Now, quick question. Is Mr. Man (and all the Mr. Men) a sloth Xindi or a monkey Xindi? I'm a fair mite confused.

Editied to add that he realized that this post has not been posted to in nearly 3 months.
the47thman
I believe they're all monkey Xindi.
nelamm
The word used for Mr. Men is "primate." The hairy guys are called "arboreal."

Is Mr. Man the weapon designer or the council member?
tothemax
Is Mr. Man the weapon designer or the council member?

Both.
keckler
Not necessarily. While he's been present at council meetings -- ostensibly to give a weapon report -- I'm not sure if he's a member. Not if you consider the way he refers to the Council in "Stratagem."
nelamm
Ah. I was wondering what to call the Primate Xindi who actually sits on the council.
Cleo256
Call him Tucker Smallwood, a definite HITG of sci-fi. Particularly the emotionally-scarring X-Files episode "Home".

Mind the mild spoilers in the IMDB link. It tells the names of some upcoming episodes where he's expected to appear.

I think keckler has referred to both Degra and Tucker as Mr. Man in different recaps.
keckler
I have referred to all primate Xindi by that. I have usually referred to all species by their generalized names that I came up with when I first saw them all and they didn't have actual names.
Cleo256
Yeah, Mr. Man and his Mr. Men. Hee.

I wish the writers had established Degra better sooner. I don't think he even had a name until "Shipment", and I barely remembered him until "Proving Ground" reminded me that he was important.
keckler
He did have a name in "Shipment" but it was easy to miss since it wasn't always clear whether it referred to him or Snake Eyes.

I'm starting to really like Degra. There's just something very likable about the actor- he's sympathetic or something.

His discomfort around Trip, for example, was perfectly played. I liked that he didn't try to actually talk to Trip, but that his emotions about the situation were clear anyway.
akg
I agree. I liked his pause when leaving the meeting with T'Pol, Trip, and Archer right after Trip lost it. You could tell Degra really wanted to say something to Trip to try to make things better but knew there was nothing that could possibly help.

From the "Zero Hour" Thread:
They made it clear (heh, Cleo) that the Reptilians and Insectoids destroyed the planet.

Huh. I hadn't remembered that. Did they say the Avians' extinction was due to warring? I was thinking it might also be due to biotechnology getting out of hand (a bioengineered virus that mutated or something) or bad side effects of technology in general. Like global warming or ice ages (a la Day After Tomorrow).
Were they ever specific about the circumstances surrounding the "destruction" of thier homeworld (a blown up planet or just a dead rock or what?) and the extinction of the Avians? Do the two have a direct connection? Questions, questions... and no more answers, most like.

ETA: Never mind. Answered by the all-knowing Cleo on the "Zero" Thread:
When the Reptilian and Insectoids destroyed the planet, they hadn't meant to. They just got overanxious about ending the war. The extinction of the Avians and the destruction of the Xindi world was an accidental by-product.

Apologies for jumping the gun (or the Nazi, heh)...
Cleo256
If by "all-knowing" you mean "one of the few who wasn't totally bored silly by the really very boring 'Shipment' ", then I agree:

"But everyone remembered what ended it," Mr. Mugato says.  Snake Eyes and Bug Eyes detonated massive explosions in unstable seismic fissures, which destroyed the whole planet...Mr. Mugato would like to think they didn't realize how devastating it would all be. How could they not?

and
Mr. Mugato says that as far as he's been told -- which either means he wasn't alive when their homeworld was destroyed, or he was out of the galaxy at the time -- none of the Avians fled before the planetary destruction.
keckler
Hee. Thanks for doing my homework for me, Cleo. I was going to look those passages up to research the current recap.
cuiusquemodi
In case anyone's interested, according to the Wikipedia, the black Mr. Man who was with Degra (any HoYay implied is unintentional) is called Mallora. Here is a list of all known (to them) Xindi.
keckler
Is he related to Bashir's girlfriend with the pearls in her hair?
cuiusquemodi
Couldn't tell you. Once more, Ms. Keckler, you have outstripped my knowledge triviorum.
SunlessNick
I'm over a year behind you guys (two eps into season 3), so I have no comment relevent to anything you're going to find interesting to talk about. But, having now seen what the various kinds of Xindi look like, I think the reptilian ones look awesome.
