To continue with the Starsailor love, if we ever do get some nice lengthy introspective shot of Sark, I'd love something with the lonely feel and slow tempo of "Love is Here" to be used. Depending on which lyrics are included, it's good for implying Sark/Allison, Sark/Lazabaddaddy, or Sark/Syd.

And "Coming Down" is perfect angsty Jack/Irina if there ever was a song for them. I can so picture this playing while Jack remembers...and I WANT that scene.

If you don't mind/Could we not fight?
I see you're close woman/In the night
I'm sober/Still alive

Waste your days/On your own
Getting drunk/Getting stoned
I'm sober/Still alone

Must I always take a back seat?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?

See your face/See your eyes
Shouldn't have left/Shouldn't have lied
I'm sober/Spirit's died
Rockyhorror434
Ooh that's a good one, Mnemosyne- I agree that a Jack Remembers seen is needed.
Elektra43
If this song hasn't been on the show before (for some reason I think it has, but I'm not about to search through 54 episodes to check) then I'd love to see "Mas" by Kinky.
aurora
They played that in the episode when Syd and Dixon went to a club to see (see a.k.a. beat up) the guy who stole the Rambaldi heart.
Elektra43
Thanks, aurora. *skips off to go prove brother wrong* Oh, the glorious TWoP posters. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
ozgal
I thought this would be good for "Vaughn/missing 2 yrs flashback". Just your average, run-of-the-mill, in denial 'ship song.

Unsent letter by Machine Gun Fellatio

I try to talk to you
And can't get past the weather
The friend I thought I knew
Found somethin' somewhere better
So I'm hangin' on your line
Thought we could speak together
Don't know what it is with you
You seem gone forever

I'm spending all my time
Driving 'round, faking clever
With a girl who seem alright
And another one who's better
I don't know if I lied
When I said we're not together
But I tried to talk to you
And somehow you seem gone...

I know what could've been
Try not to think about it
Found it hard to live with this
Longed to live without it
My dreams have caught me out
I find myself surrounded
By the odds of our own ends
Enough said about it

I'm spending all my time
Driving 'round, faking clever
With a girl who seem alright
And another one who's better
I don't know if I lied
When I said we're not together
But I tried to talk to you
And somehow you seem gone...

I've given up some things
I guess that doesn't matter
Started other things
I guess that doesn't matter
I finally wrote your song
Another unsent letter
In a pile addressed to you
Care of something somewhere better

(Also, Alex Lloyd should be the new Coldplay for Alias. The guy is a wordsmith)
TornadoP
Someone mentioned Jet way back on page 16, but this song stood out. The SpoNo Spec page was talking about a confrontation between Jack and Sydney, and I thought this one would work well, if that kind of scene ever happened.

"Look What You've Done"-- Jet (sound bite)

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to prove

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Give me back my point of view
'Cause I just can't think for you
I can hardly hear you say
What should I do, well you choose

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to do

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
Mnemosyne
Ack! That's a good one, TornadoP - I just don't want anything to come between my SpyDaddy and Syd. But the tempo is perfect for the background on a scene like that.

If we get any nice introspective/reaction shots from Syd or Sark, or an "I'm all alone I have no one" moment, I'd love "Cathedrals" by Jump, Little Children. Truly beautiful, mournful and haunting - you can listen to it here by selecting "music" from the drop-down menu. The lyrics are poetry, and the way it's sung can make you cry.
In the shadows of tall buildings
Of open arches endlessly kneeling
Sonic landscapes echoing vistas
Someone is listening from a safe distance
The line moves slowly into a fading light
A final moment in the dead of night

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

But actually anything from JLC's album Vertigo would make me so happy - their music is just so good, and they use strings a lot, so I think it would be perfect for background on a still moment. I could see "Angeldust" fitting right in, yet being distinctive.
bobisbob
Oh my god, TornadoP, we have the same brain (or something). I recerntly became a hardcore Jet fan, and when I heard that song, my mind immediately jumped to Alias. I just love the tone- it's mournful and sweet and sad at the same time.
bintangbob
A few recs here...

True Love Waits by Radiohead. I think would be good for a bit of S/V angst. But it doesn't really fit in with the whole Alias feel, so I can't see it ever being played (I'll down a bottle of sambuca and swallow a lit match if it's played next week...)

Someone mentioned Muse earlier (TIRO is a fantastic song, hrlo have you seen the video?) Unintended from their first album could be another S/V one. Oh, and fourth verse? Yeah, that'll be the COW he's singing about.

Roads by Portishead. I can hear this being played during a scene where Syd is at home on her lonesome, she gets up in the middle of the night, and is just wandering through her house, in the dark, looking all sorts of sad and forlorn

I got nobody on my side
And surely that ain't right
And surely that ain't right

Apart from this, the lyrics aren't the most apt, but Beth Gibbons has such a great, haunting voice. Everyone needs a bit of Portishead, even if the band seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

The Promise by Tracy Chapman. A fantastically sweet song, which I can totally hear being played at the end of an ep, from Syd's POV. Except he didn't wait, did he? Gah.

Before Phase One and the S/V goodness aired, I always imagined The Long Day Is Over by Norah Jones to be the song which would be played when SD-6 is taken down and then future Mr and Mrs Spy get it together against Norah Jones's wonderous voice. Ah well. Still. There you go.

I don't think these have been mentioned, but I'm sorry if they have! That's all I got for the moment. But I'm sure I'll be back, because this place seems to have its grip on me just a few days after registering already...
Mnemosyne
Since I'm in dire need of cheering up - I think we should get an up-beat song with a kicking beat for my Sarkie. I want "Magazine" by Jump, Little Children. I've been listening to them non-stop lately. Great beat and guitar, a fun sound to it, and catchy lyrics.

I wanna live in a magazine
I wanna go in cheap and come out clean
I wanna live in a magazine
I wanna be obscure with a girl obscene
Don't try to take me down, 'cause you know I won't go
I don't give a damn about it anymore
I won't go
A sentimental position/hold that thought
An emotional gesture/let it go
An enamel persona/residue
A scientific religion/break it down
Some things do last forever
I won't go

I've been singing the chorus for days. Good stuff. I wish I could see Sark doing a crazy mission to this song. (eta btw, you can listen to this song here. Again, select music from the drop-down menu.)
DoppelganGirl
Yup, another Guster song from me.

Come Downstairs and Say Hello: I really love this song; it's packed with emotion. I think it'd be great in a "Syd contemplates with her glass of wine" scene.

Particularly good lyrics:
Dorothy moves to click her ruby shoes
Right in tune with dark side of the moon
Someone, someone could tell me
Where I belong
Be calm, be brave, it'll be okay
No more messing around and living underground
And new year's resolutions

and

To tell you the truth, I've said it before
Tomorrow I start in a new direction
One last time these words from me
I'm never saying them again

Full lyrics here.

Pulled out my Phantom Planet Cd today. This made me feel like a Sydney(ish) scene coming back from some kind of anger/failure.

"One Ray of Sunlight" ~Phantom Planet.

Goodness sometimes things get bad
But I swear
I'm doing all I can
So try all you want to
I'm gonna try too

If I get one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy again
I'll try for one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy and then...

Things don't go as I planned
But I swear I'm doing all I can
So try all you want to
I'm gonna try too

If I get one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy again
I'll try for one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
And I guess if this isn't the end
Maybe we can be happy again.

You can find a clip here. Pick music, and the songs under the album "The Guest."
Jersey47
You know, I just saw a commercial for some "Ultimate Rock" party music thing, and seriously? I have half of the songs stuck in my head now. Does anyone remember Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy"? Because that would be a cool seduction song. And the song "Take My Picture" by Filter. I don't know what it could be used for, but I love the song.
alikona727
The lyrics to this song would have been more appropriate for S1-era Sydney angst, but it's just so beautiful that I can't help but rec it. The song is Mad World by Gary Jules. It initially appeared on the "Donnie Darko" soundtrack, but recently hit the top of the UK charts. My favorite radio station in SF picked it up, and I can't get it out of my head. It could still work -- the second verse has some weird Project Christmas vibes to it.

First verse:
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places – worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere – going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression – no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow – no tomorrow

Second verse:
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday – happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen – sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me – no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me – look right through me

Chorus:
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very very
mad world mad world

Edited because I still want to see some Such Great Heights, damnit.
Alias Fanatic
Upthread, Ryan Adams was mentioned. I'm a little late to the party, but want to second that rec. Rock N Roll is a great CD and "So Alive" is perfect for Syd and Vaughn.

Ryan Adams Web Page

Today I watched the boats
Moving through the harbor
Walking on water
In your arms I'd stay
Forever if I could
Fireer if I may
Keeps me in your thoughts, don't disappear

I am on your side
And so alive
So alive it isn't real

If this is how I feel
Then nothing now is true
And nothing now can ever be taken away from you
Sinking in the past
The things that shouldn't last
Just put to bed and stand beside me
Stand beside me

Always on your side
I'm on your side
And so alive it isn't real

I am on your side
And so alive
And so alive
And so alive

I am on your side
I am on your side
I am on your side
And so alive
So alive
Mnemosyne
Oh, thanks, Alias Fanatic! For picking up the Ryan Adams torch, that is. I'll state once again that if you're on the fence about him, you can listen to his entire new kick-ass CD by clicking on the music link at his site. I wasn't a huge fan of his before "Rock n Roll," but this new stuff rocks. And "So Alive" and "Anybody Wanna Take Me Home" would be great on Alias. Especially in connection to Syd and Vaughn, if you must see things that way. :p

I'd swear someone mentioned Gary Jules' Mad World before. Oh well, it's so haunting, they MUST use it. (And The Postal Service too.)

eta dazzie rec'd Mad World on page 11. I used that nifty search feature for the first time! Might help us out on this thread. No worries though; just goes to show what excellent taste we all have.
alikona727
Doh. I read about ten pages back and didn't see it, so I went ahead and posted. Bad TWoPper. [slaps self on wrist]
chaton_espion
I agree that Ryan Adams's latest kicks all sorts of ass. I'd love to hear "So Alive" on the show. And I'd like to re-agree on "Mad World". I've loved that song since I first saw Donnie Darko, and it would be perfection played over some sort of aftermath scene.

I actually heard this song on another show, but I'd love to hear it on Alias, too. It's "Future Proof" by Massive Attack. I think the lyrics apply mostly to Syd, but could be used for Sark as well.

Borderline cases
Reinforced glass
Absent friends
Passport photos
An elastic past
Empty pocket
They think it is all...
They think it’s soul
All wrapped up on a swollen lip
He draws the warm pipe.

Chemicals
Chemicals captured in winter's grip
Turn us on

Seperate the leper
Hungry ghosts
Hungry ghosts
Another imprint
In borrowed clothes
We can be numb
We can be numb
Passing through

Blow blow blow blow

Borderline case
Future proof
Real thin air
Real thin air
Real thin air

It's very haunting and seductive.

BTW, Mnemo, thanks for rec'ing Jump, Little Children. I checked them out, and am now thoroughly in love. Awesome stuff.
Mnemosyne
thanks for rec'ing Jump, Little Children. I checked them out, and am now thoroughly in love. Awesome stuff.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you like them, that makes me so happy. Too few people know about them, and they are SO unbelievably frickin' good it makes me crazy that they're not huge. I would freak the fuck out if they were on Alias - and they're perfect for it, IMO.
LinaBo
Born too late to form an appreciation, I'm just recently forming one for The Flaming Lips, and after hearing 'Do You Realize?' in a commercial (for a car... I think... I was really just paying attention to the song), I am just dying for it to be used on the show. I'm not sure how, I'm not sure where, but Bob Dammit... it can be done, of that I'm sure!

... actually, it just came to me. It really should be used for a Jack and Syd Daddy-Daughter moment, post life-endangering, emotional wrenching, borderline illegal mission. It would just be really right, I think. Plus, it's not like that doesn't happen in 2/3rds of the episodes;) Plenty of opportunity...

As I'm only a lowly person with limited knowledge of TFL, anyone who's a legitimate fan should feel free to submit different (better?) song suggestions.
Valhalla
Yay for the Flaming Lips!!! Sadly, I'm still just an amateur fan when it comes to that great band, but 'Do You Realize' is definitely a good choice, LinaBo. Total Jack/Syd moment.

Also took the recommendation for Jump, Little Children, and ... wow. Just wow. I've been lucky enough to pick up some great musical suggestion from y'all.

You know what? I would really, really love to see some Philip Glass on 'Alias', as crazy, ambient background music. Or Jack listening to some Tom Waits. That would rock the house. Also, don't know how well emo would work on the show, but 'I'll Catch You' by the Get Up Kids is a beautiful (and very SV-appropriate) song.

your arms in mine
any time
wouldn't trade anything
you're still my everything

to my suprise
before my eyes
you arrive

don't worry I'll catch you
don't worry I'll catch you
don't ever worry

still breaking old habits,
habits
you pulled the wool over me
and I can see everything
everything
remembering
Jinx removing

no need for reminding
you're still all that matters to me...

ETA: Since they're recc'd so often on this board (often by me, haha), thought I'd just mention that I managed to catch a Pilate show on Monday ... great, great live band. Even played 'Into Your Hideout'!
katiegrl
Since we are already recommending Tom Waits, I had to say I think his song "I hope that I don't fall in love with you" would be perfect for the show, especially in a Syd/Vaughn moment. I mean, we all know that they are already in love, but still.
Well I hope that I don't fall in love with you
'Cause falling in love just makes me blue,
Well the music plays and you display your heart for me to see,
I had a beer and now I hear you calling out for me
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

Well the room is crowded, people everywhere
And I wonder, should I offer you a chair?
Well if you sit down with this old clown, take that frown and break it,
Before the evening's gone away, I think that we could make it,
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

That's the first part, and then the end goes:
I can see that you are lonesome just like me, and it being late,
You'd like some some company,
Well I turn around to look at you, and you look back at me,
The guy you're with has up and split, the chair next to you's free,
And I hope that you don't fall in love with me.

Now it's closing time, the music's fading out
Last call for drinks, I'll have another stout.
Well I turn around to look at you, you're nowhere to be found,
I search the place for your lost face, guess I'll have another round
And I think that I just fell in love with you.

I just think this could really work for the show.
MeeshyPeeshy22
This would have been the perfect S2 song for Syd and Vaughn. Lovers in a Dangerous Time by Bruce Cockburn.
When you're lovers in a dangerous time
Sometimes you're made to feel as if your love's a crime
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight
This season everything is so messed up, but when I hear it I like to pretend they are together and the world is happy, if not dangerous. I know you can listen to about 30 seconds of the song here.

ITA about Jump, Little Children. Thanks Mnemosyne!
fuzzy_ears
My first time chiming in on this thread, although I do check in here quite a bit. 60 per cent of my music list on the computer is generated from either Alias or recs on given on here. Thanks, guys.

I want to rec a genre that isn't tapped into much. This is classical opera -- Pietro Mascagni's incredibly moving piece "Intermezzo" from "Cavalleria Rusticana."

I would kill for it to be used in a soundless romantic scene, because it gets such a big emotional response from me. It doesn't matter between who, just a pair of people in a scene that has no sound...but lots of hugging. Maybe where something significant is revealed without words?

(MeeshyPeeshy, I love "Lovers in a Dangerous Time!" Although I am a bit more familiar with the Barenaked Ladies' remake of it. Excellent rec.)
Rockyhorror434
I heard The Hives' Hate To Say I Told You So today. I think it'd be good for a Syd kicking butt montage. It's a little hard to tell from the lyrics, but the song itself is really good.
aurora
Didn't they play that when Syd and Vaughn broke into The Vatican? Am I imagining things again?
Edyn04
Yup, they played it during the Vatican scene of "The Prophecy."

The weird thing is, I liked the song when I heard it in that context, but I didn't like it when I downloaded it illegally.. er I mean..oh nevermind.. but yeah. It was good in the show, though. ;x
Rockyhorror434
Wow, I guess I really need to start watching the show. Yikes.
Jersey47
Rockyhorror? It's okay. I did the exact same thing.
I think it was the same song too.
Anyway, I just got the Maroon 5 CD "Songs About Jane", and I love the songs "Under Your Skin" (generally cool song) and "She Will Be Loved" for Syd.
Rockyhorror434
And apparently I should start reading the thread, too.

What sort of music is Maroon 5?
Jersey47
What sort of music is Maroon 5?

Um...pop/rock. You know the song "Harder to Breathe"? And "This Love"? They're on VH1 all the time. That's them.
Mnemosyne
I recc'd Maroon 5 back on page 14, but I chose different songs. I love that CD too!

They have kind of a bluesy guitar sound, very enjoyable. Could be used for a variety of moments, both high energy or something sweet. Worth checking out, I had that CD playing non-stop for a while.
LinaBo
I really would like to hear U2's "Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me". It's a really great Sark-centric/Sarkney song (okay, well, except that whole 'sister' thing. I prefer to interpret that line as a 'fraternal connection via Project Christmas', rather than an actual biological relationship... *shudders*)

You don't know how you took it
You just know what you got
Oh lawdy, you been stealing from the thieves
And you got caught
In the headlights of a stretch car,
You're a star.

Dressing like your sister
Living like a tart
If they don't know what you're doin'
Babe it must be art,
You're a headache, in a suitcase
You're a star.

Oh, no, don't be shy
You don't have to go blind,
Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me.

You don't know how you got here
You just know you want out
Believing in yourself almost as much as you doubt,
You're a big smash
You wear it like a rash
Star.

Oh no, don't be shy
You need a crowd to cry,
Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me.

They want you to be Jesus
They'll go down on one knee
But they'll want their money back
If you're alive at thirty-three,
And you're turning tricks
With your crucifix.
You're a star, oh child

Of course you're not shy
You don't have to deny love,
Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me.
Jersey47
Mnemosyne, "This Love" is my favorite on the CD. And I didn't see the recommendation, but they rock, don't they?
Ooh. And O.A.R.'s "Hey Girl".
quotidian
I wish JJ was more enamored of hip-hop. Missy Elliott's new one "I'm Really Hot" is soooooo perfect for this show (and catch the "Kill Bill" references in the video). I'm sure the permission fee would be gigantic, but it seriously has some "Alias"-style beeps and boops in it.

As for the lyrics, I just can't decide if they're better for Sydney or Irina. Gah.
Jersey47
As for the lyrics, I just can't decide if they're better for Sydney or Irina. Gah.

I have that problem a lot too. And they seriously should use some hip-hop on the show. There's only so much complaint rock you can take.
By the way...
I recently aquired *cough*burned*cough* the love actually soundtrack, and the song "Too Lost In You" by the Sugababes is sexy, for a couples song. And I'm not really a Kelly Clarkson fan, but "The Trouble With Love Is" is a goot song for, like, Irina, Jack, Lauren, Vaughn, and Sydney, peferrably in a confrontation scene or comfort or something.
But the Sugababes "Too Lost In You" is funky and sexy for a couples scene (preferrably not the Elephants. Well, not all of them...)
wintersa
Lately I've been hearing a new Staind song on the radio that I think would be perfect for Syd this season. You guys have probably heard it -- it's called "So Far Away," and its lyrics are dead-on. There's a little clip of the chorus up at VH-1.com. The chorus is the hardest part of the song; the beginning is very mellow and melancholy.

This is my life
It's not what it was before
All these feelings I've shared
And these dreams
That I'd never lived before
Somebody shake me 'cause I
I must be sleeping

Now that we're here, it's so far away
All the struggle we thought was all in vain
They all finally start to go away
Now that we're here, it's so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive, and I'm not ashamed
To be the person I am today

These are my words
That I've never said before
I think I'm doing okay
And this smile
That I've never shown before
Somebody shake me 'cause I
I must be sleeping

Also, I've been dying to hear BT's "Satellite" on Alias somewhere ever since I first heard it. It's a very lush, gorgeous, modern song, with just the right sense of otherworldliness. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good clip of it anywhere that wasn't the first 10 seconds of the song, which isn't representative at all.
Mnemosyne
Dude! I love BT! He rocks the hizzouse, yo. Okay, I can't do that lingo. But I just got his latest, Emotional Technology, and I'd love to hear something like "Somnambulist":

So little joy, so little joy / It's complicated / I feel I'm stumbling in the dark / Somnambulated / I feel my heart seeking the sparks / I'm praying for love / Simply being loved x3 / Is more than enough

Or "The Great Escape" and "Force of Gravity" for a mission or club scene. Fun stuff.
SweetP
Zero 7 is just so glorious lush. From "Simple Things" - Destiny for all you S/V shippers. Listen to this song and you won't be disappointed!

I've gone to ground
I'm watching porn
In my hotel dressing gown
Now I dream of you
But I still believe
There's only enough for one in this
Lonely hotel suite

The journey's long
And it feels so bad
I'm thinking back to the last day we had
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you

When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny

On a clear day
I'll fly home to you
I'm bending time getting back to you
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you

When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny

When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny

I'll fly, I'll fly home
I'll fly home and I'll fly home
Jersey47
I like Maroon 5's "Must Get Out" for Vaughn.
I've been the needle and the thread
Weaving figure eights and circles round your head
I try to laugh byt cry instead
Patiently wait to hear the words you've never said

Fumbling through your dresser drawer
Forgot what I was looking for
Try to guide me in the right direction
Making use of all this time
Keeping everything inside
Close my eyes and listen to you cry
Chorus
I'm lifting you up
I'm letting you down
I'm dancing til dawn
I'm fooling around
I'm not giving up
I'm making your love
This city's made us crazy and we must get out

This is not goodbye she said
It is just time for me to rest my head
She does not walk she runs instead
Down these jagged streets and into my bed

When I was fumbling through your dresser drawer,
Forgot what I was looking for
Try to guide me in the right direction
Making use of all this time
Kepping everything inside
Close my eyes and listen to you cry.

Chorus

There's only so much I can do for you
After all of the things you've put me through.
Rockyhorror434
I just bought the Norah Jones cd, and a few of the songs could work on Alias. I liked this one (The Long Way Home) in particular, probably for J/I Irina POV. It might have been better last year, but I'll take what I can get.

Well I stumbled in the darkness
I'm lost and alone
Though I said I'd go before us
And show the way back home
Is there a light up ahead
I can't hold on very long
Forgive me pretty baby but I always take the long way home

Money's just something you throw
Off the back of a train
Got a headful of lightning
And a hat full of rain
And I know that I said
I'd never do it again
Oh and I love you sweet baby but I always take the long way home

I put food on the table
And roof over your head
But I'd trade it all tomorrow
For The highway instead
Watch your back if I should tell
You’re loves the only thing I've ever known
One thing for sure sweet baby I always take the long way home

You know I love you baby
More than the whole wide world
I’m your woman
You know you are my pearl
Let's go out past the party lights
Where we can finally be alone
Come with me and we can take the long way home
Come with me, together we can take the long way home
Come with me, together we can take the long way home

I'd love to see some Richard Ashcroft on the show, especially "Crazy World."

It's a crazy world
For a mixed up boy and a mixed up girl

So, you got no god
You got no love
To tell me off

But you got that spirit, so please stick with it
This world wouldn't be a world without you in it

Just for shits and giggles, Dixon should sing "Crocodile On My Feet" by Outkast.

This isn't really an Alias song so much as it is a fan-discontent song, but I figured it'd really fit here:

Ballad For Dead Friends, by the Dashboard Prophets
How are you feeling/Do you feel okay/'cause I don't

It keep's me reeling/Will I ever be the same/No I won't/It's a cold day in a cruel world

I really wish I could have saved you
then you would have saved me from myself
Right now well I could use a [stiff] drink
to kill the pain that's deep inside my bones

Have you been dreaming/I don't dream at all/I have nightmares

Memories [careening]/Have you come to kill what's left/of my smile/there's no [vacancy] in paradise

I really wish I could have saved you
then you would have saved me from myself
Right now well I could use a [stiff] drink
to kill the pain that's deep inside my bones
I really wish I could have saved you
then you would have saved me from myself
I really wish I could have saved you

I'll never forget you [i](repeat x4)

It was used in S1 Buffy, IIRC, but the chorus just really seems to fully express the predicament of the Alias fans circa S3. It'd just be wonderfully ironic if it were featured in the show. Heck, it could even work for a Syd or S/V angst scene. (By the way, the link above leads to a site where the formatting of the lyrics are a little off, and certain words are omitted, hence I just quoted the whole song for ease of any reader...)

*stares* hrlo, I gotta say; you've kinda freaked me out. I was searching for that song online last night, but I couldn't remember the title or the band name. Weeeeeird.

Great song, though *grins*.

Has Tom McRae been rec'ed before? I know that lots of people associate his "Kareoke Soul" with Sark, but I think that "End of the World" is also an awesome Sark song.

You wake up to the sound of alarms and your
Driving your fabulous car
Listening to the music that reminds you
You used to be young you used to be young

And now you're searching, for a sign with your name
To define you the king of the game
What will you do when there's nothing left
For you to earn and for you to learn

Chorus:
So dose me up once is not enough
I can still see the ground
And from this high rise view looking down on you
I'm not the one wasting my time

And every culture has it's own magazine
And information takes the place of your dreams
Finding ways to fill up the silence
But it's all that you need turn on your TV

Chorus

This is the end of the world news
This is the end of the world news sponsored by god

I've discovered the wonders of "Get A Move On" by Mr. Scruff. If anyone's ever heard the Mercedes-Benz commercial (not the mannequin one!) with the really jazzy, upbeat feel to it, this is probably the one. I can't find the lyrics and I can't bother myself to actually listen to the words because the music is just too cool. It's very S1-esque, like when Sydney parachuted into the party. The soundtrack of the Mercedes-Benz commercials came with my mom's Mercedes when we moved to Europe so I'm one happy camper, as it's now been declared Missing In Action but is hiding out in my room.

If Will comes back, I suggest (again) "Halfcrazy" by Musiq.

These Dashboard Confessional lyrics remind me of Syd:
Man, it takes a silly girl
To lie about the dreams she has.
But Lord, it takes a lonely one to wish
That she had never dreamt at all.
Can't remember the title of the song though....

Ooh! Dashboard Confessional! My friend's fave.
I like "Hands Down".
