In the February issue of
YM with Mandy Moore on the cover, they do a comparison of former Idol finalists and their chances at becoming successful in the future. Here's Carmen's bit:
The 18-year-old Bringham Young student isn't out of the business yet. She's the spokesperson for an acne campaign called Lose the Zits. Well, it's got to help pay the tuition bills.
Success Potential: 1 She should stick to studying.
And I thought us teens were supposed to be her target demographic! Hee. To put this in perspective, her "success potential" is lower than Jim Verraros'. "Easy" Jim, people.

An acne CAMPAIGN? That makes so little sense. I've been trying to treat mine for years but with no luck. What's next, a "Let's Stop Heredity!" campaign?

I'd settle for a "Let's Stop Carmen's Heredity" campaign...
Edited to correct that "Heredity" is not spelled "Hertitty"...

Let's stop her altogether, not just her titty. Hee!

*gasp* You didn't read Carmen's scintillating interview on USA Today? There's a link to it earlier in this thread. Her advice was to: "If you have acne, make an appointment to go see a dermatologist! If it's really bad, you can get accutane, like me!"
Bruin4Ever
Jan 6, 2004 @ 11:14 am
Hmmm...one of the side effects of Accutane is mental problems. I wonder how long she's been taking the stuff.
What?
TheCustomOfLife
Jan 6, 2004 @ 1:49 pm
I went just last month and they only want me on Accutane as a last resort. With Carmen's bubbleheaded vapidity (vapidity? vapidness?), she's probably taken the pills long before AI2. I mean, thinking she could WIN? There's a line between confidence and mental imbalance.

Up from #65 this week, Pride and Predjudice ranks #58 this week, with $157,616 to date. Still playing on only four screens.
However, the movie made about $4,000 more than it did last week. Evil is gathering it's forces.

The hell you say? What brain damaged people are going to see this tripe?
Kylenn

Carmen's friends and relatives. As for the non-brain damaged viewers, I couldn't guess.

Carmen's relatives must be the same kind of people who saw Titanic 985 times.

Never let go...never let go...
Acne has been existing since the history of forevah, and Carmen's going to be the one to help eradicate it? Geez. She's too young to be blowing all her opportunities for a career like this. I guess this shows how much stock she puts in her singing talent - she's spending all of her time in the mighty War on Zits.

She wants to be the next Kristin Kreuk. Snerk.

Maybe Carmen's developing a way for zits to have audible hear capacities of the human frequency and yodel them into extinction. It's working for human beings (is it really just a coincidence that sperm count has dropped in the past fifteen years, which would be about the time Carmen developed the ability to talk/sing/cause others to bleed from the ears?)

So I asked for and received the AI Love Songs CD for Christmas (What? 19Evil owns me) and I had to put it on tape to listen to it in the car. I'm listening to it the other day for the first time and when it got to Carmen's song the tape auto-flipped to the other side. I couldn't get it to stay on the side AI was on so I had to fast forward it.
Even my car thinks Carmen eats babies.

I was watching the Buffy episode "Band Candy", and Willow said, "Lurconis eats babies". Needless to say, I thought of our little goat and cracked up.

Hey!! I love Carmen!! Carmen's #1!!! Go Carmen!!! Rasmusen All The Way!!! All The Way!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I just had to get that out of my system.
I listened to her song, Be With You, yesterday, from the "indie movie" Pride and Prejudice. BTW, since when did indie film-makers start making bubbleyum teen flicks?
The song is actually pretty good and her voice is not as overly processed as it was on How Do I Live from the AI Love Songs CD, when she sounded like she was singing to us from the other end of an extremely long and wooden hollowed-out pipe. There is this one crazy part at the end of Be With You, when she tries to hold a note, and we all know to what disastruous effects that resulted in during the show... Anyway, it's clear how the song engineers tried to mask the vibratto by doing this weird echo layering effect on her voice. Thuper funny!

Did you actually buy the album?

I burned two of her AI performances on an mp3 CD of mine, but it's purely for comic relief. And for the times I feel especially cruel and want my ears to bleed on demand.

For those who were wondering, an independent film is a film not produced or distributed by a major company, like Columbia/Tri-Star, Paramount, Universal, Sony, Walt Disney/Buena Vista, Dreamworks SKG, etc. A film does not need to be art-y in anyway, like Pride and Predjudice for example, to be an independent picture.
By the way, Pride and Predjudiced came in at "who the hell cares" in four too many theatres with a gross box office take of "why couldn't these people spend their money on something good and useful - like waffles or plaster of paris?"
TheCustomOfLife
Jan 17, 2004 @ 3:31 pm
I'm so glad that those four theaters are probably at least 2,000 miles away from me. Far enough away for no serious harm to be done.

Ah, Carmen. A year after you came into our lives you are still inspiring others to hate you. I have to salute Carmen. While other reality show contestants get stuck with boring nicknames like "Jonny Fairplay" or "Mike Boogie," Carmen is known as "Wholesome Whoreclown." What other reality show contestant has been accused so often of cannibalism, of babies no less? What other reality show contestant is suspected of being a farmyard animal? And what other reality show contestant has inspired conspiracy theories involving a sex-magick cult led by Nigel Lythgoe, the purpose of which is to free a Lovecraftian demon from its prison?
No one else. People, you should respect Carmen, because I do not think her like will come again. OK, that's probably a good thing, but still.

Hmm.
Nope.
(Okay, fine, I will admit that she is "special". But I think we should be thanking our fellow TWoPers, not Carmen.)

Jan 23, 2004 @ 12:05 pm
All right, so respect was a little strong. But definitely, for a person who had little to no personality beyond being blond, young, and Mormon and whose main claim to fame was singing badly for two minutes a week, she provided a boatload of the hate. I just wanted to thank her for being so very hatable, I guess.
Blake
Jan 23, 2004 @ 12:09 pm
Okay, I'll go along with that.
Thank you, Carmen, for being such great HATE fodder, and for not actually becoming successful. Because then I will cry.
Of course, once she was gone we just switched on over to Josh. I like to think that even without Carmen, we would've found someone.

kingdead there is a young lady this season I'd like you to meet. Her name is Kiira. As

If she rode in on a scooter, she would've had a prop for her dancing.
