins. I know that TPTB thought since genetically Lucas wasn't related it would work, but they forgot the collective intelligence of the viewing audience knew better and were properlly grossed out by such pairings.
I think that if the character was brought back and was reworked into someone that thought of Maxie and Georgie as cousins and vise versa, he could be a plausible love interest for Sage.
Recasts have been problematic, but sometimes they have been wonderful. I mean Chad Brannon was a recast and can a single person on this board think anyone but Chad to play Zander.
The more I think about the character, the more I think he could work know. He could be brought back from where ever he was sent from by request of Bobbi to 'help out' when Carly and her boys temporially moves in with Bobbi (and Bobbi could be given some type of story), so Carly to put distance between herself and Lorenzo, because as lovable as he is, still a criminal and it could be used against Carly in custody hearings.
Of course, Carly and Lorenzo would still be seeing each other, which would force Lucas, who is playing big brother/uncle to his nephews, to cross paths with Sage.
It could an interesting flip since Georgie was in love with Lucas while Dillon was in love with her and now Sage is in love with Dillon while Lucas developes feelings for her.
I can totally see these two bonding because both know what it is like to lose parents and feel a bit of an outsider in their own families.

Question: What happened to Sage's mom? I'm sure Sage mentioned it at some point but I wasn't paying attention. I'm guessing that she's dead, but I don't remember.

I think that the show should make Lorenzo Sage's father. Have it turn out that Lorenzo and Sage's mom had a brief affair long ago, and she convinced him that Luis was actually Sage's father, but all along Sage was really his. Maybe one them could get sick, and they find out that they share some kind of biological connection that neither of Sage's parents had. Then Lorenzo begins to question whether he could be Sage's father again, and finds out that Sage actually is his daughter. It could be interesting, then again I could be drunk.

Halcyone , this is so funny. And man, nice husband, subjecting himself to that crap for you. One question. Why do you hate Mr. Hal? Hee. ChefHopper insists that I must secretly hate him everytime I subject him to TFGH. ::snip:: Although the funniest thing this week was him recoiling in horror, screaming "AHHHHHH! MAKE IT STOP" at the Pirate's in Em's Pants.

Hee! Yep, Mr. Hal blames me for the fact that he even knows who these people are. He got acquainted with Carly, Sonny, Jason, and the rest a few years back at the beginning of S&C. (As you may have guessed, he likes Carly and detests Sonny and Jason.) At first, I was intrigued by the possibilities of the S/C pairing, but I got over that pretty quickly. Then I just hung on as long as I could, hoping that Carly would leave Sonny's abusive ass. Every time I tune back in, he groans, because he knows he's going to get sucked in again. He's never forgiven me for getting him hooked on DOOL back in the early/mid-90s. I feel kind of guilty because I enjoy his tortured, disbelieving reactions so much. Last week, I was bitching about how TPTB let Sonny get away with such atrocious shit, and he totally nailed their hard-on for the character. He put on this awful, old lady-ish voice (even though he was supposed to be a man--Frons or Guza or Pratt) and said, "Oh, he's a little weasel, but we love him, don't we, ladies? He cooks, he's got his own bidniz, what more could ya want? If I had a vagina, I'd be all over him!" I. Was. Rolling. I couldn't breathe, I was laughing so hard. He and ChefHopper should form a support group: SASOFTWTS (Spouses And Significant Others Forced To Watch This Shit). The snark would be award-winning, I've no doubt.

chezhdchick and starry, I bow to you. May your dressing rooms here on the Barge always have water at precisely the correct temperature and M&Ms in only the colors you prefer.

Also, I was used to seeing Liz as one of the teens/young adults, and now she's married, so it's sort of like she's a different character now. I don't really think I like her, but then again it's hard to be sure since I hardly ever see her. I did feel bad for her during the whole Panic Room thing, and even before that, since I was unfortunate enough to tune in on the day that Faith pushed her down those stairs.

Re Georgie/Dillon/Sage, they're all morons. Dillon's screwing sage out of spite is tacky. Using one girl to get over another is wrong, especially if sex is involved. Sage's letting herslf be used is just as heinous, especially when she knows that Dillon doesn't love her. Sage just doesn't have the guts to admit it to herself or to stop herself. She'll deserve the broken heart she'll inevitably get, IMO. Now, Georgie's pissing me off, too. Granted, she's been hurt, but I wish she'd get over it already! This "Tommy Glass" scam not only punishes her, it's pushing Dillon/Sage together, which is the last thing Georgie really wants, if she were honest with herself. As far as I'm concerned, this all boils down to one thing-pride. Sage needs to get it; Georgie needs to lose it.

Pacing on the soaps can be very strange.

I remember once on "Somerset", Chuck Hillman whacked his wife, India, on the head with a candlestick and shoved her behind the sofa. She lay behind the sofa for over a week on camera, though evidently less than a day - possibly less than one hectic night - in terms of the timeframe of the soap. I felt sorry for the actress, Marie Wallace, who was a funny, sharp actress and a great beauty, having to lie behind the sofa for so long. Then the truly funny part came when, after all that time, it turned out he hadn't killed her - she survived, and denounced him, which meant that all the work he went through trying to frame someone else was for nothing.

I suspect that having spent so much money producing and promoting the 'Cataclysmic Event' TIIC want to get their money's worth. Though from what y'all are saying, it doesn't sound as if the money's up there for everyone to see...

On a radio promo for GH (gah?) that I heard on my way into work, the announcer said that the fire story will last - wait for it - TWO WEEKS

Nothing like beating a dead horse into submission. Except on GH, TMFIC not only beat the horse, they shoot it in the head and the back, then frame it for murder, and lock it in a burning room until it resembles a Kingsford Charcoal Briquette. All this takes TIME, you know.

Ih8tHild, that song is fantastic. But, then, I have an inexplicable love for the original as well. And, by the way, I am with you on the Courtney hate. I don't think she's surpassed Sonny Level, but she's getting right up there with him. Which is really strange for me because I enjoy Alicia Leigh Willis, apart from the incessant eye-rolling.

Ha! Jason's Girl! I love it (and I too love the original. Not sure why, exactly). ITA that we have to save these songs (and poems, and even really, really great quotes, too). It would make a great GH webpage.

Also, who did up that TWoP GH glossary? Because there are many, many recent additions that could go up.

Anyway, only 10 minutes in, and I'm already overwhelmed by the suck.

He probably knows more than a trained firefighter, too. And of course he'll come out looking like the big hero, because he saves children (cops be damned, I say).

And as for Sonny, is anyone here surprised that he looked to have the upper hand in that fight? Apparently, he can take anyone. He's just that tough. And then poor, weak Alcazar is the one left to die. Just so Sonny can save him. Again I say, of course.

This stupid waste of time and money is obviously just a way to reestablish the Drabs as the bestest, kindest, smartest mobsters ever. Drabs 4-life, y'all!!!1!!!!

Also, that hotel "special effect"? Hilariously bad. It looked like a cartoon -- a really bad, cheap cartoon. I can't believe they paid for that.

I'm with Metaluna on the Jason hate. "The window's open"? No, it's not, you freak. The glass is broken, but the window is still closed. And you're a dillhole. And I was unbelievably disgusted at the idea that the guy those kids know is not a cop shot his fucking gun off in front of them. I don't care that it was to get the door open. It was just offensive.

You know what offended me even more? Seeing FireSafety!Skipper help that woman down the stairs gives me such a creepy 9/11 flashback. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end.

Also, I know she was freaked out, but Liz? No, the woman standing there in her flannel nightgown and bathrobe was not in the Versailles Room.

I like Sage now. There, I said it.

D'oh! Sorry, captanne. Okay, just for today, Jason isn't a moron. Or a freak, or a dillhole. He's a heroic, oddly omniscient, eerily stoic hitman with a heart of...well, at least copper.

JohnnysAngel, you're not the only one who thinks SD is looking better lately, certainly not 66. I'd like to think it's because he knows he's getting a storyline and is happier at work. I suspect it means his back is feeling better (which is still good).

I was going to say that I have some webspace, but I see that offer has been made. For some reason, last night I became obsessed with putting up the Monica clip about the health effects of Carbonic snow (I'm sure my obsession was completely unrelated to the brief I was suppose to be cite checking instead). Got it clipped, but not loaded, my Airport was acting weird. Perhaps it was frozen in carbonic snow. Damned Cassadines.

Ih8thild, that was 80'slicious! And it's stuck in my head. And wierdly, the real version just came on the radio RIGHT NOW! Kudos.

Can someone tell me how the elevator cable got frayed? It's not on fire. Alexis and Carly didn't exceed the maximum weight for the elevator. And aren't very few elevators nowadays held up by more than just a cable anyway? I mean, I just don't get the elevator thing. It's a fire, not an earthquake.

And if the fire is traveling along the electrical grid, shouldn't the power be out?

Did it bug anybody else that when Tom was going to break the window, it was deemed unsafe, but when Jason did it it was all hunky dory? I mean, why doesn't he just use his ice breath to freeze the fire, and then fly backwards around the world to turn back time and tell Edward to get the system fixed?

Edited because jase-bot beat me to the backdraft thing, but its stupidity cannot be mentioned enough.
