And leave him sitting in a bathtub full of ice in a hotel room.

I really want to see Lex and Clark get closer again so that the Rift can come in season 5 from a stronger impetus than just drifting apart and Clark continually lying to Lex.

They kept saying Lois Lane in season 4. So I want to see that Chloe disappeared over the summer because with Lex incapacitated and Clark MIA again she was vulnerable to the MB's retribution. Then I want her to show up at the end of the season premiere with her new dark hair and using that whole new identity. Maybe she's had all her paperwork forged and is no longer a high school student but is believed to be an adult and hooks up with Lex.

And Lana? Can stay in Paris for senior year so that when she inevitably visits on holidays we can see that she's outgrown both the color and mentality of the Pink. Then she can move to Witchita and marry Pete.
rebelqueen
seeing as how everyone has already pretty much covered what I wanted to say, only said it way better about their hope for Season 4,I am just going to cheat and back up what AOT said in her interview- Please goddess, Martha is a smart woman-Get her out of the kitchen, swooning over the dishes and into the real world-give her a job- Heck, even if it's part time, so we can see her being all smart and brillant and kicking-Give her back her brain please- and if what AOT says is true and she gets to spend quality with Lionel-that frelling rocks for me, since they have blurry good chemistry and it allows her some range.

More Chloe please- they got rid of Pete- it should give her more plotspace(not much since well they were not wasting many lines on poor Pete) and she has a purpose now- I'd rather her not cower, but roar and be confrontational with whomever is trying to attack her. Empowered Chloe rocks(even if she haves to give up her pretty hair for it and start looking all Goth)

Also, let the next season ender be one where Lex is not in mortal danger and let the next season follow what people are saying in terms of the Lex/Clark friendship and may the Peepex stay the same as it is(since I too am rather happy with it)
mobiusklein
Wish list

1. Better use of supporting characters aka Chloe, Kent & heck, Gabe.
2. I'd love to hear something about Chloe's mom
3. no more FOTWs stalking Lana. Have them attack the sheriff or the mayor
4. No Lexana
5. No more Clana
6. Chloe getting a decent storyline
7. MB on the loose, wild/free and dangerous
8. Hope & Mercy would be nice
9. Have Clark & Jonathan realize that the bad crap that's happening stems a lot of from THEIR choices. Don't turn them into Lana, now, mmmkay.
10. If we can't have Lana stay in Europe permanently, keep her there for a good chunk of the season. Also if/when she does come back, make sure it's because she failed, not because she took Paris by storm. Having her come back for Clark or Lex or missing being stalked is beyond retarded. Also, make her stop being an ungrateful bitch to Chloe and doing the stupid abandonment/dead parents/you're not family cakes.
klulu
if what AOT says is true and she gets to spend quality with Lionel

Ooh, I hadn't heard that, reb. But I like it very much! Gives me happy.
rebelqueen
klulu Bella! As the stated goal of my life is to bring you joy, I am glad to have fulfilled it!
The article I was talking about it is at DTS and can be found here-look under what she wants out of Season 4
I have not read the whole thing in the comic, so I am not sure what else she says, but from what I saw I just love AOT that much more.
Also, woe the day that I disagree with mobiusklein on anything, but if from what I understand Hope&Mercy are evil lesbians, I,for one, could do without them.
mobiusklein
Ah, well, I don't want that. I just wanted two tough bodyguards for Lex who wouldn't try to snuff him (I heard they were fairly loyal subordinates). Considering how they don't stick to comics canon that closely, they could (and should) skip the evil lesbians part.
stoutheartedmin
and if what AOT says is true and she gets to spend quality with Lionel-that frelling rocks for me, since they have blurry good chemistry and it allows her some range.

If that happens, Min will do her world-famous Happy Dance of Joy. It's just like the Musical Ride, only without horses. Or Mounties. (;-)

As for Hope and Mercy, I'd be thrilled to death to see them, evil lesbians or not. Just so long as they're tough and dangerous and devoted to Lex. Didn't someone theorize, at one point, that Emily might come back as Mercy? That would have been amazingly cool...but, alas, no.

Also, since we're not following comics canon, maybe we could fast-forward to Hope's betrayal and Lex's vengeance as a Smallville storyline.
sevenless
from what I understand Hope&Mercy are evil lesbians, I,for one, could do without them.

Clark is practically an evil lesbian.
Cyb
Clark is practically an evil lesbian.

I choked on my coke.

I love the AOT Q&A. I want them to give Martha more to do too. As long as it's not podmartha.
rebelqueen
Hmm, you would think this Lex would learn from his mistakes and not spend quality time with evil women, since they inevitable try and kill him and I am pretty sure he is getting wicked tired of the near death experinces. He could probably take over Sylvia Browne's job as many times as he's almost seen the light.
DarkEmerald
He could probably take over Sylvia Browne's job as many times as he's almost seen the light.

LOL! Good one, rebelqueen.

Except, surely in Lex's near-death experiences, it's the drak he sees, not the light, right?
kcolor
Dear Lex,

Well, Paris is not like I expected. First of all, I can't find a smoke-free coffee shop anywhere. So I usually sit at the outdoor tables and try to make friends, but no one seems to want to hear about me or my parents or how the Talon has the best coffee in town. Most people suggest I try the Vaton Cooler, which I guess is some kind of iced drink, but every time I try to order one, the waiters get really angry. Well, I hope to hear from you once the phone company fixes that problem in Smallville. At least your answering machine still works!

Lana
sevenless
Dear [insert name],

I am so happy to hear from you. We haven't spoken since [insert date] so it is good to catch up. As you can imagine, I miss having you around. How are things? How is [insert name of spouse/pet/other]?

I'm afraid I am quite busy now and unable to write more, but will be sure to write you in the future.

Again, so good to hear from you. Take care.

Sincerely,

Lex Luthor
Cyb
We'll find out that Lana's actually the one who'll be evil in the future, if she's not already. 500 years ago the Kawatche looked into the future and heard her talking about "Sekreth" and lies and it got written down as "Segeth". She is, in fact, Clark's enemy.

It makes a lot of sense if you think about it!

Naman and Segeth were like "brothers". Asexual Lana might as well be Clark's brother. They even look alike.

That red snake in Naman's pants in the cave painting? Actually his alien penis, which renders him stupid around "Segeth".
sevenless
and heard her talking about "Sekreth" and lies and it got written down as "Segeth".

Brilliant! I think you might be onto something there.
DarkEmerald
Most people suggest I try the Vaton Cooler

Took me a sec, kcolor, but that's just brilliant. The vaton cooler. Hee!

And sevenless, even Lex's computerized response exudes the Sexy.
hachurui
Can someone explain Vaton Cooler?
DarkEmerald
Well, I took it to be an anglicized "Va-t'en couler," sort of "Git, run along now" in French. So, like if some annoyed French people told Lana to order this, she'd really be telling the waiter to scram. Hee!

Not sure if that was precisely what kcolor intended, but I think it grabs the gist.
hachurui
Thanks DE! (*Regretting studying Spanish intstead of French, but only a little*)

So...topic? If Clark's getting a non-lana love interest next season, I hope that means DC let em use Lois. I'd rather it be her than his cousin or some recycled blend of Kyla/Alicia.
TVjunky
Can someone explain Vaton Cooler?

While your explanation does make sense, DarkEmerald, as a native French speaker, I can tell you "Vaton Cooler" is even worse than telling the waiter to scram... It's actually a very clever anglicized version of "Vas t'enculer" which basically means 'Go fuck yourself" or more accurately "Go get yourself fucked up the ass". Excuse my French. Literaly.

Good one, kcolor!
DarkEmerald
Wow--the stuff they don't teach you in college French! And I even read the slang and curse-word books. S'enculer. Yep, makes sense. And much, much funnier than I thought. Thanks, TVjunky.
kcolor
Mille remerciments, mes amis!

Huh. Everyone's dead but the one I want gone. She got a trip to Paris.
My hubby's with the whole Chloe is not dead and becomes Lois Lane. But with the whole Lionel shaving his head, at the end, his speculation is that Lionel is going to swap his brain into Lex (Lex is only knocked out from the drug) and thus Lex now becomes super evil LionLex.

Of course, he had also speculated the nosy scientist man whose brain was fried by the cave wall was going to brainiac (S2? S1? Which didn't happen).
Cyb
Speculations for season premier.

Martha brews up more tea to put out that giant flaming symbol in her yard. She can't call the fire department because then she'd have to explain that her son's not the only flaming thing at the farm.

Martha wonders where the hell her husband is so she tracks him down to the caves following a trail of platitudes.

She shakes him awake and he explains Clark went into the cave wall. Martha shakes him some more. "You lost our SON? In a cave WALL?" Then she drops him back down and storms out.

Jor-El brainwashes Jonathan into thinking he too is a 16 year old girl. He's arrested stalking Justin Timberlake.

Lana is halfway to Paris before she realizes she forgot to pack her pink lipgloss. NOOO!

Chloe and Gabe are blasted free of the house and Robert Wisden calls his agent.

Lex recovers from poisoning and decides to buy wooden tables from now on.

Lionel is freed on a technicality: No one could stand to see him in a jumpsuit anymore.

Clark comes out of the cave with long hair and heads straight for the nearest bathroom.

Upon his return home, Martha greets him with Kryptonite and a lecture. "From now on, no following murderers into caves, no matter how shiny their lips."

In all seriousness though, the disappearance of Loder should bring a lot of heat down on the Kents from the FBI. I say "should" but I don't think we'll get a follow up on it.
skyblack
Clark comes out of the cave with long hair and heads straight for the nearest bathroom.

Would that include a beard? 'Cause TW is so obviously not seventeen.

Martha brews up more tea to put out that giant flaming symbol in her yard. She can't call the fire department because then she'd have to explain that her son's not the only flaming thing at the farm.

Clark would be the only flaming thing there, only Lex never leaves the farm.

Here's my wish/prediction:

Clark and Lex reconcile. Forgiveness sex immediately follows.

Chloe survives the blast (see below) and immediately joins them. Lana may be in France, but she isn't the one who gets la menage a trois.

With "Angel" ending its run, Spike goes to Smallville. For some reason or another, he ends up in jail and meets Lionel. They escape easily, and stay together out of mutual need: Lionel gives Spike loads of money, and Spike helps him find a cure for liver disease that has nothing to do with metoer rocks but a lot to do with various immortal demons and witchcraft and whatnot. They also compete so see who can fake a better British accent; the winner goes on to challenge Madonna.

Finding Chloe in a coma in a hospital, Spike also helps her out of a similarly fatal bind. This is mostly because Chloe is hot and Spike would like to f--k her.

... And if Spike joined Smallville, the quality of the dialogue would have to go up, just because of his lines!
frenticfrantic
Much debate about the Lionel shaving scene, contrary to the idea that it's a Samson thing, he's actually being prepped for surgery. You see, Lex was not so much drugged as he was sedated so that half his liver can be removed and delivered to Lionel's cozy prison cell.

Additionally,
Chloe + Witness Protection = Lex / Lois (in a non-statutory kind of way)
ElleEstTrois
I'm certain the MB is going to put himself in Lex's body and become Lex. He has nothing to lose. He has seen how he lost his son completely. His health sux. May as well go with the Plan B cloning option.

Maybe Clark is taking that learning trip that he took in the film. Only w/o ice, and w/o his consent. Reverse knowledge rape?

Wouldn't it be cool if they fast forwarded a couple of years? Chloe is now Lois. Lana is ...gone. Lex is Lion and has since taken over the world.
klulu
S4 speculation:

Lana will come back from Paris, learn that Gabe is dead, and immediately bemoan the fact that another father figure has abandoned her. She'll then convince Lex to let her re-do Plant 3 in his honor, create a loft out of the top floor of it and complete her college degree and her doctorate. We learn that she's always been gifted in all of the lab sciences.

Lionel will be found not guilty, will turn out to have the missing vials of Adam's magical liver injections, and will convince everyone that Loder was the one behind the explosion and the poisoning.

Chloe will survive. Without her father, she's got absolutely nothing, so Lex will allow her to live at the mansion to recuperate, where Lionel will torment her emotionally. Lana, out of the pureness of her heart, will offer to let Chloe stay with her for a reasonable monthly rent.
kwerkee
Dr Swann knows more about Clark's origins than anyone else.
Dr Swann mysteriously got his hands on the octagon key.
Dr Swann insists on calling him Kal-El.

I wonder if Jor-El is not his father but Dr Swann's doing? I mean, Jor-El was only introduced after Clark met Dr Swann. I don't know why he would want Clark to rule the planet but it would make sense that Clark's visions of Jor-El (Relic, Memoria) was different from that AI Jor-El.
kennowen
My guess is that Clark's in the phantom zone, having been duped by Zod, who's convinced Johnathan at least that he is in fact Jor-El. Lex might have a hand in rescuing him, in order to put them back on speaking terms for the next season. (Zod would also be aware of Kal's cousin, Kara, so last night wouldn't negate her later appearance, just make Clark more wary upon their ultimate meeting.)
Chloe escaping makes sense to me, as we never saw a body, and it's been used before as the ultmate way to convince the bad guys that the witness is dead.
Lana will return and complain that HER summer was worse than anything that happened to the rest of the cast, as she was in France. "They wouldn't even speak English! I couldn't order any food! It was horrible!" And she'll chain smoke.
skyblack
frenticfrantic,

So what you're saying is, when Lex wakes up in S4, he's going to be in a bathtub of ice cubes in some cheap New Orleans motel room?
Bedlam
Okay, they've probably all been covered, but here are my votes:

Chloe - Either the whole thing was a Lex set-up to make it look like she'd died to keep her safe til the trial. OR With that weird lingering shot of that one FBI agent smiling as they drove off, Chloe recognized him as someone working for Lionel and ran out the back door with dad. Either way, as part of her witness protection thing, she dyes her hair brown and picks up her cousin's name.

Lana - Finds that the Power of Pink cannot stop anti-American sentiments in France, and is smashed to death when a shipment of Baguettes falls off a plane and smashes her. OR All the death and chaos in Smallville brings her back.

Personally, I'd like to see next season pick up one year from now. Clark gets back shortly before the end of the year, gets his G.E.D. and heads off to Metropolis U. (and maybe: Lex wakes up in Hong Kong, thinking only one night has passed, he calls Vaughn, hoping for some make-up sex after their fight, but finds that Vaughn and Clark have taken advantage of the new same sex marriage laws and... wait.. I'm getting confused here) Anyway, Clark goes to college, finds Chloe in her new identity in his journalism class. Lana is back after a few acting lessions, and hopefully some sort of non-pink Parisian fashion sense.
ducklord
Geeky fanboy speculation time:

A few years ago, in the comics, Lex Luthor was dying of radiation poisoning brought on by his Kryptonite ring. He faked his own death, and had his brain placed in a homegrown younger clone. This clone then showed up in Metropolis, pretending to be Lex's son, "Alexander" Luthor, the heir to the Luthor name.

I think you can see where I'm going with this. Lionel's being prepped for surgery all right, but not for something as trivial as a liver transplant. He's going to put his BRAIN into Lex's body. Not only is the shaving a necessary pre-op ritual, it's giving Lionel a taste of how it'll feel to be bald.

Mwah-ha-ha-haaaaaa!
stoutheartedmin
S4 speculation. When we last visited Smallville...

Dead or wounded: Lex, Bo, Chloe
Missing: Clark, Lana (please, God), Pete
Incarcerated: Lionel
At large: Martha

Season 4 opens with Martha pretty much pissed off at everyone...Bo for hiding his deal with Jor-El, Chloe for making a deal with Lionel, Clark for being an all-around asshat, Lex for being a big gay perve, Lionel for being the most magnificent bastard in the history of Earth, Jor-El for being the most magnificent bastard in the history of Krypton. She is unwillingly forced into an alliance with Lionel, because, hey, everyone else is dead or out of commission. The ensuing Search for Clark occupies the first half of the season. At which point, it is revealed that "Jor-El" is Swann, Swann is from Krypton, Clark is now an asshat in a silly uniform, and Lana dies in France after eating bad escargot.
Cyb
I want min to write the season premier.
sevenless
I'm wondering if, in Season 4, Jor-El gets his shirt ripped off.
TVjunky
If Lionel really has his brain transfered to Lex's body, I think I will die of laughter. Will the doctors doing the transfer wait for a stormy night, because they need a few good lightning bolts for a successful transplant? After the brain transfer is done, will Lionel kidnap Martha and transplant her brain into Lana's body and make her his bride? Lexana indeed!

I could buy the liver transplant thing though. Which would probably fail. Lex and his liver will be saved on time by a repentant BDA, who will tell his woobie the truth about everything and bend over the pool table for some hot make-up sex.

Gabe is totally dead. My friend and I rewinded the explosion sequence many times to try to convince ourselves that Chloe and her dad didn't really just get blown up. But the door clearly closes on Gabe, and the shot through the door's window makes it pretty clear that the explosion comes from within the house. Which leads me to:

Fanwank Theory 1: Chloe got suspicious of creepy smirking guy, and told Gabe: "Wait, no way that guy was F.B.I" and got out of the house to try to get another look at him. House exploses. She is hurt, but survives, because she wasn't in the house. Lex has Chloe move in with him. He makes her learn tones of serious martial art stuff and other ass-kicking 101 things, and and renames her Mercy.

Fanwank Theory 2:Chloe was close enough to the door to escape with her life, but she is completely amnesiac. She is taken in by the Lanes, and becomes Lois's sister, Lucy. But only for a while, cuz I want Chloe to remain Chloe, when all is said and done.

Fanwank Theory 3: Chloe escapes with partial amnesia. She somehow comes across the articles she is told that she has written, but they're the ones she signed "Lois Lane". Cue Superman theme music. Lex decides to not tell her who she really is, in order to protect her. Thus Lois Lane and Lex Luthor's ties begin.

Fanwank Theory 4: Lex orchestrated the explosion of the house. Chloe and her dad are both alive and well. The door window was reflecting the light from the explosion that occurred across the street.

Of course, whatever occurs, you can count on the fact that Lana will come back from Paris, pissed that everyone was too busy with their own genuine problems to miss her. And she'll say : "Chloe was so lucky! At least she got to move into a beautiful new house before she got blown to bits with her dad, thus abandoning me, like everyone else does. I knew I couldn't trust her!. *sigh* Story of my life."
Cannibal
Theory 4 doesn't sound that far off.
If Lionel thought that Chloe and Gabe were dead, he wouldn't send anyone after them.

My main concern is that if they don't get the rights to use Lois, will they work around it and do something with Chloe (what with the supposed new do which I thought we were supposed to see tonight) or just prolong the Clana?
TW says that Clark is getting a new love interest so hopefully it’s the former.
amo
Notes for Season 4:

More school. Maybe it's too late for this, but Clark's troubles in high school added something to the 'growing up Clark' aspect.

Put the 'genius' back in 'evil genius'. For crap's sake, doesn't Lex know to watch his back? Shouldn't he take guards with him to face a deranged FBI agent (Forsaken?). Doesn't he know not to drink ANYTHING prepared by anyone else in the mansion?

Empowered MamaKent. Geez, does she have to wait for something to happen in order to react? It's like she's just trying to hold for dear life while her family races to chaos.

More Lana! Gee, I'll really miss her while she's in Paris! Please tell me she's coming back right away! Also, could you drive a spike through my eye?

Some friends were speculating that the makeup of the show's fanbase could experience a shift in S4.

So far, those keen to see Evil!Lex have been somewhat dissatisfied because Lex and Clark have ostensibly been friends and there was little to get your teeth into if you were a comics Lex fan and waiting for him to kick some evil ass.

However, now they are skewing "young male" with the series and there's no more Clex, it's going to appeal more to viewers who aren't as interested in the touchy feely stuff, and there should be more male/male fighting and one upmanship, with Clark potentially also metamorphosing more into his comic book "Good" role.

So far there's been a large contingient of Hoyay fans who will start to drop away as that aspect of the series disappears in favour of Clark and Lex taking on their roles as antagonists. I was kinda hoping for their enmity to be quite passionate, but that dynamic doesn't really seem to be working for these two characters. It's just hateful. But many people will enjoy that.

Do these speculations ring true for anyone else?
Bedlam
I know I mentioned it myself, but I don't really like the theory that Lex set up the Chole explosion.

I mean how dumb is Lionel? "Hmm... one of the main witnesses against me just blew up, even though I didn't arrainge for her to be blown up. Oh, well, she must be gone for good. No need to worry any more about her."

The only way at all that works is if Lionel was planning on blowing up Chole, Lex found out about it, and then set it up so the Sullivans could escape.

I wouldn't mind the Clex as enemies if it were to metamorphasize into an Angel/Lindsey-like situation, but if they're going to start behaving like Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman in the films, then yeah, I'll probably be tuning out shortly afterwards.

I don't know about that. Angel didn't even have the courtesy of showing up and penetrating him (with bullets) one last time. He had a flunky get him off (the mortal coil). You know that had to hurt Lindsay's feelings. Still, at the moment of his release (from this plane of existance) he was moaning Angel's name.
Cyb
In a really distant flashback, we'll find that Alexander the Great was actually Clark's great great great great granduncle, Gay-El, sent to conquer earth. Finally explaining that breastplate from Rogue.

Actually my more serious speculation is about whether we'll get an immediate follow up in the premier, or whether it will be '3 months later'?

If it's 3 months later we could have both Lex and Bo in the hospital (not sharing a room or anything though that would amuse) fighting for their lives. Yeah a 3 month coma is pretty long but...whatever. Lana's in Paris (except it's actually Vancouver) completely oblivious to everything in Smallville. We won't find out that Chloe's alive until the end of the episode, where she's in disguise, interviewing to be the editor of her new school's editor. Or something like that.

ETA: Okay I just found a site with the Kryptonese alphabet...the symbol on the farm is the letter P or F. Kryptonese More likely P...because the tail is longer.

What do people think the P stands for? Palac?
Aatrek
Dare I say it... "Pink."
hachurui
Yeah, I was thinking that, along with other Peep related stuff like Paris or Preternatural...but why would Jor-el or Swann care about crap like that? I mean, it's not like Krypton revolved around planet blahna or anything...right?
rebelqueen
to follow through with the Spike ideas:
possible SV season 4 plans
1) Seeing as how LA just became a whole lot worse for the Wolf, Ram and Heart, the move out to SV(which has a whole lot of creepy going on) and Lex hires them to take out his dad and whacky hijinks insue- or maybe Clark takes over since he thinks he can fight the good fight from within.
2) Andrew shows up in town since after he realizes a new slayer was chosen last may-It turns out to be Lana(who had all those kung-fu powers appear quite mysteriously) and SV is never the same again.

On to the real season 4, Put me as one of those who is not with the happy over Chloe as Lois thing-I have regained a lot of faith in AlMiles over the last few sodes but they are so no way near good enough to pull that off(i would not even trust Joss to do it). As for a time delay(and good heavens let it not be 2 years, I will hurl things at the screen if I have to go through that again- had this miserable little season of Alias for that), it could go either way- I'd like to see the aftermath of what happens- how Martha copes and if she goes off and finds Jonthan down the well-oops,in the ramabaldi caverns, plus I want to see how Lex&Chloe are and we could enjoy a Lana free zone whilst she finds herself and enjoys the nice eclairs in gay Paree; however, I'm not sure how long they could carry the story through for, since we only have 22 'sodes to get to the good Clark/Lex(and prayfully,Chlex) stuff.
(grr argh, I get all weepy thinking about the Tiny Texans death-darn you Joss, you evil genius, well not in that plot point-and he killed my dark, brooding british boyfriend-i'll never forgive him for that)
Bonanza
Is anyone else here thinking that the writers are going to pull a "time jump" on the show? I think they are going to show us in season 4, three or more years into the future. I don't think Clark is coming back right away, I think when season 4 comes around, Clark will not be home and Martha and Jonathan have lost hope. I also think there is going to be alot of changes next season. But does anyone else see a time jump?
Dizzig
Here's my speculation:

That's not Jor-El. Jor-El is dead. Terrence Stamp's voice is a clue: all this time, Clark and Bo have been communicating with Zod. Clark is now stuck in the Phantom Zone.

Gives a whole new meaning to the classic "Son of Jor-El, kneel before Zod!" line from Superman 2, don't it?
