No Clancy Brown as Lex in Superman: Doomsday?! This makes me sad.
Harrison Fjord
James Marsters was better than he had any right to be, though.

Unfortunately, in an act of dramatic karma, Adam Baldwin was not as good as I had hoped. He was more convincing than Dean Cain, but he lacked the vocal charisma of even Tom Welling or Brandon Routh and certainly had nothing on Tim Daly and Christopher Reeve.

Anne Heche was just... her mediocre self.

And I agree, Lex is HoYaytastic. It's a shame the movie is so uneven. I loved parts of it (Lois confronting Martha was very well done, even on Anne Heche's part), and others were just frustratingly unsatisfying. And the third act overall was just meh. I wasn't expecting "Reign of the Supermen" (though I was hoping for it), but even knowing it wasn't going to happen, what they gave us was not very good.
Colonel Green
On a related note, here's a longer version of the New Frontier promo I posted a while ago; it's got the same footage, but with a lot of extensions (several minutes' worth), including dialogue from MacLachlan, Lawless, and Boreanaz (he has the inherent wooden-ness to play Hal Jordan).
Kris_AB
Rented Superman: Doomsday the day it came out, went in with realistic expectations, and was surprised at how much I liked it. Must comment now after delaying a few days, or should this be discussed in the S:TAS thread ?

I saw the [unintentionally] gay subtext at first with Lex and Super-clone in the red solar light room and thought the writers might actually be going there, even if only implied...but it makes perfect sense, the whole "Who's your daddy!" line, once you're made aware that Lex is more or less the "father" of the clone(s). It doesn't make the line any less HoYay-interpretable though, I'm not sure how you could. It's just an awkward line in any situation though, and really way past its best before date.

Clark's chin is a little distracting. Nice that they tried to give him a little more of a distinctive face, but....meh.

Cree Summer's voice acting sounded almost exactly like her Batman Beyond Max voice...so Mercy wasn't nearly as cool as she was in S:TAS and Justice League.

I really like this design of Jimmy. The voice actor did a good job too, though no more or less of one than the previous Jimmy.

Lex is a little scrawny for my liking, but James Marsters did very well with the performance and that completely sold me on this film/continuity's version.

Was Doomsday partly robotic or had some cybernetic enhancements or something ?

The animation work on Lois when she's breaking down in front of Martha on the farm was beautifully done, so convincing. The actors nailed that scene too. I actually though Anne Heche did a great job as Lois (though she sounded almost exactly like Dana Delaney in certain parts--especially when Lois was getting snippy with anyone or ordering someone like Jimmy around). As for the new design on the character, despite initial complaints that she looked like a teeny bopper, I think a lotta folks were basing that on the bits they were seeing from the trailer. It works fine when seen throughout the entire film. I did like the comparatively more full-figured design of S:TAS/Justice League Lois (which is a joke, given the wisps most female characters are in the Timm-verse), but slap different colored hair on that character and she could've passed for a whole lotta other women in the DCAU. This Lois is a little more unique in her look.

Okay, biggest "holy fuck!" moment of the film had to be Lex offing Mercy.

Anti-abortionists could've had a field day with this one if the real Clark had offed all those clones instead of Clone-Clark doing it. What would Clark do in a situation like that ? Probably grow them all to maturity and find homes for 'em ? The clone thing reminds me of how we got Bizarro in S:TAS, which Bruce Timm admits to recognizing in the commentary, though he maintains they did it better here in Doomsday.

Heh, I spotted a Brainiac skull. And the space suit from S:TAS.

While I'm fine with Bruce Timm and his crew doing standalone films, there is absolutely no reason this couldn't have been tweaked a line here or there and made to fit within DCAU continuity. Or if they'd vagued it up a little. If Lex and Lois' designs plus most of the voice actors had stayed the same, it would've worked great as a S:TAS or Justice League film.

The movie is moving forward.
"Happy Feet" director George Miller is in talks to bring the superheroes of the "Justice League of America" comic books to the big screen.

While details about the script are being kept close to the vest, it is known that Warner Bros.' live-action movie will feature such A-listers as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, the Flash and Green Lantern as well as the Martian Manhunter.

Preparations are being made to shoot to the movie in Miller's native Australia.
Cypher21
This Justice League movie is going to suck big time. First, I can't see how they will be able to use Bale as Batman in this movie, b/c it won't be the same character as in the Nolan films, two different characters, two different paths. I think they could use Routh as Superman, but then again you have to deal w/Singer and any development in his films many not come across in the other, or vice versa. If they are going to use the big guns like WW, GL, Flash, and Aquaman, they need to wait till they are established in their own films. This will never get pulled off, ever imo.

DC won't let them ruin this franchise much less let negative backlash effect their other properties. I know DC is wanting their own "X-Men" but the difference b/t the two teams/movies, is outside of comic fans, nobody knew who the members of the X-Men were, unlike the JL where the big guns are well known, and need to have an detailed backstory laid out for these versions of the characters.

The only way I can see a JL film coming to big screen is if they bring the Bruce Timm big 7 to the screen which would be awesome, just imagine the possibilities. It could even take place before Starcrossed and JLU.

They're not using Bale; he's not interested, anyway. Routh apparently isn't going to be used either.

As for everybody else, apparently one of the big factors in wanting to make this movie is that every other film project they have is afflicted with terminal project inertia, and they're hoping that a successful JLA film will lead to spin-offs for Wonder Woman, the Flash, etc.
The only way I can see a JL film coming to big screen is if they bring the Bruce Timm big 7 to the screen which would be awesome, just imagine the possibilities.

"They're trying to make us pay for something we used to get on TV for free!"

As to the movie, I'd say keep the cast really small (I'd say Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and whichever Green Lantern), and it could work.
I know DC is wanting their own "X-Men" but the difference b/t the two teams/movies, is outside of comic fans, nobody knew who the members of the X-Men were, unlike the JL where the big guns are well known, and need to have an detailed backstory laid out for these versions of the characters.

Er, logically, wouldn't having everyone know who the characters are make it much easier to make a team-up film, because you wouldn't need as much explanation? Hypothetically, leave the more detailed backstory for spin-offs; for JLA, you need just need to know their powers and mindsets.
Kris_AB
Far as the live-action Justice League film goes, I think if they can effectively introduce seven members in a three-parter (approximately 66 minutes) in the Timm-verse and tell a decent action/sci-fi story in that limited amount of time, they shouldn't have much problem doing it in what will probably be a 2 hour film. Not every character will get ideal face time, maybe one character will have to be picked to be the focal point (as J'onn was in "Secret Origins"), and probably only a few of them will receive any character development or emotional scenes (this is of course assuming that Warner Brothers doesn't plan on making this entirely one gigantic slug-fest)...but at least Superman and Batman are popular enough that they won't have to waste time on origin stories/background exposition for them.

As for the Justice League animated film promo reel on the "Doomsday" DVD...looks interesting and it's encouraging that it has the comic book creator's full support. I dunno about silver age nostalgia, but we'll see...

"This Little Piggy"
Greatly amused by the Diana-pig deflecting bullets when the butchers got real fed up with trying to catch her.

Shame they couldn't get Julie Brown back to play Zatanna, I liked her performance better in Batman:TAS and overall the portrayal of Zatanna just worked better for me there. But I guess Jennifer Hale did a good job too.

So...did they just let Circe keep all those dudes she'd kidnapped and was keeping as both pets and an audience ? It's implied Wonder Woman flew off to fight her once she gets turned back, but no real resolution was given. Guess I'll just have to assume...and huge confrontational fights wasn't really the point of the episode anyway, so I'll just concentrate on the humor and Batman singing instead.
Vermicious Knid
I'm guessing they're going with John Stewart as GL:
The production is currently based out of Seattle, and they are searching "for the 8-9 leads for this action feature film".

What do they require? "We are looking for Male actors 18-35 years old; Caucasian and Black. The primary focus should be to find Caucasian actors. There is 1 role for the Black Actor. We are looking for Female actors 20-32 years old; any ethnicity."
cambridgeguy
I'm guessing they're going with John Stewart as GL:

They have to go with John: there are no other major black characters who fit in.

If there had never been a JL and JLU this movie would have been fine after STAS. With JL and JLU existing there's no way (and no reason) to squeeze it into continuity.
Vermicious Knid
It's definitely John. That Jessica Biehl rumor better not be true. Ugh. More purported JLA spoilers here.

"The Return"
I like Amazo, so, this was a hugely enjoyable one. Also because oit utilized so much of the League in speaking parts and likely the entire group participated.

They had Will Friedle (Terry/Batman Beyond) voice Kyle Rayner, but some other dude played him the first time around. Can't remember if that guy sounded much different. I've caught on to a few other recasts aside from him and Zatanna. I was pretty sure Professor Hamilton sounded different, yep, he's changed. They just got Phil LaMarr to vary his John Stewart voice for the Steel/John Henry Irons appearances, I guess 'cause they couldn't get Michael Dorn back or couldn't afford him again.

Heh, Red Tornado gets split in half, disintigrates, and is a goner just like that...very cool...but damn it, he was a robot so I figured they could just remake him and in the commentary Bruce Timm confirms that.

Loving the inclusion of Fate throughout this series, just the way he's been integrated into the show. Becoming a fan of the character and Oded Fehr rocks (another recast, but probably for the better? I dunno, can't remember whether I was impressed with the guy who first voice him on S:TAS).

"The Greatest Story Never Told"
Booster Gold mentions Darkseid, but shouldn't he be assuming (along with everyone else, viewers included) that the ruler of Apokalips died during the events of "Twilight" ?

Heh, they got Billy West on this series (huge Futurama fan) voicing Booster Gold's little floating robot assistant.

"Ultimatum"
Feeling a little tired of clone stories lately, but thrilled that they got CCH Pounder to play this Amanda Waller character. She rocks in live action TV (The Shield).

The arc is coming together beautifully.
Cypher21
From what I read of the maybe script, it reminds me of the storyline "Starcrossed" from JL.
bursell
Booster Gold mentions Darkseid, but shouldn't he be assuming (along with everyone else, viewers included) that the ruler of Apokalips died during the events of "Twilight" ?

Booster's from the future, so he knew that Darkseid survived. Or something...
TimeMonkey
How widespread would the death of Darksied be? It's not like the League could go home and say they killed him since that would be somewhat frowned on.
Kris_AB
Good points, both. And I suppose if Booster did know that Darkseid survived and ever talked to Superman about it, Clark wouldn't be all that surprised. Would probably get the same shrugged response as Brainiac always coming back. It happens with most of his villains, it seems, whereas Batman's occasionally die permanently.

Why would the League allow Booster Gold to stick around in the past like that, seeing as he could seriously fuck with the timeline in his quest for fame ? Is he stuck in the present day, or can he go back any time he likes ? If they didn't tolerate intruders like Chronos in "The Once and Future Thing" 2-parter (who, to be fair, turned out to have more sinister intentions), then why give Booster special treatment ? What's the excuse in the comics ? He does more good than harm ? He has enough knowledge of history that he can avoid effecting anything major ?

"Wake the Dead"
Brining Grundy back just to kill him again was sort of annoying, but what it meant for Shayera worked fine, I guess.

Those kids who did it--I guess the lead one was killed when Grundy's fist came through his bedroom door and crushed his head. Actually, there've been a lot of almost-on-screen-deaths lately, what with the rockclimber boyfriend and various soldiers in "Dark Heart" and the inevitable deaths of the Ultramen in "Ultimatum".

I knew Vixen sounded familiar--Gina Torres! She did well too.

"The Once and Future Thing"
Heh, I liked the twanged up version of the JLU theme song within the episode.

Jonah Hex, and a yonger one at that, voiced by Adam Baldwin no less. Timm's picked favorably from the Whedonverse (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) so far, though I gotta wonder at how David Boreanaz will do with Green Lantern in the Justice League direct-to-DVD. I liked Adam's performance, the recasting doesn't bother me as much as Zatanna's and, much further back, Barbara Gordon's. Melissa Gilbert, the original, is my favorite Batgirl, though the late Mary Kay Bergman who voiced her in SubZero--and who was awesome in other stuff like the first three seasons plus big screen film of South Park where she did nearly all the female voices--did very well too. Tara Strong, the most recent and longest performing Batgirl, was effective sometimes, I felt. But not as good as those first two Not sure who I prefer of the Batman Beyond Barbaras...probably Stockard Channing's.

Too bad neither Hex nor Bruce find out how connected they both are/will be, by way of Ra's Al Gul and his incompetent son.

Robots, dinosaurs, mech-suits, cowboys, and superheroes. Part 1 was nuts, but huge fun. All it needed was ninjas and pirates !

Grrr, Static is in this but I haven't been introduced to his character yet because there're no Static Shock season DVD sets out (none for The Zeta Project either). The JLU/Static Shock crossover is in-continuity then, the one where they visit his turf ? Only read about it, haven't seen it. I wasn't sure.

On the plus side, Terry and the 2050 version of the League ! Including...John's son ? Which is awesome seeing as War Hawk was already introduced in BB's "The Call", not to mention it makes perfect sense.

Cool, they even brought Melissa Joan Hart back to voice the Dee Dee twins like she did in Return of the Joker.

Peter MacNicol was fun as David Clinton/Chronos. MacNicol's always good.

Even though the slate was wiped clean, it was awesome to sort of have a new Batman Beyond episode.

Seemed like they might've killed Terry off when the Dee Dee's performed a rack-like stretch-'til-you-break move on him, with a brief but perfect little grief scene with future-Bruce. Good thing time was set right, that would've been a shitty way to end that character, I actually really liked Terry most of the time throughout his series.

There's never been any explanation; he just is allowed to stay. As for knowledge of history, it's more that he's completely ignorant of history, and so has no real idea what's going to happen from day to day. Skeets is often shown to have a database full of historical data, but this is inconsistently applied.

I loved the first half of "The Once and Future Thing", what with the Justice Riders and the robot dinosaurs (my favourite moment is Diana's incredibly bored attitude while dispatching their would-be robbers when they first arrive).

And Jessica Biel? Yeah, that'll never work. Find someone with talent, please; Diana's been through enough indignities lately.
MusexMoirai

Booster's memory of past events is as inconsistent as Skeets' files. He usually has no convenient foreknowledge until it's needed for dramatic or plot purposes. I think they retconned it somewhere (maybe in Countdown to Infinite Crisis in one of the Blue Beetle's inner monologues) that Booster knew Doomsday was strong enough to "kill" Superman but still went ahead and tried to assist the Justice League in fighting him anyway. It was cited as an example of why Booster's braver than most people give him credit for.

In the recent 52 miniseries, it's a major plot point that Booster definitely knows what's going on. He freaks the heck out when the Big Three don't show up for a schelduled public appearance he remembers them having. It pretty much clues him in that someone's messed with the timeline and the rest of his subplot's dedicated to time-traveling shenanigans in order to restore the past and future he knew.
Kris_AB
Huge thanks for the Booster Gold explanations and comics knowledge, both of you. The 52 weeks story that Musex Moirai mentioned, Booster's role in that sounds like an interesting way to use him and a perfect integration of what his role could/should be given where he's from.

Reading through the older posts about this first season of JLU (took me to page 47 out of 247--only 200 more to catch up !), a lot of bitching about Flash not being present (although Michael Rosenbaum reprised his role as Ghoul in Part 2 of "The Once and Future Thing" and apparently did background voice work as well). I'm missing him too so far, but I'm too distracted by everything else going on, the occasional comedy ep (hey, I liked the Justice Kids ep and "This Little Piggy") or moment (Atom: "I'm just going to lie here a while, Katie. I'm getting old, I'm tired."), and all the new characters...plus Hawkgirl's return...to stress about the Flash absence too much.

It's a different experience too, getting it all on DVD, marathoning it occasionally or just watching it whenever I feel like. On the air, with only a weekly airing plus all those breaks between seasons and blocks of episodes, I can understand how annoying it would've been for months to go by without a substantial Flash inclusion. I get why folks were impatient and more than a little worried at first that he might not come back in any worthwhile way (while we're on the subject, it really sucks what they've done with J'onn--he gets good lines and little scenes sometimes though).

The missing Flash was irritating because after the whole Justice Lords thing established that without him around you get fascism, it seemed important that we weren't seeing him as much.

The League does start to act somewhat like the Lords do. They just never get too far down the path before something brings them all together again. I think that becomes very clear around the ending of the season as the League starts to act more and more like they know best.
LTG
One thing they never explained in the Justice Lords eps is what happened to all the other heroes? Did they all go along with the plan? Or did the Justice Lords kill/imprison some or all of them?

In the Crime Syndicate comic book stories that were the original inspiration for the Justice Lords, they established that the evil versions of the League heroes had killed or imprisoned most of their evil competition (that is, people who were heroes in our world) as well as their good opponents (that is, people who were villains in our world).

Jessica Biel passed on Wonder Woman for the new JL movie. There is a God. I wish they would cast someone older, and preferably not named Jessica.

I would be completely on board with that. The youngest actor I want them to cast is Ryan Reynolds for the Flash.
Colonel Green
Whoever they cast, it should be someone with a classical appearance (the problem I always had with people who wanted Charisma Carpenter is that it's hard to imagine someone more modern than her). Catherine Zeta-Jones is the template I've always used, although she's a bit too old at this point.

Yeah, it's in its own continuity, which is why Superman tries to cure cancer with his robot pal in his spare time and why he and Lois have matching bathrobes.

It is confusing, though, since Bruce Timm directed the thing and made it look just like all his other work. I think that's why Superman got all those Dick Tracy lines on his face.

"The Cat and the Canary"
With a title like that, can't blame a guy for hoping for some Catwoman. She's a JL no-show though, pity. I guess she belongs in Gotham, along with Tim, Barbara, Alfred, and a number of Batman villains that would look strange being seen outside that city.

I warmed to Green Arrow a little more, but he's nothing special as a character so far. Morena Baccarin as Black Canary was fun, but not the absolute best performance by a Whedonverse actor in this franchise (that comes later) and I liked her more in later episodes (seen up to "Epilogue" now as I write this. Gonna save that final season for a bit). Black Cat, cool, but whatever. You'd think they would've learned their lesson from the poorest episodes of Justice League, "War World". But nope, they did another sort of Fight Club-styled episode. At least this one was better.

"The Ties That Bind" (aka "Miracles Happen" -- where did these subtitles/alternative titles come from ?)

That episode was so much fun, plus it delved a bit deeper into one of my favorite long-running DCAU arcs/backstories (Darkseid/Apokolips vs. Highfather/New Genesis and the whole son-trading thing). Plus it had a nice helping of Flash along with the not-quite-as-neglected J'onn.

Y'know, I like Scott Free. I like his look--nice sideburns/haircut and how his eyes actually show under his mask, instead of being just white which, although sometimes cool, makes absolutely no sense unless there's white gauze as part of the mask covering your eyes. I liked that Barda was voiced by the same actor who played her in Batman Beyond and that everyone else returned as well (Ed Asner, Michael Dorn--who I wasn't sure would be back, seeing as he didn't reprise Steel and they had Phil LaMarr try it instead).

Is Barda originally from New Genesis ? They mention Scott rescuing her from being one of Granny Goodness' slaves, but don't reveal her origin. She's still young in Batman Beyond and, due to the superstrength, I figured during "The Call" she was some sort of alien, goddess (since she was standing in for Diana there), or metahuman.

There's no mention in the epsiode about Scott Free (he wasn't really referred to as Mr. Miracle, from what I remember) being the baby traded for Orion, so I guess that piece of the puzzle left over from S:TAS is only meaningful if you've read the comics or have a message board full of DC fans to inform you.

At this point, they weren't allowed to use any Bat-characters apart from Batman himself because of The Batman; hence, for example, why they had to rewrite the Birds of Prey tribute "Double Date" to exclude Batgirl.
Michael Dorn--who I wasn't sure would be back, seeing as he didn't reprise Steel and they had Phil LaMarr try it instead

That was only because of budget; they were full up on guests for The Return, and couldn't fit Dorn in as well, so they had LaMarr do it.

Barda is a New God, but from Apokolips, not New Genesis.

Barda was a Female Fury, but Scott pitched some woo, and she joined him.

I just watched the same episodes this weekend, and I love Ed Asner as Granny Goodness. That's totally inspired casting (which I know carried over from earlier shows, but this was the first time I became aware of it).

And "The Cat and the Canary" -- I love Black Canary, and I love Wildcat, and Roulette is a villain with a really interesting backstory, but the episode still felt flat to me. Wildcat's motivation just felt off, and the idea that Roulette woud just let them leave at the end was bogus. I think this may be one of the weakest episodes of the show.
Kris_AB
The interaction between Black Canary and Green Arrow, plus the voice work from all involved, lifted it up enough to make it passable for me...but yeah, definitely one of the weaker. And I did get my hopes up for Catwoman due to the title, so there was that letdown. I wasn't aware of the no-Batman's-supporting-allowed ban until you guys told me.

"The Doomsday Sanction"
Holy shit, they brought back Dr. Milo from B:TAS. That's some beautiful continuity recall (and appropriate, given the various things CADMUS does in the arc). Fantastic ep. I get Bruce's paranoia of them ending up like the Justice Lords, I can tell Amanda Waller got to him, but sometimes his ideals go beyond reason. What the fuck was up with raking Clark over the coals regarding the decision to banish Doomsday to the Phantom Zone ? What else could they do with him ? It's gotten so far beyond ridiculous at thsi point. I know he's adamant in his no-killing, I'm-not-fit-to-play-judge/jury/executioner, I-only-round-'em-up mentality....I know his reasons for being that way. But everyone can't be saved, rehabilitated, and the worst can't even be kept behind bars effectively and for any reasonable amount of time. I guess I'm even more bothered by this in light of what happens to Tim in "Return of the Joker". There were so many times when Batman should've just let The Joker fall...or he could've let Andrea/Phantasm finish him...So there's no question that Clark made the right decision regarding Doomsday.

While it was a good episode, the scary wordless version of Doomsday in the recently titled Superman direct-to-DVD was much more effective. However, some of this Doomsday's taunts were fun and added a bit of personality to the near-unstoppable brute (a modified clone though ? Interesting take...add in Bizarro and that makes three currently living versions of Kal-El in this franchise, in one form or another).

That was a shocking image in "Task Force X", having The Annhialator rip J'onn in half. I didn't know he was so much like Clayface in that he could simply merge himself back together.

Nice to see J'onn finally kicking ass again. Maybe that's why he goes on so few missions in Unlimited--he's the Watchtower's best defence, both physically and due to being able to keep the staff honest with his telepathy. At least, when they don't have government-provided mehtods of blocking the mind-reading.
RacerX
Boomerang is driving me nuts with their rotation schedule. I don't care at all that there is a mix of JL and JLU, just widen the loop. Did they lose the rights to the earlier seasons, did they forget they had them? I am definitely thrilled they have JL on at all, but showing the same episodes over and over in such a short time period seems counterproductive.

Trade Paperbacks. The New Frontier was a limited run comic book retelling the story of the emergence of D.C. superheroes in the '50s with a modern sensibility. It touched on things like the Korean War, Jim Crow, anticommunist hysteria, and mindless conformity, all while reveling in iconic '50s design. And those comic books were collected into two TPBs.

Thanks RealChic I wasn't sure.

I wasn't all that impressed by New Frontier, honestly; Cooke's art is seriously at odds with the story, and almost none of the characters have any real role, apart from Hal (who's stuck with a bevy of really annoying phrases) and J'onn (who, to give Cooke credit, is the most interesting take on the character I've ever read).

Reports have the Green Lantern and Flash adaptations moving forward. GL will be Hal Jordan's origin story and Flash will be a spinoff of the JL movie starring whomever gets the role in that, playing Wally.

Greg Berlanti will be co-writing and directing Green Lantern (obviously this could change. See: Joss Whedon on Wonder Woman, Darren Aronofsky on Batman, Kevin Smith and Tim Burton and others on Superman, etc---all axed). I only watched the first season of Everwood (that's all that's out on DVD) a few years ago, so that's all I know of Berlanti's work, but at least it's pretty much a guarantee that the movie will have heart. Long as the studio doesn't interfere too much. Didn't expect to like Everwood as much as I did, figured it would turn out to be typical poorly written (and often acted) prime time drama sap that The WB often aired. Turns out it was a very well-written and competently acted piece (some of the cast members a lot better than others), I enjoyed the folksy tone it sometmies carried and man was it beautifully shot. And wow did I not expect an exploration of grief, loss, and the process of moving on, worthy of Six Feet Under.

Back to the cartoon.

"The Balance"
Heh, finally it's mentioned that Diana stole her armor and lasso. So much for the Annhialator being used by the government/Cadmus. Nice bit of plot misdirection after building it up in "Task Force X". Or a waste, depending on how you look at it.

If there's no more of the Greek mythology and Themyscara stuff in the last season of Unlimited, I'll be a little disappointed since the background and themes are my favorite things about Diana's character. For being one of the Big 3, she could've been explored a little more. After "Secret Origins", I was almost expecting this to be moreso her series (well, JL Seasons 1 and 2) than anyone else's, if it came down to who got the most screen time and character development. Not so much, so far.

Jason Bateman as Hermes! Nice coincidence, as I've recently started to make my way through Arrested Development and am loving it.

"Double Date"
I think maybe Amy Acker as The Huntress wins as best Whedonverse voice actor over Juliet Landau, Nathan Fillion (who was fun as Vigilante but pretty much just using his Firefly Mal voice in front of a microphone), Gina Torres' admittedly well done Vixen, and just edging out Morena Baccarin's Black Canary.

Enough with the dead-parents-create-superheroes themes already.

They actually found a real good use for Captain Marvel (Jerry O'Connell!) in "Clash".

The Balance and Double Date are two of my favorite later episodes. I think they got as much out of the Anihaltor as they could considering the League knew it's weakness.

I used to have a theory that JLU wa screating their new Big Seven with their new characters. It doesn't quite work out but it was fun the first time I was watching.
