I'm sorry but Billy Dee as Harvey was ok. He was better than Tommy Lee by a long shot.
Yeah, unless you firmly believe, as I do, that the Keaton-less films never existed, and are all just a big figment of everyone's imagination.[/sarcasm]

I love Tommy Lee Jones, but I think he played Two-Face all wrong. He basically just did a variation of the Joker. Two-Face's personality is completely different from the Joker.
As for Jim Carrey, He seemed like he was doing his own version of Frank Gorshin's Riddler. The problem is he went too over the top. Especially towards the end of the movie. If Carrey had just used a little more restraint, he would have had the Riddler dead-on.

After his turn in Legend of the Black Pearl, Johnny Depp should play the Joker.

The junction of concepts "Jim Carrey as a comic book villain" and "restraint" are causing me severe cognitive dissonance on the order of "one hand" and "clapping". Stop the pain - don't do that again. /B-)

Finally got to see those episodes last night. So good! I loved Lex Luthor's "Oh, yes" when he finally got to use his depowering ray. Does anyone know if those effects are temporary or permanent?
I wondered about that too,
Phishtar. Also, how would the ray affect someone like Hawkgirl? Her wings are part of her and not a 'special power', so while she would be disabled, it shouldn't mean that she couldn't fly when she came to later, right?

Lex Luthor's ray also didn't force MM to revert to his true form, he remained in his humanoid costume. Besides, it also didn't explain how the JL was going to stop him from building another one: Superman sped up the process, but Luthor could presumably make another one if he had enough time.
As for the Batman movies, a huge problem is that of all the characters the Joker is the only one who really goes over the top. Everyone else is basically more serious and sinister. Schumacher should have watched the animated series: Two-Face is actually interesting instead of Joker-lite, Mr. Freeze has dialog that doesn't involve lame cliches, Ivy's more believable, etc.
Also, Batman came off very poorly in Batman and Robin. A Bat-credit card? Who the hell approved that script?

I had this conversation with my dad right after watching the episode and concluded that the ray probably sucked out the energy from the targets as well as thier powers, thus knocking them out or rem=ndering them helpless. Once they're restrained properly there will be no need to keep zapping them.

Return of the Joker? Is a Keaton like a Kryptonian?[/denial]
Seriously, all live-action Batman movies suck. And Keaton's was the best of them, but he sucked too. He would have been a fine Clark Kent, but he was no Bruce Wayne.
I was hella pissed that the best Bruce Wayne I've seen was actually a Lamont Cranston, in
The Shadow. His New York was the best Gotham, too. Very irritating.

I have to agree with Daisy. How sad is it that the animated Batman flicks are the ones that take them seriosly and the Live action movies are the cartoonish Dreck?
The first two Btaman movies were OK (Except for Catwoman's 9 lives and Bruce being ugly and sleeping upside down). But Keaton was just playing Bruce Wayne, not Batman.
Ugh. Just checked the YTV website. They're airing Maid of Honor, again.

I always had a soft-spot for Penguin, but I never thought that he was played well by Danny Devito. DV's character was OK, but not really the traditional Penguin. Burgess Meredith's Penquin was fun, but not very menacing.
I like the recent Canon-version of Penguin as a secret villain, and high-society restraunteur-impressario. Like Lex Luthor, to the average man on the street he's one of the good-guys; versus Joker's "obviously" not-right. In a way, Penguin should have been an evil-version of John Steed....erudite, charming, and thouroughly ruthless. A Thomas Crown...with henchmen...who does it because he can and enjoys it; not because he needs the money of has a score to settle.
He's what Bruce Wayne might have wound-up as if Bruce didn't have the burning need for vengence to provide some "balance" to his madness.

Feb 4, 2004 @ 2:09 am
Booster Gold? Does that mean appearances by Blue Devil and Gypsy? Yu know, if you're going to grab a character from that era it has to be Guy Gardner the dropout of the Green Lantern Corp. Unlike most people who were booted out of organizations because of their bad attitude, he didn't turn over to the darkside out of bitterness, but just put on a pair of blue jeans to fight crime with, he simply complained more.

That is Brad Garrett. He did such a good job on Superman: TAS they decided to get him back. The thing that I find impressive is that Ssavage is voiced by Jackie Chiles himself, Phil Morris. I hadn't realized he could sound so menacing.
I'm not sure why these producers seem to think that there have to be two major villains in every Batman film. It's kind of a waste if one only shows up for a brief cameo. Besides, it's not like the live action Batman movies with two main villains have set the standard for success. Of course, I think part of the problem is that they always have the two teaming up. I think one common trait for all of these folks is a huge ego: I don't think two primary villains would work well together. See the animated World's Finest for a classic example. BTW, that's a decent way to get Batman and Superman together.

Well, in all fairness, I don't think Justice league really started being well-written until it's second season. But watching the first season in reruns, I think it also might be that the program should be aired in an hour-long format. Also, it didn't feel as organic. The Superman animated series had sucha great, slow, steady, and smooth means of introducing heavies.

Sort of.
There's a hawkman in it named "Hro Talak", a clever-clever anagram of "Katar Hol", so they get to have "Hawkman" on the show without tying themselves down to the idea of the Hawkman as a villain. And in other news, Warren Ellis has confirmed that he has written an episode for the third season, which is cool; also cool is the new assortment of

Superman: Hmmm, sounds like you've worked very hard on it. Have you found a cure for Kryptonite poisoning?
PEH: Better! It's your own personal missle launcher!
S: ...
PEH: A huge missle launcher.
S: For me...
PEH: For you!
S: Prof, have you even tried looking at a cure for Kryptonite?
PEH: Who needs a cure? You could blow up any Kryptonite! With the missle! No one messes with a mizzle foh shizzle!
S: Listen, I don't like to toot my own horn, but I am the strongest living being on the planet. I crush missles like styrofoam. Essentially, you're equipping me with Nerf.
PEH: Not nerf, missles!
S: Couldn't you have designed a weapon for The Flash? Or Batman? Or anyone with short range powers and a lack of super strength?
PEH: You mean you don't like it?
S: It's not that I don't like it...
PEH: *tears well up, lips quiver*
S: ...because I do like it. A lot! I love it! Give it here! I'll try it on. Yeah, I'm looking sharp!
