No, it's not wrong. I tear up at the videotape part too, even though I saw the episode about three times in a five day period.
Stephanie was much less annoying than Michelle, even though personally, I never found Steph annoying at all. Jodie was a cute kid (and beautiful now), and she could actually act. That's a lot more than the Olsens can say or do.

The episode where the family goes to Las Vegas for a Wake Up, San Francisco segment was on today. Joey was cheated out of $100,000 because DJ and Stephanie didn't listen to him and pulled the slot machine lever. I don't know for sure because I've never been in the situation, but I would have been helluva lot more upset with the girls than Joey was.

I should post this in the "Angry Blood" thread, but the "DJ DOESN'T drink beer" episode is infuriating.
First, Jesse refuses to listen to her side of the story. Then, when she does get a chance to tell her father and Joey, they completely ignore her and punish her anyway.
DJ! Who, for all purposes, was a pretty good kid (Danny even says so!)
They don't find out that she wasn't drinking until the kid who DID have the beer confesses.
(paraphrasing)
Jesse (to Danny): "I'm sorry"
Danny: "Oh, that's okay".
WTF?!
So what's the overlying message here? It doesn't matter if you're a good kid, your parents won't believe you anyway? Wonderful.
Furthermore, if anyone had made an accusation like that against my nephews (no kids yet), without talking to them first, and been WRONG, believe me, there would hell to pay.
Moronic asswipes.

The episode where Michelle has her pool in the kitchen is on right now. Gah! Hate! I had to mute the episode after Danny started yelling at Stephanie and DJ for the pool when Michelle was the one who did it. Stupid Danny! He even seemed ready to cave into Michelle when she said that she loved him at the end of the episode, until he was reminded that his shoe was wet.

I saw an episode last night on NAN that I hadn't seen in a long time. It was the one where DJ's boyfriend dumped her for a girl who was pretty. Jonathon Brandis played the jerky boyfriend in the episode. I just thought I would mention it because I had such a huge crush on him when I was a little girl.
I saw this episode last week, too, and now whenever I see it, it always seems a little weird because he committed suicide a couple of years ago. So sad.
But how about last nite's episode with Howie her little boyfriend whom Becky taped at the airport, they watched the tape, Michelle said "More Howie" and Danny made some kind of remark like "It's all H-Tv from now on." (Bad paraphrasing, but that was the gist.) And she was a little tiny toddler, and already everyone was kowtowing to her. Ugh.
For some reason, I had sort of a different reaction to this episode. I always thought once the Olsen twins were old enough to have full conversations, they were horrible "actresses" and annoying to boot (Michelle being a complete asshatted brat was just the icing on that disgusting cake), but in this episode, I was kind of impressed (for lack of a better word) with their acting. Granted, it probably took the directors several takes to get the twins to say the right things, so all of those scenes are probably a compilation of a few minutes worth of hours of takes that went the right way, but their reactions were pretty spot-on and cute. (Before people throw me to the wolves, for the record, this was probably only 1 of 3 episodes where I actually liked Michelle.)
Man, ABC Family showed an episode yesterday that just pissed me off. Jessie and Joey were working on this jingle...for something, who knows? All I remember that the jingle was stupid like the rest of them. Anyway, DJ and Kimmy took it upon themselves to use Jessie's tape recorder to redord themselves singing some horrible song. Jessie catches them and rightfully reads DJ the riot act, Danny walks in, DJ walks off in a huff saying something like "Don't worry, I'll never come in your room again!". Danny says Jessie was too harsh, Jessie agrees.
I was always pissed off at Danny's reaction to Jesse in this episode, too. Frankly, I thought Jesse had every right to blow up like that. It was his "livelihood" that DJ erased, afterall. Idiot Danny.
Anyway, I always, always thought Jodie Sweetin was an awesome child actor in the first few seasons (as well as Candace Cameron). Too bad the casting people didn't score well again with the Olsens or the two annoying brats that played Nicky and Alex.

Michelle taught my little sister and probably thousands of other little girls exactly how to be the biggest brat in the world. For example, sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling "Nananananabooboo I can't hear you" and other such delights. Regardless of the quality of the Olsen twins' acting or the writing, that will FOREVER be the reason I hate Michelle Tanner!!!
Chalk me up as someone else who felt bad for Stephanie, the eternally screwed over sister. Jan Brady's got nothing on her! Stephanie had to share a bedroom her entire life -- both DJ and Michelle got to have their own rooms at some point. And she was WAY cuter than Michelle, and a better actress, but Michelle ended up taking over the show anyway.
Also, I couldn't stand how codependent Michelle and Uncle Jesse were. It really gave me the creeps that he couldn't bring himself to move out of the house with his new wife because Michelle wouldn't have her Uncle Jesse to lead the guys in the Teddy Bear lullabye! Sheesh.

IIRC, Stephanie had her own room up until Jesse and Joey moved in. She then moved in with DJ, Jesse took over Steph's room (pink bunnies and all), and Joey took the loft downstairs.

They played the episode when DJ gets the after school job to get the shoes today. Bah! I hated Michelle with her crappy little politness week shit. I really wanted to kick her in the ass when she asked Stephanie if she could have the cupcake then snatches it when Stephanie says no. Ugh. I think my biggest issue is when Stephanie runs after her, Uncle Jessie is just laughing as if Michelle is so "cute." I would've smacked my kids ass if they did that. I would've beaten my kids if they did half the shit Michelle does. I don't even have kids. Michelle Tanner is the reason I don't want them.
SynSerenity
Aug 15, 2005 @ 3:07 am
But Michelle probably only turned out that way because everyone favored her so much over DJ and Stephanie, and she knew it. I'd like to think that a lot of kids wouldn't turn out that way if they weren't blatantly favored over their siblings. Word to the Politeness Week thing, too. That's one of the moments that really cements my Michelle hate.
Jesse should have had the "special relationship" with someone else on the show, because as always, the Olsens were horrible actors and could never play off anyone in a scene.

Aug 15, 2005 @ 8:26 am
Well, should the show exist in real life, I would say that Michelle Tanner was acting out because of anger over growing up without a mother. Not only that, but she doesn't even have memories of her mother. Instead, all she knows is that she's had to have three daddies, one of whom was an overgrown man-child, one of whom who started out be-mulleted and slutty, and another, her real daddy, who apparently was never up to the task of raising his own daughters alone, and needed an enormous amount of help to deal with three little girls.
But hey, this is Full House, Land Of The 22-Minute Eating Disorder.

I hated the scene where Jesse and Rebecca bring home a bunch of cake samples so they could decide on their wedding cake. Michelle jumps across the table and shoves a sample into her mouth. All the adults naturally thought it was adorable. If either D.J. or Stephanie did that, they would have received a Very Special lecture from Danny about the perils of being selfish and greedy.
Speaking of Jesse and Michelle's "special" relationship, one of my all time favorite cheesy moments from this show is when Jesse was moving out and Michelle gives him her pig. He leaves the room, then lingers at her door. They show a close up of his face, and he has this one giant tear dripping down his face. I swear it looked like someone had squirted some eye drops in that eye five seconds before they shot the scene. So fake.

Unbelievably annoying Michelle moment #85:
Jesse and Rebecca are spending their first night in their new home. Michelle barges in, wanting to play.
Already annoying, but fair enough. Jesse and Rebecca gently, but firmly ask her to leave them alone. She won't leave, and Jesse has to physically carry her out of the room and lock the door (why didn't he just THROW her out?).
She goes whining to Joey, who knows full well what's going on up there, but BRINGS HER BACK, so now it's the both of them annoying Jesse and Rebecca (who were genuinely ticked off at this point).
But apparently, this is hilarious.

Word BondGirl. That always made me angry. Michelle was a self absorbed spoiled little brat. I hated her in the season finale when she gave Stephanie a hard time about kissing the guy. Everyone has to walk around eggshells in front of her. Especially in the episode where Stephanie is recording all the events going on around her, and oh no she got Michelle's little soccer incident. Also am I the only one who felt bad for Danny when Michelle didn't want to be his little girl anymore? I know he is overbearing, but I really wanted to slap her when he came to the school, when she yelled at him in front of her friends. A little lessong Michelle. You are not a big girl, until you start to act like one. Little brat.

A friend and I were watching some episodes from the season 1 DVDs recently. Remember when Joey still lived in the alcove? Well, at least two or three times, the hockey mannequin thing in there had on THE SAME OUTFIT that Joey was wearing that day. So are we to assume he bought extra matching outfits for the mannequin? Cree.pee.
And also a continuity error: Joey got his own room in the basement during that season, but in the next episode (which according to the booklet aired after the "Joey's room" episode) his stuff was back up in the alcove.

Yeah, I noticed that while watching my season 1 DVD's a few weeks ago. I just love continuity (or lack thereof) in TV shows.
While there are plenty of moments on "Full House" to hate Michelle (the Disney World episodes are the pinnacle of Michelle hate, IMO), I was watching the episode when Uncle Jesse moves out after marrying Becky and Michelle has a hard time dealing with it. Anyways, the morning after Uncle Jesse moves out, Danny is fixing pancakes and places a stack on the table for everyone to eat. Michelle grabs the entire stack for herself and pours syrup on them while everyone just looks at her like, "WTF?!?" Michelle then tells Danny: "You better make more...these people look HUNGRY!" Yeah, they look hungry to smack you, you spoiled brat! Of course, everyone (except D.J. and Stephanie probably) thinks it's adorable.
Okay, I watch this show too much.

As much as I love to hate Michelle, I'm starting to notice that D.J. was kind of brat too.
I think it mostly came out in how she seemed to outright hate being around Stephanie to her face - in at least a couple of episodes she pretty much said so.
I get the whole older sister needs privacy thing, but I thought the girls were evenly spaced, and Steph always seemed at least civil if not nicer to Michelle though she was a much more annoying little sister.
I think the D.J. annoyance just comes a lot from the epi where Danny has to decide between Steph's science fair and D.J.'s play. IIRC, Danny had gone to D.J.'s little thing last, so it was Steph's turn but she threw a Michelle sized hissy and then got pissed at Steph when Danny didn't show at all. <<< But if I'm making that bit of backstory up, then it was just because she rubs me the wrong way in some eppies.

I liked Stephanie a lot when she was a little kid, but as she got older, she had her obnoxious moments. Like how she kept reading D.J.'s diary, and evesdropping on D.J. and going out of her way to meddle with D.J.'s stuff. (like the episode where she purposely caused trouble for D.J. for the sake of a story she was writing) I don't blame D.J. for being pissed at her. Stephanie wasn't anywhere near as annoying as Michelle was, but she did have her moments here and there.

I agree. Remember when they used to swear? And Jesse was a man whore? And Joey at least pretended that he was a straight man? And Danny wasn't such an obsessive clean freak? It was definitely a lot better in the beginning.
When I was a kid, I enjoyed watching Stephanie the obnoxious pre-teen, and I said a lot of the phrases she did (man, did I love "How rude!".. much to the chagrin of my parents, I'm sure). But watching the episodes now...eek, the writers must have known how horrible those children were. They were either spoiled and annoying (Michelle), obnoxious (Steph), or so good it made you sick (perfect DJ). What a crappy trio of children.

I can't stand it when Michelle says "You got it, dude." It just sounds so stupid coming from her for some reason. Everytime she says it, I feel like ripping off my arm and throwing it at the tv (tm Friends). Stephanie's "How rude!" never bothered me at all (in fact, I still say it, just like her, sometimes now). Another thing I couldn't stand? I hated whenever they had Michelle sing on the show and afterwards everyone thinks it's the Cutest. Thing. Ever. I was watching an episode yesterday where she's singing some song with Jesse's band (Do Wa Diddi-diddi Dum Diddy Do. Is that the name of that song?) and they wasted about 5 minutes of time, just showing her singing this song, and then the audience and the band clapping and "aww"-ing.

That drove me nuts. Talk about overcompensation. What really pissed me off in that episode is that when she killed the first fish by giving it a bath, they never bothered to tell her why the fish died and that you're not supposed to give the fish a bath. They just replaced the fish for her. She was old enough to understand what she'd done wrong, so they should have explained it to her. Oh wait, this is Danny, Joey and Jesse we're talking about. That pissed me off as well. Why not get her a new fish and then explain that soap and fish don't mix? Honestly, it's not like they could shield her from anything at that point, she knew the fish was dead. And, I don't know, it just seems reasonable to me that if you kill something, you should probably be told about it. At least so she wouldn't bathe any more fish.
And then having a cupboardful of replacement fish? That was just moronic. First of all, that's cruel, secondly, most of them are going to die in there, and thirdly, why the desperation to shield the kid from the concept of death? She already knows things die - she's got to have noticed by now that she has no mother!
Also, do kids really freak out about dead fish like they do on TV? I had fish as a kid. They died pretty regularly, as 10-cent feeder goldfish tend to do. I think my thought process went something like, "Oh, that's too bad." Maybe if "Martin" had lived more than a couple of hours I could buy Michelle's grief. I understand mourning a fish you've had for years, or even months, but...sheesh.

Jesse and Rebecca's wedding episode was on yesterday. I'd forgotten that the reception was in the Tanners' living room. How low rent was that?! I also cracked up at the extras in the background. Some looked bored; some confused. There was one older lady extra standing directly behind Jesse and Rebecca as they danced, and she kept staring at them with this wide-eyed, dead look in her eyes, awkwardly swaying to the music, and not smiling. She looked like a zombie dressed in her Sunday best. Too funny.

I met Candace (and Jodie) about 10 years ago when "Full House" was just ending. Candace wasn't there to speak about motherhood obviously (now that would've been controversial!), but she and Jodie did a mall appearance and did speak to us teens at the time about drugs, alcohol, and peer pressure, etc. They did take questions and most people asked about the show. (I should've asked them why Michelle was such a brat!) I know Candace's speaking engagements these days are more religious based (not there's anything wrong with that). I saw her on VH1's Top 100 Child Stars countdown recently (Candace was #100) and she was talking about her role as a mother in the eyes of God and how it's more important than being a selfish workaholic mother who tries to swing both motherhood and a career. While I may not always agree with her views, I do remember that Candace was a very nice person to meet and I have always liked her personality in interviews I've seen over the years.
Now her brother on the other hand has got to be one of the biggest tools on the planet, IMO as proven by the E! True Hollywood Story of "Growing Pains." But that's another show and this is the "Full House" thread.

Did you watch the episode after? It totally solidified my Michelle hatred (as if I needed another example). Uncle Jesse is put in charge of watching the neighbor's baby Tony while Danny was taking Comet to obedience school. Babies require constant attention and tending to but nooooo poor wittle Michelle can't handle that anyone's attention is deflected from her for a second. She literally starts acting like a baby and sucking her thumb to make everyone feel sorry for her. And of course Danny is all like, "Poor Michelle..." WTF? Stephanie had to give up her beloved Mr. Bear in hopes that the brat would stop whining and she STILL didn't.
