Whoever played the plastic surgery Doctor on yesterdays (1/5) episode of CSI: Miami was like the poor mans version of Christian Troy... guy looked and behaved like him. Geez... I know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it was almost pure plagiarizing going on. Did anyone see it?

I was stuck in a hotel room on Saturday, sick as a dog, flicking channels and caught a movie on USA with Julian McMahon and Shannen Doherty. Don't know if this was before or during his time on Charmed, but he looked hot as hell and had some decent chemistry with her. Sigh. Made me wish for even a repeated run of the first season. When is that DVD coming out????

Sophia, I watched that same movie. It made me yearn for a weekly fix of Julian.
Edited to say that the movie was made in 2001 when they were both doing Charmed.

Kristin says
FX has already picked up the show, and though it isn't in production yet, you can look for it to debut in late spring or summer.
Goddamn it. I can't wait that long. Guess I'll have to continue fixing w/old Julian Charmed eps that are running on cable now. God, what a bad show - but when he's on I can't turn it off. Oh, and I did have him featured in last night's dream (bow chica bow bowm).

Nip/Tuck is starting to circle the globe. Its just finishing in Canada, mid season in Australia and will start in England next week (and apparently Ireland too although you have to wonder how much of it they'll be prepared to show there as its hardly what you would call a reverent show!).
Now its being advertised in South Africa -
http://www.mnet.co.za/mnetchannel/shows/di...Id=186&area=MNDwill soon be starting in Holland and has been picked up in Singapore, as well as one of the Scandinavian countries, I can't remember which.
I know things tend to move a bit faster these days, but its hardly finished its first run in America. Is this usual?

E! Online's
Golden Globes predictions are up. They picked
Nip/Tuck in two categories:
Best Series, Drama
the contenders
• 24
• CSI
• Nip/Tuck
• Six Feet Under
• The West Wing
we predict
Nip/Tuck: CSI is TV's highest-rated series, which makes it the 800-pound gorilla no one wants to champion. The West Wing has lost steam since Aaron Sorkin's departure. And Six Feet Under's lack of recent episodes makes it a distant memory. 24 could squeak by with its first win, but nothing thrills Globes voters more than beating Emmy voters to the punch on a freshman series. Last year, it was The Shield. And this year's big-buzz newcomer is another gritty F/X drama, Nip/Tuck. Though the majority of Globes viewers probably haven't seen a single episode, the press can't get enough of it, and that should give it the scalpel-sharp edge.
Best Actress, Drama
the contenders
• Jennifer Garner, Alias
• Allison Janney, The West Wing
• Amber Tamblyn, Joan of Arcadia
• Joely Richardson, Nip/Tuck
• Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under
we predict
Joely Richardson: Six Feet Under, Alias and The West Wing just don't have the buzz of yesterseason, which makes leading women Garner, Janney and Conroy unlikely candidates. Globes voters do have a tendency to award pretty young thangs in their first seasons--think Keri Russell and Garner--so Tamblyn stands a pretty good chance for her role on CBS' new freshman hit, Joan of Arcadia. But it's Richardson's rip-out-your-heart performance on Nip/Tuck that voters won't be able to deny.

Yeah! Couch Baron saw the pilot ep and liked it. Thus far two of the network execs liked it. Alas, it is still not recap worthy. :(
Inca Mummy Girl is Ara Celi (aka Celia, the girl Christian gave the botox shots to...NUT!G* girlfriend) She played Inca Mummy Girl in I believe Season 2 of Buffy. She kissed people, sucked their life to keep herself young and turned them into mummified bodies in the process.
ShutupCarl is of course our Dylan Walsh (aka Sean). He was on Everwood which our dear CB has had to painfully recap. Makes you wish you were back in Oz doesn't it CB?
*=Naked Ugly Tattoed Guy also known as Escobar

From thefutoncritic.com list of the 50 best TV episodes of 2003, Nip/Tuck grabbed 2 so far, (and, of course, one is the finale, you can see the entire link
HEREBut here are the choices for N/T:
17. "nip/tuck: adelle coffin" (fx)
originally aired: september 30, 2003
Suicide is also featured in this episode in which Sean's (Dylan Walsh) affair with a cancer patient (Julie Warner) comes to a head. I don't know about you folks but there wasn't a more heart-breaking, creepy and downright painful moment than when Warner's character says "I think I'm going to put the bag over my head now."
12. "nip/tuck: escobar gallardo" (fx)
originally aired: october 21, 2003
Almost an entire series' worth of plot threads came into play in this episode and all of them tied together in a beautiful swan song for the show's first season. Sure "Nip/Tuck" can be over the top, but damn if it isn't a compelling show to watch.
I am SO glad the picked the finale, easily the best episode and a great pay-off from the first season. Who knew Gallardo from the pilot episode will be so important for the entire arc? I was breathless after watching the finale.
'Adelle Coffin' was also a great one, dealing with the whole Affair/Cancer thing, so great choices of episodes here. Hope N/T wins all their emmy nominations

Spoilers about the new season from Kristin at E!Online:
But that's all carbonated water under the bridge, my friends, because it's Ryan who has the scoopy goods anyway. "There are two new characters," he dished to me. "We are going to meet Joely Richardson's mother, who's a complete bitch and a glamorous sort of woman who does not get along with her daughter. And then, when Julia hires a life coach, who is a 40-year-old contemporary, she ends up having an affair with Matt, who is 16. So, Julia's going to be freaked out by that."
Ryan also revealed that many faves from yesterseason (like Gina, Kimber and Escobar) are back when the show returns in June. And, finally, we learn the true identity of Matt's father in episode five. "It's not what anyone expects," Ryan hints. "It's going to be twisty, turny."

Yalie, I'm afraid you've missed the boat as far as the first run in the States is concerned as the season ended in October. Its currently being shown in the U.K. However, all is not lost because Season 1 reruns will start on FX on March 24, leading up to the premiere of Season 2 on June 22.
Couch Baron I was wondering if you watched the third episode and, if so, how it struck you.
Couch Baron
Feb 4, 2004 @ 6:44 am
I did watch the third episode. I enjoyed it, for the most part, although I saw the lesbian cheerleader thing coming from a mile away. However, the ending kind of disturbed me, although not the suicide per se. When the woman killed herself, I just was struck with the feeling that everything these guys touch turns to shit. The pedophile, the botched operation with the socialite, the twins freaking out post-op -- could these guys do anything right? With the show sending that message, iI wasn't finding it easy to get behind the two leads. But the fourth episode was a big turnaround in that area, especially for Sean, so I'm more encouraged now. I really do think it's a good show.

Just to say I'd agree with Couch Baron - although I find the show very very funny with some great one liners, its cynicism is occasionally astonishing. And it is hard to route for two people who seem to screw up everything they deal with, although admittedly that's pretty entertaining at times. I am really enjoying it though and was surprised to find myself actually supporting Sean instead of being irritated by him during episode 4. And I will say that even if they are idiots both Sean and Christian are very well drawn.
I must say though I am surprised that this wasn't a TWOP recap show - it has everything: utterly camp, good looking cast, great lines and some ridiculous plots, I would have thought it was crying out for the treatment.

Go back 30 pages and you will see that we were begging Demian or any of the higherups to take this show under its wing. It's that damn good and recap worthy but the TPTB said a firm "No".

Damn that's a shame I wonder why. I would have thought Demian in particular would have done a grand job. Oh well.
