It was funny, my Mom, god love her didn't know what a mullet was. (I KNOW! /Monica) I was trying to explain: "Mom, Billy Ray Cyrus... um... MacGyver later seasons... ummm... Michael Bolton... Andre Agassi when he had hair..." Wasn't working. So finally I said:

"Full House. Uncle Jesse had one before the motorcycle accident after the pretend haircut. Joey had a 'hockey mullet' the entire series..."

And she went "Ohhhhh... why would anyone do that to their hair?"

And I said "Exactly".

It was awesome.
sallyiscool
Last night was one DJ started junior high. She and Kimmy felt left out and tried to dress all "sexy" but were stopped. Of course, all worked out. Stephanie had some great lines in there, she was such an awesome little actress.

That was SUCH a good episode because that was totally what happened in junior high. There was that humiliation factor that was HUGE. Though honestly, at the time, I wanted DJ and Kimmy to go to school like that and see all the "unwanted attention" they would be getting and then decide on their own to change back. You know?

Also, what was with Becky's voice? Is LL's voice always that "pretty pretty Glinda the Goodwitch" esque? I liked it better when she spoke regularly, her voice was lower, it was sassier. But alot of the time she seemed to deliver her lines in a very... oh I don't know... just in a weird way that sounded a little too high pitched and pageant-ey for me. Probably not making any sense.

Great eppie though.
ChinkyGirl
Hee! My favorite Stephanie line in that ep. was when DJ asked how they looked, and she said, "Cheap!" ;)

It was funny, my Mom, god love her didn't know what a mullet was.

Why didn't you just explain that it was business up front and all par-tay in the back?! ;)

Oh, honey I tried. But she needed examples. Luckily Uncle Jesse had a heinous mullet (which the hair & makeup people cut). I have decided the hair & makeup (and hell wardrobe) people must have hated Dave Cool-yay. Otherwise, how can we explain the evil hockey mullet?

Maybe if they'd cut the hockey mullet, the evil creepiness that is Joey would've been stopped.
Mine All Mine

We can't go blaming the mullet for that. Dave Cool-yay brings his own creepiness.

It is possible that they could be identical and look a little different. I grew up with a set of identical twins. They were in the same egg, but looked nothing alike. They barely looked related. One of the girls was absolutley gorgoues and the other one, not so much. One had light brown hair and the other was blonde. It was weird. But I would have to go with whatever MK&A say. They would know better than anyone else.

Which is why in science they use the terms monozygotic (identical, one egg that splits) and dizygotic (two separately fertilized eggs), because "identical" twins aren't always identical. I think its pretty common in twins to be different heights/sizes, sometimes due to one twin being better nourished in the womb than the other. Also, even which handed they are may have little to do with it because of "mirror" (identical) twins. Mirror twins DNA is the same, but one will be likely right-handed, the other left, one can have a mole on the left, the other a mole on the right, actually their hearts can even be on different sides of their chests.

This site: http://www.gen.umn.edu/faculty_staff/jense...wins/twins.html is interesting because it also explains that you can have half-identical twins that share only 75% of their DNA if the a egg splits prior to fertilization and each half receives a separate sperm. I would imagine these type of twins could also look very much alike.

Anyway, I grew up watching Full House. I remember not knowing that Michelle was played by twins because in the early seasons it introduced them with that one long name Mary-Kate Ashley Olsen, not including the "and". My favorite episodes were the one with the love letter, and Jesse and Rebecca's wedding. I remember loving that "Forever" song.
Detroit Chick

lol

When she was young she was my favorite character just because she said some crazy stuff. Then when Michelle grew up they tried to make her like Stephanie was and she just came off as annyoing and so were her friends. I like Steph's friend Harry when he called her chief

I was 5 when FH premiered, I think, and I remember a lot of my classmates thought the same thing, that it was one kid with a name that was way too long. The only reason I didn't was because I have a sick memory and had been watching from season one, and in the first few episodes, they ran the Olsens' names at the end of the show, during the closing credits. I don't recall them being billed in the opening credits with the rest of the cast, but it's been so long since I've seen the extended, non-syndication/cable version of the opening. The Olsens were billed as Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Fuller Olsen in the ending credits.

I was hoping that when ABC Family began to run episodes of FH, that they would play the original opening, the way they did for season one eps of "Family Matters"(with the long theme song and everything), but unfortunately, they don't. Maybe when FH comes out on DVD(it's only a matter of time, IMO), they'll include it on there.

They played the original opening for the pilot only.
tijmetje
I didn't figure out Michelle was played by twins until I was about 12, when "It Takes Two" hit Dutch cinemas. I don't remember how I explaned the scene where Michelle was talking to her memory (or whatever) in that very last episode.

It was funny, my Mom, god love her didn't know what a mullet was.

Aw, that's sweet. I actually sort of wanted to do that to my hair (Shut up! It was a long time ago. I was twelve. Honest).
Miss Aquarius

...And of course, I'd miss when they aired the pilot.

Thanks for letting me know, Mine All Mine! Hopefully I can catch it when they re-air the pilot.
Mine All Mine
You're quite welcome.

If I happen to notice it scheduled, I'll try to post the info.

I had forgotten that Doris Roberts played Danny's mom! I just saw that episode, Doris seems so much more pleasant in those days than now. She's on Good Day Live all the time and she seems like a big old bitch.
ChinkyGirl
I saw a girl yesterday with a shirt that looked like she made it herself that said "I HEART JOEY GLADSTONE". That's some sick shit.
YourDensity
Was she wearing it with a sense of irony? Sort of like "Free Winona!" shirts?

Because if she was wearing it as a joke.. that's friggin' hilarious. If she was a fangirl and she was serious. That's disturbing.
ChinkyGirl
I honestly couldn't tell! I'm guessing (read: hoping) it was a joke, at least!
jw7579
Ashley Fuller Olsen

This always bugged me in the early days of "Full House". Was this her middle name or was it something that the writers pulled out of their asses?

I had forgotten that Doris Roberts played Danny's mom!

And she wore the exact same outfit that she wore on an episode of "Raymond".
Miss Aquarius
According to IMDB, Fuller is Ashley's middle name.

OH! That reminds me. Yesterday I was browsing the 'net for stencils (I've gotten into a very DIY mode recently) for t-shirts, and I found an Uncle Jesse stencil, complete with mullet. No plans to use it, but I thought it was funny.
tijmetje
Link please. Pretty please?

Fuller is Ashley's middle name.

I actually knew that. I also know it's her mother's maiden name. I know way to much about some things.
HappilyEvrAftr

Okay, the mullet's not doing it for me, but I would totally wear a shirt that said "I <heart> Uncle Jesse".
queenfrostine
I totally want one of those too.
ChinkyGirl
"I <heart> Uncle Jesse"

Just to clarify, the aforementioned girl's shirt literally said "I HEART JOEY GLADSTONE". Not a picture of a heart, mind you, but literally the word "heart." How's that for cheesy?
Screamie
I have no idea how long this has been on because I never have cable, but I'm watching "Driven: Mary-Kate and Ashley" right now. I'm surprised that they have new interviews with Lori, Jodie and Dave Cool yay, mainly because I haven't seen Dave or Jodie do anything since maybe 1995.

And if anyone is wondering, Dave looks really haggard and Jodie looks like she had a nose job.

ETA: I saved myself the misery of watching them on SNL tonight.
ChinkyGirl
So did anyone catch them on SNL last night? I took a look at the SNL thread and some people say they were surprisingly decent in it.
Miss Aquarius
I watched SNL! They WERE surprisingly good, considering the crappy level of recent SNLs. Their monologue was a silly re-enactment of what would happen if they had gone to their prom...Maya Rudolph "threw up" on Ashley...they put MK and A in HORRIBLE pink poofy sparkly prom dresses from hell...

It was cute though. Ashley was whining, "Now we'll never know what it's like to ride in a limo and wear fancy dresses and have people do our hair..." Mary-Kate replied, "Um, we do that, like, every day..." and Ashley snapped "Yeah, but not at the MARRIOTT!!!!"

They had a spoof of a perfume commercial which was cute. Loved them in the parody of "The Swan". The backpack shack sketch(they dressed up as ducks and sang a ridiculous song) and that sketch where Jimmy Fallon plays a skeevy DJ "...and we're baaaack!" were stupid.

But they did better than a good deal of the SNL eps this season.

Edited to add:

I forgot the best sketch of the night! They did that sketch where they're paparazzi photographers. Of course, "The Olsen Twins" walked by and Mary-Kate started screaming "Gaaaawd, you're so skinny! EAT A SANDWICH!!! EAAAT A SAAAANDWICH!!!!" It was pretty funny. Ashley was screaming stuff like "Which is which??? WHICH IS WHICH?? Hey, pretty one, smile and look this way! Ugly one, give a thumbs-up!!" The girls were WAY more open to making fun of themselves than I thought they would be. In the DJ sketch, even though it was stupid, they even let Fallon make fun of New York Minute.
healing fish
Well, that's cool. At least they're willing to make fun of themselves. That gives me a modicum of respect for them.
atrophy28
Oh man, the paparazzi sketch was hilarious. When Mary Kate screamed "EAT A SANDWHICH!" I cracked up. So great.

I agree, they were way better than I was expecting.
sunny605
I hate SNL but watched last night to see M-K and A. I was surprised how good they were too. Loved the paparazzi scene...I cracked up at "Eat a sandwich!" too. Haven't we been saying much the same thing?

I think the "DJ drinks beer" episode was pretty well done. Does it qualify as a VSE? (This isn't for discussion on VSEs, since there's another place for that, but to get some opinions.)
YourDensity
"EAAAT A SANNNNDWIIIICH MARY KATE!" I keep giggling. That was great! And when they kept saying "Courtney get out of there!" because Courtney Love kept throwing herself into photos. That was a great sketch. The whole paparazzi sketch was fantastic. "Stand back to back. Pretend you're siamese!!!"

And word, the perfume ad was great, they're being sexy. And there's this voiceover talking about the two different perfumes for "two different aspects of your personality."
"good side.."
"ASHHHley..."..
"your bad side.."
"Marrrrry-Kaaaate..."

and then "Fly-fishing" "Ashley..." (and Ashley is mouthing "Fly fishing?")

"National Holidays..." "Ashhhley"...
"Jewish Holidays..." "Marrrryyy-Kaaate..."

And the girls are trying to be sexy and are confused at the same time. Hee hee hee. I turned it off after a certain point. Did they do any Full House sketches? Because that would've been great. Full House 2004 or something. I know they referenced it, but I would've loved to see Jimmy Fallon imitate Bob Saget.

EAAATTT A SANNNDWIIIIICH.... hee hee hee...
Miss Aquarius
Did they do any Full House sketches? Because that would've been great.

Unfortunately, no. I was waiting for one, too...the snarkage level would have been so high my head might have exploded. There's so many different ways they could have gone with it, too. *pout*

For me, the best part of the perfume commercial was how the wind machine kept getting stronger and stronger as the commentary got more and more ridiculous...the girls did a really good job with their facial expressions, combining confusion with "I'm about to get knocked off my seat..."
Cookie55
I have a shirt I made myself that says "SAGET" on it in iron-on felt letters. I love wearing it out, if only for the "As in BOB?" remarks I get. Also, a friend of mine has a shirt we made that says "JESSE AND THE RIPPERS."

We are weird, weird girls.

Edited because I forgot I actually have a picture of me in the "awesome" t-shirt, here. Drunk people do weird things.
RainIsBeautiful
That's a fantastic tee, Cookie! May I steal the idea?
MeeshyPeeshy22
There is a kid in my homeroom who is a spitting image of Bob Saget. Poor thing. We call him Saget, and he gets a little pissed, but it's all in good fun.
BondGirl
DJ didn't drink the beer, she was trying to stop some of her friends from drinking it. She was holdiing the can, mocking the stupid way they looked and sounded, when Jesse saw her and assumed the worst.
I hate that episode--all of the adults assuming that she'd been drinking and none of them being willing to hear her side of the story.
Cookie55
RainIsBeautiful, feel free to make a SAGET shirt. I never thought I'd be saying that, but there it is.

One night, I had it on at this bar my friends and I frequent, and some girl told me that he (Saget) hit on her sister at an airport. Her sister was like, 19 at the time. For some reason this does not surprise me.
jw7579
I saw the crash dieting episode for the first time in 12 years yesterday. I can't believe it's been that long, it's almost like the forgotten episode.

Those exercise outfits were SO eighties it was not funny (even though it was a 1990/1991 season episode).
pizzagirl20
ABC Family is showing Uncle Jesse's 10-year high school reunion episode today. Which makes me remember the episode where they had Jesse get his GED.

Love the continuity!
sunny605
I know DJ didn't really drink the beer - that's why I put my name for the episode in quotes. I still think it's a good one.

I saw the dieting one today and had the same thoughts on the outfits, jw7579. I will never understand how leotards over bike shorts in an array of fluorescent colors were fashionable.
tijmetje
Thanks for the link, HappilyEvrAftr. Would it be possible to use this stencil to paint a wall? You know, hypothetically.
Charlotte
I read in my local TV guide that the Olsens will be the subject of A&E's Biography on June 14.
HappilyEvrAftr
You could, tijmetje. For shirts, I hear you're supposed to use contact paper, but if you transfer the contact paper onto a thin sheet of plastic, then skillfully using an exacto-knife...

Today I watched the episode where the "love letter" from their cousin (I want to say Rusty, but I KNOW it's not) gets passed around, and everyone thinks it's from someone else - Kimmy from Jesse, Becky from Danny, etc. This always amuses me for some reason, even though it's extremely cliche.

Unless something else jogs my memory I think that is my least favorite episode ever. What kind of boyfriend and girlfriend or friend to friend wouldn't just talk to the other one about it? Danny asks Jesse to help him raise his daughters, lets him live in his house and then Jesse gets all suspicious of Danny stealing his girl? Ugh. The only redeemable moment is hearing Comet's voice saying "I wonder if anyone will drop a hot dog".

It WAS from Rusty. Rusty was Danny's girlfriend's son, not their cousin. He wrote the letter to DJ from the paperboy as a joke, and asked Michelle to deliver it to her, but Michelle gave it to Stephanie instead. Of course, the mix-ups continued and hilarity ensued.

This episode amuses me too for some reason, although most episodes amuse me and I'm not proud of that. Maybe because the first time I saw this plot was during an episode of Saved by the Bell.
HappilyEvrAftr
Why do I keep thinking of a cousin named Rusty, then? It's driving me nuts. A cousin did come in later in the series, right? Arrrgh. It's going to bother me all day.
