Are TV advertisements affected by the writer's strike? I appreciate it's stupid, but if they need an official writer for the tagline, just using last years' as a workaround may have been the box they put themselves into
Then again, the "REBOOT" line would have worked too -- and that was new.
BTW Exactly how much would it have costed them to take a few new promo shots of TW? I'm tired of the same photo.

I would have gone with "James Marsters is cool!" But I'm no advertising genius.
Seriously? That is better than re-using the stupid triangle mess.
At least, fans would agree with the "James Marsters is cool!" tagline :)

Transcription:
Dax-Ur kisses his blonde wife goodnight; he's staying over time. Max, his son, asks for a story when he comes home. Just then Brainiac shows up behind him,
B: I want you to tell me a story.
Dax-Ur: Who are you?
B: Uh, you should know. You created me.
Dax: It...can't be.
B: It took two super powered beings to find you, if they weren't so busy trying to detroy one another they might of figured out I was using them.
Dax made a lunged away and for his wrist.
B: Don't loose your bracelet.
Dax: Why are you here?
B: I'm... damaged. You're the only one who knows how to repair me.
Dax: You're on your own.
B: All I need is the information in your mind.
Dax: I'll never tell you.
B: Oh, you don't have to talk. Brainiac stabs Dax through the skull and extracts stuff, eye goes codey.

Interesting. Lara refers to Brainiac in
Lara as "Jor-El's", so I suppose we can take this to mean that Dax-Ur worked for Jor-El, or is SV retconning itself again?

I'm also guessing lab assistant to JorEl.

Totally. Also, I can't see the DC-- can anyone tell if the bracelet is blue or gold? Originally, in "Fierce," they seemed to have set this up as gold kryptonite, but maybe they realized it was silly to have two different colors of kryptonite that could depower Kryptonians. I'm guessing it's blue, but I can't see the DC, so I could be wrong.

Can't see it, Brainiac puts his hand over it. And...the ring was blue but he's not reaching for that.

This is a quote from USA Today about this past Thursday's episode. I'm not a Seinfeld fan, so I don't get the reference. Can anyone help?
"Clark is stuck in the frozen fortress in a fresh Smallville (CW, 8 ET/PT), but fans won't have to do without Tom Welling, who will be spending the hour as Bizarro Clark — a Seinfeld joke come back to its original home. He and Lana are on the trail of Brainiac, played by a guest star from another sci-fi universe, Buffy's busy James Marsters, who was just seen on Torchwood."
And the Seattle Post Intelligencer should work on being more intelligent. This is part of what they posted about Thursday's episode: "Six new episodes are left, more than enough time for Clark (Tom Welling) to escape from the Fortress of Solitude, where Bizarro imprisoned him before posing as Clark."
Maybe I'm just being nit-picky, but Bizarro didn't imprison Clark, it was Jor-El! Oy vey...

a Seinfeld joke come back to its original home.
There was an episode called "The Bizarro Jerry" where Elaine starts to date someone who's sort of the opposite of Jerry but looks just like him and he's friends with a Bizarro George and a Bizarro Kramer. Unlike Smallville, it does have Bizarro Jerry talking like real Bizarro. But they did give credit where credit is due in that episode. And now I really want to see that episode again.

Jerry Seinfeld is a huge Superman fan and they did an episode where Elaine was in "Bizarro World" - she found a new group of friends who were opposites of Jerry, Kramer and George. Not to mention the many other Superman references peppered throughout Seinfeld in general.

Had a random thought today after rewatching Brainiac w/ his mollusk comment and JorEl the TimeOut Pop. It's going to be difficult for Clark to go back to the FoS willingly. Why would he think JorEl is going to do anything but freeze him again? But somehow, Clark needs to understand more about Krypton & be much more than a "mollusk" to other threats.
So...what if somehow when he defeats Brainiac (and he must) he gets downloaded all of Brainiac's knowledge. I know his physiology isn't up to computers so heavy fanwanking is required but this may be a way around BadDad.
Early in SV Clark is shown to be smarter than the average bear (at least at math, when he calculated the interest rate of the farm loan in his head). That whole skill set seems to have completely vanished since early S1. Perhaps he was "good at math" in S2 but that's about it. Now we have Chloe casually mentioning that his mind is a titanium trap. So, perhaps the are trying a resurgence of Smart!Clark --- or at least that he has the capacity for smart if he so chooses.
Of course getting some sort of data download from Brainiac (okay, I had to re-write that three times and it still has HoYay overtones!) has complications: Can he actually defeat a restored Brainiac? Would he have an evil personality problem with this? Would he get the god-complex blues? Would he be able to retain the knowledge or it be fragmented? Would he still have his good heart? Still, we need Clark to be smarter than he is. If he doesn't get the special knowledge he needs from the FoS, then perhaps Brainiac could be an unwilling source.
Finally, perhaps he can plug Braniac into the FoS (again, with the HoYay...sorry....at least I didn't say JorEl). Perhaps if he can somehow control Brainiac he can restore what many of us think is a faulty JorEl. I know with Brainiac's "personality" this is improbable, but I'm looking for solutons here.

At this point, I would prefer Clark learn "on the job" and ignore Hal 2.0. Clark learned to use his powers on hsi own. Bring back MM if necessary, but the Jor-El AI is far too twisted to be a reliable teacher / guide at this point, IMO.

Here's what he said in his Foreword about "Wither" (and hopefully my publishers won't get mad at me for sharing this early, use this as incentive to pre-order the book): "Finally, I got to take my shirt off. I was getting worried for a while, that it might not happen, but once I read the script, a sigh of relief came over me as I read the scene where I would be shirtless."

Have they changed the promo department recently or something? All the promos since the hiatus have been pretty decent. If anyone was wondering how Kristin's role in Street Fighter would affect her filming Smallville, it doesn't appear to be a problem. According to
http://www.ropesofsilicon.com/article/stre...s_going_to_suck filming starts in March in: Bangkok,Hong Kong, and Vancouver. It doesn't look like KK will miss any of the remaining episodes.

I don't think I'm following your line of reasoning. I thought we'd heard Smallville filming would start up again in four to six weeks, which would mean shooting probably starts sometime in March, or early April at the latest. If she's filming in March in Hong Kong and Bangkok and Vancouver, how will she be filming Smallville at the same time? Did I miss something in the article? Surely it takes more than a month to film a movie if you're the star?
The article's amusingly negative, BTW. ("Street Fighter adaptation is going to suck." Hee... don't hold back there, dude!) I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate this guy isn't a Kristin Kreuk fan:-).

Feb 19, 2008 @ 10:16 am
Doesn't sound like this guy likes anything about this Street Fighter movie.
I'm not sure how KK could do both SV and this at the same time. At least not having her be a major player in eps. I suppose she could do it if her scenes are pretty minimal on SV. Because as the star of the other movie, she's likely to be needed quite a bit. And if the filming of SV coincides with location shooting in Bangkok and Thailand, then she's definitely going to have to be written out of SV for that time frame. When she's filming in Vancouver? Perhaps she can do both. TW did SV and The Fog at the same time, after all. Though that film totally accomodated him, and filmed around his SV schedule, and it was completely based in Vancouver. TW also was a co-lead, with Maggie Grace probably having a slightly larger role.
One thing does seem certain though...KK is doing this role. So, the SV producers are obviously going to accomodate her.
As for when SV goes back into production, I would think that in order to have new eps ready by April 17, they'd need to get back into production in no more then 3-4 weeks. Otherwise, I think they'd really be pushing it. Hopefully we'll find out when they officially go back to work. :)

I remember Tom mentioning that Al said they could be back within 2 weeks of the strike ending. That would mean, what, next week? However, I don't think any scripts are finished yet and then there's the matter of organizing everyone, the studio, etc. again.
So, hopefully they'll be back soon.

Feb 19, 2008 @ 11:09 am
Well, aren't they making some changes to "Veritas"? If that's the case, I don't see why it would take a long time to start filming those changes because it's not like they have to write an entire script. Also, I thought that I read somewhere that KK was already in Thailand training for her movie. If that's the case, I can't see how she will be a part of the changes for "Veritas".
As for this article about the movie, it's news to me that they are filming part of it in Vancouver. Perhaps this is when KK will film some of her post-strike episode scenes. But I must say, with KK likely having a very limited role in these upcoming episodes because of her movie, I find it hard to believe that her end on Smallville will be this season. I don't think that TPTB would get rid of her from the series if she was only around to film a few scenes here and there.
