If we do alternate universe stories, I’d rather see a darker episode that explored the idea of “What if Lionel had found and adopted Clark instead of the Kents?”

Ooh, nice one, Dread!

And continuing on that line... what if Clark had never left Krypton, and was raised by Jor-El? That is, raised under the thumb of a powerful man determined to make sure his son would follow in his conquering footsteps? (I'm not convinced that the Jor-El of Smallville is entirely benign, even if he did oppose Zod.)

And to take that a bit further....

What if a powerful businessman based in Metropolis, Kansas managed to send his son away in a spaceship before nuclear war destroyed the planet?

And sent "messages" with him and other paraphenalia on ahead, to "guide" him?

And the spaceship crash-landed on Krypton, engulfing that part of the world in fiery meteorites containing some sort of radioactive lead?

And a couple of honest, hard-working Kryptonians found that spaceship, and arranged for Jor-El to do an "adoption"?

And, years later, a misunderstood rich boy named Kal-El was befriended by a nice young man with no hair and strange, secret powers who became mysteriously sick around "meteor rocks"?

I'm just sayin'.

It'd still be kind of a cool episode if Clark could see just how different life in Smallville would have been if he had never come to Earth.
I love these ideas.

You know, since people liked Clark in "Fragile", and Maddie's experience with her dad was suppose to parallel Clark's experience with his fathers, maybe they could have another kid/teen Clark mentors. But this time, the kid is involved in a friendship that parallels the Clex and he's the "Clark" in it. Clark could give him advice on what to do and what not to do and possible regrets that he has qrt the Clex friendship.

Just throwing that out there. :)
jwm
HipHopStar!Pete would be dating FashionModel!Lois.

Why do things turn out good for them?

Just because things turn out "good" doesn't mean they are happy. ;)

I'm not sure this is the right place for this thought but...

Just Curious: Who would you like to see board the first flight on CK Airlines, in the series finale episode (when it comes) assuming producers let him fly? Chloe, Lois, Lana, or Martha, and why? My pick would be Chloe because she has been through it all with him, and never second guesses him, she deserves it. I hate to say it but I think it would most likely be Lois. I just don't think the actors have enough chemistry. Too bad Chlois isnt true!

As much as I love Chloe...It has to be his mom....That type of moment should be given to his Mother.

Eww. Why "eww" do you wonder? Well, I've always associated flight with romance, unless life saving is involved. The Supes save and scoop, I imagine frist would go to some helpless citizen in need of saving. Though, I wouldn't mind if it were Martha in that case. Clark mastering flight and then taking mama out for a spin, however, is all types of wrong.
Tzigone
I say Chloe for a Chlois thing.

I love Martha, but I've never associated her (or Jonathan) with Superman flying. Also, Chloe's been the one pushing the hero thing.
BadToad
Shelby. He's been a really good dog. ;) :P

Also, Chloe's been the one pushing the hero thing.

Absolutely, Chloe for sure and her reaction would be something I'd want to see. And yeah I associate flying with romantic too.
Chiriru
I'd love Chloe - especially since they set up way back in Rush (and then in her S3 articles for the Planet) that she'd love to fly. And in the Fever letter too. That would show some great kind of pay off, I think.

Lex! ('Cause the boys were so cute fighting and flying in "Zod.")

But next to Lex....I'd have to go with Martha. Clark/Martha moments make me happy. But Chloe would be awesome too.
RepairmanBob
I love me some Chloe, but I don't see her making it that far. I think, due to their own desires or network pressure, The Goughlar will have Clark and Lois will fly off, creating the Clois anvil to end all anvils.

Probably over Chloe's gravestone.

I cannot wait for Pregnant!Lana!

"LEX! THESE PICKLES ARE SO SECRETIVE! DIP THEM IN CARAMEL!"

"LEX! BRING ME MARSHMALLOW LEMONS! DON'T LIE AND TELL ME THEY DON'T EXIST!"

End of seven season spoilers guessed by ....

Before the end Clark will have to be saved by someone (I hope we didn't have to hear that opening credits song for 100 plus episodes for nothing). After that, it will not be a matter of Clark wanting Chloe, but a matter of Chloe wanting Clark back because by then Clark will have done (maybe not on purpose) something to Chloe, that will make Chloe very mad and disappointed at Clark. Chloe probably will take Clark back, but we will see Clark grovel a lot first (at least I hope so). It is even possible that he will look for help at home (his or hers). By then little Harmony will probably not be the only daughter in the block either. And Lois will already be of no importance at all. And Jimmy will be nursing a kicked behind or worse (punishment applied by Clark) because of not being so nice to Chloe. Lana and Lex will be happily together, double crossing everybody and especially each other. And Lionel will be reveled as the real villain of the story. And finally we will be awarded with a "Justice League" spinn-off.

Can I pick Pete?
BadToad
No one. I want Clark to fly solo. I want him to soar among the clouds, and I want to see him enjoying it.
Tzigone
I want a solo flight to save the world (or something else big) with a determined look on his face. Maybe pleasant flight with Chloe, afterwards, perhaps in the "winding down" end-tag to the ep, with smiling and fun.
Scry
Is it just me, or does everyone else not want the slow-fly-out-of-view that ends the Superman movies? I would love it if they played the music, but I'd rather a quick flyby that goes to black. Like how they went into the commercial break after Clark flew in Crusade.
wrighty555
I want them to recreate the fly around the world.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, this is actually the first time I've ever been involved in anytype of forum. LOL. I didn't start watching SV until the end of S5 and on thru S6. I've got the DVD's for all the previous seasons, and I'm working through those right now. (I'm mid-way through S2 right now). Anyhow, what does everyone think the odds are of continuing SV after they have begun the "Superman era"? After he flies and all, why can't the series continue? Sure I know everyone says SV is "limited" because once he's Superman he leaves SV. But why not take the series to the next level and call it "Metropolis"?? Have all the same cast of characters, add in some new ones too. I mean you would have never ending storylines in Metropolis, even cover the begining of the relationship between CK and Lois. Anyhow, I'm just ranting now, if this has already been coved, I'm sorry, like I said, I'm new here. Thanx!

Honestly, I think it'd be great if they based a series on the Metropolis concept. But I think the problem is that the actors are very unlikely to want to sign on for several more years in the same roles. So I really doubt SV will go longer than to the end of Season 7 (when the current contracts are supposed to expire).
JUrso10
Yeah, that's the wildcard, we don't know how much of a factor money, or even the actors creativness may dictate whether or not they want to stay in those roles, but it would be great to see wouldn't it? I mean if they could pull that off I think that would increase an already huge following.

I hadn't even thought of the slow flyout, but I'd rather have him closer to earth, as it were. I don't really want a quick fly-by that goes to black unless we've already seen the first front-page headlines and such, because elsewise, I'd find it too abrupt and too unfinished. I haven't enough imagination, but that last shot needs to not be too fast, it needs to be something where one image can stick in the viewer's mind and carry oomph.

I just hope they use a different style of flying next time. What they had last time worked for Kal-El, but would be unsuitable for Superman. It was robotic and totally lacking in grace or beauty.

My main speculation is that Lana will know the thecret-- for a few episodes. She won't know forever. Clark will realize for the five thousandth time that she's in danger because of Lex or thecret-eating goblins or whatever the hell comes out of the monkeys in the writing room.

So what'll happen to make her forget? Clark will ask the Martian Manhunter to zap her memories. Clark will probably even kiss her while it happens, as they pseudo-steal the Kiss of Forgetfulness for Clana. If they have any sense at all, they'll have Lana ask for this to be done, rather than just foisting it on her unawares. But I think it, or something like it, will happen. I will be watching Ugly Betty at the time.

My alternate speculation is that Lana knows the thecret and uses it for Eeevil. This would be my preference. But since it would make Lana look bad, it most likely won't happen.

Another alternate speculation is that Lana knows the thecret, and somehow miraculously proves to be a good guardian of it, and doesn't get herself killed, and the past six years of Clark moping about how he can't tell her will be trashed and pointless. There'll be nothing keeping them apart now, except for whatever arbitrary drama the Goughlar decide to introduce.

I would prefer this as well. Please no more mind wipes although now that you mention it if MM is coming back at all this may be the case. Oh.god.please.no

Yeah I hate the idea, too. To try to predict what the Goughlar will do, I just think of the ideas I hate the most.

I wish Clark and Lana would have just grown apart in Season 3, as seemed to be happening, and maybe later got to know each other as friends with realistic views of each other. But I think Al and Miles are incapable of having Clana just move the hell on. It's going to be ohnoes!so tragic! one way or the other. Either Clark is going to make this huge sacrifice or Lana is, and the point will be driven home like a nail through the head that these two are soooo in love but cannot be together.
jwm
Now that MR is "officially" declared season 7 as his last does that kill all chances for season 8?

Personally I don't see them having much left to say in a season seven, much less a season 8 so if it were up to me it would all be over. But could a season 8 be done without MR? He isn't the lead. By BadToad's screen time calculations he's already been practically reduced to the level of a supporting character.

At first I figured no way. And then I had an idea, a very bad idea of how they could continue without MR as a regular. Jump season 8 ahead in time about seven years. In other words season seven starts when Clark steps out of the fortress all supermany and we pick up getting to see where the rest of the crew winds up seven years into the future. Preferably it would be set in Metropolis and MR would show up as a guest star on occasion. They'd throw a ton of money at TW to keep him on, get rid of Lana, and hire AM and/or ED as female lead(s).

But here's the rub -- knowing the TPTB instead of settling for MR as an occasional guest star would they completely kill the franchise by using the "seven year jump" as an excuse to re-cast Lex?
radioreverie
I think there are a few viable ways for season 8 to happen without Lex...

They could send him to jail (with the idea being that he's working from the inside and it's only a matter of time before he gets out)...

He could disappear... Go underground, start to gather forces... One day he'd just be gone: the mansion would empty, labs would be empty, factories would be empty... There would be rumors of men that look like Lex in Siberia. In Brazil. In Mongolia. And then, in the series finale, Lex would come back so that we get the reveal that he really has assembled the Legion of Doom.
scout1279

I don't know that MR would really even want to be an occassional guest star. Shaving his head really does inhibit his ability to get other work, so would he want to do it for something tat wasn't a steady gig. I remember when Spike was movied from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Angel, the initial plan was only to have James Marsters be an occassional guest star, but he said he couldn't really afford to be bleaching his hair every few months since it took longer than that to grow out.

They could send him to jail (with the idea being that he's working from the inside and it's only a matter of time before he gets out)...

I think this would be terrible. He's not that kind of Lex Luthor. He's supposed to become president. He can assemle the Legion of Doom after that, but I would be so disappointed if they tried to shoe horn the character into the Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey mold. He's already a better villain than either of those versions (which is sad, since he's kind of ineffectual).

I really don't think we're going to get any time leap or shift to Metropolis for season 8. For onr thing, I don't think they'd be allowed to have Clark actually be Superman. For another, the show's called Smallville. It doesn't make sense to take it out of the setting it's named after, and changing the name would be pointlessly confusing to viewers, especially if it's only for one season.
Tzigone
I don't want a time-shift (or a season 8), but I do want to see more stories in Metropolis. The method used for keeping everyone in Smallville is really forced and awkward. Especially with all the back-and-forth that comes with having the DP involved. Ah, driving 12 hours a day.
Scry
If they absolutely have to do a season eight without Michael Rosenbaum, then...

Tom Welling as Clark Kent
Erica Durance as Lois Lane
Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen
Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan
Annette O'Toole as Martha Kent
Michael McKean as Perry White

Assume that Lionel's been killed and Erica/Aaron's episode count has been upped to 22. Michael McKean would have 13. Feature several multi-episode villains (Lobo, Mxy, Brainiac, etc.) throughout the season, and, well, you know what? You just cannot have a series finale without MR. So, bring him back for the last 4-5 episodes for a mini-arc. Where's he been? Um, prison. For killing Lionel. :)

But I don't want a season eight.
Massena1
That show sounds awful.

They shouldn't go on without Michael Rosenbaum.

It will stink to high heaven and it is no longer Smallville. It'd be some other show - some much suckier show.
hodl2003
Bumping this thread, 'cause I forgot it about it.
Cyb - I'm not going to repost all of your spec, but the first paragraph positively scares me because of it's potential to be spot on.

Correction: not potentially...but actually reflects the last three episodes...
Cyb
hodl2003, I'm still waiting to see if Lana comes back next season with convenient amnesia after her car explodes. I'm guessing Clark won't be behind the amnesia after all but I'm still holding out hope (dread) that MM will be involved.

So it's almost the end of S6. How many of everyone's pre-season speculations came true? Here are a few I found of mine:

Here's where I said that I thought Clark and Lana would be further apart but that TPTB would want to have their cake and eat it too, by still making Clark into Lana's backup boyfriend somehow. This was too easy I don't even know if it could be called speculation. Predicting the worst when it comes to Clana is like shooting fish in a barrel with a shotgun.

This was my speculation for Zod but it sorta came true for Nemesis. (The part about Lana rushing up to Clark but reluctantly going off with Lex.)

Back in December 2005 I hoped they would make Lana be openly scheming, but felt they would still have her miraculously be a martyr. Again, fish/barrel. When given a choice, TPTB will just about always pick victim-martyr Lana. I was just wrong about the part where she agrees to Clark's proposal to find out the thecret. I never imagined it would be as bad as the wine cellar trick.
Dread
I didn’t do so well with my prediction for Clark-Chloe-Lana triangle and angst galore. Frankly, I’m surprised the producers passed up the opportunity for so much misery. But I think my pet Super Plot Monkey Beppo did pretty well, aside from the Lex/politics prediction. And the pink cloud turned out to be a fiery SUV, but I still remain confident she will return to grace Smallville once again with her presence.

Zod will be beaten by giant unknown and never mentioned again plot device.

Lex not remember anything. Lex not get security. Lex luv Lana… geez… Lex get dumber every year. In fact, Beppo hear it from good source that Lex spend much time in politics again. This time, trying to win the paper crown of local Burger King. Sadly, he lose fight to a five year old having birthday party. Beppo sad for Lex.

Clark get new power to blow. Hmm… Beppo thought he did that with Lex for years, but what do I know. Clark also luv Lana. Make sad eyes every other episode to crappy CW emo music that AlMiles pimp at end of show. Make Beppo want to throw poop at TV. And Clark also probably throw lots of people, and look at more green rocks that make him sick.

Chloe have wonderful life and adventures every day in Offscreenville. She spend time on Smallville out of plot doing reporter stuff or googling stuff for Clark or getting marginalized for eventual write off.

Lois show up… say unfunny things in loud voice reminding Beppo of time he step on tail of Thanagarian cat. Probably get new job as Vice President handed to her. Maybe only strip on weekends then.

Lionel… he no have much to do. Maybe show up to class up more bad rip offs of good movies. Or maybe he and guest start John Schneider team up for remake of bad movie Dukes of Hazard.

Lana worshipped by all. Survive mighty Zod. Be frigid with Lex. Pout about secrets and lies. Storm out of conversations. People still love her. Lana probably stomp on 100 puppies and people still love her.

In series finale, Lana probably ascend to heaven on pink cloud while billions wait for her to grace us again with her return. Beppo need shower now.
DarkPriestess
Be frigid with Lex

Ha! Gods forbid Lana feel lust with anyone other than Clark. Only Clana lust is pure and right (and strangely passionless). All other sex and desire is icky and wrong.

Your predictions were pretty damn accurate Dread! What does Beppo see in store for everyone next season?
Cyb
Speculations for the beginning of next season:

Clark and Lionel "Good Guy Emissary My ass!" Luthor work together to fight Bizclarko. But how can they fight him? He has no weakness to plot rocks! If only they had an army of superstrong soldiers... Wait a minute! They do have an army of superstrong soldiers!

Lionel knows enough about the project to know that he needs bodily fluids from an alien to fuel them. So Clark has to donate. Shirtless. (So keep up the workout routine over the summer, Welling!) Clark notes the bitter irony. "Ollie and I have been trying to stop Lex's army all year, and if we'd succeeded, we'd have no way to fight my hot, crackly clone!"

Fortunately, since the army is now fuelled by Clark's fluids, they're all magically good, because nothing like a hot Clark injection to turn a man straight...I mean "good." Unfortunately, after they kill off Bizclarko, they all self-destruct in agony over Lana's "death." Fortunately, it means there's no massive clean-up of AWOL supersoldiers. Unfortunately, it means Lex has no more hotpants playmates.

But Lex is in jail making new friends. Lionel springs him out ("Aw, dad, cell block C was just about to have a tickle fight !") because he knows Lex didn't kill Lana. Lionel says he killed her himself. "She made you weak, Son! Also, she kept stealing your nuts. And I don't mean your almonds." Meanwhile, Clark distracts Lois with another flying barndoor, grabs Chloe, and takes her to the FOS to be healed.

Shelby runs away from home to be adopted by a family who plays with him all the time.

My Spec...

Lois being the only person alive, writes about what happened at Reeves Dam. She gets a gig at the DP jumping over Chloe who is, recouperating post magic tear. Clark goes after bizClark and Lex stays in jail just as long as a copy of Clark that can fly is loose. Yeah, its a no brainer but thats all I got.
gobatara
I don't think Lois is going to enter to the DP until Perry appears again, isn't always Lois entering to the DP by PW's hand??? Unless that thing happens Offscreenville which I doubt cause that is suppos to be e big momment Perry giving Lois a job. JMO
Liv06
Cyb, LOL! Yes, Clark's fluids are important that we ever realized. And more, flying barndoors, yeah, I'd have to agree with that too.
Dread
Without further ado, my- I mean Beppo's predictions for season 7.

Beppo: Beppo Super Plot Monkey make predictions for Season 7! Me also make poop. Somehow me think making poop will be much better entertainment than season 7. It certainly beat Season 6. Season 6 worse than time Beppo got into Dread’s liquor cabinent. At least then, Beppo’s pain only last 24 hours. Season 6 pain last 22 weeks! EEEEEK!!!

Here are predictions for even worse Season 7:

Bizarro die in first episode never to be heard from again. Like Zod, but even more pointless. Bizarro not even mentioned rest of season. Bizarro like Pete. And Alicia. And Raya. And Caves. And Octogon. And Jason. Beppo sense trend.

Lex become more pathetic than usual when Project Ares renamed Project Lana. Project Lana make Lana or Lana clone rise from dead and make Beppo cry. Maybe Lex make extra Lana for Clark. Then they never be enemies. They both act like pathetic douchbags pining and kneeling at feet of great Pink Lana Clones. Too bad.

Level 33.1 plot also go away. No mention of captured mutants. Chloe Mom also go away when AlMiles too dumb to resign Wonder Woman for extended deal and she gets added to next season of Heroes where she play long lost Petrelli aunt.

Clark pine and mope for dead Lana for months. He pine and mope longer than when Dad died or when wife died. Course that not hard since Clark only mope for dead blonde girl til end of episode. Clark fall for Lana clone or find that Lana really survived and live in Wichita. Clark make frequent trips to new set where he whisper lots of stupid things and look sad and wistful. He look sad so much he make Spiderman seem chipper. Make Beppo wonder if Clark grow up to be Superman or Bi-Polar Man...

Lana survive SUV explosion by escaping on Mail Truck driven by Underground Railroad and live in Wichita. Since no other boy around ,dates Pete, but keeps saying talking about Secrets and Lies until Pete go crazy and turn sort of evil. Eventually Pete become Vice President in hope that like Dick Cheney, he can shoot Lana in face with shotgun and get away with it. Beppo sympathize with Pete. Beppo tried shooting Lana with shotgun during Promise, but only destroyed Dread’s extra TV.

Chloe use magical crying power to fight crime by… okay, Beppo have no idea where the hell this is going, but Beppo pretty sure it a stupid place that only writer on Mushrooms can reach.
scout1279
Yay, Beppo!

AlMiles too dumb to resign Wonder Woman for extended deal and she gets added to next season of Heroes where she play long lost Petrelli aunt.

OK, while Beppo's predictions for season 7 are awful, this would be awesome.

I'm going to post a copy of Beppo's prediction next to the TV so that I can put a check mark next to each one as they come true. ;D

I gotta get me a monkey! Beppo left out Lois. If only the show would do the same. As that won't be the case, Lois Lane maybe you've heard of me- General Lane's daughter- will continue to write articles about abandoned military bases she has visited and gotten drunk at. Lex will abduct the second guy she kissed, who also surprisingly threw up shortly afterwards, and use him for a villianous cloning project- the difference: these clones will be in hot pink shorts and derive their abilities from um Clarks tears over the loss of Lana, whom he shall mourn all season long.

Clarks tears over the loss of Lana, whom he shall mourn all season long.

Noooooo. Not a depressed downer of a season (see"Buffy"). Even the miraculous re-appearance of pink one would be an improvement.

Ouch.

chunkeymonkey81
Next season, eh? I'll give it a go...

This is what I fear..a.k.a. what WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN....lol

Clark mopes and whines over Lana for a few episodes until...ta da!...November rolls around and he FINALLY(like..ohmygod!) finds out she is alive!! But we the audience will already know this because for the past month or so we've had to endure many scenes of Lana hiding out underground somewhere, being all mysterious and shit.

THEN Clark and Lana will have a torrid "I love you but I can't BE with you for some stupid melodramatic reason" storyline lasting till about the series finale when Clark will finally, oh, get a clue. Maybe?

Lois all the while long will continue to rise up the ranks of lightswitch! journalism all while looking FABULOUS in her Nike sports bras..until she gets a job at the DP in the series finale and Clark suddenly falls head over heels for her.

Then about this time I shoot my TV.

Lex of course will bemoan the loss of his beautiful Lana. When he finds out she is alive and--ohmygod!--kinda sorta, well maybe, is *almost* back with Clark--well thats the last straw and he finally goes, totally, officially evil. The last shot of him in the finale is him yelling in the rain, all tortured like...."Lana!!! OOh the pain! Because I lost your love I've gone insaaaaaaane!!! Lookout world!!!"

Martha will be off in offscreenville which totally kicks ass! Lucky her..everything happens there!!

Lionel will probably be dead....

And Chloe...ooooh poor Chloe. All I can say is that she is just probably gonna get screwed....just friggin screwed!

What I WANT to happen?

Clark becomes SUPERMAN already! My gosh this IS what the show is about isn't it? Don;t wait till the last ep...Oh and he GETS. THE. FUCK. OVER. LANA. Tells her to go jump off a cliff for all he cares....anything!

Lex's descent into evil(well more than he is now) has NOTHING to do with Lana....period.

Chlois. Chlois. Chlois. Chlark. Chlark. Chlark.

Nois goes off to Des Moines to run her florist shop. Or becomes a DJ. Pick one...I don't care.

Lionel dies(sorry I think it is gonna happen...and by the hands of Lex? Ooooh good!!!)

And now I am depressed thinking about what really could happen next year....*sigh*
