Just based on everything I've seen in the Racer threads, I have a feeling Alison and Donny are going to be Team HATE.
mtvcdm
Jun 9, 2004 @ 5:07 pm
Bob/Joyce: Team ARF (Abort, Retry, Fail?)
Kami/Karli: Team Princess
Dennis/Erika: Team Jackass (naked skydiving, people. Where else do you go with this?)
Alison/Donny: Team Famewhore

I love the nickname team HATE. It's so harsh. All caps no less.
As for the twins... I'm sorry, they're individuals. Mary Kate and Karli. I nominate Emperor Penguin's team KiKi.
I see an On Golden Pond connection with Jim and Marsha since she will probably have to do backflips to gain her father's approval -- and fortunately she's a professional cheerleader so this is completely doable. So how about Team Old Poop.

Love the Team HATE idea. Stunt casting is a slippery slope, folks, and I'm sad to see this otherwise fine contest besmirched in such a way. Not that I know anything about Alison, or Big Brother in general. I just think it's a bad idea.
As for other team suggestions:
Chip/Kim: Team Kip, the Kippers
Brandon/Nicole: Team Blue Lagoon
Bob/Joyce: Team eHarmony.com
Okay, that last one wasn't so good. But give me a break, I don't have a whole lot to work with just yet.

Actually, I kinda like Team eHarmony.com, beepbeep. Who amongst us hasn't been subjected to ten million eHarmony commercials that make us instantly make the connection?
I also think we've definitely got a winner with Team HATE. Even never having seen BB or Alison before, just from the hate radiating from my computer screen I can tell that it's probably really, really accurate!

Jun 10, 2004 @ 7:51 am
I have to say I don't like Team HATE at all. (The nickname, not the team. I don't know whether or not I like the team yet.) Team nicknames should be based on what they do or what they're like, not how we feel about them (Heave notably excepted, because it's just too perfect w/ their name). Like maybe Team Embarrassment -- since wasn't it Donny that said that to her in the promo commercial?

Okay, I'm thinking maybe
Chip/Kim: Team FloGeorge, or Team ForeFlo?

I presume that Karen and Linda are predestined to be the "Bowling Moms." Probably not shaking that very easily. I'm inclined to suggest "16 minutes" for Alison and Donny, but it doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. "Team Famewhore" (tm mtvcdm) sounds a lot better, IMHO.

Jun 10, 2004 @ 11:56 am
I'll go with Team Famewhore. Also Team eHarmony.com. Pre-like for those nicknames, -- no, I mean, I like those nicknames. I'm getting so confused with the vernacular!

Jun 10, 2004 @ 1:10 pm
The Twins are Team Wakefield, because they're Jessica and Elizabeth.
Jim and Marsha are Team Brady.
Chip and Kim are Team Freak because of their interview.
Team HATE for Allison and Donny is great, but it needs a !.

Team eharmony.com definitely cracked me up. But, I don't think I can jump on any nickname bandwagon until I've seen them all race at least one leg.

Speaking of eharmony.com I just saw one of the commericals as I sit here typing on my computer. They can be annoying a little at times.

I dunno, recappers are a bit wary of brand names going into recaps in that fashion. How about (most of these will probably be horrible, but I'm just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if something sticks anyway):
*Team Emoticon
*Team Worm (if they pull underhanded crap, all the better)
*Team Hack
*Team Farked (if they get screwed over at some point)
*Team BS (for either the traditional BS if they're the aforementioned lying cheating team, but also Blue Screen of Death)

Marshall/Lance : Team Supreme
Red Targetter
Jun 11, 2004 @ 11:17 am
How about Team Meh? That about covers it for everyone...
Okay, I was only partly kidding. I think the best nicknames come from either the bizarre little unscripted things in an episode, or from other teams' comments; and the second best nicknames come from teams that have a strong identity going in (for example, Clowns).
However, some of the very best nicknames have come from either recaps or snarky remarks on the boards, so I have just blown my entire argument completely away, thus saving us all time and trouble.
It may be that they're all in the running for the coveted Team Meh nick, and time will tell who is this year's Who?
Edited to the tune of "Punctuation! Pun, pun pun punctuation!"

Jun 11, 2004 @ 11:22 am
Well, for me, when I first saw Marshall and Lance's photo at CBS, I thought "Oh, look, it's the Tweedles--Tweedleduh and Tweedledoof!"
But I agree that the best nicks usually are organic, not imposed.

Well, for Kami and Karli, my immediate thought was K2. This team has mountains to climb, people.

Or if we are wondering why they're still in the race, or even cast for that matter we can call them Team Y2K or Team Whine2K

In another thread, someone (hey! claim your tm!) used Kamarli for Kami/Karli (obviously). Simple. Elegant.

Yeah, we'll have to put our thinking caps on. Actually, for the bowling moms I was kind of thinking The Zompettes, but will have to see if the Z word shows up again for it to stick.

There's a lot of variations on Team HATE! that could be used. Almost too many.
Examples: Team WTF?!?, Team That Bitch?, Team Why?!?

Team Fonda, perhaps. Or maybe Butterfly Kisses, after the Bob Carlisle song.

Kami/Karli: Team Coors.

There's the recent ad campaign with the
"Coors Twins", aka Elaine and Diane Klimaszewski.
Mama Tiger
Jun 13, 2004 @ 6:16 pm
Oh, I guess I haven't seen that ad campaign. Maybe it's only regional (or maybe I don't watch the types of shows that have many beer ads?).

Ack! My eyes! Just No. I'm with Mama Tiger, I must not watch the types of shows where that ad is run, or I'm (gratefully) in a different market.

Aw, I really liked Kamarli! But I'm with MA in that I don't like the nicknames like JoKe or Kenny. But Kamarli has that great Momily quality to it.
Of course, the best nicknames do come out of what they do on the show.

Or what they don't do on the show: like David and Jeff the Team Who

I have to admit I'm all for Team Clone for the twins. I have the strange feeling I'm never going to be able to tell them apart.

I swear I didn't intend to use this, but when I was describing the teams to Mr. Blevins, I began describing Kami and Karli by saying, "So there's these Twinkies...."

Mmm, creamy filling! Twinkies works for me, too.
I was listening to the team interviews just now (rather than watching - not sure why) and Marsha just made a reference to one of the worst songs ever - "He's a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock'n roll." I thought for a second Donny and Marie? but then I thought naaaaaaaaah, too confusing and stupid. I think I just downgraded her in my standings on that joke alone.

Or
Team Osmonds, but that will be confusing, too, given the size of what's his name's* teeth because he looks like a blond Osmond but wouldn't be on Team Osmond.
* Crap, I'm getting all the models, actors, cheerleaders, beauty contestants confused already, but Brandon's who I'm thinking of, not that the other models, actors, cheerleaders (MACS?) don't have enormous teeth. I'm sure they do.

it's good to know that my alma mater has left the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference, (Pittsburgh remains in the Big East) so I'm not obligated to cheer for them in any way, shape, or form. So call them whatever you want!

If the twins happen to really suck, in the race and in personality, I'm going to have to go with Team KaKa.

I was going to suggest the same thing, JerseyExport. Team KaKa works on so many levels. And since I'm so unimaginative, that's about all I've come up with.
