Here's what I never understood about Full House and many other sitcoms.
The teens who were usually like 14 would go to the mall at whim. Now, I live in the suburbs and the mall is definately not a hop skip and a jump away. You definatly can't walk there. But DJ would always go to the mall with Kimmy. She had no car...remember the hole in the wall episode? And I can't imagine Danny's kids taking the bus. Especially at night. Remember when DJ went bowling with Danny during their special father/daughter time and she ditched him to go to the mall with Kimmy? I doubt Danny would let DJ ride the bus in the night. Unless Kimmy's mom or brother Garth took them. I just remember before I could drive, going to the mall was a planned out thing. We didn't just go.
And about the Vicky's dinner episode: Goat cheese really does not taste that much different than regular pizza cheese. Maybe kind of crumbly. In fact it's really good. And it does not smell! Stupid DJ. "Is it supposed to smell like that?" Stupid Full House. Now the pesto thing, some people don't like pesto, so I can understand kids not liking it. And oh! This thing really annoys me. Vicky said it was spaghetti with pesto sauce, but did anyone really look at the noodles they were eating? They were large and flat. That wasn't spaghetti! That looked like fettucini noodles to me.
Does anyone remember the Sushi episode where Danny goes crazy after breaking up with Vicky and he rearranged the house and tried to grow a 'stache? The family was eating sushi on the floor and the meal was oh so strange and exotic. Now I know this was more than 10 years ago but hasn't sushi been en vouge for a while now? Because they live in a big city like San Francisco I expected them to be a little more...cultured, I guess. Sushi does not automatically mean raw fish. They could have got some California rolls for Michelle so she wouldn't have to eat squid.

CrazyCamper, those details always irked me too. I have always been the least pickiest person ever when it comes to food, so as a kid I really liked stuff like "weird" cheese and pesto sauce. And sushi really isn't that weird. If you can get over what's actually in it, it's very good. Whenever my mom gave me a new food to try that I didn't want, she would always say, "Would I really give you something that would kill you? Just try it!" I'll always remember that. I was so mad at the "Full House" kids for being so close-minded.
Then again, we are talking about "Full House". Hee.

I never thought I'd say this, but now I really, really want to try some goat cheese pizza.
And DJ was way too old to make the "is it supposed to smell like that?" comment. You might expect it from a kid Michelle's age, especially since she was such a brat, but DJ was what, sixteen?

I always assumed Vicki put feta cheese on the pizza, which smells much more rank than regular pizza mozzarella.

On the goat cheese though, I am very open when it comes to trying new foods and I am not picky at all, however I hate goat cheese. I have tried it numerous times, but every time I can not finish whatever its on because I just don't like the taste and smell. Yes, I think there is a teensy bit of smell to it, however, I am not rude like DJ and would never have said that for fear of getting smacked upside the head. Now if it was feta cheese pizza, I would love it.
I also do think it's weird that Vicky in trying to impress the family would make that meal. I would think she would try to make something she knew everyone would like.
However, as a kid I always had to eat what was put before me, but as I see now with my cousins and her friends, they are ALL very picky eaters, in part because their parents let them get away with it and don't force them to try things. I eat meals with my cousin and various friends often and you would be surprised at the amount of complaining these children do (at other people's houses) about what they will and won't eat, so I do think the kids are in character for spoiled children of the 90's. However, it is a little out of line with Danny who would be all about the children not wasting their food.

Yes! That bugs me every time I watch the episode because...dude, the Tanners live in SF. Asian restaurants are on practically every corner (okay, that might be an exaggeration). Sure, Chinese restaurants might be more prevalent than Japanese sushi houses, but still. I refuse to believe that sitting on the floor, using chopsticks, and eating sushi can be a totally foreign experience.
But then again, this is Full House.

I love that there is an active thread on this show! I was never a watcher back in the day, but I have two kids now (5 & 7) who search for this show on our cable and watch when it's on. They laugh and laugh at little Michelle and I laugh and laugh inside knowing what those cute little twins turn out to be. It's a nice sitcom for the young ones to watch and lucky for them there are about 3 or 4 different cable networks that show it on any given day.

I've always been a somewhat picky eater - I'll try anything, but I don't like a lot of things. I was never forced to eat anything I didn't like, but if I was at someone else's house or a relative was cooking for us, you bet your ass I'd shut up and pretend to like it, no matter how gross I found it. Heh. I wasn't trained to do that specifically, either, it just followed the idea of not hurting peoples' feelings. I suppose Danny raised his little pwincess Michelle to only care about her own feelings, though.

Goat cheese made a second appearance when Stavros came and ordered goat cheese pizza with like goat liver on it or something. And a regular pizza chain apparently delivered it. I don't know any pizza place that isn't a greek restaurant that has and delivers goat cheese pizza.
Food is really weird on Full House. Like on Tanner Family Fun Night they went to that weird sea food pirate themed place? And Stephanie ordered a dish that was basically a huge bowl of marine life that was still alive.

Half greek, ha. The Tanner daughters are some of the whitest people ever to grace television. I think that the producers and script-writers seemed to had forgotten that they were in fact of Mediterranean parentage. Although, it is possible (and even somewhat plausible) that their appearance does not necessarily exhibit their actual lineage (I should talk, both of my parents are olive-skinned Italians and I'm about the whitest person in school lol). Some people have even mistaken my mom for Greek. Maybe I'm a lost Tanner!

Jesse's real name is Hermes. Which Michelle of course had a field day with, when that was revealed. "Hi...Uncle
Hermes..."

The "door named Dad" episode was on today. Despite the unintentional hilarity of some of the lines, it was actually a pretty touching episode. They gave it to the cast members who could more or less act, Jodie and John, and their scenes came off as pretty genuine. As genuine as FH gets, anyway. And Michelle actually got in trouble, which was a nice bonus.

She realized that she "was living a total double life," she said. "I was married to a police officer — we are going through a divorce right now — he had no idea."
Oh, sad. I wonder if they tried to work through it?
Sweetin has been clean and sober since March of last year and now wants to get back into acting.
I had no idea this happened so long ago...why did it take a year for the press to pick up on it?

I remember Jodie saying that she wants to be a set teacher. She was inspired by her own set teacher whom she considered a role model. Not that I don't wish her well in acting, but I think she'd make a great teacher. Not just in terms of academics, but also with passing along her experiences. I'm happy she's clean, and best of luck to her.

Yeah, the timing is weird. Yesterday morning, GMA had Leif Garrett on talking about how he's about to go back into rehab, so I surmise they're doing a whole weeklong series on child stars and addiction. (Who's next? Skippy from Family Ties?)
This topic is so old, sadly, that I'm not sure why the weeklong focus. But it is a shame that the old adage about child stars getting into trouble keeps proving true.

OK, is it sad that my first response to reading the Jodie story (didn't watch the GMA piece, just read it online) was "wow- how messed up do you have to be for freakin' Mary Kate Olsen to be involved in your intervention??" Yes I'm bitter and jaded, or something like that.
Although, at the rate that my childhood stars are falling, I won't be too surprised by anything revelaed in the "Boy Meets World: E True Hollywood Story" or anything. :)

Awww, there's something sweet in Danny Tanner being at your intervention. Like it'll all end with a hug or something. :)

I didn't think the Tanners lived the far-flung suburbs, I thought they lived in a nice part of town. I lived in a pretty good part of town growing up and I could walk two blocks to a major mall when I was 8 if I took a friend so I wouldn't be alone. Once I was allowed to take the bus, there were literally tens of malls within easy distance. Tens, I tell you!
I can't imagine not being allowed to go to the mall at 14.

I only just saw that article today as well. I'm shocked that she was addicted up until March last year. IIRC she was on a few VH1 specials last year, one about former child stars and she mentioned nothing about it. According to the segment her life had been all peaches and apricots since the end of Full House and that she was happily married (obviously before the recent divorce). She looked healthy too. Surprised that she was doing it daily for a year but her husband had no idea?

I just watched "Our Very First Christmas Show" (second season) on DVD and...my goodness, the Tanners would be the worst people to sit next to on an airplane! There's one moment where Michelle swipes the wig off some crochety old man because it reminds her of a cat. The man is understandably upset and swipes the wig back. Michelle starts crying. And then Jesse snipes at the man for making a little kid cry on Christmas Eve! And then Jesse, Joey, and Danny start singing to Michelle to calm her down. While Jesse is standing in the aisle (and, considering how cramped airplanes are, the buffer zone normally provided by aisles is very important to a pleasant flying experience, imo--no unnecessary standing in the aisles should be tolerated).
If I had been a passenger on that plane, I would have smacked one of them. Probably Michelle.
Plus, Michelle isn't a little kid, Jesse. She's El Diablo.

That Christmas at the airport eppy was annoying. I hated how the Tanners had the run of the plane-and of course the stewardess sides with them and not the crotchety man-with-hairpiece who should've gotten the seat in first class. I was so hoping he would smash Danny's video cam.

Actually, your surmising isn't far off at all. I haven't seen the interview of Good Day America, but someone I know has said that she did actually say "how rude"; obviously she said it in a joking manner, in order to diffuse whatever tensions there were.
