I don't recall that episode at all. However, I do agree with whomever said that this show gets so much slack now because the target demographic has since grown up. I LOVED this show as a kid, but now, everytime I watch it, I can't help but chuckle.
I blame Full House for making me believe that all my problems can be solved with a hug in one afternoon.

I blame Full House for introducing the world to the Olsen twins and to everyone's eventual obsession about them turning 18.
And I don't know why I was wondering this today but here it goes anyways.
Various injuries and maladies that effected the Full House family:
Jesse had broken arms
DJ had that diet problem
Kimmy got drunk once
Michele got amnesia
Danny was obsessive compulsive when it came to cleaning
That's all I can think of.

Ooh! Great idea, Random Watcher.
Let's see...
Stephanie, Joey and Jesse had the chicken pox. (Which led to a scary HoYay! scene between Joey and Jesse which Friends totally ripped off later. Tsk, tsk, Friends writers. You know you're losing your touch when you turn to Full House for inspiration...)
Stephanie suffered from mild anxiety attacks after the earthquake and had to see a psychologist because she couldn't deal with her fear of losing her father.
Jesse had appendicitis as Becky was giving birth to the bruddahs.

Michelle as a method of birth control should have transcended beyond TV world. Every time she opens her mouth, I swear, I get the same feeling of icky I get when I watch Supernanny.

Yeah, I don't know why I so clearly remember that part of the episode. IIRC, it was in the teaser, and is never played in the syndicated airings--I only remember it from its original airing. Funny how things stick in your head for no reason whatsoever. Now if only I can figure out a way to remove my Michelle memories without resorting to a lobotomy.

That may be why I don't remember it. I always found it weird but kind of cool that they never addressed Jodi's broken arm on the show (that I knew about). Like that was just something that happened to the character off camera, and we didn't have to waste any time with the exposition fairy explaining it away, since it didn't factor into any of the plots. It amused me that FH would, just this once, take the route of subtlety and realism. And now I learn I was giving the show too much credit.

Lovin' this topic. Can't forget that crucial episode where baby Michelle was sick and Jesse and Joey had to feed her cough medicine.
And, speaking of sick baby Michelle, there was also the two-parter in which Jesse decides he's had enough of the Tanner/Gladstone party and wants out. He moves out and goes on a ski trip with all his musician buddies and a beautiful girlfriend, only to recieve a call from DJ and Stephanie that "Michelle is sick" (as a ploy to get him back.) Of course, he drops his hot girl and all of his friends upon hearing this, and moves back in forever. I think that was the only time Jesse TRULY questioned the insanity of this whole scenario. Anyway, I don't think it counts since Michelle wasn't really sick, but should be mentioned.
On another note, SEASON 3 COMES OUT APRIL 4th! Any other nerdbombers out there going to cave in like me and buy it?

All righty then! 239 pages! It's taken about a month to get through it but I did it. Hilarious stuff this is. I never realized so many other people felt the same way I did about the later seasons becoming "The Michelle Show". That irked me. Didn't keep me from watching it but I still didn't like it. I was about mid-twenties when this show first came on & I watched every single one. Not so much anymore because now that I have kids it really grates on my nerves how the adults were never the adults but just plot foil or a snappy comeback for one of the kids. I worked nights so I would tape it & have a lovely time viewing it when I got home. I can probably still tell you what episode is coming on within a few minutes of the show starting. My 4 y/o daughter watches it most every night on N@N. She'll ask when Mary-Kate & Ashley is coming on. She doesn't repeat any of their cutesy sayings though. Thank God! Every once in a while I'll tell her "You got it, Dude" as an answer in the affirmative & she just looks at me like I'm nuts. I guess she's smart.
So anyway, one of the Stephanie phrases that I still use to this day is from when Jesse was trying to do everything & ended up booking his band in two different places on the same night. Instead of cancelling he enlists the help of "the family" to play backup for him, including Kimmy Gibbler. First of all, that girl was multi-talented. She could act, she was funny, she could ride a unicycle & play instruments. So the next morning Stephanie brought a review of the performance to Jesse to read. One of the reviews was that "Kimmy Gibbler was adorable..." and Stephanie says "Don't you mean a doorbell?" I tell my kids & my husband that they're a doorbell when I'm commenting on how they look. Even my husband does it to the kids sometimes & he's probably never watched one episode of FH.
Another Kimmy episode I like was the one where she & DJ skipped school to go get Stacey Q's autograph. Stacey Q is signing the picture of Kimmy and asks her if there are two m's in Kimmy. She answer something along the lines of, two m's, a y, a k & an I, but not in that order. I just loved the older episodes. Once Michelle started talking it was all Michelle, all the time. Don't get me wrong, I loved MK & A back in the day. I thought it was really neat to see them essentially grow up on TV, their first steps, first words, etc. I just really hoped they wouldn't turn out like all the other teenage girls, be mostly normal & not have the tabloids on them at every turn. I guess it was not to be. Suffice to say, I hated Michelle in the later seasons. And those twins really bit too. They should've just kept up the tradition of letting babies grow up on the show & not had Nicky & Alex be infants at the end of one season & pre-schoolers the beginning of the next. The least they could've done was hire twins that could speak. Oh, I forgot, speech impediments are cute. I'm gonna go get some ousecream now. (Sadly, I still use that one sometimes too).

The older episodes were great. In the one where Joey grounds DJ for being a horrible brat, Michelle is constantly jonesing for a cookie. When Joey makes her breakfast and feels bad that she won't eat, she does and then slaps Jesse's hand away when he tries to steal some. It reminded me that Michelle was quite a cute little baby.

Oh, we remember. Most of us watched and loved Full House in the late 80s/early 90s.
As for our constant snarking on the show, well...mullets and day-glo spandex were popular in the 80s, but that doesn't mean they're okay by today's standards. ;)

I think that Stephanie's friend Harry & that kid Derek (who I really like) should of been regular characters on Full House. I always like Derek. He was very mean to Danny, Joey, Jesse, and Michelle & he has a great sense of humor doing it. You can't say that about Michelle Tanner. I think that Full House should of kept Harry & they should of never brought Gia to the show. I thought Harry & Stephanie were cute together. You also can't say that about Michelle Tanner.

I love Stephanie's friend Harry. It annoyed me how he only appeared a couple of times when Michelle's posse in later years were practically regulars. At least Aaron (the only person in the Full House universe with the balls to verbally smack down the Tanners) was a part of the group, but screen time for him meant screen time for Michelle was she was at her absolute worst as a character.

Ahem...a certain geekburger may or may not turn up in Best Buy this month...
I had a problem with all the characters (except Stephanie, DJ, and Kimmy, because they're awesome) but the biggest gripe I had with Danny was the way he treated Kimmy. It was like "hey lets be funny! Lets snark at an innocent, usually well-meaning kid! With no mercy!" It just annoyed me so much how Danny could get away with being so constantly nasty to Kimmy. Now if another parent even
dared to talk like that to Michelle, he would have spent an afternoon crusading the city, rounding up unsuspecting civilians, luring them with hugs, and then chase the other adult out of town with torches and pitchforks.

Danny's snark with Kimmy mainly didn't bother me because it didn't seem to bother her, but she also didn't seem to be written as too stupid to get what he was saying. She just took it in stride and shot right back with some of her own. Looking at it objectively, though, it was pretty fucked-up. But I remember one episode - I think it was the Smush Club one - where Kimmy actually told Jesse that he hurt her feelings with some of his comments and he apologized. It sounded genuine, too. Nice to see that the writers weren't completely oblivious as to how it came off sometimes.
And I loved the old-school Kimmy/Stephanie dynamic. Hee.

Sorry about that. I always get that character's name confused. I thought his name was Derek. Thank god he's not like that idiot Blake (Macualy Culkin wanna-be) or one of Michelle's stupid friends, Denise. I never liked Denise.
Should I have sympathy for Steve? He really like D.J. (Why couldn't this have happened in the first season, when D.J. actually looks cute (not as cute as Stephanie)? It would of been more interesting) & he seems like a nice guy, but he had to put up with the stupidity of the Tanners (especially from Danny & Michelle).

Oh my. Yes, this character's name was Derek, played by Blake McIver Ewing--and word to the Macaulay Culkin thing, but a little gayer. (Little = A LOT) I never cared much for Denise, or Teddy. I only liked Derek in the last season with his hag, er, friend, Lisa. Aaron was a joy in any season.
I often got the idea that the writers never quite knew what to do with Steve. It's like, hi, here's D.J.'s first real boyfriend guy, now ... go! He really didn't have much to do on his own. Kimmy mainly existed to be D.J.'s friend/annoying neighbor, but at least she got a storyline or two over the years. Ah well. And how realistic that Steve was more than happy to have his girlfriend's friend tag along with them every single place they went, every single day. Right. They could have had a minor plot dealing with that. But then, the extent of addressing D.J./Steve "sex" (gasp!) in "The Apartment" was her turning a lamp off and back on and mentioning that her slutty friend gets extra credit for getting knocked up in high school. How very scandalous indeed. I hope they put a viewer discretion warning before that episode originally aired.

I remember that. I think that was the only time they ever acknowledged one of the three (Danny, Joey, Jesse) hurting Kimmy's feelings. Jesse and Kimmy got locked in the store room together at the Smash Club. But like said, because it didn't bother Kimmy, I guess it never bothered me. Though it is sort of messed up in retrospect.
As far as snarking on Full House, people have been snarking on this show since its original run. As much as I loved it a little kid and didn't care, there was a point where I started realizing how silly the show was sometimes. The media had a field day with it too, but that doesn't mean this show has a huge place in pop culture.
I honestly haven't seen that many shows like this that were a major hit with one generation and have since become a major hit with a second generation. It's amazing to see how kids still respond to it in all its cheesiness. So like it or not, this show will definitely wind up being a tv classic...annoying Michelle and all.
Also kudos on the Harry love. I always wished he would be on more. I loved when he and Stephanie got married.

Now I really wish that I was a bit older so that I could have wateched the show in it's original run (I've just turned 18, a bit less than 2 years younger than the Troll Sisters from Hell). Sure, syndication is great because it's on all the time, but it doesn't have the feel of a show in its original run. Plus, ABC Family and Nick at Night cut the show to crap (and they cut it in the worst places, mangling any sense of continuity).
Anyway, the 90's sure must have been fun for a pre-teen/teen....I was a bit too young to enjoy those years fully and remember them, though (although the 80's must have been pretty fun too. That is, of course, basing all my 80's knowledge on VH1's I Love the 80's series and all the music and movies to have come out in that decade).
