But Uncle Jesse was so hott! Ha.
Stinger97
Saw the episode where Stephanie and Michelle sneak on a plane that's bound for New Zealand. Danny's beside himself with worry, hoping they're not scared. Cut to Michelle leading a sing-a-long with the rest of the children on the plane. Anyway, they finally return to the airport (after having been to New Zealand), and the only thing Danny does is give them a stern talking to and grounds them.

I don't even know what my point was, but I can't stand that these kids get away with everything.
Anxia

I get what you're saying, and I totally agree -- as a disciplinarian, Danny was more than a little lacking -- but what would be the punishment etiquette in that situation?

This wasn't one of those times I got pissed off at Danny's lax parenting, if only because "Accidentally sneaking on a plan to New Zealand" is one of those things that's simply too bizarre to have a set standard for what constitutes a proper punishment. Telling the girls that what they did was selfish, stupid, and wrong, then grounding them for a month, felt more or less alright to me -- and, seeing as how the girls felt sorry for their actions later, it seemed to work somewhat.
badassspike
What I hated is that even though Michelle misbehaves, she is still not considered a bad kid. I can see her growing up to be an out of control teen girl going on Maury Povich. If you don't discipline your kids, they turn out that way.
sjbrown25
Michelle will grow up into Dawson Leery.
Drew T.
Even Dawson would look at Michelle and say she's spoiled. I honestly believe it.
PepSinger
The ep where Mr. Bond, Lou Bond, wants to buy the house is on ABC Family now. Also known as, reason #7,824 why Michelle needs to be destroyed. Why oh why do they give her so much power? The man is willing to give them twice the property's worth and Danny turns it down, why? Because his 8-year-old daughter doesn't want to leave. Well, screw her, she'll get over it. I don't know why they let Michelle have a say in anything. She's a child.
Word. My mom would tell me to suck it up if I tried that.

Is this the episode where Kimmy goes, "I'm the next door neighbor" in a British accent? Cause that was hilarious.
McKay
I tend to forget how much the Rigby the Rhino episode bugs me until I watch it. What really gets my blood boiling is that Joey is encouraging these kids to harass that poor schmuck in the rhino suit. Either it's the "actor" who stands in the suit on the show or, more likely, some poor college schmuck trying to make some extra cash. It's not actually Rigby the Rhino, you idiots! It's understandable that Michelle and Denise wouldn't get that, or get the fact that "Rigby" likely has nothing to do with the merchandising of the show and is, in fact, just an actor. But Joey's (theoretically) an adult! He should know how these things work!

And frankly, I still think "people will rip you off so be careful what you spend your money on" was a better lesson. Even the "failed" protest would've been okay, if maddening. But the fact that she apparently swayed an entire corporation into giving away newer, nicer toys to every child who didn't read the fine print in the commercial? That's so fucking ridiculous.

The show wasn't always so bad, was it?
gilmored
Is it still weird that a little small part of me wonders what the FH reunion movie would be like? lol

Yeah, but it wouldn't be as interesting.

Sometimes I wonder.

I love Jesse, but the man was a far bigger dork than he'd ever admit.

Yeah, the show had a very strange, out-of-touch view of what was 'cool.' Like Jesse, who I'm assuming is supposed to be the hip, irreverent, rebellious character listens to Elvis, writes craptacular bubblegum pop and wears a leather jacket sometimes. How edgy.... It's sort of like the type of character your grandmother would come up with if asked to write someone 'cool.' (Oh, and the same thing with Joey: what kind of comedy clubs are letting him do his famous "Rocky and Bullwinkle" impression anyway?)

Jesse's whole Elvis fetish kind of confused me. I mean, sure there's nothing wrong with listening to Elvis and you can still be badass if you do but the fact that so many of the characters seemed to associate Elvis with edginess and controversy seemed bizarrely anachronistic to me. I remember in one of the earlier episodes, one of Jesse's girlfriends characterized him as (not exact quote) "a rebellious, motorcycle-riding, Elvis-listening type." I mean, this is the late 80s/90s, no? On what planet is Elvis still considered rebellious?

On a whole, I like this show because it reminds me of my childhood but I can still barely sit through an episode nowadays without cringing and rolling my eyes so much that it becomes physically painful. It's not any one thing--but Joey's almost unbearably corny 'comedy', Michelle's brattiness, the laugh track and worst of all, the Sentimental Music of Family Reconciliation ™ taken together make me want to assault the screen.

But then again, early seasons Stephanie is cute.
RainIsBeautiful
I always liked Stephanie, and I almost always liked DJ and Kimmy. The rest? Lights out in the attic. Even Becky went from cool to aggravating.
agockows

Sadly enough, Dave Coulier is actually touring with that schtick to this day. My brothers friend saw him at a comedy club a year or so ago and said he did all of the things that Joey does-cut it out, Bullwinkle, Popeye. He said it was like sitting through "Full House Live." So, as ridiculous as it seems that a fictional character would be hired to perform that nonsense, it is even more bizarre that 10 plus years later the actor behind said character is performing cartoon voices at comedy clubs across the country. I guess he figures that's what people want to see him do.
One thing I never really noticed/thought about until now: why does Michelle have about thirty pairs of shoes?!
Why, it's because she's Queen Michelle, of course and can have anything her little heart desires! I so want to smack her & Danny both in the Lew Bond, don't sell the house episode.

The comment about Jesse's cool dance when he was only kicking his leg out to the side has me giggling madly, for some reason. And I need to get a life, because I wish FH were still on at 9PM during the week, instead of the show that replaced it.

Oh please, he couldn't come up with anything new all these years later? Those impressions were never funny to begin with, and the "cut it out" gesturing is just stupid.
tamariskie

It was kinda funny the first time. After every joke, it gets old, and it doesn't even make sense. He was telling the audience to stop appluading him.
agsquared
The episode with Joey's smart girlfriend Roxy was on today, and all I have to say is that no one in that family knows how to take a joke. Also, Michelle has no idea how to use a voucher at an electronics store, and for that, she really sucks.
sjbrown25
Do NOT get me started on the whole electronics store thing. Okay, Danny decides to let Michelle make the decision. I suppose that's fair enough, although it would have made more sense for her to be merely the tiebreaker between the TV and karaoke machine, and not let her come up with her choice herself. But then she makes a stupid, idiotic choice, and ... he goes along with it. See, I don't think it's nice to let your kid think that their ideas count, tell them that they can have a say in something, and then just override it when you don't agree with it. That wouldn't be nice. However. It was a stupid, stupid choice she made, and that's where being the parent comes in. Step in, tell her that it's not a good choice and no one in the family is going to be happy with it, and ask her to pick something else. I do think Michelle must emanate some kind of hypnotic ray from her eyeballs or something that renders otherwise intelligent adults into simpering morons who lose all grasp of common sense to bend to her will and command.
emace
My parents, who weren't wealthy, would sometimes take my sister and me shopping and dramatically say we could get anything we wanted in the store. Of course, we instinctively knew better, and didn't pick the outrageous items, except to make a joke.

Michelle is an idiot. I hope the Olsen twin with the eating disorder has gotten her life back together, though.
FairyChica78
Is it still weird that a little small part of me wonders what the FH reunion movie would be like?

No. I have thought about a FH reunion movie couple of times (Would DJ be married with a "full house" of her own? Would Stephanie have a drug addiction? Would Michelle have an eating disorder? Wait, that's real life! More importantly, who would play Michelle...Mary Kate or Ashley? What would be your choice? Did Danny ever kick Joey out of the house? Did Danny ever get re-married? Did Becky and Jesse have more kids and finally move out of that damn attic?) and I would probably even watch a FH reunion movie. The question is, will it ever happen? Probably not.

After the first craptastic "Growing Pains" reunion movie, I even tuned in for the second and worst "Growing Pains" reunion movie so far. Hell, if they made a 3rd "Growing Pains" reunion movie, I still would tune in, Kirk "Complete Tool" Cameron and all.

Count me in as one who would like the Full House reunion movie. That show left too many questions unanswered when it went off the air. I actually own all four seasons that have pretty recently come out on DVD. Now how sad is that?
Laval
I wonder if you guys know that the 5th season DVD will be available in December. Frankly, I will not buy it because thats when Full House went to hell in a handbasket. The last 4 seasons were pure garbage. DJ got uglier & dumber, Kimmy bore me to tears, poor sweet Stephanie got dull & wasn't as pretty as the first 4 seasons, and the presence of Michelle & her friend Denise makes me want to vomit. Nikki & Alex sucked, Jesse becomes a namby-pamby, Becky puts me to sleep, Joey is still a loser, and Danny is still a moron. No wonder Vicki wants nothing to do with him.

What was the point of those Full House books? They're terrible.
McKay
But then she makes a stupid, idiotic choice, and ... he goes along with it.

I know! He says something stupid like, "Personally I was angling for the washer/dryer" with this face like, "well, what could I do, my seven-year-old wouldn't let me!"

Honestly, at that age I wouldn't have made a good major household decision either. Which is probably why my parents didn't allow me to make any...
FairyChica78

Not too sad as I own all four seasons on DVD as well. I'll probably end up buying the entire series on DVD. Seriously, I don't know why I should though.

I remember when I met Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron at my hometown mall the summer after "Full House" ended and lots of little kids brought those Stephanie and Michelle "Full House" books to be signed. For some reason, under Jodie Sweetin's management's request, Jodie wouldn't sign any of the "Full House" books while Candace Cameron was signing them left and right. Hell, I remember seeing Candace sign a Michelle doll or two.
pafirefly
A few months ago, Candace spoke at my friend's church in our podunk PA hometown. I was going to go for the sheer oddness of seeing Candace Cameron speak in a church held in my old Middle School, but I overslept. Curious if she'd come back.
Pointe3579
Glad to know that I am not the only one who likes to re-live the Full House days. Every one in awhile a good cheesy early 90's show is somewhat entertaining to watch.
Btal
In the episode where Michelle chooses an expensive household item, what does she pick? I forget.
sjbrown25
A life-sized cardboard cutout of Big Sid the Appliance Guy with Little Sid the Bird on his shoulder.

I never thought there were any unanswered questions. After the show ended I was glad that it did.

That's weird. Then what did Jodie sign because the fans probably only brought the books and I don't know if there are Stephanie dolls.

Why had Jesse become so effeminate?

Why was Joey such a douchebag?

Why did the whole family take it up the ass for Michelle?
Drew T.
You know, I watched Papouli's death today, and I have to give one of the Olsen's credit. Despite her limitations, she acted the hell out of the scene on the boat with Jesse. I mean, there were a few minor facial flaws, but overall, it was probably the peak (and really the only good moment) of the entire talking Michelle run. I think so, at least.

Stupid episode, though. Not as bad as Stavros.
Pointe3579
I caught this thing on TV this afternoon, I think on the E! channel about the making of Full House. It talked about casting for the various parts, etc. The Olsens were apparently almost replaced because the rest of the cast thought the babies were too fussy, yet they loved the character of Michelle. Go figure.
Halfpint Ingals
Yea, I watched that. I remember when the board was talking about it, well I guess it's the True Hollywood Story and so much was focused on the Olsen twins.
RainIsBeautiful
Speaking of the Olsens, it's being bantered about the Project Runway forums that they'll be guest stars on next week's episode (Wednesday at 10ET on Bravo). That should be interesting...designing for munchkin bag ladies...
RoxieVelma
RE: Project Runway

One of the designers says something to the effect that she can't design something for the Olsen Twins, which leads me to believe it's NOT them. I doubt they'd reveal the name of the surprise guests on the promo.
Screamie
I was watching the episode where they introduce Viper/Joey is Michelle substitute teacher. It reminded me of something that's always bugged me. Jesse has supposedly grown up with Danny, right? Then why was he totally shocked to know that Danny went to college "on a billiard scholarship" AND that Danny was (somehow) fantastic with an electric guitar? Was it supposed to point out that Jesse is a self-absorbed douchebag?

ETA: Oh yeah, and that he minored in darts.
sjbrown25
Actually, Jesse is supposed to be five years younger than Danny and Joey. The thing that always bugged me was about Jesse's not having graduated high school. Danny married Jesse's sister when Jesse was 13 (this is stated in an episode, and it fits with Danny's age and D.J.'s age in any season). You'd think Danny would have noticed this about his wife's brother if he'd known him that long.
Corbinxxa84
It's implied in an early episode that Jesse, Danny, and Joey all met in grade school and became best friends. If that were true, wouldn't Jesse know the sordid story of Patty... FOGERTY and not need to ask about it?
sjbrown25
It's implied that Danny and Joey became best friends in grade school. Jesse is five years younger than them, and Young Jesse in the flashback scene is clearly a few years younger than Young Danny and Joey. His inclusion in that scene doesn't mean he started hanging out with them then. He was just in the same elementary school, it was just part of a gag (Jesse was chasing the girls even way back then at age six-ish).

So, no, Jesse wouldn't necessarily know the story of Patty Fogerty. At that point, when Danny and Joey were in college, Joey was merely Jesse's sister's husband's friend, not his own friend.

sjbrown25 :
Michelle's a doodie head.

Just felt like saying it. Again. 'Cause it can't be said enough. Carry on.

Can I say it with you? I hated the last few seasons because every epidose was about cute, cuddly, Michelle. Michelle's feelings got hurt...awww...lets make everybody bow down to apologize.

The episode that pissed me off the most? When Michelle was crowned princess of the day at Walt Disney World, when it should have been Stepahine. HATE.

I also hated Jesse's obvious favoritism towards Michelle. However, this began way back in the earlier seasons. When Jesse left the house (I think it was after the gang barged in on him and his girlfriend, when they were supposed to be in Disneyland), he came back only because DJ and Steph told him Michelle was sick. Again, HATE.
sjbrown25

Totally with you. And Michelle cheated! She kept rubbing and rubbing the lamp until the Genie came out. The other kids they showed before her just gave it a little two-second rub and moved on. CHEATER!

he came back only because DJ and Steph told him Michelle was sick.

I can only imagine what his reaction would have been if D.J. called to say that Stephanie was sick:

"Oh, that's too bad. But Michelle's okay, though, right? Make sure Stephanie doesn't breathe her germs on her! Better yet, you should have Stephanie sleep in the backyard so she doesn't infect the baby. Time to hit the slopes. See ya, Deej!" *Click*.

Michelle was always horrible to Stephanie. Remember the episode where Stephanie is rehearsing for a play with a friend, and Michelle keeps bugging them and says something outloud that Stephanie didn't want repeated? (What exactly did she say?) But that was really mean of Michelle.

And I love how delusional she is to actually believe Steve would marry her.

Question: What grades were the three girls in by the time the show ended?
sjbrown25

12th, 7th, 3rd.

Thanks, sjbrown25.

Seems like you're referring to the finale where Michelle and Becky chastize Stephanie for having dry lips. When a boy comes over to rehearse the play, Michelle makes some kind of crack about it. Stephanie bitches at her, rightfully so, and then later, when Michelle has amnesia, Stephanie apologizes.
PepSinger
That's the one, Drew T.! I hated Michelle when she did that.
queenfrostine
I hated Michelle when she did that.

I imagine that could be said after watching the vast majority of the episodes.

That's exactly what it was. She kept calling her cactus lips or something in front of that guy. One of my most hated episodes, which is unfortunate, because it is the next to last episode. And of course, the last two episodes of the series HAD to revolve around Michelle. Ugh.
I hated Michelle when she did that.

Seriously, Amen.
tip and fall
I just saw the Michelle-wants-to-be-Yankee-Doodle episode. And honestly, Michelle flat-out sucked. She couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. That silent little Asian girl who didn't like the song would have been better.
boomersmommy
I saw the Kimmy's birthday episode early Saturday morning when I couldn't sleep. It was one of the few times I hated DJ. I could almost forgive her forgetting and trying to have a party, but when she accused Kimmy of being jealous of Steve, that was just nasty and hateful. Poor Kimmy. She tried to make the best of that crappy party and that's what she got for it.
McKay
See, when Michelle auditioned for Yankee Doodle Dandy or whatever the show was called, that's partly what annoyed me so much, the fact that she was horrible. What annoyed me more, though, was how Danny was so appalled that they didn't give Michelle the part even though she wasn't the best kid to audition. I'm not quite sure what was being implied - that Danny thought she should have gotten the part regardless, or that no one could possibly be better than she was?

I did love that Joey and Jesse clearly saw how horrible she was, as they made her the Statue of Liberty. Who (which?) didn't sing and had one line.
