It Does Not Follow
One year ago today, the TAR3 finale aired. Easily one of the more depressing reality episodes I've experienced, although after all I've seen in 2003, Flo isn't half bad by comparison.
It was more than just depressing. It was downright painful to watch! Would that this were an individual thing, I'd be cheering for Zach all the way to the bitter end. No, Flodinka, a few crunches on a city sidewalk corner aren't going to do much to change public opinion.
ClowingAround
Iti is depressing because there is no way after leg 12 that Flo deserved to win. Zach did however deserve it for putting up with Flo. The Bald Snark totally deserved it more than Flo.

We all know blah blah blah about where Flo is working and blah blah blah, but any news on what Zach's up to? How did he spend his money?
miri
He was working as a PA for MTV. Now he's working (I believe as a PA) on a documentary about one of the largest and longest running communes in the US.

There was an article in Sunday's Washington Post travel section, about finding a compatible traveling companion. They had a couple of paragraphs from an interview with Flo:

Florinka Pesenti, 2002 winner of TV's "Amazing Race," could have picked just about anyone to accompany her on the reality show's 33-day, 13-country trip. She initially says she chose Zach Behr, a college pal, because he could drive a stick shift.

But probe a little deeper and you'll find that Behr actually got the nod for personal qualities that are desirable in any travel companion. "He has a great sense of humor, is very optimistic, and can make fun of any situation."

Although Pesenti left her TV adventure considering Behr one of her her best friends, she says, "We had many fights. But we never let the argument take over the day. We fought; we cried, then we moved on. We would defuse [conflicts] by socializing, or Zach would go off by himself. We would take a time out."

She really is a bit oblivious isn't she? Sounds like she still doesn't realize that he was just a saint.
SVNBob
I swear I just saw Flo in a Starburst commercial. It's one with those 3 people that bob to the music, but this one's on the beach and involves a shark attack. "Flo"'s the 4th they recruit by giving her the Starburst. Anyone else seen this? Am I mad? (Don't answer that one...)
Lingo
I'll have to watch out for that. If Starburst actually had the ability to mellow people out like that, Flo could use two or three of them.
Lantern7
I saw it. Looked a lot like her. Can't get the whistling out of my skull now.

A whole truckload of Starburst couldn't mellow her out. No matter how hard she tries, she'll always be batshit crazy.
DariaG
Flo should be very grateful to Assaroma of The Apprentice. Assy is bad enough to make Flo look like a breath of fresh air. I am not exaggerating.
jadeddaisy
Now if we could only find an antidote to Ian, I might be able to watch season3 again.
Lingo
SVNBob, the big news about TAR5 hit us today, and coincidentally, I finally saw the StarBurst commercial tonight. I agree that the swimmer looked a lot like Flo, but I'm not quite convinced it's her.
LostinSpace

Actually, DariaG, with yesterday's bombshell, I'd say the best thing to happen to Flo is definitely Alison. If things go as I suspect, we'll be saying Flo-who? Ian-who? Wil-who? And Heave-who? by the end of TAR5.

NEVER....

You'll never say WHO about any one of us on TAR3
The Australian
Well certainly not if the casting continues in the same vein as it did for TAR4, Teri! Rest assured that there will always be those of us who curse the SpitefulTaxiOfPullingUpForTerianThenTakingStraightOffAgain!

It's been interesting reflecting recently on how one's opinions on TAR can differ over time. TAR1 was an absolute TV classic at the time of its first transmission, but watching it again reveals that it's really quite ropey in places.

The same applies to TAR3, and Flo. I remember something of a feeling of underwhelment (sic?) when the cast list first appeared because there seemed to be too many pretty young couples and not enough meat on their bones. Subsequently the casting for TAR3 has stood the test of time very well - particularly a dream final three full of warmth and comedy (Ken and Gerard), grit and determination (Ian and Teri), incredible patience (Zach) and total mortification (Flo).

TAR4's cast looked promising beforehand, but ultimately there was no real antagonists, no real sweethearts and therefore no real spark all the way through it. Say what you will about Flo (and many have!), you can put any episode of TAR3 on your television and be guaranteed entertainment because of her presence.

BUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRNNNN!
Venices Bitch
I wish Flo and Zach would write celebrity TAR recaps for Reality Reel this summer. Along with Aaron and Arianne, it would make a much better lineup than that crap they had last year. "Who" the fuck was that anyways?
It Does Not Follow
At least we won't get another annoying Wile AA Coyote pattycake.

Zach, OK. Flo? The LESS said by and about her, the better.
NovacScott
celebrity TAR recaps
So Chris, is Josh still up for three?

Oh hell yes. Once finals are over I'll have assloads of free time.

random note.. i HATED flo... Zach was cool though.. was dissapointing to see them win, simply bcoz Flo would get half the money!!!
Mia2bee
I saw Flo about two days ago right in the middle of Times Square. I guess she still works for Glamour because the Conde Nast building is right around the corner. After I recognized her, I thought that maybe I would 'bump' into her, so she could say something and I would reply, "Shut up Flo!"
sardonic

Horrifying thought: what if the two of them were to race together on an all-star edition? Would the team of Flomarosa cause Miss Alli to burst into flames? *shudders uncontrollably*
Eegah
Only if Rupert was also there. On topic, I still haven't made my peace with Flo winning. All the crap about how she's a great person when she's not stressed doesn't do anything for me.
Red Targetter
Why does it amuse me that this pair are relegated to page two of Previous Seasons? It just does.

I'm with you, I'll always suffer a twinge for Bald Snark not taking it all, particularly as they lost a lot of time in my old neighborhood, and I could have guided them directly down the hill from Kerry Park to the International Fountain and then to the cab stand in front of the Space Noodle.

Ahhh, the screech in my ears!

There's a funny pic of Flo over on the PC challenge. It brought back horrible memories. See it here: http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/in...ic=3117413&st=0

Oh my yes, that's Flo in full whine, isn't it? And as serendipity would have it, I've just been rereading Miss Alli's delightful recaps and am in the middle of TAR3, so this is a particularly appropriate time for a great whining Flo photo!

This weekend, I was cleaning up my stuff in preparation for moving house about a month from now, and I stumbled upon seven episodes of TAR3 that I'd recorded way back when.

Is it wrong that the cleaning went out the window and instead I watched about 5 hours of TAR???

You know, Terri and Ian didn't even annoy me so much anymore the second time 'round. But Flo? When she said she was going to quit the... oh... 8th or 9th time.... I SO wanted somebody from CBS to simply walk up and tell her that one more word about quitting and she'd be kicked out of the race.....

I'm glad I didn't have the final episode taped. I didn't even WANT to see her winning again!

I guess we're all gearing up for TAR 5, then, because that's exactly what I've been doing this past week. Revisionist history at work... I actually had forgotten some of the really horrid things Flo did (or didn't do, depending) that makes me think once again that Zach really, really should have gotten more than half of that prize money!
Shnap
Flo and her 'million dollar meltdowns' came in at number 27 on VH1's 40 greatest reality tv moments!!
Lantern7
And here I thought VH1 wouldn't give a spit about the Race. How did you find out? I'm recording the ep while I'm gone today.

*sigh* Somebody should've sent them tape of Bahstan passing TaraWil. Good times. As opposed to TARCon3, when I was openly questioning God's plan for us all.

Tiger Tim
As Chris used to Amanda in Ep 1 of TAR 4, calling a lazy, unwilling person (but not necessairly a woman) a "Flo" is something that can not only be applied in TAR, or in other reality shows, but in everyday life.

Flomarosa

ARGH!

Seriously, if Flo, Omarosa, Rupert, Alison, Trishel-
****struck down by lightning****
mallycat17
Looks like Flo and Drew are kaput

I was skeptical when I read this because I didn't realize Zach was so...bitter, I guess, at how she acted during the race (bitter isn't the word I want to use, but it's all I can think of.) Not that it surprises me, but I never heard him say anything bad and he always defended her actions.
Miss Alli
Truthfully, I think Zach's still being pretty kind to her.
Lingo
Gee, that's too bad. [/insincere]

Huh, and I thought I had heard about them moving in together recently, but I can't find a post to back me up on that.
pseudostudent
A production assistant when he was a contestant on Amazing Race 3, [Zach] is now an associate producer working for NBC and will be travelling to Greece soon to cover the Olympics.

Wow, good for him!

As for his own place in the annals of reality TV history, he provides this cheeky epitaph: 'I would like the fans to remember me as someone who was true to myself, who had fun, and... who had the patience of a saint.'

That's how I remember him, for sure.
macaddict
How cool for Zach! Is dragging 120 pounds of dead weight around the world an Olympic event? Because I can think of no one better qualified to provide expert commentary.
EvlTwin
...who had the patience of a saint.

I love that line! It's what most of us were saying and/or thinking at the time.
KonaKini
'I think that went out the window after we went on the show together. When I saw the way she handled the stress, and the way she treated me, I realised she wasn't the best woman for me.

I'm so happy that he feels this way. He's just such a sweetie. I agree that he's still being too nice.

Congrats on the promotion and heading to Greece. Good for you Zach.
mallycat17
He's far from being bitter I know, but that's the only word I could think of at the time when I put this in my earlier post. I do agree he's still being too nice, but I don't think Zach will ever go off on Flo unless something sets him off. He almost sounds like he wants to say more but is biting his tongue.

Lingo, I'm pretty sure Drew moved to NY and in with Flo, right after the show aired. I think Ian is the one who said that.
LawDog

I'd love to see Flo doing commentary from the field during the hammer toss or javelin. As in from where said objects are hurled.

Seriously though, how hard would it be for her to just say, "Oh my God, I'm so embarassed about how I treated Zach and how I was such a big baby!" People love a repented sinner. That she just shrugs it all off with a "no one calls me a bitch to my face" shows that she really didn't learn anything at all.

I dunno, macaddict. She seemed to lose weight during the race -- I figure she was about 110 or so by the end of it.

That she just shrugs it all off with a "no one calls me a bitch to my face" shows that she really didn't learn anything at all.
Yup.
Rachel RSL
**makes mental note to walk up to Flo at the next TARcon and say in her most chipper voice: "Hi bitch!"**
Lingo
Macaddict's post reminded me of something I read yesterday. It's not an Olympic sport yet, but it's tailor-made for Zach!
MichaelaRae
Rachel RSL If you did this, you would be guaranteed free drinks for eternity whenever I am nearby. Hee.
Nutjob
Honestly, Flo and Drew lasted a lot longer than I thought they would. I hope his next gf is nice, quiet, supportive, and sane.
TheAnglican
I think I remember it coming out before that Zach had invested his money according to Gerard's advice, but that part of the article reminded me again how sweet it was that the Season 3 teams generally got along and still kept in contact with each other after the race. Season 3 is still my favorite despite the fact that Flo got $500,00 out of it.
