Given that they announced the Legion stuff at Comic Con, with no mention of Kara until now, IF she is in the ninth episode I can't imagine she'll be the focus.

Oh well. I'll take what I can get. At least they're wrapping up her storyline, and not just leaving her trapped in the Phantom Zone.

The LoS could the ones to save Kara, then she goes off with them giving the character a nice closure.

Kara going into the future with the Legion really is the nicest ending I can think of. And it has canon support! And the producers LOVE that.
Eurybia
And it has canon support! And the producers LOVE that.
It's ICONIC! Hehe.

I am so, so glad that LV is returning. Not only because I think the storyline needed closure, but because I like Kara a lot more than I thought I would, and a lot more than I should, really, when you consider how they mismanaged her storyline. Half of me hopes that she'll go with the LoSH, but half of me hopes that she gets her own Kara-centric episode, to deal with her release/rescue and what she is going off to do.

But I really do think she's going to go with the LoSH, because it neatly solves the mystery of why Supergirl doesn't show up on the scene before Superman in this timeline.

Given that they announced the Legion stuff at Comic Con, with no mention of Kara until know, IF she is in the ninth episode I can't imagine she'll be the focus.
They may have just negotiated the deal with the LoSH and Geoff Johns, and have only recently gotten to writing it. Maybe?

Plus I thought it was really lame to kill Brainiac with the same exact thing that he (Brainiac) uses to power himself up!
I don't think he's really dead. I think he was baiting Clark to get him to "kill" him, and released Chloe and Lana because he got what he wanted in the first place: Lex was primed to destroy the FoS and Clark, as Kariac had manipulated him to do. It was a strategic withdrawal, IMO, and barring money concerns, I totally expect him to return (didn't James Marsters say he's supposed to come back?).
jwm

Whether it was a strategic withdraw or not now that it's been established Brainiac can reconstitute himself from dust it seems doubtful Clark could ever truly destroy him, IMO. Especially with a method as primitive as electric shock.
Nat0117
Okay, seriously, where are the S8 promos? Can't we just have fucking ONE?! If I have to listen to that "Nananananananana" OTH bullshit one more time, I'll fucking flip out. I don't mind the GG stuff, as it's actually sort of okay, but that whiny OTH promo, CHRIST. Who's even watching OTH? Besides me, I mean.
EllyF
Who's even watching OTH? Besides me, I mean.

*Raises hand shyly* But it's all in the interest of bonding with my daughter. I swear. And if Lucas is talking to Lindsey (and he probably is), my TV won't survive till Smallville's premiere to be tossed out the window.

I agree, where the heck are the SV promos? Admittedly GG and 90210 start a couple of weeks earlier-- but they were advertising them a MONTH ago, if not more. And why push OTH so much? Again, it premieres earlier, but again, I've been seeing promos for at least a month. It's not exactly a brand-spankin'-new show. Is it all a matter of the demographic they want?
quietone
Is it all a matter of the demographic they want?

Apparently young girls and women cannot possibly be interested in sci-fi/fantasy drama. </sarcasm>

It's appalling how little marketing is being done for Smallville and Supernatural. IMO, it doesn't matter if the shows aren't new or hip or don't fall into a specific demographic. It's still on your network and should be promoted. *shakes fist at CW execs*
Nat0117
And if Lucas is talking to Lindsey (and he probably is), my TV won't survive till Smallville's premiere to be tossed out the window.

Dude, I totally think he's talking to his mom about she and Andy. The Chad says that he has two tickets to Vegas, then, "Do you want to get married tonight?" He never really puts himself into the equation by offering his "extra" ticket, or asking if the person wants to marry him. Just my spec. Not like I watch the show that much. Or have it programmed into my DVR.

Anyway, I get that SV and SPN are going to get the ratings with or without heavy promotion, but we're less than a month from the premiere and there's just nothing. I mean, really, how much does it cost to throw together a few shots from the premiere ep? And yeah, I was a 21/F (the latter hasn't changed ;) when I started watching SV and I had no stake in the Superman story at all...I started watching because I flipped by and was mesmerized by The Pretty. Stupid Dawn.
Bkwurm
Who's even watching OTH? Besides me, I mean.

I used to watch, but got sick of wanting to drop kick Nathan and Brooke and they killed KEITH! SO NOT FAIR. So I officially don't watch but somehow still manage usually to keep track of what's going on.

And yeah, I was a 21/F (the latter hasn't changed ;) when I started watching SV and I had no stake in the Superman story at all...I started watching because I flipped by and was mesmerized by The Pretty. Stupid Dawn.

Yeah, the pretty lured me in too. I had initially chose NOT to watch it because how could it do anything but end badly if LL wasn't even in the equation? But the pretty boys and their smiles made me watch, hypnotism I tell you, probably brainwashing 'cause I'm still here and I would happily drop kick LL.
Eurybia
But the pretty boys and their smiles made me watch
IMO, Smallville has one of the most all-around attractive casts out there. Pretty much everyone is really, ridiculously good looking. For the CW not to at least try to capitalize on that when they're network is geared toward teen girls and the stereotypes of what they want is pretty freakin' stupid. I can almost understand it when it comes to Supernatural, because that show is not about romance and relationships and thus doesn't fit the target, but SV totally is. It's a freakin' soap opera with aliens.

And of course, in reality, I am bitter because they think that girls/women of that age can't like sci-fi/fantasy/urban fantasy. Which is stupid. Talk about reinforcing stereotypes. Good job, Dawn.
EllyF

Which is foolish, because a very popular subgenre in romance novels and young adult novels right now (many of which are read by that very same demographic) is paranormal/urban fantasy. Have these people ever heard of Stephanie Meyer?
Eurybia
Have these people ever heard of Stephanie Meyer?
Apparently not, or they'd be pushing SV (which reminds me of the Twilight series in certain ways, actually) a lot harder. Paranormal/urban fantasy romance is SO ridiculously hot right now in YA novels, just as popular, if not more popular, than the Gossip Girl series (which they have heard of).
Teen Titan

Except they lost their Kristen Stewart.

FAIL losers.

And the lack of consequences for certain MCs and (more than anything) the "sexual assault and manipulation made me realize my love for you!" a la "Crimson" in Eclipse.

Twilight and I have issues.

Ausiello spoiler reports are real spoilers, I guess...

In no way do I think that this has ever been suggested. We are constantly hit over the head with Jimmy's insecure comments and reminders of Chloe's feelings for Clark. They've been coming all along, even at the end of S7. I agree that they're taking it a bit far *deleted for spoiler* , but I personally feel that it's fairly obvious that this is a doomed relationship. Clark is the only man that Chloe will ever love and she's eternally and desperately tied to him until death parts her from him. I think that this is being spoiled for S8 and I think it's been foreshadowed in previous seasons. Whether Clark will fully return those feelings is the variable that will dictate how her story ends.

I really meant more so in the interviews where they pimp Chimmy as so wonderful and great, Nat.. As for the part on eternally and desperately tied to him untel death parts her from him: this scares me because I wouldn't put it past them to play around with killing Chloe for many seasons and not making it stick, and then killing her off for real when it really counts-at the end. I could see it.

As for any feelings that Clark may or may not have, and the resurgence of The Document: I don't need reminders of how Chloe feels for Clark. What I want to know is if anything of substance comes out of this on Clark's side. If it doesn't, then all it will turn out to be is torture for me as a Chloe fan.
Teen Titan
The comic book store down the road had a sale on back issues. Half price. So I picked up the issues that introduce Maxima.

She's supposed to be 6'2. Now I know finding an appropriate actress that's 6'2 wouldn't be easy, but the actress they've cast is only 5'8. They couldn't have found someone a little taller? Who's a ready head? And a little more built?

Also, I'm more familiar with the idea of Maxima as a hero. In her first appearances she was an out and out villain! I'm talking killing people, destruction, the whole bit.
Nat0117
Wow. Tomorrow marks three weeks until the premiere and still no new publicity shots, no episode stills, nothing. Hats off, CW. Assholes.
EllyF
And no trailer, right? We still have no freakin' trailer, do we?
Nat0117
And no trailer, right? We still have no freakin' trailer, do we?

Nope. Nothing. Just that same stupid shot of Clois from "Apocalypse." Although I seem to have caught a few promos for some new show with a lot of numbers in the title. Can't quite recall the name of the project though. I'll tune in to the CW tonight and be sure to catch the ad roughly 286,000 times and get back to you tomorrow.

What strikes me about the PS3 Collider interview is that they claim that DC sees every script. Gives tips, direction. So...they're cool with how the character of iLL is depicted on Smallville? That's extremely puzzling to me. Also, I love that they're pushing for more seasons. Do they have the contract on TW's soul or something?
EllyF
Although I seem to have caught a few promos for some new show with a lot of numbers in the title.

Yes, as far as I can tell, the CW has exactly four shows lined up this season: the number show, Gossip Girl, Privileged, and One Tree Hill. I'm not sure how a network survives with only four shows, but whatever. If they have any others, they're certainly keeping them a deep, dark secret.

Jerks.
Tobi
I have caught reruns of Everybody Hates Chris over the summer and I was almost peeing myself laughing. Similarly, as a Supernatural fan (great show like anti-SV), I am pissed that they basically are pretending it doesn't exist. We get it! The number show is coming back and it's apparently 1990 again, yay!

Um, now, what about your two HIGHEST RATED scripted dramas, you idiots.

Also, I fear that TW is pretty but not bright or has a bad lawyer. He must have contract with the worst fine print in human history if S3P think they have him locked into a season nine or ten. Ugh, how about these idiots focus on making a solid, coherent season with only a few plotholes and no drastic retcons or OOC behavior. I'm not even hoping for good anymore (that sailed about the time Zod ended). However, how about one that makes some sense and that is NOT a mix of commercials for gum/pimping EVERY DCU character under the sun for a spinoff. If you can do that, then maybe we can talk. Big maybe.
CantThinkUpName
Nope. Nothing. Just that same stupid shot of Clois from "Apocalypse."
I'm beginning to think that episode existed solely for that shot. It was one of the final four episodes (which should have been used to further Lex's story), it added nothing (IMO) to the characters, and if that was how they wanted to show Clark Kent on Fucking Krypton with Baby Kal, it was better left undone. But God almighty how they love that stupid shot.
Nat0117
But God almighty how they love that stupid shot.

Yep. And just to be picky, it's not even an aesthetically pleasing shot. I admit, I loathe Nois, but there's no denying that ED is attractive. Yet here you have Nois in a cheap, black suit (she may have been bumped out, but NO ONE can rock a powersuit like Ms. Sullivan) with a messy, unflattering ponytail being held by Clark in his equally ugly uniform and bad haircut. Ew.
jwm
What strikes me about the PS3 Collider interview is that they claim that DC sees every script.
I'm struck by how so excited they are about the show. It's almost as if running SV is like a living wet dream. The level of enthusiasm is almost enough to get me excited about it.

But I had to laugh at this (emphasis mine).
Clark’s an attractive guy, let’s be honest. Tess Mercier is an attractive woman and so is Erica and those feelings will collide.
Didn't KK get enough of that from Goughlar? Poor Erica.
quietone
Lo and behold DTS has episode stills from Odyssey
Nat0117
Finally! Thanks, quietone.

Wow. I sure don't love Clark lately, but that is one hot looking amnesiac.

I *LOVE* Tess' creepy look! It's perfect! Damn you, show, for hiding these for so long.
pyralis
I see this episode is ramping up the visual hoyay. And IA Nat TW is looking hot in those pictures.

KSite has listed the CW's new official description, which I believe is not considered a spoiler here. Pretty much confirms the same old, same old, with a wee bit more expansion on Chloe changing her focus:

With a new fiancé and puzzling new abilities that intrigue her as much as they frighten her, Chloe decides to turn her attention toward helping others. She takes over where Lana left off and reopens the Isis Foundation to provide counseling for those with meteor-powered abilities.

It confirms that Tess has oversight of the Daily Planet, so yes, our hero IS choosing to work for the CEO of LuthorCorp. There better be a good reason!

Also, it says the season begins "a few weeks" after the last one, so presumably months have not passed.
Teen Titan
They've released them! They look great but (I know I shouldn't complain)...

They've hyped the hell out of the Justice League appearing and not one still of Oliver in costume or Black Canary and Aquaman? What a waste.

Great pictures of Tess though. Cassidy Freeman is an amazingly striking woman.
CantThinkUpName

I find this interesting since I think I remember Craig saying how the Mother Theresa quote only fit for Instinct. And none of the other information we have say anything about her either helping other people or discovering new powers.

But IIRC, some of the press releases in the past made a single episode plotline sound like an actual story arc so this might be no different.

ETA: I do like how CF looks. From those stills she seems to have a creepy obsessed intensity (no pun intended) about her. I really hope she has confidence and doesn't need to "find" her inner strength.
Eurybia

Seriously.

I *LOVE* Tess' creepy look! It's perfect!
ITA! She is so striking. And I swear, she looks 100% Luthor. She has to be some secret sister or Luthor clone or something.

It's kind of sad that I'm most excited about the two new characters.

Where is this from? I did not see it on the description on Ksite, unless I'm reading the wrong thing.

Pics: TW looks great, but Hartley is looking as pretty as ever!
Independent
You know what? I just want a testosterone-laden show with Hartley and Welling standing around looking gorgeous. Forget the convoluted plots and contrived ships. Every once in awhile, they could invite the Winchester brothers over for a beer. Justice League guys could wander in now and again. Now there's a show!

Also, who would have thought TW would look so pretty in grey?
jimmy4
in grey?

Now I hope they stick with him wearing other colors! I hate the horrid Red/Blue combination he has like in every episode. He sure does look pretty.
Teen Titan
Welling is definitely bringing the pretty. I like the shorter hair.

I don't mind them giving Chloe an additional aspect to her power, as long as they KEEP her original power unchanged.

I just love it so much, and it's so perfect for her. Not to mention the inherent dramatic potential they've barely mined.

I'm fixated on the idea of Chloe healing Clark, not knowing if she'll survive, but doing it anyway.

I love this picture. It's already my desktop. Have we seen the henchman in the background before?

I think I vaguely remember him in a scene with Lex before? But then he's one of those Canadian actors that seems to pop up a lot in shows, so maybe his face is just familiar from that.

What a great description. She really does look like a Luthor. If she isn't a clone, I will be very disappointed.

This...is exactly the sort of light-switch-y horseshit I was dreading.

Eh. We knew the change was coming. Yeah, it's not the most preferable direction--I like Reporter!Chloe best myself--but there's going to be some good stuff with the healing as it relates to Bloome and to Clark. I find that I'm sort of determined to enjoy this season.
Teen Titan
I'm psyched about this season. I'm already feeling like Tess is going to be my new favourite character. Unless they rip me off on the super power.

He was in a couple of eppies with Lex. Most recently in the plane going to the Arctic.

Ah. I really like this continuity. That a minion of Lex's becomes a minion of Tess.
Scry
Have we seen the henchman in the background before?

Ari Cohen. I thought I saw him in the Comic-Con trailer. Guess I was right. :)

I'm so glad for the continuity! His as-of-now unnamed character first appeared in Sleeper, and again in both Quest and Arctic. He apparently replaced Gina after her untimely demise.

So, Lex's two assistants working together. Neat. I wonder who plays Kat.
Teen Titan
From the Odyssey description:

Clark has been stripped of his powers by Jor-El.

This sounds familiair. A Kryptonian punishing their offspring by removing their powers and memories. If only I could remember where I had seen this before...

I at least appreciate the continuity.
apeygirl

Not to mention that lascivious bit about Lois in a french maid uniform and how it's "always a crowd pleaser." That's just so denigrating. So she's the new real doll now? I feel kind of bad for her. I actually felt bad for her early last season when she was pimping the show and you could see the sort of pinched expression on her face when she talked about Grant Gabriel. I think ED does want to be taken seriously, really, and might herself be tired of Lois' dumbshit antics and boob shots.

Edited to fix the quote from TIIC. "Always a crowd pleaser" actually offend me more than "always a pleasure." Bastards.
Eurybia

IA. And she was the one who actually said that her character should, y'know, mention her dead ex-boyfriend/boss' random disappearance. So if she was in charge of her character, we might not have gotten GroisGate, Woodhard & Boobstein, or the french maid costume.

Poor Erica. It must suck to be the new real doll.
apeygirl

I think it's even worse for her than for KK. They went on about how beautiful she was, but never really took it to too much of a sexy place (she didn't have much of a womanly figure for them to work with, so they really couldn't go boob shot on her). They kind of bathed her in ethereal light and didn't really make leering comments. I don't see them doing that for ED. I'm fearing more tight leather, more bikinis, lots of obnoxious cleavage shots and lots of dirty quotes about how fun it is to get her into skimpy outfits.

I don't know. I keep remembering articles about her from her beginnings in SV where it was stated that she said she didn't mind showing her body and was very at ease with nudity as opposed to KK who's always been shy and refused to show too much.

So maybe she didn't want it to go that far but we never hear her complain about it or stating limits. If she doesn't want the camera or Jimmy to watch her boobs, I'm sure she has something to say about her clothes. I think KK would never have allowed such a shot.

So IMO, she's partly responsible for the objectification of her character even if she begins to be inconfortable with it because she seems to have been using it before to get attention.
Nat0117
I guess I will tune in to the season premiere just to see AM on second position in the credits

Yeah, you know we haven't really revisited this in a while. What are you guys thinking about the credit line-up?
    1. TW
    2. AM
    3. ED
    4. AA
    5. SW
    6. CF
    7. and JH as GA

Well on her defense we need to remember that she has to say whatever is needed to appeal to the fanbase Nois as a character doesn't has lot of going on for herself except the name and the cheap plots they use to have her looking sexy so even if she at the begining said that she was comfortable showing her body I'm sure she didn't though it was going to be her character trademark.

Also if she ever dared to look online what her character is regarded as she probably doesn't think is so good either at this point.
