I finally bought my Alias calendar... Of course I waited for the discount and I think they sold out at Amazon.com... Not that I needed anymore calendars... I was going to buy the soundtrack but after previewing it, it was so boring but I know I'll buy it eventually... along with the trading cards
Taffi01
I wish they would write a decent Alias Fiction novel... the ones out so far, I know they are aimed at "young adults" (i.e. teens) but still, I reckon even if I were 15 years younger, I'd still find them jouvenile!

I mean, then idea of setting them as prequels is fine, and they've actually been fairly creative in how they have done it, despite the obvious limitations since she's not suposed to have met Vaughn, or see her father as more than a robotron who sells airplane parts...but the writing style.....?

And poor Francie gets such a bad deal out of it - just read Father Figure, and I can't see how those 2 are still friends by season 1, let alone best mates and roomies!!!
lynrow116
Oh my God. I'm so bummed. I saw the Alias calendar at the calendar store before Christmas and thought I'd go and get it afterwards so as to get the discount. But there were none left:(

Now I've checked online, and it looks like it's sold out everywhere! Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other calendar sites.

Do any of you know of anywhere that I can find it? Any suggestions?
fuzzybutt
If you just can't live without an Alias calendar, and don't mind spending a fortune, I've seen a couple pop up on eBay. The latest offering was up to $25.00 yesterday (twice the original price) so be prepared to really cough up the green.
neptune36
I found my calendar at one of those traveling calendar shops that are usually set up in the mall right before Christmas. I went a couple of days after and got mine for 50% off (a little under $7).
dst
Has anyone seen the Alias action figures yet? If so, where? Thanks!

Actually I snagged mine at 15% off from Amazon. But this was back...at least six months ago. Now they are offering it at 20% off for 10.39. So don't cough up too much green - always go with Amazon.I get all my stuff from there.

Warning about buying from Amazon: I just checked, and they say the 2004 calendar hasn't been released yet. The expected ship date is July 6, 2004. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but I thought I'd pass it along.

eta, I sent an email to Amazon to check on the accuracy of the ship date. If I find out anything, I'll let y'all know.

eta again: I got an email from Amazon regurgitating the info that the 2004 calendar was due to be released in July. Asshats.
kbia444
I have a question about Season 1 and Season 2 DVDs. On like page 7 someone posted about Easter eggs on two bonus features. I was just wondering how do you find or get to the Easter eggs.
thanks
JenMD
kbia444, there are two alternate scenes that will pop up in Phase One and The Telling when you watch it with the commentary enabled. PO is during the plane fight and TT is at the very end with Syd/Vaughn. You don't have to do anything special (hit any extra buttons, etc), they'll just come up during the course of the commentary.
Pronger44
My world has ended. The ALIAS action figures have pre-sold out. They aren't even available until February, but now you can't even order them. I knew I should have pre-ordered them months ago! I wanted the two pack with Syd and Vaughn. And yes Virginia, I am a dork.
LegallyBlonde
These figures, Pronger?
Pronger44
Eek! Thanks LegallyBlonde! I did a search on Ebay earlier and it said nothing found. That is so cool.

ETA: Just made my bid. Keeping my fingers crossed. They will look so great sitting on my computer in my office. Plus, when I'm bored I can have Vaughn go on a mission with my talking Kenny doll.
fifi1216
Entertainment Earth still has the Vaughn/Syd pair of figures for $19.99 in stock. Just bought mine less than 10 minutes ago...hurry on over!

aliasthegame.com has been updated with two new gameplay movies here. Man, does this game look great or what? April 6th can't come fast enough! Also, even if you don't plan on buying the game or care about seeing the videos, I suggest downloading the Mission Briefing one anyway, only because Marshall is just so freakin' hilarious in it. KW rocks, even in video game form!

I just picked up the Official Alias Magazine #3 and I thought I would mention that there are a couple of articles that people on this board might find very interesting.

The first, (which I mentioned in the Spoiler thread but isn't really spoilery) is an article on Alias and the 'Alice in Wonderland' references.

The second, is a letter/article penned by J.J. Abrams called "Listening the the Audience" where he talks about visiting Alias fan sites. He discusses the whole 'we changed Will's story arc in season 1 because of you!' but he also mentions the nickname 'Willage Idiot'. I don't remember if it was Regina or a poster who came up with it, but...SHOUT OUT!

Please be advised though, MAJOR spoilers for the next few episodes are found throughout the magazine.
KaveDweller
What does it say about Alias/Alice in Wonderland? Does JJ actually talk about it?
caia1970
Tagged in consideration of those who don't want to know anything at all:

Basically it mentions some of the Alice references and J.J. talks about it and says that, yes, they were intentional.
Erin
Actually, I it was Souris who came up with the nickname. Mine was "Won't" which didn't really go far. Heh. Nice to know that JJ actually reads (or, at least, read at one time) these boards.
Edyn04
Jesus. I found a site that offers subscriptions for the Alias mag and it is $42 damn dollars. Does anyone know of another site that has it cheaper? I mean, it's only 6 issues, and for that price I could get 48 issues of EGM for chrissakes.
JenMD
I don't know if you'll find it cheaper, it's the official site for subscriptions. That's just the usual issue price (6.99/US). Probably not offering a discount off the cover price because they're so few issues per year and it likely doesn't have huge circulation.

While browsing around Barnes and Noble on Thursday, I found another Alias episode guide. It's called Secret Identities: An Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide To Alias. It's an import from the UK.

Virgin, the company that put it out, has also done ones for 'The X-Files', 'Angel', and 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', and the style is slightly different than most episode guides. It covers the first two seasons, and besides overviews of the plot, it includes categories such as 'Mission', 'Countermission' and 'Reality Checks', as well as comments on the clothes, music, and the role of each character in the episode.

It's a fun read, and does a pretty good job of explaining all the plots and twists of the show, which is great if you're just getting into it (as I am).
Sister Spooky
Here's an article (with pictures!) about new Alias figures. A new company is picking up the Alias license and they will be making lots of figures (Sark and Will among many others). There's a picture of a Sydney bust they made and it is awesome!
caia1970
Three Smitis sets will also be released

Anybody know what a 'Smitis' is?

eta: Never mind I googled it.
fuzzybutt
Gee---it actually looks like Syd---wonder what they did right? And I am so waiting to get my hands on the Jack figure---Victor Garber has kidded in interviews that he really hoped he'd get his own action figure. So what kind of accessories should a SpyDaddy action figure come with?
kenyaj
A passive transmitter?
Invisigirl
Dude! On the Sydney doll, look at her arms!!! They really paid attention to detail!
Jen724
A passive transmitter?

Hee! Should the Beard be included, or would that be too scary?
KaveDweller
That article said the figures were being released in September in coincide with season 3 DVD's and the start of season 4 on ABC. Now, I know they have not officially been picked up, so do you think this company got some confimation from ABC that there will be another season when they set this release date?
dysney
Dude, Alias wins awards, is on on almost all critics top 10 lists, AND Hollywood watches this show. They would be monkeys if they did not renew it for season four!

But then, ABC is run by monkeys, yah? Jennifer Love Hewitt? Bah!
Alias Fanatic
That's a pretty freakin' good likeness of JG.
JenMD
Yeah, that is world's away from the previous figures. Bodes well for the rest, as well. I just wish the hair was doll hair. I really shouldn't complain though, at least this looks like JG.
caia1970
Back in November in this thread there was a discussion about where to rent the Alias DVDs in Canada.

Well I just read an article in the local paper about a new website Zip that is basically the Canadian version of Netflix.

I mention this for two reasons, one of the guys in the accompanying picture was holding up the Alias dvd (woohoo!), and I checked and they do have Alias for rent.
jeskawo
KaveDweller mark your calendar for Sept. 7 that's when the Season 3 DVDs come out.
Extras are set to include a production design featurette, a blooper reel, deleted scenes, an "inside look at Marshall Flinkman's gadget lab" and "Alias Diaries" behind-the-scenes stuff.
There's another really cool thing that's going to happen on this DVD set but I want to check it out a little bit before I put it out there. It's something that would get people on this board pretty excited I think...

ETA: lol... caia1970 well it looks like I've been slacking on reading the boards as much as I have been at my job, thought I recently got the brushoff from BV on this..
caia1970
jeskawo: You might want to out the DVD thread. The season 3 DVD and accompanying features were already discussed there.
Ana77
I have a question about the Alias soundtrack for you all. Does anyone know of a site that specifies which episode each track is from? My web searches haven't helped so far. Thank you.
caia1970
Anybody want a free "Alias: The Game" calendar?
Pronger44
Ana77- Over in the I Sing the Ovary Electric: Alias Music thread there was discussion about where all the songs came from. I believe kzingirl and others identified quite a few of the songs. About halfway down this page and on, I think they were all identified.

Alias: The Game is going to be released this Tuesday, at least for PS2 and XBox, PC gamers will have to wait until the end of the month. Most of the reviews I've seen have scored the game around 75-85%. Keep in mind, most of these gaming magazines are very tough reviewers, and only give scores above 90% to a small amount of games. In fact, the biggest complaint has been that the game is a tad too easy for experienced gamers. Considering most of Alias's fan base aren't experienced gamers, I'm not sure that's entirely a bad thing. Is anyone else going to pick the game up? I'm looking forward to it, it looks incredible!
caia1970
....PC gamers will have to wait until the end of the month...

End of May I believe. And yes I'll definitely be picking it up for pc when it comes out. It pisses me off I have to wait an extra two months though.
Vgmastr
End of May I believe.

Really? Where'd you hear that? EBgames.com has the PC version being released on April 28.

Also, I just watched some videos of the game IGN put up a couple of weeks ago here. They show something really cool. I figured Sydney's outfits were just for decoration, but there's much more to them than that. What you have her wear affects the game. One example they showed is Sydney in a freezer wearing the cocktail waitress outfit. She's hunched over and shivering, unable to move with any speed. However, they put her Stealth Suit on, which is heated, and suddenly she can move normally. Also, the guards reactions to you are affected by your wardrobe. If you're wearing the cocktail waitress outfit while wandering around in the employee area of the casino, and a guard catches you, he'll just tell you to get back to work. However, if you wander too far into the depths of the casino or are wearing something different, the guards' reactions may be a bit more violent. I thought this was a cool feature just like the show.
caia1970
I could be wrong about the date. They keep changing it. I thought it was May 28th the last time I looked at EB Games. Maybe they moved it up?
Vgmastr
I picked up Alias: the Game today, and it's a blast! After hearing the reviews about how it would be easy for the experienced gamer, I figured I'd pop the disk in, and finish the first mission in 20-30 minutes. So I start playing, and three hours later, I finally finish the first mission. It's tough, but it's fun.

One thing at the start that totally showed J.J. had a lot to do with the writing:
The first thing you see is Syd observing someone, and three guys sneak up behind her. They radio to someone that they have her in custody. Then it shows they're talking to Anna Espinosa and Sloane. Anna tells them to kill her, then "72 hours earlier" flashes on the screen, and you see the beginning of the story. Showing the end at the beginning, that's total J.J. Plus, since this game takes place in season 2, we get some S/V flirting.

Vaughn: "Sorry to call you in on your day off."

Syd: "It's ok, I was just practicing my slapshot, next time we go one-on-one, I'll be ready."
KarrieK
This counts as Alias Merchandise, doesn't it?

Who's Your Spy Daddy?
caia1970
I think Glark is trying to take all my money.
Invisigirl
Heh heh. I just ordered mine. Thank you Glark!
bitterpill
So shippers will have to rent/buy a video game to get a Syd/Vaughn fix.

Don't think I won't do it.
denzylle
Sorry, Regina .
Erin
That post belongs in the ALIAS: The Game thread, denzylle. Please put it there.

I got the Alias magazine issue #4 yesterday which was a pleasant surprise since I didn't expect it to be out for another week. Anyway, it's very spoiler-y since they talk about the end of Episode 19 and it's very entertaining. They talk about the new action figures, the Rambaldi box, the murder of Sen. Reed, and the cover is nice. What else? Two Sydney posters!
