I was totally into Full House during the entire run as well, I remember one night when I was at my best friends house for dinner we were trying to find a show to watch and the new Full House episode w/Little Richard was on, I was so excited, but his parents just flipped past it and kept looking for better quality shows on. I remember they even snarked about the fact that Little Richard was on. Who knew that they had such great taste in television to not want to watch Full House. Thankfully I learned a great deal from them and have carried it over to my own daily viewing habits.

Oh yeah, that episode was in the final season and is annoying as anything else, I mean Little Richard and Michelle? Shoot me now!

I agree on the generational envy, Vespasian. Assuming you're 17, I'm just a year younger than you, and I sooo wanted to be a teenager in the 80s. Though I feel sorrier for kids that were born in the mid-90s without any older siblings. They were born in a time when media started sucking really bad.

Yes, Jodie's a cutie. I've always thought she was adorable in the earlier seasons, and she was incredibly beautiful after her awkward stage. Look at her now, she's the only FH girl that really blossomed.
No Touching
Speaking of the generational divide and how all we wished we came of age a decade earlier, I think that's a reason I love very early Full House. It was steeped in the '80s, and as a teenager in the '90s who hated the '90s culture and wanted to get back to when MTV was cool and fashion was bad, I love how blatantly late '80s everything was.

Of course, the quality was better in those episodes, but I like to think a small part of that is nobody was wearing flannel.

One of my favorite "That is so 80's" moments is D.J.'s first day of junior high. She's standing in front of her mirror with a bottle of hairspray (aerosol can of course) and she and Stephanie start spraying the hell out of her hair for like a full minute until it's so stiff it doesn't move. So 80's. And so great.

Poor Jodie Sweetin. She's a beautiful girl now, but...man, she was...manly, for a while there.

Now I'm thinking of that episode where Steve gets his own apartment, and Danny's freaking out at the thought that DJ might be sleeping with him. She spends the entire episode wearing these red gingham palazzo pants and a denim shirt tied under the bust...or maybe it was denim palazzo pants and a red gingham shirt. None of them really fared well with wardrobe...heh.
kickedinthehead
Going back to the room decor for a moment, either I imagined it or for awhile they had a small promotional shot of Danny up on their wall too for awhile...LOL.
Vespasian88
At least in 2000 and beyond, we seemed to refocus on what was important instead of what was... stupid.

Brn2bwild, I used the term "easy-going 90's" in a relative sense when compared to the 2000's. I didn't mean to make the problems of that decade seem any less than what they were, but, as you said, all of it was minor compared to the real dangers we face now and was on a less dangerous scale. And fear pervades much more now, because it's a lot more tangible, especially with the World Trade Center (when it was still there) visible from across the bay from Staten Island, and with the largest military engagement since Vietnam going on.
I believe I am straying from the goal of this message board, but I feel I just needed to get across that I wasn't trying to belittle the problems of the 90's, but rather puting in perspective the generational discrepancies (or how I perceived them), and basically I was just moaning about it and bringing FH into it.

Speaking of the 80's, FH was a great introduction to that culture (the early seasons anyway). And somehow, those early episodes make me have a sense of nostalgia for an era I was barely conscious in (being 2 years old as the decade closed); let's call it faux-nostalgia, lol. I was just wondering if anyone else has that, or if it's just me.

Wait, I'm confused. This was in the girl's room? why would that be there?

*raises hand* I feel exactly the same way you do! I love watching the early FH episodes because of that (that, and Michelle wasn't talking yet). I also feel the same way listening to 80s music.

No problem, Vespasian. I didn't read your comments as negative.

Don't know if these pictures have been posted already, so I apologize if they have.

Here's Miko Hughes (Aaron): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/jlm1...iko-Hughes4.jpg

And I know we were supposed to stop talking about Tommy Page, but I just had to post this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/dinap/987462d9.jpg

I completely disagree -- Candace is gorgeous now, and I only remember one year when I didn't think she was the cutest girl ever. (I think she was 11 or 12?)
SynSerenity
Candace still looks good, but it looks like the sun hasn't been kind to her. Otherwise, I would say she's the most beautiful one.
Vespasian88
O, yes, Candace Cameron did become very beautiful (actually she was very attractive from the last season onwards in my opinion). I still have always had a thing for Mrs. Sweetin, however, lol (yes, it's Mrs. rather than Ms.).
cinaminsweet281
These E! THS are so informative. I'm watching the Blosson one now, and even though I watched Blossom, I never realized Vicky from FH played Six's mother on that show. Judging by the few scenes they showed on the THS, I liked her a lot better as Six's mother than as Danny's girlfriend.
Cypher21
Wow, she looks great, I still wish she and Jodie would show up on some shows, they are both very talented and damnit, I just want to see them work again.
kickedinthehead
Wait, I'm confused. This was in the girl's room? why would that be there?

I have no idea why but I swear at some point in the show... when DJ and Stephanie shared a room ...there's a small black and white photo on their wall of Danny crossing his arms and smiling! It totally looks like a headshot type photo. I think it was on the wall behind DJ's bed. At least the idea of Danny HAVING a promotional photo isn't too "wtf" since he was a talk-show host.
Phenobarbara
In the E! THS, Dave Coolyay said that he, along with the other adults on the set, assumed that Jodie Sweetin would be the breakout star of this show because she was so precocious and cute and sharp for her age. Unfortunately, MK & Ashley became the stars, and all they did was drool.
SynSerenity
I know! I've said that a few times on this thread. That was so unfair to Jodie.
thumbelle
I don't know why, but it made me happy when I saw on CCB's site that she was at Andrea Barber's wedding and threw a shower for Jodie. After seeing the bile on the "Growing Pains" ETHS, I'm glad to know that the cast of one of my childhood sitcoms still has kind feelings for each other.
Vespasian88
Speaking of the E!: True Hollywood Story of Full House, I have to complain about its length. The content potential was just so much more, the producers of that special easily could've filled another hour or more. And they spent waaay too much time on the Olsen twins. Honestly, they already have one of their own E!: THS's, so it really wasn't necessary to fill up like 45 minutes on them; give the other actors a little more consideration. Really, I would've preferred if they gave Coulier more time; that's how insane the Olsen content was.

O, and today I finally saw the episode today of "Yes, Dear" called "Sorority Girls" with Jodie Sweetin in it. I have to say that her part wasn't really that big; I mean, it was a rather considerable part for a sideline character, but I guess I simply expecting too much, lol.

I always thought that photo was of Doogie Howser. I remember wondering who it was for a long time and there was finally a shot that was zoomed enough so I could see it. Looked a lot more like Doogie than Danny to me.

Well, now we've got Dakota Fanning. I wonder if Jodie Sweetin is PISSED about that...
GarfieldTheCat
At least Dakota's cute and can act and doesnt have a speech impediment, unlike certain actresses
queenfrostine
I myself don't see the appeal of Dakota Fanning, but I'd definitely rather see her on my TV than MK&A. Imagine if Dakota was born years earlier and played the role of Michelle. Wonder if the Michelle character would have turned out the same.
candynecklace
It looks like the Family channel started running the series from the beginning again.

Saturday's ep-so strange. It opened with different theme song; I never heard it before, then it segued into the usual one. Also, there was a lot of extra different footage during the credits. I'm guessing it was edited down & out for future shows. Anyhow, I think it was the very 1st ep-Danny's mom was going back home and leaving Danny & the girls on their own. It seemed to be very soon after Pam had died. Also, I thought Doris Roberts was Danny's mom? She was in the "Danny is really a slob" episode, but this was a different actress.
queenfrostine
According to imdb, Alice Hirson played Danny's mom in the first season, and then later on in season three Doris Roberts took over the role.
Vespasian88
Doris Roberts is the most awesome grandmother on television. Ever. And I saw here wear the same shirt on Full House that she wore one time on Everybody Loves Raymond. I'm not kidding.

Greek-sploitation episodes today; the "Papouli Dies" one and "Kissing Cousins" with Stavros. Stavros. I do have to say, they portrayed Greeks in this really sterotypically bad way. You know, the greasy, dirty, horny, parochial, feta-and-goat-guts-pizza-eating, conning Greek. It was pretty funny, but I can't believe John Stamos (being at least half Greek if I remember correctly) would go for that. That would be like me acting on a sitcom and letting them just relegate Italians to some stereotypical slick mobster type. I don't know. Anyway, those two episodes were a nice reminder of both how good and how bad (in different ways) the later seasons were.

Word. I ranted about that earlier in this thread. Those episodes were embarassing and insulting, and I'm not even Greek. I forgot which ep it was, but remember when they arrived from Greece and they're wearing those outfits that made them look like runaways from the It's A Small World ride? Terrible. Oh, and that stupid "wedding ceremony" with D.J. and the boy walking around a table. And how "since no animals were exchanged", they could get divorced or some shit? I was squirming during that whole ep.
blobbygirl
And worst of all: You had to endure 2 Michelles!

I liked Danny's response to DJ being the most beautiful woman in the world, though: "She's allright..."
Halfpint Ingals
In 1st and 2nd season, Jessee and Stephanie were real close and had some great scenes. Then, they forgot about it and just did Jessee-Munckin.
You know ,Mee-Shell.

Edited to add: She had great comic delivery as a kid, and seemed so smart. I still say Stephanie lines to this day.
Vespasian88

O, I don't think anyone disagrees here. Especially when one considers the monotonous, nonsensical, and obscenely horrid one-liners coming out of Michelle. I was watching the earlier episodes today (one of which is the episode when Stephanie gets the Chicken Pox), and I noticed 1) how good, as you mentioned, the relationship between her and Jessy were, and 2) how precocious she was as a child, how adept at acting. And to think Michelle stole the show; pure acting heresy.
McKay
Today we got the episode where Danny leaves Joey in charge for some reason and he lets the girls walk all over him and stay up late, and then the next day DJ gets home late and doesn't call, so he grounds her on the weekend of her big karate tournament.
I don't really remember seeing it before, but it was pretty good. Danny actually sided with Joey and said that since he was in charge, he could punish DJ. In the end Joey decided to ground her for the following weekend so she could still go to the tournament, which I actually thought was pretty fair - he was angry when he set her punishment, and that does seem a little harsh, as she'd been looking forward to it for months, etc. And she didn't get away with it - she was still grounded. Now had it been Michelle, we all know how THAT would've gone...
GarfieldTheCat
What would have happened if it was Michelle:

Joey: Well, Michelle, since you made it home safely, I'm gonna let you off the hook. Dont let it happen again, squirt.
Stinger97
This afternoon's episode on ABC family was the one where DJ auditioned for the Oat Boat cereal commercial but ended up losing it to Stephanie. What followed was pure sibling rivalry, which was well acted by both Candace and Jodie. You honestly believe they're sisters.

Something I never understood about this episode though was with Joey's b-story. While Steph and DJ are fighting about who should be the new Oat Boat Girl, Joey is trying to quit eating junk food because of his high cholesterol. Towards the end of the episode, he gives in and has a hamburger and french fries from some fastfood restaurant.

My gripe is: Where did he get the food, and why is he in Michelle's bedroom eating it? It just doesn't make sense to me. If he didn't want anyone to know he was eating fastfood, shouldn't he have eaten it at the restaurant?

Odd...

Like suicidals, it was a cry for help; he wanted to get caught.

I was thinking of one of my favorite Jesse/Steph things yesterday when my 2-year-old was working my 18-year-old brother to get him to do something (not sure what, he was speaking fast and in "bubby-bonics"). Anyway, this is not exactly how it goes, I'm sure, but it's so cute.

Steph: Uncle Jesse wants to give me a piggyback ride.
Jesse: No, he doesn't.
Steph: Yes, he does.
Jesse (more firmly): No, he doesn't.
Steph (fake crying): Yes, he does.

I guess you had to be there.

The "Kitty Krispies" episode was on this weekend and during the part where Joey is dancing around to the jingle (Well.. I went to my cat the other day..)my boyfriend turned to me and said that Dave Coulier is the poor man's version of Robin Williams.
blobbygirl

That's the difference between Stephanie and Michelle: Stephanie seemed like a smart kid, and Michelle just seemed incredibly....dumb.

I have to wonder if that was all just the writing, or the way that Mary Kate and Ashley played her.

Stephanie always seemed to have a quip or a remark, Michelle seemed to just play on the adults emotions, which seemed easy since they were wrapped around her finger.

I always wondered why Stephanie's catchphrase, 'How rude,' never caught on. I thought it was up there with Steve Urkel's, 'Did I do that?'

Okay, maybe not right up there, but close.
Phenobarbara

Word. Like in the chicken pox episode. Danny tells her what she has, and in a horrified tone of voice she said "I caught something from a chicken?" It's the delivery that made that line so great.
RainIsBeautiful
It's an awesome thing when I can actually hear Jodie Sweetin's voice in these quotes. The character wouldn't have been the same without her!
kickedinthehead
Er... am I the only one here who didn't find Stephanie that appealing either?

Granted, if given the choice between Stephanie and Michelle, I might pick Stephanie...but that's only because Michelle is Michelle.

Maybe I just don't like Stephanie because my dumb brother used to say I looked like her. And he said that in manly, flannel-shirt era Stephanie...
LukeysBoat
I always wondered why Stephanie's catchphrase, 'How rude,' never caught on.

My daughter was just telling me today how her best friend bugged her like mad at a slumber party this weekend because she wouldn't quit saying, "How rude!" like Stephanie Tanner. The catchphrase lives on!

If you turned out looking anything like she does today, I wouldn't be too worried.

I wrote Jodie and Candance and asked them for their autographs. I collect them. I will see how long it takes.

The lines I say are "How rude" and "Pin a rose on your nose."

But...Wasn't it in her flannel-shirt days that she scored that hunk from Human Pudding? So it can't be all bad.
McKay
God, just the mention of "Human Pudding" sends me into fits of giggles.
Possibly the one genuinly hilarious thing the show ever did. Intentionally, I mean.
Vespasian88
I wrote Jodie and Candance and asked them for their autographs. I collect them. I will see how long it takes.

If you ever get a reply and/or the autographs, would you be so kind as to tell us if they did so and how long it took for each of them? I was thinking about writing the whole cast at some point in the near future, and I'm quite curious, because I had heard rumors that Jodie Sweetin doesn't respond anymore to fan mail, and didn't know if it was outdated or untrue. Thank you.
Halfpint Ingals
I sure will. I put my autographs online, and will provide the links. I even have Dakota Fanning's, as people were talking about her.

I always heard there was not a 9th season on because John Stamos would not be on. I saw see Candance and Andrea were going to college, and would only be on a few times. I also saw Scott W would be back as Steve, which is why they reshot the ending of the finale with Steve. I wonder what the original 8th season finale was like, as it was supposed to be.
McKay
Halfpint, where did you write for Dakota's?
