Bump. Hey folks, I've been trying to get a different first job, and maybe a second job. It's a bad sign, when you apply at a movie theater, and they group-interview you, thirty people at a time? That's bad, right? I must've appeared too competent, because the kids that said as they were called on, sixth grade style, "My weaknesses?I don't listen well, and I get frustrated easy!" got the job over me. Ah well, more time for TWoP! I have been on the most bizarre job interviews. You would think I was interviewing for the Justice League, and not ______ cinemas. Sheesh.

Working in a cinema is a nightmare DoctorNeon. You develop an abiding hatred of everybody that comes through the door, and that the general public are scum. No, I have no issues. Why do you ask? ;)
The best thing about it was the free films, and the worst apart from the people was the smell of popcorn and the pick n mix. Shudder
Bizarrely it was a Warner Bros. Cinema

Hi folks, just wanted to introduce myself before I post a question in the newbie thread. I'm from Ireland and I started reading TWoP about two years ago (registered much later than that), mainly the ER recaps (kudos to Heathen). I watched the some of the first season of SV, missed the second entirely and am catching up on the third over here on the other side of the Atlantic.
I'm a big fan of Clex; Omar's recaps (throwing a spotlight on HoYay in episodes where I thought none existed) are nothing short of the best double-meaning, dirty laughter-inducing, tv-related writing on the Internet. [dash mode off]
My tendency to think that TW and MR are also two of the finest men on the planet has everything to do with why I watch the show.
Hope I haven't blabbed on too much.

Oh heck, no,
Mozza. Nice to see someone bumping up this thread. Omar has helped many of us see the HoYay light--I know I'm one of them. Omar is, decidedly, the boss of us.
Me? Big Lex/MR fan out here in the upper left-hand corner of the United States, so hello from all the way across a continent and an ocean!
I'm sitting here watching "Prodigal" on DVD right now, pausing at significant sights (ahem!), drinking some Australian shiraz and generally having not a bad time for a Friday evening at home.
Gotta say, the combination of Aussie wine and Lucas Luthor's muscular, tattooed shoulders goes down pretty smooth. Looking forward to seeing you in the topic threads!

Jun 18, 2004 @ 1:16 am
So... hi everybody. I'm Caelum. I'm a fangirl.
And about that. One afternoon while having a late lunch with my mother and aunt, the topic of Smallville came up in a discussion of TV shows we like.
And before I could grab my inner monologue and throttle it into submission, I blurted out "Lex and Clark make such a cute couple! (sigh) I hope they stay together forever."
Dead silence. Very awkward, very dead silence.
DarkEmerald
Jun 18, 2004 @ 1:28 am
Hee! I, too, am a fangirl, and it sits a little awkwardly with my age and job. Gratefully, I have a couple of sci-fi/fantasy/genre geeks on my staff who at least can appreciate Omar's recaps, if not Smallville itself. Neither really gets the whole hoyay thing, and I'm in constant danger of being outed as DarkEmerald, because I know at least one of them visits this forum.
So the other day, the three of us are having a "lite" moment in my office and the subject turns to Harry Potter and the PoA, which I'd just seen. One of the staffers, a man, asks, "Is that mean blond kid in the new movie?" and I blurt out, "Draco Malfoy? Yes, and he has such a total crush on Harry."
And, as you experienced, Caelum: dead silence.
But I am the boss, so after a beat or two, they both obligingly laughed.
And with this post, I guess I've just outed myself.
Caelum
Jun 18, 2004 @ 1:37 am
Hee! And I agree, Draco definately has a crush on Harry. Draco and Lex should meet for wine some time and commiserate bitterly over the heartache involved in loving oddly moralistic pretty brunette boys with cheesy glasses and big wands. *snicker*
DarkEmerald
Jun 18, 2004 @ 1:58 am
LOL! I have no evidence one way or another about Draco's wand--though Harry certainly has been experimenting with his of late--but we know perfectly well that when Ollivander's was handing out the wands, Lex was first in line for the deluxe model.
So that would be an interesting bitch session indeed!

Hi, everyone. I'm LexClark4ever, and I'm a fangirl from Toronto, Canada. As my username suggests, I was in an extreme fangirl mood when I chose it after watching several S1 eps and reading a lot of Clex porn. I love everyone on TWOP.
I'm 32 years old and I read Clex porn constantly, to the amusement of my husband who has commented in the past: "Most people usually start the day by reading the newspaper, not reading gay porn."

Hey TWoPers! *strolls confidently into room, then crashes into edge of coffee table* ow! sonavbitch! I'm Owzers, and I'm a bit of a klutz. I'm 5'10" tall and in my 40's and still not used to my height. I've been indifferent to hoyay until SV, and am now a hardcore Clexer. And as you already know, MR has turned me into a pathetic, squeeing fangirl - and reading fanfic by Jenn and Te and Rhiannonhero has only made it worse. I live in California (and Egypt), but was born in Minnesota and I still miss the change of seasons. I love this forum, and my spouses, and enjoy everyone's wit tremendously. I've pretty much given up on TV shows, except for The Simpsons, Southpark, and Monk. Still watch SV to memorize MR & TW's voices and faces to better visualize the fanfic. I worship Omar, and have never been part of a forum before now. Thanks to all of you who make me laugh and cry and think and not feel so alone in my bitterness about the Clexlessness of SV. May M&G roast slowly in hell! Love & Smooches to you all.

Hello, my name is Min, and I'm a Luthorholic. It's been way too long since my last Luthor fix.
Single, middle-aged, Scots-Irish-French-American, Episcopalian
Distrust fundamentalism, big business, the Bush administration
Dislike whining, smoking, basketball
Collect art nudes, vintage hats, small handcrafted boxes
Attracted to clever, highly educated men with beautiful eyes
Favorite color: green
Favorite TV show: Smallville
Favorite literary genre: sci fi/fantasy
Favorite dessert: creme brulee
Favorite quote: "There is no new thing under the sun."
And before I could grab my inner monologue and throttle it into submission, I blurted out "Lex and Clark make such a cute couple! (sigh) I hope they stay together forever."
In Season 2, I tried to explain to my mother that Lex was in love with Clark. She just looked at me and gave me that strained smile usually reserved for carrying too much credit card debt and collecting nudes.

Hi, I'm Frelling Tralk and I've been posting here for a while but haven't properly introduced myself before. I first came to TWoP through the Buffy forums and never enjoyed it much. But I love the Smallville forums because nearly everyone ships the same couple as me, and the character that everyone hates is the one that I hate too. Bonus!
I got into Smallville because I started reading Clex fic and decided it might be an idea to check out the show itself. So I brought the season 1 DVD. I'm 22 and living in Oxford so to watch my favourite shows I tend to do a lot of downloading. Oh and Lex is my favourite character, and Jenn is my favourite fan fic writer :)

No wait. That would be Lionel. Me? DarkEmerald, almost everything in common with Min except instead of Episcopalian I'm religiously unaligned, and instead of nudes it's abstract expressionism. Otherwise, creme brulee, little boxes, age, status, politics, male attractions, the whole nine yards--check. Total kindred spirit. *little tinkly finger-wave to Min.* Nihil novum, baby.
I work in the public sector, and have managed through luck and intimidation to rise to a non-cubicle position where my computer monitor faces away from my office door. So if I post to TWoP occasionally during the business day, no one's the wiser. And yes, I do delete my internet history and my cookies before leaving on vacation.
This is one of my two main forums (the other one being Firefly--I'm Joss Whedon's devoted whore and he's going to have to do a lot more wrong than Buffy S7 to lose me). I watch Smallville strictly for the Chluthoropolis and because this forum is just so damn much fun.

My SO is also amused by my reactions to what I do when the actual show is upsetting me and I race for my stash of Clex porn. As he puts it, when I'm alarmed by a scene(such as Lex's "honest and pure-hearted" speech to Blahna), I run so fast that I could outrun Clark.

Apparently. My SO says all he sees is a glimpse of a (literally) screaming blur as I run. I was never athletic, but being alarmed by a scene gives me the motivation to get the hell out of the room and grab a Clex porn story that has at least an R-rating.
As I mentioned in the Bitterness thread, I've been taping eps and not watching them. The "honest and pure-hearted" Lexana pukefest scene occurred while my husband was channel-surfing (and taping SV at a later time) and I happened to see it. I'm still trying to find a way to get rid of the memory.
neutrino
Jun 19, 2004 @ 11:39 am
OKay; going to jump on the meet market bandwagon;
Hey all; I'm neutrino and I've been posting on TWOP's SV boards for a while now; although I haven't formally introduced myself until now. (At least I think I haven't; *rushes off to check*; yeah I haven't.) As you can tell I'm a bit of a scatterbrain!! LOL!!
I'm 23, I have been married for 6 years to a great guy who has noo idea about my TV obsessions, and I am currently working as a civil servant. I live in England, in Birmingham to be precise, and I have a habit of constantly whining about my husband not letting me get cable; although I agree that would be a very dangerous combination; I'd never get up from the couch!! LOL!! As a result I'm always on the computer downloading the newest episodes of SV and reading posts on TWOP; although I tend to lurk more than I actually post.
I'm obsessed with US shows and I think UK TV programming is just awful; although I am enjoying the EVIL Big Brother 5 at the moment. Which has lead me to have some very bizarre conversations with my normally very uptight manager (the teams nickname for him is Hitler!!) about the recent activities in the house; I swear it was like something out of the twilight zone!! LOL!!
Moving on; I absolutely adored Buffy and Angel and am still in mourning over their demise; more recently I have really gotten into The OC and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. However I am totally obsessed with Smallville; although I think like everyone else here it more of a love-hate relationship. I love what this show could be but hate what it actually is. But that's a subject more suited to the bitterness thread. My favourite character has to be Lex; MR manages to combine adorable and sexy into one mighty fine package; although I also adore the MB and Chloe. My favourite ship has to Chlex; although I don't mind many of the other ships. My hoyay meter was off the charts for the early SV episodes; I think the Clex is very hot; but to be honest it just doesn't do it for me; especially since the BDA has been acting like a big asshat recently. I also find myself cheering on the Clana if for no other reason than the fact that the two just deserve each other. And I actively hate the Peepex!!!
Away from the TV; yeah it hard to get away from it; I love reading and listening to music. I am a big horror/ sci-fi/ fantasy geek although my personal guilty reading pleasure has to be thrillers. And SV fanfiction!! Musically I like pretty much anything although I can be very picky; I'll either love a song or actively hate it and you can never really tell which its going to be. I'm not very sporty or adventurous; I prefer to be lazy and just chill out in the comfort of my own home.
Wow; I didn't mean for this post to be soo long; guess I'm just in a very chatty mood. It must be the lack of recent posts; I have to learn to get out of the habit of lurking. Hopefully you will see me about. Later girls and boys!!!

Hi. I'm

Smallville.

Back on the introductions train? Gotcha.
Hi, I'm CanSpy and I'm addicted to HoYay. I see it everywhere; from the glances between Lex and Clark to the veiled marriage proposals of Frodo and Sam to the passionate love-hate between Harry and Draco (remember: hate is not the opposite of love - it's the inverse. In order to hate someone, you have to feel a lot for them).
I work part-time as Secretary of Hilarity min's assistant, and try to work as hard as I can to make my long-winded praise of her wit funny or at least mildly amusing to the rest of the populace.
Originally, I hail from the Alias threads and love to lurk around the Pixel Challenges. Omar is the Boss of Me, I live in fear of Regina's size 9's, and hopefully I fly enough under the radar to avoid having Glark kill me where I stand.
I am Canadian, would drop dead of happiness if I could visit the real Egypt and work there, and have an odd affinity for figuring out melodies from memory.
I think that's it. (This actually sounds a lot like how I talk...tsk tsk tsk)
And days later, grammatical mistakes still bother me...

I've been mostly lurking on the forums for a while now, but it's probably about time to introduce myself. I found these through Buffy, and I got hooked on Smallville when my husband moved in with me (pre-wedding) and insisted on watching it :-) Love the HoYay in it ... I was a big HoYay fan of Star Trek for a long time (long live Kirk and Spock!), and I love the HoYay that is Clark and Lex.
I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan ... Order came out on my wedding day last year, and I dragged my husband and bridesmaids, in full wedding regalia, to Barnes and Noble to pick up my pre-ordered copy after the reception. Told him I wasn't getting on the plane to London without it. We got a lot of comments in the parking lot and store :-) I recently got him hooked, and I am going to read Goblet to him on an 8-hour car trip Monday (I hope).
Now that Angel and Buffy are over (*sob*), I'll probably be hanging out here a lot more.
Oh yeah, I'm 24, almost 25, and we live in N.C. with two cats named Miss Kitty and Worf.
