I guess this is where I take this, since the other thread is about to be closed.
And "Chloe's dead" is pretty hard to buy now, too, thanks to the writers resurrecting her twice over the past season. How do we know she's really dead? How do we know she won't come back to life at some point?
I've been thinking about this too. How can Clark ever really believe that Chloe is dead? No matter the circumstances. She's been dead twice before, and come back to life. So I can't imagine Clark letting Chloe be buried. No matter how dead she seemed. He'd always be wondering if she was going to wake up.
So I could see Oliver keeping 'dead' Chloe somewhere, fitted with alarms, or under observation or whatever, so that if she were to wake up, they would be alerted. This way, you can have Chloe offscreen, and if they can get her back for a guest appearance, bam, she wakes up.
I'm really torn, because on the one hand I don't want Chloe gone. But on the other, as someone has already said, I don't think I can handle a season of Chloe watching Clark and her cousin moon over each other, while Clark takes a job at the Planet AND makes eyes at the new villain!
But as much as that sucks, I'm almost more upset by the idea that Kara won't be around next season. We barely got to know her! And Laura Vandervoort doesn't deserve it. I feel like they've gotten me all invested in Kara, and now they're going to yank her away. At least I had seven seasons of Chloe.
And the worst bit is, its so out of nowhere. It never occurred me that Kara wouldn't be a part of season 8. Man, when I said you could do without a cast member next season I was talking about JIMMY!
And how do you explain Kara's absence? Kill her? Leaving her stuck in the Phantom Zone just makes Clark seem like a massive douche.
Gah.
Damn you
Smallville. I was all excited for season eight, and in the space of a day you've managed to ruin all the good will and benefit of the doubt I was giving you.
ETA: This is heartening:
well, let's ask the CW: "We are in talks with her," responds a network rep. "Hopefully she will return next season."
But still, I'd rather see her back for a few episodes to wrap up her arc rather than a full season, unless they're going to play a Clark and Chloe romance, however brief.
Can someone please find me information on what's going on with Laura Vandervoort next season? Why doesn't someone ask The CW about her name not being on the list? I guess I'm probably the only one who cares.
