In one of the early episodes Joey asks Jesse if he's dating an exotic dancer. Jesse calls her a topless ballerina. Same episode, a little later, Jesse yells "damn." I wish they would have kept Jesse a boyslut rocker instead of uberdad #2.

Word. The first season was much more raunchy and racey than any of the other seasons. They played up the fact that the guys were GROWNUPS. I hated that in later episodes someone would call the guys "chowderheads" or something and their feeeeelings would get hurt and plinkyplunky music of life would play about some stupid insult that wouldn't make a kindergartner blink. Whatever.

They also played Jesse up as a guy who had tons of one night stands and was a womanizer. I loved that. I'm glad he met Becky, but then they got married and immediately popped out some kids. And Joey had no life and was boring.. soooo.... yeah.

I miss the snarky first season. They had sarcasm, Danny wasn't just one note clean-guy character, the guys had gfriends and there was... well.. honestly the testament to when a show starts sucking is when the characters become CARICATURES of their former selves.

In the earlier eppies the characters seemed like funny people that could exist. In later eppies caricatures:

Danny: Obsessed with cleaning. Oh and cleaning. And cleaning some more.

Jesse: Hair, hair, hair, have mercy, hair, hair, hair... elvis, elvis, have mercy...

Joey: trees made of wood, woodchuck, cartoons, cut it out. Cut it out. No... seriously Joey...CUT.IT.OUT.

The guys became boring. Becky became the pretty girl who they never gave a personality (earlier eppies she was sassy and funny). Michelle became annoying. DJ and Steph were the only characters who remained interesting, imho.

This show definitely abused the catch phrases.

You are so right. In 1st season, Jessee had major mullet, had sex with a lot of women, and cussed 1-2 times an episode. He was potrayed as dumb in some eps like when he let girls stay up too late and eat ice cream. And he Hated hugging.
Then, in 2nd season, it became more family friendly. He got a hair cut, stopped cussing (only a few more times last 7 years), changed last name, and settled down with Becky. And in last season HE was hugging Danny.

Danny was major cleaner. It was well established his mom made him a major cleaner and he had passed it down to Michelle in later eps. And when guys went to movies he would have cleaned some. But of course, Danny of later would never have let it get so bad in 1st place.
Miss Granger
Jesse attempting to eat the cereal with the two broken arms (resulting from the haircut...sort of!) is still one of my favourite moments from this show. Too hilarious.
Screamie
I just heard that Saget has a cameo in the new Olsen twin movie "New York Minute." Ugh, why?

Dad dad dad he's our dad.......(continuous loop in my head)

I hate you all
TheCustomOfLife
Now I have that horrific song, "I am the cute one, she's just my sister" in MY head. :(
sunny605
Another horrible FH song to have stuck in your head: "What day is today? Today is Mother's Day" as Jesse taught to Nicky and Alex.

Another first-season scene in Danny's bedroom today. Why so many in the first season, but hardly any in the later seasons?
dawsnzchck
Ugh, it wasn't even mentioned here but just reading this thread somehow got "Brother For Sale" stuck in my head. Damn you Olsen Twins! Why oh why did you have to make straight-to-video crappy movies that I was forced to watch while babysitting??

I too loved the scene of Jesse eating the cereal with the broken arms, Michelle feeding him the Oat Boat was just adorable.
Mine All Mine
For a while after I saw the episode, I had that song from Barry & the Rippers stuck in my head. Can't for the life of me remember it now. (Not that I'm complaining.)

I've been watching the early eps lately and noticed Jesse sporting a tattoo on his left arm. Does he have it throughout the series or did I just not notice it because his sleeves just got longer? If so, is it real or a lick 'n stick?

I can't believe I let Full House drive me this crazy.

Speaking of tatoos...remember when Jesse took Michelle shopping at Hell's Little Angels and she got the tatoo that said "Born to Behave"? Now it's off to the Tiny Tot Shop...

Get out of my head Dad Song!...

plinkyplunky music of life

Hehehe.

I had a dream last night that the Olsen twins were my sisters. Wow. That was scary!
ChinkyGirl
It was just really bizarre how they made him seem like a dirty(cleanliness wise) single man, and he goes all the way to the extreme of being a neat freak.
My take on it was just that Danny was always a neat freak, but after Pam died, he just let the whole house go for awhile, until the Mom Brigade came to whip him back into shape.

I hated that in later episodes someone would call the guys "chowderheads" or something and their feeeeelings would get hurt and plinkyplunky music of life would play about some stupid insult that wouldn't make a kindergartner blink. Whatever.
Oh Lord! Must..not..let..coworkers..see..me..laugh...

Hey...wasn't Oat Boats the cereal that one of the girls did a commercial for, too? Was it Stephanie?
blurvert
One FH song that always gets stuck in my head is "I'm a big girl. You're a big girl. Yada yada yada ya." Eesh. And the fact that it's Stephanie and Michelle singing it makes it even worse for me. You don't even know.

And I can't believe that the Olsen twins actually had records out. They sang like shit, I don't know how to explain it. It's sort of like sing-song talking, only a million times worse.
RainIsBeautiful
I had a dream last night that the Olsen twins were my sisters. Wow. That was scary!

Baby Olsen Twins or 2004 Olsen Twins? For some reason, I think the babies would be scarier.
AbrilOrchid
2004 Olsen twins. But when they talked they said things like, "totally!" "NO WAY!" "like." It was really annoying. And of course they were prettier than me, so they were getting all the attention.
sunny605

ChinkyGirl, they talked about that on one of today's episodes. From how D.J. told the story, she was supposed to do the commercial but Stephanie ended up doing it.

AbrilOrchid, a Joey Lawrence WHOA! to your dream. Like, totally wow!
lindseywalker
My sister and I are twins and there's a lovely super 8 movie of us belting out a heartfelt rendition of the Pebbles and Bam Bam ditty, "Let The Sunshine In". We have no idea why our parents didn't get us an agent. We could have been bigger than the Olesen twins...the 70's/80's version!

Topic - It always bugged me how in the early episodes, the family obviously lost their mom so recently, was Michelle even a year old(?), but yet the mom so rarely came up in conversation and Stefanie and DJ didn't seem sad or even bring her up much. I know there were one or two mentions of her, blah blah blah, but then it was right back to sunshine and puppy dogs. Danny would be such a recent widower, too. Never seemed to add up.
MechaAlice
See, the way I always figured it, Stephanie was about five or so, DJ a little bit older. I figure their mom died, and then the twins spawned a few years later. From dust bunnies or something. Because if the twins were only three months old when the show started, it would be kind of weird to not acknowledge that the mom died, like a few weeks ago.
Reny Sue
The twins were nine months when the show started, so she might have died just after Michelle was born. Stephanie would be four, DJ nine (was she the same age as CC?) so its a bit strange that we didn't get Stephanie asking "Where's my mummy" a couple of times at least. DJ would be quite sad a lot of the time.

Maybe the guys were hurt by the "chowderheads" thing cause of the intent behind it? Little girls don't really know awful insults like that (well back in those days anyways, which makes me now feel about a hundred) so to insult someone you would use an insult you knew. I can remember my mum crying when I called her a poophead. Its not something you'd get upset about if an adult called you that (more like laugh) but if your seven year old daughter did, you'd be upset, cause of the intent. My mum would still probably cry if I called her a shithead.
Mine All Mine

IIRC, they did acknowledge her death. They often mentioned it in the beginning - when Danny's mother left, when Danny wanted to date again, and other times during random episodes. (I'm watching the first season currently, so it's fresh in my mind.) Also, in one of the later episodes, DJ and Kimmy have a confrontation and DJ says her mom was killed by a drunk driver.

I think Stephanie was about 5 (she was starting kindergarten), DJ was around 10 (starting 5th grade) and Michelle was about 9 months or so (she was walking shortly into the first season, which most children tend to do at about a year or so).
ducksrun
They also acknowledged Pam's death in the first Thanksgiving episode. Jesse broke out the photo album and was crying. DJ wanted to make the dinner exactly like mom. That episode was all about how much they missed her.

One FH song that always gets stuck in my head is "I'm a big girl. You're a big girl. Yada yada yada ya."

I am now going to be singing that all day.
Cheese Pleese
Reny Sue, you're a fellow Aussie. When did FH stop airing on free-to-air television here? The show officially ended when I was in first year uni. I don't remember seeing the later episodes at all. Maybe it's because I grew out of the show. But I still can't remember it being on TV at that time.
Reny Sue
It was on Channel 7 till about '95, and then when Channel 9 bought all the shows from that company (remember the hooplah around Friends?) Channel 9 had it. They didn't really play it. I was in Year 7 that year, and still into the show, but never saw the past two series. I remember Steve, but I don't remember them breaking up. I think I caught the finale once during the day, but I'm not too sure. I just thought Michelle was acting like a tool, which was normal.
healing fish
And of course they were prettier than me, so they were getting all the attention.

Unless you're a goat or something, I'm sure this is impossible. And even then I wouldn't bet on it.
Cheese Pleese
Thanks heaps Reny Sue. I only recall watching it on 7 up until the point when the twins were just born. I can't remember the twins growing up that much. Looks like I will need to watch FUX Classics now to catch up!

I just thought Michelle was acting like a tool, which was normal.

Thankfully I believe I missed a lot of this. But I agree.

I'm missing FT. So what is the deal with the Olson twin's alleged eating disorders? Does anyone have any links to articles etc? Ta.
emace
Caught the episode where DJ gets to take care of a horse and she magically learns to gallop in just a few days!

She's actually not a bad actresss compared to the other two. When her dad confronts her, "So for a whole week, it's been nothing but lies!" she sounds honestly choked up.

I believe in the end, Michelle got the Oat Boats commercial after she tagged along after Steph.
SusannaB
Close, emace. This was in the Old School Full House Days when the main plots went to Stephanie and DJ. Stephanie got the part while playing with the cereal when DJ went out of the room for some reason.
kariyaki
Ah, the good old days of Full House when Michelle couldn't talk yet and was only really seen in the teaser or a dinner scene where she had baby food all over her face...
RainIsBeautiful
Speaking of Michelle, the Olsens are on the front of this week's People magazine. I read the article -- it's nearly gibberish. Wow.
Cheese Pleese
Oh I asked before about anyone knowing about the rumours about MK? No worries, I read the articles already. Thanks. That said, I really do hope that MK gets help. She is looking sickly.

Oh be warned in my attempts to find out about the rumours I also found out that they will be on Letterman and hosting SNL. Oh and they're in Allure.

Reny Sue, do you get Foxtel? If so, do you bother to watch FH? And if you do what episodes are they up to? Thanks. I've seen the ones during the time where Becky and Jesse are just married quite often but the earlier ones where Michelle couldn't talk and the later ones I haven't seen either for a while or at all.

Ah, the good old days of Full House when Michelle couldn't talk yet and was only really seen in the teaser or a dinner scene where she had baby food all over her face...

So true.

Edited because there's too much off topic stuff in my post.
vagirl2468
The Olsen Twins are going to have a movie called "New York Minute" coming out May 7. Bob Saget is also in it!

I'm definately not going to see this movie!
ChinkyGirl
I was just looking through Entertainment Weekly's website and they had some sidebar that said "The 10 Olsen Twin's Movies that you Have to Rent!" Uh, 10?
vagirl2468
Holy crap! 10 movies? There's no way I'm going to rent any of their movies!
healing fish
I don't think they should be allowed to have 10 movies.
Mine All Mine
They made a lot more than 10 movies. Seems to me that list is probably a top ten list.
ChinkyGirl
Exactly! But how can you describe ANY of their movies in the same sentence as "top"?!
Mine All Mine
Ha! Point taken, ChinkyGirl. I'll rephrase: It's probably a random selection of 10 mediocre movies list.
Cheese Pleese
Okay, I was going to post this in Music Videos but liquidgeneration have done a parody of Roses by Outkast with MKA. It's scarring really. I mean they have Danny, Jesse and Joey (this is the one that makes it scarring the most I think) featured in it.

The bad thing is that it is kind of catchy, well the bit where they parody the bit where Roses goes 'Caroline etc'. Visit www.liquidgeneration.com, I am unable to get the exact url.

ETA: Obviously, not work friendly.
RainIsBeautiful
That is, quite possibly, one of the funniest things I've ever seen online. (Oh, and definitely NOT work-friendly.)
Cheese Pleese
Ah yes it is amusing but disturbing especially since there was that whole Alannis and Uncle Joey thing...ew!

Okay, I've managed to get the direct link. Er...enjoy!
tijmetje
Hee! I just sent it to my brother (Who, by the way also really appreciated the Kirk Cameron test).

And I'm sort of (but not entierly)ashamed to admit I actually have several MKA movies on tape. Some even storebought.
It's an embarrasingly good thing I don't live anywhere near a shop that sells MKA products.
Mine All Mine
That is seriously funny. Thanks for the work warning - I had to wait until I got home to watch, but it was worth it.
jcpdiesel21
Ha! That was absolutely hilarious!

Anyone remember the episode where Danny meets a girl in the supermarket and invites her over for a date, and she brings over two of her friends for Joey and Jesse? The woman turns out to be one of Jesse's exes and awkwardness ensues. I remember one of the other girls was named Zoey and they paired her up with Joey, and she didn't laugh at a single of his lameass jokes. Just like real life, Dave Cool-yay!
sunny605
Today, the Beach Boys couldn't make Danny's show b/c of fog. Not too long ago, the family couldn't go to Disneyland b/c of fog. How convenient for the plots!

slightly OT: I thought we'd be done with the "Brave New Girl" commercials during EVERY ABCfam commercial break after its premiere Sunday...but not so!!! Ugh!
kakistos
Ewww... Joey just kissed a woman. They shouldn't show that kind of thing on TV!

On a slightly related note, how come Joey got the larger and more private basement room while Jesse was stuck upstairs in a tiny pink bunnied room?

Also, who the hell dressed Joey? I often have to change the channel just because of what he's wearing.
ChinkyGirl
Someone please tell me they watched last night's ep. where Danny was attempting to date the leader of Steph's Honey Bee troop...and recognized the lady as Veronica in the made-for-TV movie based on the Archie comics? Just me? Fine! ;)

The video was equal parts disturbing and hilarious...I'm confused! :D
jcpdiesel21
ChinkyGirl, I saw that episode last night, but didn't see the made-for-TV movie, but now I can see the Veronica resemblance since you've mentioned it. Did you see the horrible aqua blue shirt dress that she wore when going on the "official" date with Danny? So 80s!
AbrilOrchid
recognized the lady as Veronica in the made-for-TV movie based on the Archie comics

Hee! I thought she looked familiar!
ChinkyGirl
Much of the fashion from FH makes me gag! I understand it was in the 80's/early 90's, but still! Remember Steph's awful shirt she made in sewing class and gave it to Becky?

Glad to see I'm not to only one who watched "To Riverdale, and Back Again"!
