Obviously, I'm the old lady of the group, 'cause pre-school didn't exist (at least not that I know of) at the time I would've been of age to attend-just kindergarten.
Family channel had a Full House marathon yesterday (Sunday). I'm afraid I watched most of it-I really need to get a life......A good "please let me smack Michelle" eppy was the family reunion picnic one, when Michelle gave Jesse all kinds of grief because he wanted to stay home and get his song written. Aww, and poor Steph-I saw (for the first time) the one where she was bummed about being the middle kid, as DJ and of course, Michelle were getting all the attention. Last week they ran "The Letter" episode, which I've got to say, is one episode that I think is genuinely funny.

Yeah, "The Letter" episode is also my favorite. And the paper-boy was funny in the way that he was supposed to be SO cool, and he really...wasn't.
That and the one with "The Dad song" are my favorites, and Michelle isn't the center of anyone of them and therefore doesn't seem so annoying.

I also found that pinching thing funny. It wasn't good advice, but it's old-school and realistic.
True. When my brother was in kindergarten, some kid kept kicking him on the playground. My dad told my brother to tell the kid "If you try that again, I'll knock all your teeth out." My mom got mad, because she's more of a "use your words, not your fists" type person. Anyways, the threat worked. The kid never touched my brother again. Nowdays, you'd get sued over using a threat like that.
I watched the marathon and loved the episode where Stephanie drove the car into the kitchen. Only because she runs away to Becky's house. That is a nice house - big, two story. Why on god's green earth she willingly gave that up to move into Danny's tiny attic is beyond me. After seeing Jesse get practically suicidal over being away from his family for one night, girlfriend should have filed for divorce and gotten the hell out of there.

So Michelle could have her way again, as usual!

LOL!
Oh my gosh, I
so wanted to smack Danny when he was videotaping Michelle and ignoring Steph when she wanted to hula-hoop for him. It was such blatant favoritism.

Last night we watched the one with Leo Bond, "Leo, Bond Leo.. No that's not right!" trying to buy the house from them. They were all so excited to move out and have more space, their own rooms, HOT TUBS, but Michelle had to have her way. I know it's been discussed (a lot) in this thread, but I HATED this episode. Ugh ugh ugh!

Ugh, Michelle and her annoying gang of rugrat thugs messing up the house so it would look as though the foundation was messed up. So stupid. And of course Saint Michelle Who is the Queen of All Things shows the family the error of their ways and that they should all remain in the same house together for the rest of their freakin' lives. God forbid Jesse and Rebecca should get their own place to raise their family. God forbid Joey should get his own place and have a fighting chance of getting laid. Nope, they're all going to live together. Thanks, Saint Michelle!

I really hated Michelle in that episode when Becky and Jesse do their "taxes." She was so mad that she didn't get to spend time with Uncle Jesse anymore that she had Joey bring Jesse all her messages. First of all, way to show the kid that Not Everything's About Her. Not. Second of all, give Jesse and Becky some alone time, they're newlyweds and they just moved into this runt of an attic so MEchelle won't be saaaaaaaaad. Third of all, get a life!
Ugh. Gag me with something shiny.

I love all the Michelle snark! Was there ever a more annoying child in a TV series than her? Nah, don't think so. Of course, if we want to be fair (do we?) the kid's every wish was granted and everyone was always bowing and scraping and running to do her bidding, so it's no wonder she turned out to be such an infuriating brat.
BondGirl
Nov 28, 2005 @ 6:32 pm
For what it's worth, I recall Jesse and Rebecca gently, but quite firmly telling Michelle that they wanted to be alone, only to have her try to play dumb and act like she didn't know what they meant. And they were genuinely annoyed when Joey brought Michelle back (despite knowing full well what was going on up there).
The point being, it wasn't all happy, happy, joy, joy.
At that point, I would have been far more pissed off at Joey. Michelle's an annoying little brat, but so are most little kids, and it stands to reason that she wouldn't realize that it's not all about her. Why Joey didn't simply explain that the grownups need their private time is beyond me.

Why Joey didn't simply explain that the grownups need their private time is beyond me.
It bugged the hell out of me that the adults didn't explain things to Michelle. Instead, they just tiptoed around her and humored her. Like when she gave her fish a bath and it drowned. They never actually told her how it died and why you don't give fish a bath. Come on. The kid was old enough to understand, so why didn't they tell her? Instead, they bought her dozens of more fish to kill.

Big WORD to that, Phenobarbara When I was the same age as Michelle in that episode, I caught a baby toad in our yard and put it in an empty bubble solution bottle that hadn't been cleaned out. It soon died and when I showed it to my mom, she bitched me out for it - no sugar-coating, whatsoever. Yeah, I cried the entire day and prayed my heart out for the little guy, but I learned a great lesson that I wouldn't have learned if my mom told me "the toadie is SLEEPING!" or dumped it out without telling me the truth.
All three guys on the show were pretty spineless and had a hard time being honest at anything. They were lucky DJ and Steph turned out okay, but I would have predicted Michelle being in Juvi Hall by 13 years old.
Also HATED! that Lou Bond moving episode, I think it's the worst one in the whole series. I remember being 17 when it originally aired and bitching with my friends about it the next day. It's shittiness is so powerful that I'm still bitching about it more than 10 years later. Why, oh why do I torture myself with this show?! *beats head against desk*

They can't be kin; Damien was awesome/smart/evil and actually contributed to the movies he was in, whereas Michelle was just a bungling minion with malicious intent and a major detractor (I'd say the major detractor) of FH from the third season onwards. You have a basically valid point though; she sucked.

Would anyone like to guess with whom he's been paired? Nancy Kerrigan.
Variety Article of "Skating With the Stars" One thing though, I'm a little confused because the article (which was written in early September) reported that production was starting later that same month, and that it was to be televised sometime this fall. Well, I know that technically until the winter solstice occurs on December 20/21 it's still fall, but c'mon, it hasn't even been promoted yet, and we all know how much Fox likes to whore out its own shows. I hope they didn't decide not to air it, because I was going to watch it just to see Coulier.....skate..... Yea.

OK, I don't understand why Michelle had an invisible friend. The kid was so spoiled and indulged, she couldn't possibly have had any insecurities. I thought insecurity, lack of love, etc. were the reasons for that type of behavior? Though it was mentioned DJ had an invisible duck-is that as bad or worse? LOL! At least she (Michelle) didn't have a whole slew of them. Hee.

I had an invisible friend because I thought invisible friends were cool. I named him Mr. Invisible (creative, I was), but I was in 5th grade so I doubt how cool I actually was. Maybe Michelle thought she was cool, too (I don't remember this episode off-hand though, so maybe there is a real reason).

I knew kids with perfectly good family lives who had invisible friends. Mine were two yo-yos who were actually dogs. Which...okay, not technically the same thing, but close.
Anyway, I kind of doubt that any of the kids at school liked Michelle. Who would want to be her friend? Even her "friends" didn't seem to like her too much, except for Teddy and Denise. And even they eventually got tired of her shit.

I think it was more the fact that she was "chubbier" at that time, for lack of better terminology, and that's why that dress didn't look to good on her. I'm sure Becky could've pulled that dress of, she's so damn thin (not anorexic, plain old thin) lol.

Am I one of the few who never liked Becky either? I mean out of the rest of the characters she's pretty high up there, but she's not that great to me either.
If I have to pick a favorite I'd say Kimmy, although Comet was cool too. Slim pickens indeed.
Least? Michelle - who else? Then obviously Joey and Danny rank pretty high too. I also hated Steve, like get checked for a tapeworm already, that "joke" was tired before it began. DJ grated when she got older too. And of course the bruddahs.
ETA: EVERYone on this show became a caricature after awhile, I mean, Jesse and his hair, Joey and the "comedy", Michelle's bratiness, Kimmy's smelly feet and bizarreness, etc. Seems like that happens with almost every show and it sucks.

I thought Becky's hair was okay when it was red. I maybe wouldn't have chosen the exact shade of red that she did, but I liked her hair long and red a lot more than when it was short and blonde. I don't think that suited her at all.
Kimmy was definitely the best character. She always spoke her mind, and you have to respect that.

I agree. All of the characters were basically okay in the beginning, but once writers/producers/whoever found that audiences responded to a particular feature of a character's personality, they latched on to it and did it to death. That happens in a lot of shows, though. Like making Mark too stupid to know his own name on Roseanne, or turning Debra into a huge bitch on Raymond, or having Michelle be the kid who could do no wrong on FH. Too bad, because Kimmy Was Awesome. I loved how she called Danny "Mr. T" just because he so clearly hated it.

I think Becky went grey early. I mean in the first couple of seasons that she was on the show her hair was gorgeous! It was a natural light honey brown. My hair is sort of like that. It's like light brown hair thats almost blonde but it's still brunette you know? It was amazing hair. Nobody in their right mind would dye it that hideous fake red or that ugly matte dark brown unless you were going gray. Her natural hair color is hard to recreate.

CrazyCamper, I think you're on to something. I have hair similar to Becky's and it's now a freaky shade of red in an effort to cover up allll those grey hairs. And I'm only thirty, dammit.

I have hair like Becky's, and I've resigned myself to going gray before I hit thirty. It runs in my family.
DJ's thirteenth birthday episode was on today, which is the one where we actually get to see the infamous Cathy Santoni. And man was it weird when I recognized the actress! (I forget her name, but she played ZZ on Salute Your Shorts.)
The one where Michelle loses the class bird was also on. I remembered him as being, like, a parakeet or something, but he looked like a decent-sized bird, which is just a stupid idea for a class pet. Birds are great, but they tend to be unpredictable when under stress, and I imagine a bunch of little kids crowding around the cage and poking at it = stress. Also, why the hell would he be flighted? Makes no SENSE.
Michelle did have an almost-cute moment, though, when she was tossing bread slices all around their yard to try and bring the bird back. Not bad reasoning for a three-year-old.

Ann Marie McEvoy was listed on IMDB as playing Kathy Santoni in Thirteen Candles, as well. What's even weirder is that she's listed as playing Kathy Santoni in at least 3 different episodes, yet I don't remember seeing Kathi Santoni more than once, and that was in Thirteen Candles.

The episode with baby Tony was on last week. God, Michelle is so insufferable in that one. But Jesse and Becky were worse. Bribing a kid to grow up? I'm the first to admit that bribery can work, but making Stephanie give up Mr. Bear to bribe her with was awful. And, well, I just don't see why the bribe was necessary. Tony was there for one night. Presumably she'd go back to her usual ways after he left.
