There is a cult that worships Clark?

They are bringing that darn cult back from the Crusade spoilers, aren't they?
Eurybia
OK, I totally understand Lex's WTF face at the end of the trailer.

Really, show? A Clark-worshipping cult?
My thoughts exactly, Bob.

They are bringing that darn cult back from the Crusade spoilers, aren't they?
Huh? There were spoilers of this for S4? OMG, they had this planned back then? Veritas isn't the biggest retcon of the series?
clooless
Eurybia, as I understand it, this thing was planned way before they ever got to execute it. I'm not sure how true this is, but I read it on someone's LJ that they had a big thing planned with Christopher Reeve that went awry due to his untimely death and so they had to change S4 to accomodate that. I don't know - these people might not really be as dumb as we think they are.
SueB
No pictures, no Directors Cut. I'm worried --- these are signs of a turkey and we can't afford that right now w/ MR.

Maybe they are furiously reediting but I am concerned.

I think it's also very telling that that there was no extended trailer, and that the only trailer we have is practically just one prolonged scene with addition of Vessel footage. It's like they don't even have enough material to fill in the 20sec trailer! I have a strong feeling that Quest will be only marginally better than Sleeper.

ETA: I just remembered that they've brought back Ken Biller specifically to direct this episode and now I'm even more confused by the lack of promotion.

We did not have a lot of new material in the trailer for Descent either, and it was IMO one of the best episodes of the entire series.

But after Sleeper and the announcement of MR leaving, I am not getting my hopes up.

I agree about Descent. OTOH, it makes sense that the promotion was focused on Lionel's death by Lex (trailer) and also, unlike for Quest we did get promo stills (Clark and Lex at the funeral) and the DC. So it still seems weird to me that we have practically nothing except a short trailer for Quest.
Omega II
I hope the episode is just effect ridded, so they only had a few shots ready in time for the promo.
EllyF
Is this a new trailer, or is it just the one they ran a week or two ago? They all seem to be blurring together to me lately...

It's the same trailer

No offense to Robert Picardo, but keeping the Veritas secrets must have been pretty rough on him. Dude is not looking good compared to the last time we saw him.

Originally, there was apparently meant to be a scene in Crusade that showed a robed cult preparing Lana to be possessed. Or something.

I don't think that cult was meant to have anything to do with Veritas though.

Spoilery Arctic info from TV Guide (credit to ClarkyBoy14 from Ksite):

"Arctic" was on the Hotlist. Here's what it said: "Smallville (The CW, 8/7c) The joyride of Season 7 soars to a close with a game-changing cliff-hanger for Clark, Lex and at least one of the ladies in their lives." Also included was a picture of Clark and Lex, but it may be from the Clex scene in "Apocalypse."

SV got a blurb in the "Finale Preview" section. There was a picture of Clark at a power plant and Brainiac shoved into an electric box with the caption "Smallville's finale is electric!" Here's the blurb: "Smallville THURSDAY, 5/15,8/7c, THE CW After seven seasons and countless schemes, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) may finally have Clark's (Tom Welling) number. "The finale deals with what could be the [culmination] of Lex's quest...and potentially the most devastating blow that Clark Kent has ever faced," reveals exec producer Al Gough. Could that blow have to do with the news that Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk (Lana) won't be back as regulars next season?
"Some characters' journeys come to an end," teases Gough, whose own journey stops here, too: He and cocreator Miles Millar announced in April that they'll leave after the finale--right after launching one last Brainiac (James Marsters) attack on the good folks of Smallville. "He's back with a score to settle.""

Here's their blurb in the Highlights section: "Smallville SEASON FINALE 8/7c, THE CW Lex is chillin' in the Fortress of Solitude, Kara is trapped in the Phantom Zone and Chloe is in federal custody. If that doesn't scream cliff-hanger, we don't know what does!"

Thanks nex! Perhaps the "Brainiac drains power at powerstation" plot is still going on.

Not to be confused with sunlight *snickers*.

Was that mentioned in s5 when we first saw Brainiac or is this because he was stored in a vial with green K (that really should have no effect on him)?

I forgot the episode and the exact line but it was this season where Clark and Kara are looking for Brainiac and Kara says something like "He must run on something!" and Clark says "Energy!" or vice versa. It was hilarious.
gdwm
It was Veritas, and it was educated-on-Krypton Kara who said it, making it all the more hilarious.

Yes, it was.:) But what I meant was did Brainiac need "energy" back in s5 too? Is that a characteristic of Brainiac - he needs to periodically recharge his batteries so to speak?

ETA: Thanks Omega II.

If your asking what was Brainiac's power source in S5, then the answer is the black ship. The hard drive/power core thingy that was drained, thereby turned to dust, by Byron(?) was inferred as the main source of power. The remaining dust is what Brainiac regenerated from.

Isn't that info a spoiler?

No, because this is TWOP's spoiler policy: "Generally, if it's floating about in the mainstream press (the CNNs, EWs, APs, and Peoples of the world) as a regular press item, then it's probably not a spoiler and you may post it without spoiler tags."

Just saw the "Quest" DC. Strange.

Why is Chloe on a ventilator with the glazed over Braniac eyes????? Then a shot of Lois hugging a bereft Clark. Jail/smail. They are going to kill Chloe or at the very least leave her in the coma that Lana just got out of.

I noticed that as well. I think it appeared right after a quick shot of Lana after she comes out of the coma. In the end, it really is all about Lana, or just bad negotiating on the actor's contracts.
CantThinkUpName
Bkwurm, I thought that was Chloe too but couldn't figure how or why it would be her. I just assumed that my vision was off and it was Lana. At least I'm not the only one who thought that.

At least there seem to be a lot of GAYLEs.
Black Panda

Because Lana is screaming save me at the top of her psychic lungs. So to save Clark, and the world, you give it a try?

I was kind of expecting that as a possibility really. They never dealt with why not try.
Bkwurm
I recorded the episode and watched the promo frame by frame. Right after the shot of Lana (looks like she's making a video or something) there is a shot of Chloe on the ventilator. I thought for a moment it was a recycled thing from Bizarro, but then she opens her eyes and they are all clouded over. Next shot Lois hugging Clark at the Kent Farm. I don't think it is the old Lois/Clark hug from Bizarro. I don't remember Clark being so broken up that time. This is not good for my morale.

Because Lana is screaming save me at the top of her psychic lungs. So to save Clark, and the world, you give it a try?

Crap. I didn't even think of that. This show is ALL ABOUT LANA. I'd rather Chloe be stuck in jail.
Eurybia
So Chloe heals Lana, leaving her in a coma, and then Lana leaves town? Lana sucks like whoa.
Teen Titan
But wait... How can Chloe heal Lana of whatever Brainiac did to her?

I thought Lana was somehow infested with parts of Brainiac, and that's how he was controlling her. How could Chloe's power heal Lana of something that isn't physical, but rather mechanical?

And then transfer it to herself to boot!

Gah!
chlarkspuffy
I skipped SV tonight and look what I miss?! I'm very confused. I though Chloe is supposed to be arrested in the finale. So, she's arrested and comatose?
PolarB
How could Chloe's power heal Lana of something that isn't physical, but rather mechanical?

I also wonder how Chloe can do it while not being present. Everything we've seen so far indicates Chloe has to be touching the person to heal them, and knowing what we know about Lana's scene, I don't see how that's possible.
Teen Titan
Maybe they filmed a scene with Mack and a body double, then also filmed stuff to insert with Kreuk. I could see it working.

So perhaps Chloe knows she's about to be arrested, so, figuring she doesn't have much to lose, she goes to the hospital and heals Lana?

The comatose Chloe is then arrested and taken away.

As improbable as the healing seems I would actually find it a fitting cap to Chloe's meteor ability storyline. I really don't want to lose Chloe until the issue of the power has been dealt with, and I don't think it definitively was in Fracture.

Chloe healing Lana does that (sadly).
Macazi
Something that struck me as wierd was that in the promo for Arctic when they show Chloe with the wierd eyes like Lana was, why was she at the hospitol? Lana never had to go to the hospitol after Brainiac took control of her, she just started acting all robotic and ended up catatonic. Also Chloe opened her eyes like she was being awakened by something, which Lana didn't do either. I wonder if Chloes meteor power is somehow countering the effects of Braniac ( if she really did take Lanas place ), and is able to have a little control of herself ?

I think I might be reaching here but that promo really surprised me and depressed me at the same time. If I have to choose either to see Chloe arrested or end up in a coma to save Lana as her cliffhanger, I'd rather see her being arrested.

Okay, now I'm really worried, I hope AM comes back next season even if it's only for a few episodes so that they can give Chloe a good ending, one that she deserves.

I thought Lana was somehow infested with parts of Brainiac, and that's how he was controlling her. How could Chloe's power heal Lana of something that isn't physical, but rather mechanical?

Maybe for some reason Brainiac releases Lana and then decides to take control of Chloe :/
Nat0117
Chloe's on a vent. She must've ended up in the hospital somehow, probably after becoming comatose and saving Lana. She wakes up and it's revealed that the condition has been transfered to her?

WTF? Did they do a last-minute change thinking that AM wasn't coming back? Well, they certainly have an out for Chloe now. She'll be catatonic indefinitely. Cool!!

Or maybe she's arrested and the DoS threatens to use some sort of technology to read her mind...and knowing that if anyone gets in her head, all of Clark's secrets will be revealed, so she trades with Lana to remain impenetrable.

Given that we know the final shot of the finale is Lex staring up at something (based on MR interview), I have to think that Chloe is out mid-ep because it looks like Clark is being comforted by Lois, and he's still got to get back to the Fortress for what I'd think is a lengthy Clex ending. Bummer.
chlarkspuffy
Chloe has thus far bounced back from every ailment she has absorbed by her power, so one would predict the same this time, right? Also, if Brainiac is to be dispensed with shouldn't his hold over Lana/Chloe also disappear?
Teen Titan
Yes. BUT, Chloe's recovery time has been getting longer as per Fracture.

IF, Chloe heals Lana and ends up in a coma, then they could simply have her regenerate and come out of it in season 8.

However, if they lose Mack, they can just continue to say she's in the coma, until such time as they can either get her back for a guest shot or write her out definitively.
chlarkspuffy
I see your point, Teen Titan. I guess that just leaves the Brainiac part of it.
Eurybia
Oh, Zod help me, if AM doesn't return, they're going to pull a Cordelia, and have her be in a coma until she dies, thus effectively ending the build up to an actual relationship.
chlarkspuffy

Well, one can never accuse SV's writing team of originality, that's for sure. This is lame on so many levels. It saddens me that my fav. character has been reduced to this.
SueB
Weeks ago I predicted that Clark was pulled up unwillingly by the beam of light to the FoS based on a frame from a multi-episode trailer. In tonight's promo, the last shot of Lex is with a hand on the shoulder of a surprised looking Clark. I'm thinking that's how they collide at the FoS. Can't wait.

Chloe & the catatonia. Fab. Why does she do it? (If this is healing related issue).
nwp01

Or think of it this way: it's an easy way to get Chloe out of the way so everyone can become their iconic selves with an easy expain-away. Death? Overdone. Coma-sure! Obviously, in a situation like this (if it were to continue indefinitely)..any potential that she had to be anything in the future is gone...and no one can ask or expect Clark, Lois or even Jimmy to stop living their own life, correct?

I was looking on youtube for the trailer but cannot find. If anyone has a link, please provide! :)

I definitely think there's more to Chloe heals Lana( if that's the situation) than what the trailer is suggesting. I have no clue what that might be though.
Eurybia
Thanks for the link, Sweetme!

It looks to me like the clip with Lana is from a "videotape"... like she's taping a goodbye to Clark.

And this show is trying to destroy me. "I would have helped you become a hero." I was expecting it, but man! I am fully expecting to cry next week.

WOW. Just wow.

Right about now, I'm hoping AM runs for her life.
