...they brought in WW's shiney golden magic lasso of truth. I hate that damned truth thing.

Tough break; it's been a part of the character ever since she was created (back in 1941). And what do you mean, you hate the truth? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! (I always wanted to say that.)
TimeMonkey
And what do you mean, you hate the truth? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! (I always wanted to say that.)

I've hated it since the first time someone pointed out that everytime she used it the criminals should tell her the truth about what they're think, such as "Nice tits!", "I'd do her", and so on.

Too true...then she'd be in trouble for breaking their jaws (and other body parts). Maybe it's WW who can't handle the truth!

Starting the debate on "Hunter's Moon": somebody's head should roll for the disaster airing the thing. Argh!

It was a decent episode. It could have been stronger, but it seems that this is a 'set-up' episode for another plot thread to be taken up. It was ironic that Hro pulled the same stunt that Batman did, only to have it fail.

We seem to be in for more GL/Shayera/Vix action, which I'm not too keen on. Vixen is an awesome character, and having Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion together was a stroke of genius. Oh- Vigilante rocks beyond words. I want to see him again!

The promos were intriguing, and that last shot- where it was cut off halfway through the credits- was tantalizing. Does anybody else think that it was Hamilton torturing the Question?
Lantern7
Total shot in the dark...I have an idea for a Pixel Challenge entry. Does anybody know where I can find a pic of Elongated Man from JLU?

Google Image Search is your friend.

Note: Given the subject name, some of the results may be clearly NSFW.

I just want to say the creators made a mistake w/the expanded League b/c it is stupid to think that none of these other heroes would step in during the alien invasion or the Thanagerian invasion. Mass continuity error that the creators will never be able to mend.

Hunter's Moon spoiler: Vigilante mentions having tried to fight off the Thanagarians and having been captured and imprisoned. By implication, Thanagarians are about as nice to their POWs as you might expect.

I think we are supposed to read this that the Thanagarian's wielded enough force that they were able to subdue or fight off nost of earth's heroes. After all, the Justice League technically didn't fight off the entire invading army either, they just removed the reason the army was there and the Thanagarians left on their own.

snowcrash...I meant a pic of Ralph from the show, as opposed to in comics. I tried that route and a few JLU sites, but came up empty.

I forget...we have less than two weeks before new episodes?
MereyGB
I have a question, over the past week I've been watching JL/JLU from the beginning and I just got to JLU's "This Little Piggy". Now that ep. seemed to suggest that there's been an on-going thing between Bruce/Batman and Zatanna. Has there been any episodes (other than the B:TAS "Zatanna") or comics that dealt with Bruce/Zatanna 'ship?

IIRC, Zee was one of the women shown in the Batman Beyond episode where 'Talia' came back. The others were Selina, Andrea Beaumont, and Lois.

I like to ponder why Wonder Woman didn't show up on that list. Sure, we could go the logical route and say that because the WonderBat ship had not yet set sailed at that point there would not need to be a pic of Diana in the list, but I like come up with in show reasons for these things. Hmm, maybe the list was of relationships that ended badly, or bittersweetly? Perhaps Bruce and Diana part on good terms, or they might not ever become an official item and all the tension with them comes to nothing in the end.
TimeMonkey
Really liked the last ep they showed on YTV. I think Vixen and Hawkgirl should get more screentime together, not too crazy about Vigelante though.
TimeMonkey
Huntress is pretty cool, loved her annoyance with Black Canary. One thing's confusing me though, isn't Huntress Batman's daughter?

Looks like someone is channeling The WB's "Birds of Prey". No, JLU is going by the regular comics continuity, more or less. In that universe, Huntress is a former mafia princess and the lone survivor of an attack that killed her entire family, orchestrated by a rival crime family. She swore revenge against all the Mafia families. In the comics, she doesn't really get along with Batman.
Penguin Zero
Ironically enough, if we go further back in continuity, Huntress was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman -- on Earth-2, the parallel universe where all the DC heroes got their start around World War II. (Which, in turn, was a way to let them reference the original comics, which were published way back then, without having to make Batman and Superman fifty or sixty years old.)

When the Crisis on Infinite Earths came, of course, there was no room for a fully-adult daughter of Batman and Catwoman on the unified timeline, and so she was retconned out of existence. Later, someone got the idea to reimagine her, and the former Helena Wayne became Helena Bertinelli, daughter of a crime family turned superheroine.

It should also be mentioned that even though they don't get along, she desperately wants his approval, even if she hides that from him. She is still part of the "Batman Family"; the main reason they don't get along is because of her methods. She's more brutal with her violence, and he kicked her out of the League after she tried to kill the Joker. Quite frankly, who can blame her, really?

Sorry if that's a bad thing but that's the only place I've heard of her before. I'm not really familiar with the DC universe aside from Batman.

Double Date

I *SO* love the JLU Question. Huntress in all her incarnations has always been blecchh to me, so....blecchh.
Hunnh, looks like Q is in the next ep as well. Looking at the episode summaries, it doesn't seem to bode well though.

And the old Earth-2 Huntress got a brief mention in the last issue of JSA as a part of the whole upcoming Infinite Crisis thingie.

I just saw the ep with Doomsday, the second one, and I have to say that it seems like the people at Cadmus are just asking for trouble. What would these people do if someone like Darkseid came roaring towards Earth or someone like Amazo? I can see why they would be worried about the JLU but I can't help wondering that it's best to stick with the devil you know then the devil you don't. Doomsday seems like too crazy an option. Why couldn't Doomsday just been a trained operative with powers to combat Superman? Why make him into a wild and near insane creature? That just seems well...stupid. Also in the comics is this how Doomsday was created?
Zerowing
No. The comic version of Doomsday was created by some alien scientists on ancient Krypton. They were trying to create the perfect lifeform, unfortunately it ended up too powerful to control and killed the scientists and later stowed away on a spaceship and began going from planet to planet causing vast death and destruction. Doomsday can't really die. If you destroy him, he will eventually regenerate stronger than before.

Doomsday eventually encountered an alien race who had the means to outright defeat him. They did, but realized they couldn't kill him, so they imprisoned in an asteroid and sent him into space where he drifted for an untold amount of time until he crashed on Earth.

That led to the Death of Superman storyline. But that's another long-ass story.
Vermicious Knid
I'm putting this here because there are a few comparisons to the current JL show. Also, we can always use a good laugh. An extremely snarky review of Trial of the Superfriends. Instead of Bat Lube, this time they've got Bat Resin.

It was the 70s. The writers had to be on something.
Damaris56
I just read on a thread on another site that this is the final season of JLU. Has this been confirmed by the producers of the show or Cartoon Network because I haven't heard anything. As a matter of fact, I could have sworn I read about a month or two back that they were casting voices for next season. Anyone know anything for sure?
Curare
Why can't they just throw Doomsday into a blackhole? He can't survive that because if he can well that's just nuts.
Pat Agonia
According to epguides.com, the list of upcoming eps. and brief summaries seems to suggest that the end of the League is near.
suntzu
Why can't they just throw Doomsday into a black hole?

I think he could come back, even from that one, since black holes are (according to some) portals to other parts of the universe, or to other universes altogether. It's worth noting that during the Death of Superman storyline, Cyborg Superman (who was actually a bad guy, but that's another long story) also strapped Doomsday to an asteroid and threw him into space. Also, I think I remember another storyline in the comics where Doomsday was banished to the end of time (or something like that).
Cypher21
After this season ending it will be a shake up, just like after the Thangarian invasion it was a shake up. This is the end of the season, not the series. Take Teen Titans for instance, they have some upcoming episodes titled "The End," yet it's not the end of the series, just the season. I've read the upcoming JLU episode synopsis and it makes it seem like the end, but i don't believe it is, it's going strong right now, why kill it?
Curare
Since Doomsday is such a bad ass I'd like to see him take on Amazo.
TimeMonkey
Does anyone else want to see more of Booster Gold? I thought he was funny, interesting and kind of hot.
Junkyard Dog
So, did anyone else see "Clash" Friday night? Or, as I like to call it, "Luthor Plays Superman Like A Fiddle!"
cambridgeguy
I'm surprised our Canadien friends don't have anything to say about this. The Big Red Cheese himself showed up, after all. His alter-ego is shown in one of the CN promos, btw.
TimeMonkey
I haven't seen the new eps yet. I don't think they've aired here yet.
TimeMonkey
So, Captain Marvel is just a kid? And Superman didn't seem all that bothered by beating on him.
skyegazer
That ep brought back memories of the old Shazam cartoon. Anyway, I always thought it was odd that Captain Marvel was younger then Captain Marvel Jr

Was that woman Lex was talking to his hot Limo driver, Mercey?

Clash

Very nice episode.
They certainly seem to be getting a lot of ideas from Kingdom Come.
Did the Flash actually do any ads in a previous episode, or is it just a throwaway line?
Oh, and best conversation EVER:

Batman: J'onn, we're in trouble!
J'onn: Are you asking for help?
Batman: Yes!
J'onn: You never ask for help.

It's the way J'onn says his lines. The conversation between Superman and Batman later on were pretty good too.
Perfect Xero
I dunno the characterizations in Clash really felt off to me. Superman was just acting like an asshole for most of the episode, Captain Marvel was too wide eyed and 'Gee wiz, golly shucks' for my tastes. And they're really being awfully heavy handed with the whole Justice League turning into the Justice Lords thing. And Batman, who chewed out Clark for sending Doomsday to the PZ, seems strangely non-concerned that Superman just destroyed a city for no good reason.
snowcrash
Actually, that seemed to work for me. I mean, Luthor is the one guy that Supes can never bring himself to trust, so yeah he'd get all asshole-y. Marvel has always been the Boy Scout's Boy Scout. Bats... I got nothing. The PZ-ing Doomsday made sense to me, as I didn't really see any alternative. I guess Bats was more concerned about the Lords in that ep. He gave Supes a pass because Lex and the Cabal obviously manipulated him.
Lantern7
While I'm waiting for "Task Force X" in three days, here's a JLU PC entry. Hope you like it.
Junkyard Dog
So, did anyone else see the Justice League appearence on last Sunday's Family Guy?
Sleestak Hunter

Peter (to Superman, while he & the JLA are having a meeting at his Fortress of Solitude): So... I noticed that we're running low on Mr Pibb & Cheetos. Y'know, so the next time you're out- maybe you could.... Y'know, 800 mile trek for me- a few seconds for you... you know what I mean....
Magus
Who else was stoked about "Question Authority" tonight?

The shit has hit the fan. Atom has defected, and Luthor has super-strength (among other things). Meanwhile, everybody with a clue is expressing reservations about the League.

On the matter of destiny, I wonder if anybody will raise the possibility that the Question has set the series of events into motion?
bossu
I'm just stoked about new episodes. Well, "new" to American broadcast, anyway.
TimeMonkey
They showed the episode with the Ultimen again today. I still crack up during the fight between Aquaman and the Wonder Twins.
tygerboy01
Okay, just saw "Task Force X" on Cartoon Network.

Even though the League basically took one in the gut, I'm happy about lots of little continuity nods. Flagg, the whole completion of the plan to get the armor out of the League's control, Plastique and Captain Atom (who had a relationship in the comics for a while)...

The fight between Task Force X and Shining Knight, Atom, and everybody else... brutal! At least, it's feeling like a whole lot more brutal fighting than I'm used to with the league. I mean...yikes.

Oh, and J'onn basically kicked butt for being all on his own for a while there. Beware the shapeshifter!
snowcrash
Question Authority

Thank God they didn't kill Question. Is Luthor Luthor? Or did his Kryptonite poisoning and healing give him superpowers? This ep, like the others in this arc, is pretty well done. Gives me high hopes for the rest of the end arc. Is there going to be a season 5 or is this it for JLU?

If they're following the Kingdom Come playbook, the future does not look good for Captain Atom.

I no longer trust my shoelaces.
Curare
I don't get Cadmus. What is their endgame? Killing off the league?
Readster
In Camdus mind they see the League as the ultimate threat of taking out not only the US Government but also the world governments and running the planet into a military state as shown with the Justice Lords. However they never go to think that if the League is taken out what about their enemies. Oh sure taking out Deadshot or even Ocean Master they can do. What happens when you spark a war with Atlantis because you killed Aquaman? What do you do if Ares and Hades decided to go rule the mortal world again? What if the Amazons join the Atlantians against humanity? They don't think that way, they are small minded and never t hing of the big picture. Plus what about Darkseid or the Controllers or even Thangar? Who's going to take them out when you couldn't handeled them yourselves?
Warden

It was indeed brutal. I think it was because it was so primal with the fisticuffs and such then the Mexican standoff with Vigilante and the guy (can't remember).

That was cold when he asked GL about HG. I guess even cartoon characters can have brass ones too.
Oh, and J'onn basically kicked butt for being all on his own for a while there. Beware the shapeshifter!

Damn straight. When he was taking on the gang, he really did look menacing.
I don't get Cadmus. What is their endgame? Killing off the league?

Killing as a last resort but for now I think control is their target.

Quick question, who were the various rogues featured in the episode? The only one I recognized was the Clock King.
Lantern7
Nice...introduce the whole Suicide Squad idea, and they don't even use the costumes. Also...nice use of schlubs like Clock King and Captain Boomerang. Seriously...Clock King. Showed up in all of two BTAS episodes.

Still can't believe that the JLU would need a support staff. That's just asking for trouble. And now, the staff will be getting mind probes from J'Onn (first time he got called "Martian Manhunter," BTW)...and I don't even wanna know what Batman has planned for security measures.
NoWayMan

That fight scene might be my favorte moment on JLU. I love the different levels of super hero-ness in the League. It was cool to see humans (and a super powered android) go up against JL guys and have a realistic chance. Alot of the time I feel like the message of JLU is that if you really have a committment to goodness and you create some cool gadgets and train you can be a super hero. Which is actually a message of most comics right? But I would imagine that living in a world with super powered people might create some resentment and jealousy. The fight was so well drawn that you really got the sense the human characters felt they were in some larger symbolic battle on behalf of regular people on earth. Which kinda had me rooting for them a little bit. I love that this show has multi-faceted villains. It might be the best show at that since early Buffy.
