Amy Acker's Fred and her cutey perkiness in Huntress;
... "Cute and perky" is so ridiculously wrong for Huntress though, it's, like, the exact opposite of what she should be.

Heh, so she's she (Amy Acker) is pretty wrong for the role then? I don't know much about DC universe...so, don't shoot me please for just loving Acker.

Yes, I agree that Acker's sweetness comes through a bit but I also think it works for JLU's depiction of Huntress. It's kind of a sweet snarkiness and I can buy that. But I also think she does the convey Huntress' core characterization of barely contained rage and obsession with vengeance convincingly.
Speaking of Huntress. I just re-read Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood recently and I was wondering are The Question and Huntress officially seeing each other in the comics now or was that just a one time sorta fling thing ? And was it supposed to be suggested that they slept together in that story?

Regarding Huntress and Cry For Blood:
Yeah, they hit it. It was also a one-time thing confined to that miniseries only. Which is too bad, because they play so well off of each other whenever they're paired up. I hear the Question is playing a more prominent role in OYL/52 stuff though, so who knows? Maybe they'll meet again.

Ancient History
Yeah, I agree. Meh! It seems like the producers really hyped up the quadrangle story arc, so I was really looking forward to this ep. but for the most part it was just disappointing. I think they needed to draw out Carter/Shayera story longer for this to have worked. Although, I did like the concept behind the Shadow Thief. Is this his orgin in the comics? Actually, did this ep. follow the Hawkman comics at all? Also, I really did like the Shayera "Tell me about my son" moment. Too bad we didn't get to hear Bats' response.
So, only one two-part ep. left. So sad. Being a hopeless romantic, I hope they either tie-up the Lois/Clark or the Diana/Bruce arc. I've already given up on John and Shayera. I kind of doubt they'll touch the Lois/Clark 'ship since there's that DTV Superman movie coming out this summer, but maybe...just maybe they'll let Bats have a happy ending, you know, before he breaks up with her to start that squicky relationship with Barbara.

I wasn't impressed with Ancient History. If it was the 3rd to last ep I felt it tried to conclude Hawkman Shayera when it was already concluded earlier this season. I did find it funny when past Shayera and GL died. What looked like buckets of blood on their bed panned out to be wine. Smooth.

Alive pt1
As meh as Ancient History was, this was awesome, if weird especially considering that the League only appeared for all of 15 seconds, and the rather unexpected villain selection (though when Metron popped up, I figured Luthor and the Society were in for a vastly unpleasant surprise), it was a nice and action packed ep.
Best line: Luthor: We have a little problem.
Preview for next episode looks even more awesome. Hard to see how they'll top Divided We Fall, but it looks like they're gonna give it a shot...

Alive was freakin great. They actually showed evil villians act evil. Luthor was at his best and loved the Toy Man.

I wanted to dislike Alive because it was overly action and villian centric. I still don't know who half those villians are. (And who the hell is Metron?) But the ending was so awesome, that I'm now starting to believe that this two-parter will make an appropriate finale to the series. Darkseid...yay! Looks like they're going to bring closure to their S:TAS like they did with B:TAS and Batman Beyond last season.

Loved
Alive.
Luthor is one "sick" crazy man. And Killer Frost's "one good reason" was classic. I assume they'll tell us how they survived shortly. Emergancy teleporter, maybe? As far as I know, none of the villians he showed up with have teleportation powers, so it must have been tech. And it looks like we can add
Daniel Dae Kim, voice of Metron, to the list of ex-Whedon actors who have shown up on JLU. And
Hard to see how they'll top Divided We Fall, but it looks like they're gonna give it a shot...
I honestly don't think they can top Divided We Fall; that was one amazing ep. But I still think this will be good.

I had a good feeling he was from Whedonverse but friggin LOST was all I could think of. Oh Gavin Park, how cool is thee. I love the action fight between Grood and Lex. The music had me pumping, it felt like a good action show. Btw, who is Metron?

Just watched "Flash & Substance" on Cartoon Network (U.S.). Not much notice of this... gee CN, good way to promote a returning show after a loooooong absence. Or not. And this seems exactly like the end of episode -- cheesy as hell -- that CN would intentionally choose to begin with, or, errr, re-begin with, or whatever. I did love the bit about Trickster going off his meds, though. Oddly, Batman and Orion were in the position of commenting on the cheesiness. Just a little too meta for me. I prefer it more gritty and intense.
Prior to this, I hadn't seen any episodes of this series since "The Cat and the Canary" (bleh) and overall I liked B:TAS and the Superman series a lot better, but after hearing lots of good things about the latter portions of season 4, and seeing how many Whedonverse and DS9 actors and other famous voices are appearing, I'm definitely tuning in again. (Ben Browder was in one?! Jason Bateman?! Jeremy Piven?! Damn!) That's the only upside to having a completely ridiculously overcrowded roster of characters, I think.

The promo monkeys at CN are useless.
My cable guide is showing that too. Is this the Luthor and Flash switch bodies episode? Because I absolutely loathe that plotline in anything. It's so overused and cliche.
Going from JL to JLU was the 'jump the shark' moment. They never should have gone with the giant expansion.

The plot-line is done pretty well. Its a stock story and they do it knowing its a stock story. Also, being 30 minutes, its much more action packed than most such episodes.
Besides, having Michael Rosenbaum do Lex Luthor is too meta to pass up.

Awesome way to come back...with a Flash story. Even better, they bring in Batman and Orion, the two biggest hardasses of the JLU. Only people I could see having a problem with this ep are fans of Geoff John's fleshed-out badass Rogues. This was Silver Age cheesy goodness all around, and I loved it.

Flash & Substance was channeling some serious Harvey Birdman vibes, but it wasn't half-bad action wise. Plus, we got to see everyday Wally.
Even though it was a tad corny, I thought the part with Flash and Trickster in the bar was kind of touching. At least Trickster has an excuse for running around in a goofy-ass costume.

Tonight's episode on CN was very enjoyable.
YMMV, but I thought it was great to see a Flash-centric episode.
Since, I'm not an avid reader of comics it was able to provide me with some much needed information on Flash's foes.
There were more cheese corn moments than usual and Batman seemed more crabby than normal, but I am quite satisfied with the end result.
I'm really going to miss JLU when it comes to an end.

Oh, THAT Captain Carrot. I'm sorry, I thought you meant
THIS Captain Carrot.Anyway, I liked this episode quite a bit. Kind of weird seeing the Trickster being so weak when James Jesse is actually pretty sharp in the comics, but other than that, I was amused by it and loved Batman and Orion being the grim foils. Especially near the end of the big fight scene when the Rogues think they've won, then turn around see non-powered Batman standing there as the real big threat.
I'm just happy to have it back finally!

So...um, while the show was out... did it turn into 'The Tick'? (and playing the part of Tick tonight, the Flash?)
Really, between the lamest super-villains ever and the over-jokiness of Wally, it was like a good episode of 'The Tick'!
Batman was like Die Fledermouse and Orion was Arthur. Hee!

Wally has a day job? And Barry Allen's old job no less. Why? Don't they wonder when he disappears for days?
This was amusing but seems a bit weak for one of the final shows, ever. Orion was awfully random for this kind of thing. The pose with boomerangs facing off against batarangs was cute. It was like a series of connected comedy sketchs rather than a story.

Mirror Master was voiced by Alexis Denisof, another Whedonverse alum.
Interestingly, Mark Hamill also played the Trickster in the '90s live-action Flash series.

And they based his costume (and the hair!) on the TV version, not the comics version. I gotta give Hammill credit for managing to not make the Trickster's voice sound like the Joker's. He did a fantastic job with it.
I've never heard Denisof's voice with an American accent, and I'm sad to say, I kinda hate it. Screwily enough, he sounds like an Englishman doing a really bad Mid-Western American accent. I wonder if his regular speaking voice has a different regional accent, like Yankee or Southern.
I thought the episode was a lot of fun. And it was nice to see that Wally is really a pretty nice, selfless guy, and not just a goofy jackass.

I was surprised too. They used the original Mirror Master, Sam Scudder who was from Kansas. If they went with the current one, Evan McCollach who is Irish. It would have probably came off a lot better. I mean if they can keep Captain Bomerang Australian, why couldn't they have gone with the Irish Mirror Master?

Overall, that was a fantastic episode. The interaction between Flash and Batman was amusing. And Batman obviously "gets" the Flash. He knows what makes him a great hero. (Even if Flash isn't aware of it himself)
This episode also shows why Flash is capable of carrying his own series. Too bad we'll likely never see one.
The only off-putting part of the episode was Captain Cold whooping Orion. That should not happen! The Orion I know would have broken Cold's goddamn neck for having the audacity to try and jack with him.

That was a fun little episode, and it's nice to see what makes Flash different (and in some ways better) than the Big 3. I also liked how they introduced his (possibly) future wife and included the biggies of his rogues gallery. However, I agree with everyone who said that they should have used the current Mirror Master.

Not to be nit-picky and all comics-nerdy, but I believe the current Mirror Master is Scottish, actually.
And yeah, I kept wondering about that too. Seems like the second Mirror Master has it all over the first as far as the comics go, so why not use him in the episode? Then again, considering my comment on James Jesse, maybe they really did want to aim for the Silver Age Flash with the sensibility of Wally.

Hammil's voice work is always amazing. Good to hear him again on Justice League since the Joker's now off limits to them.
I'm glad they didn't just make trickster another Joker ripoff.
I like the Flash episodes mainly because he's one of the few DC characters that has any personality.

Ha! I love the fact that Wally has his boss okay the 1/2 day he's taking off as if it were an unusal thing. I think Wally as the police station mechanic works better for JLU's characterization of him. You'd think that Mr. Frensic would have better investigation skills when out on JLU missions. But, hindsight and all that and the fact that the creators probably hadn't already decided on Wally's civilian life details until they wrote this ep.

This episode was okay, the best so far of this season I believe, but the season has to get better..........I hope. Honestly the best part of the show for me was Batman, he makes the episode even when it is a brief appearance. I wish they would go back to the BTAS when the series ends, it was just so successful and they need to go back to explore it more properly. I did like Orion's appearance, even though he was out of place it seemed and a little powered down as well. It did feel like an episode of the Tick, especially the Flash/Trickster part in the bar.
I was very dissapointed in Alex Denisof's voice work as Mirror Master, the very first set of dialogue in the beginning of the episode was his actual American voice. The rest, i don't know where it was coming from b/c the voice was all over the place, each scene it was like a new voice for the guy.

Ain't It Cool News said that there was a Barry Allen cameo "...if you look for it. And want it to be bad enough. He's never really identified as such.. but I think we all know." Do you think it could be Wally's unnamed boss? I'm not familiar with the Flash comics to know.
On the whole, I liked this episode. Lots of LOL moments. I like how Flash has essentially the same personality both in and out of the costume. He knows everyone by name, and knows the best way to deal with his villians.

This episode felt a lot like a stealth pilot for a Flash animated series. It would never happen, of course, since CN is doing its best to drop all non-anime programming, but it was still a nice look at the much more innocent world of the Flash. His villains come across as tamer versions of Batman's, generally more concerned with making money than with killing people.
As for Orion's presence, part of me thinks that the only reason to have him here is to set up a more relevant appearence later on. It's been quite a while since he's had anything to do (Twilight), so this may serve to help reintroduce the character to viewers who may have forgotten about him.

I loved the scene with the Flash and Trickster in the bar. It was touching, and really showed that the Flash is a simpler hero. And I totally loved Hamil's voice, he hit it perfectly.
The Flash is often protrayed as immature (he is) and useless (he's not). He is one of the most powerful characters in the series, and am glad he's finally being highlited a little bit, at least.
Great Brain Robbery: This ep showed Luthor being a serious threat with the Flash's powers, and people being terrified of him getting out. That's the way it should be. Like GL said, Flash doesn't do a lot of things, because he understands the damage he can do to the world around him. I also loved the scene with Lex in Flashs body in the bathroom, trying to find out the secret identity: "I have no idea who this is!" LOL, useful sometimes to be unimportant in the world.
Is the rumours of a possible Flash series legit, or just speculation on some fans part?

Captain Cold,

Mirror Master are all Flash baddies, usually teaming up in groups to try and beat him. There's an unspoken rule to have no more than six baddies in a team at one time.
