Plastique and Captain Atom (who had a relationship in the comics for a while)...
Actually, last time Plastique was mentioned in the comics she and Cap Atom were still married, so I assume they still are.
I really like how they're building this up but Cadmus can't one, the Justice League maybe acting a little to big for their britches but when push comes to shove they're still the good guys.
I continue to hate the fact that they keep showing JL members like Atom Smasher, Vigilante and Shining Knight in fight scenes and still can't be bothered to give them any lines at all. You don't have to hire a "name" actor for every voice, I know a lot of the pro voice actors like have dozens of voices they can perform.

Well if they are she'd be a widow, cause Captain Atom died a while back.
I liked the episode. I'm really happy they used Deadshot (though with a Suicide Squad episode you almost have to). It was kind of nice to route for the bad guys in this one.

He's still alive. If you're referring to that Superman/Batman story where he flies that robot into the meteor, all he did was leap forward in time. Every time Captain Atom absorbs too much energy, he shunts forward into the future. He was already seen alive again a couple times since that storyline. [/deargodi'mageek]
They're still married too, though I can't imagine how they're happy since he has no genitals.
And poor Juliet Landau. After hearing Tala Queen of Evil, I realized between Tala's Russian(?) accent and Drusilla's British one, JL must have an awful time getting recognized using her real voice.
Wasn't Michael R. doing the voice of the mustache guy?
Yup, that was Rosenbaum as Deadshot by way of Kevin Spacey.

Still can't believe that the JLU would need a support staff.
Having spent a good part of my employment in admin positions, there's no way an organization the size of the JLU could function without supporting staff. Although maybe a smaller one than what was depicted here. The pay must be good, and how many people can say they work in space?
I wasn't very engaged in this episode. Eh, I'm just tired of this incarnation. Just blow the whole thing up and go back to a core group.

The fight scenes owned! They were much more rough and visceral than we've seen in the earlier episodes. Much of that is because it had more normal humans than superhumans. As opposed to all superhuman battles where we see more super-powers being used than actual hitting.
The one thing I don't get why steal the automaton? The League knows how it works. It won't attack as long as you don't show any aggression. If the Cadre intend to use it against the League they must have a means to alter the way it works otherwise stealing it won't do them that much good.

Both sides have to feel the same way. Otherwise, the side that lays down their arms first will get killed immediately. Of course, since the transporter works on the thing I don't know why they don't just beam it into space and send it off towards the sun.

Even if they didn't have them initially, after Cadmus was revealed you'd think that they'd take some precautions.
Batman is going to bust some asses in security.
I think J'onn has that covered. The guy looks like he's ready to crack under the strain of running the Watchtower. Being ripped apart probably didn't help his mood.

We can only hope. The episodes are ready, since Canada is several episodes ahead of the US. Currently they've got 4 episodes to go.

The comics continuity is much more deep and complex than the animated series. And the comic heroes powers are much greater or work differently than the cartoon.
I think the producers of the animated series wanted to keep the show more simple and streamlined. Trying to make an exact duplicate of the DC comic universe simply won't work. There are way too many characters, and years and years of backstory to explain. People who don't read the comics would be totally lost.

Say someone who's had very little exposure to comics wanted to dig into the DC universe (post Crisis, I suppose) to get a general idea of who's who, origin stories..etc.. what comics, websites, books..etc..would you recommend for the newbie?
DMike

This is a good rundown for a lot of characters, not all but a lot.
This has a near-complete timeline of nearly everything in the DC timeline, like literally from the Big Bang on.
This is the Wikipedia category for DC characters, but these entries can be written by anyone so I have no idea how accurate they are. Of course, there's always the
official site and its
message board, both of which can have a lot of info too (the board has sections for each title and each imprint).
Needless to say, I'm a big geek to know these kinds of things.
As for books, that really depends on what your tastes are. Lots of books have different feels to them; if you want something more mature and character-driven and don't really care about action, books from the Vertigo imprint (Sandman, Swamp Thing, Lucifer, Hellblazer, etc.) might be your thing. If you want the more standard Justice League-style heroics, then the regular team and solo books would appeal better. Then again, knowing who actually writes the books might help.
Topic? I just now realized that sleazy Prof. Milo from BtAS was the doctor who got killed by Doomsday. For some reason that makes me sad.

Forgot about that Hades bit. For the record, that's not part of any continuity I can remember. I'd go into the long origin of the Amazons as laid out in the Gods & Mortals tpb I got from the library...but to keep things short? Hippolyta created Diana from clay...solo. No Hades. And where is Ares these days? Wouldn't he make for a better villain, or do the writers want to avoid comparisons to the Hercules/Xena continuity.

I like the pairing of Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman, and it was great to see the Flash again, but the story didn't quite make sense to me.
I don't think Felix Faust deposing Hades should disrupt the balance between Chaos and Order, since it's just one evil dude replacing another evil dude while Tartarus remains in operation. This is essentially an internal power struggle, not a fundamental imbalance in the universe. Also, I assume Tartarus is only supposed to be the hell dimension for one specific pantheon, so it shouldn't be affecting magic dudes with no direct connection to the Olympians. If anything, Diana should be the one freaking out in the infirmary.
Also, I thought Sheyara acknowleged in her comeback episode that people had a right to be angry at her. I didn't see any trace of that in her reactions to Diana.

Hades was a god while Faust was just a spirit in a suit of armour. Hades might be considered an elemental power, thus when he is removed the balance is ruined and there's magical chaos. Plus Faust wasn't actualy performing any of Hades' duties, just reading.

Thanks DMike, groovydess and The Pez for the site and book recommendations. I went to my local comic book shop today and was utterly lost with all the options. I was looking for both JL/JLU/JLA and Batman comics/books and when the clerk asked what exactly I was looking for, all I could say was that I really liked the animated shows. Evidently, that's not very popular with your average hard-core comic store clerk because I was given the biggest dismissive look. Man, I must of looked like the biggest, clueless newbie. I ended up picking up the newest Batman comic "Old Friends?" and the complete collection of JLA's "Crime Syndicate of America". I really liked the Batman comic but I'm not sure I'm liking the JLA stuff. It seems a bit too gritty for my tastes.
Anyhoo, I liked last night's ep. a lot. I enjoy the fun romp eps. JLU is reminding me a lot of X-Files. We've got our on-going conspiricy/mytharc with those dashes of humor-driven stand alone eps. Good stuff.

Minoan, actually.
I've just been very unhappy with the JLU arc as a whole. The awful theme song was an omen, I tells ya! Too many cooks spoil the broth, or in this case dilute the impact of the stories. Fourth and fifth string characters are cool to spot in the background, but I don't really care when they become the focus of an episode. I really am hoping this season ends with the destruction of the present League so it can go back to a small group.

Random question about The Question: Has anyone ever seen his face?
Oh, yeah, lots of times. In fact, in "Fearful Symmetry", you get to see it briefly in the taxi, just before he starts getting manufactured-corporate-pop on the reporter's ass.
What's his story?
To refer to comic continuity, his real name's Vic Sage (well, actually, it's Charles Victor Szasz; he changed it for professional reasons), and he's a pretty successful TV reporter known for going after the harder targets. He was raised in an orphanage and traumatised by the nuns, and spent a good deal of time thereafter being a callous right-wing hardass. Until he got shot in the head. Then he understandably decided it was time for a change, and went all Zen-New-Age-hippie for a while. He was last seen in a rather wretched miniseries spouting bad poetry and talking to Metropolis lamp-posts (don't ask). Oh, and his relationship with Huntress comes from this continuity, too, though there it's a lot more complicated; as a result, they haven't really seen each other in a while, but Vic seems to look out for her when he can.
The conspiracy-theorist angle hasn't really been seen in the comics (except for in his brief appearance in Frank Miller's
Dark Knight Strikes Again, wherein he is REALLY into conspiracy theories ("My manifesto must be typed. Once you commit your thoughts to disk, the government has them"); DKSA isn't in continuity, though, so take it as you will). It probably comes, instead, from Rorschach, a character in Alan Moore's brilliant
Watchmen who was intended as a Question-analogue, and was a psychotic paranoid who spoke mostly in shorthand.
And that's probably more than anyone ever wanted to know about this fairly obscure comic character, so my geekiness and I will slink off somewhere quietly.
